Is the Marshmallow headphone [jack] bug present in Nougat? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering. I'm thinking about switching it Nougat.

A description of the bug would be helpful. There's none that I experience.

Treble ROMs discussion

Have anyone tried flashing the Treble roms on to the P20 lite? If yes, please share with us which ROM and how good/bad it is.
Seems like Treble ROMs are the way forward since we do not see custom development happening anytime soon.
In case you are unfamiliar with Treble, please read Treble FAQ
Treble ROMs can be downloaded from the forum
I'm in the openkirin group in telegram, being so far I think the only lineageOs tester with Android 8.1 in the p20 lite and so far the only serious problem is the camera
If we talk about other aspects, the navigation bar is still a bit smaller than the notch, the contacts of the Sim card are nonexistent, you can not change the internal storage to the SD card and finally the facial recognition is not enabled
Edit: full screen display mode is available, but you have to activate it manually from the settings (applications that do not appear in full screen do not give the option to adapt them as it does in stock)
I tried Lineage and RR (v22) from phhusson as well as the official RR which i use as a daily driver. They work mostly fine except for some minor issues... Music usually plays through the speakers even when headphones are plugged in and it sometimes randomly stops. When charging while turned off, the device boots into eRecovery. The notch is not really supported but RR allows you to move the clock to the left. This way, icons are less likely to be hidden behind the notch. Additionally there are some rom-specific bugs like some settings not doing anything in RR. Battery life is pretty good (I dont use gapps).
The issues will probably get fixed eventually when someone provides logs.
Is the official better than the phhusson one ?
I tried it and was not can of it I think P will be better for the Huawei P20 because of the notch support and navbar replacement by touch gestures.
I tried RR, AOSP, Pixel Experience and Los.
Too much broken features to use it as a daily driver.
For the moment I run the stock rom debloated with adb.

I didnt notice any difference between the phhusson RR build and the official one so far. RR has several options to replace the navbar too btw. I personally use fling which is highly customizable. There is also the option to use edge gestures or a pie menu. System wide gestures are available too but can only be used to launch apps.

Oh I would like to try RR, what would be the problems you have? I'm very interested in using RR

Basically all the problems I mentioned before. But those are the same with all treble roms I tried. Generally RR seems less polished than Lineage and some features are broken, e.g. dark theme in settings. Nothing critical though... However, I only tested the stuff I commonly use (calling, wifi, bluetooth etc. works fine for me).
Someone on phhussons Github reported that his P20 lite overheats when fast charging but for me it works flawlessly.
I don't see the P20 lite as being "treble" supported at this time. What am I missing? I would love to get vinalla android on this and give the device some performance improvements.

Oh the P20lite very much supports Treble. You can check on your own device using a terminal app, type:
Code:
getprop ro.treble.enabled
If the result is true, Treble is supported.
or if you're rooted, simply open the build.prop file (at your own risk!) and check.
Alternately, here is a page with a list of Treble supported devices:
Treble devices list
I do not understand much about treble, but I want my device to always have the latest android available, does your comment means that I can have that in my P20 lite?
Here is a very detailed description of Treble.
Link
Treble is aimed to provide updates to all the devices that support treble at the same time. Since P20 is already shipped with the latest android version, it is irrelevant at this time. But in case you want to flash third party ROMs such as Lineage, there are Treble version of these ROMs that are common for all the Treble devices.
The problem I ran into was the notch.
Obviously these ROMs don't support it really. So notifications go all the way along the top.
Did I miss something?

Yes they don't really support the notch. This is because these ROMs are for all the Brands/models that support Treble and most of them don't have a notch.

hello, please describe to me the procedure you used to return to the rom stock?
Search in the question and answers threads.
There is one about flashing treble ROMs and getting back to stock.

Nougat vs Oreo

Hi, i am still running 7.1.2, never upgraded to oreo because i saw lots of threads and compaints about lag/slowness ....
now after all patches and stuff, is oreo better. is the lag gone? or is 7.1.2 still better to use?
thnx
@NoFatePPC: imo lags are mostly caused by stacking dirty flashes or ota-updates, not by basic faults. So if you're happy with Nougat and ignore the security patches, stay. Otherwise try.
8.0 was really slow, but 8.1 improved it quite a bit. That said, there are plenty of apps like snapchat that are almost impossible to run because they have become so bloated. Pokemon Go can even get choppy or crash quite a bit when using AR (but that might be a memory issue). The camera still works great and is very snappy, and that is the only reason I haven't upgraded to a new phone yet.
Thnx for the updates

Resurrection Remix 6.2.1 or LineageOS 15.1 for lenovo P2?

Hi,
All is in the title: between Resurrection Remix 6.2.1 or LineageOS 15.1, what would you choose (or have already chosen) for a Lenovo P2?
I look for stability, bug free and secure rom.
Thanks by advance for your answers

Well I have used both I can share my experience.
1. Stability wise both are nearly same as RR is Los based and uses Mike's source. Personally, I did not find any issue on both regarding stability.
2. Both share the same wifi deep sleep bug. I did not find anything else.
3. Both are big names, so nothing to worry about who is more secure. But in Los SELinux status is enforcing while its premissive on other. So, better to go with Los here.
But Los lacks customisation. They are removing so called feature with every release. On the other hand RR have tons of them.
Hope this helps!
SELinux is Enforcing in RR. Whereas, Video capture and Slow motion capture is available in RR only. I don't know if LOS and other ROMs have catch up or not as I'm on RR for quite some time now. Deep sleep bug can be controlled by switching WiFi tethering On and Off after using WiFi.
Android is all about customization and RR is what Android needs to be!
My bad if its Enforcing in RR.
Yes RR have tons customisation which also I mentioned earlier.
But I dont think RR would be more stable as it also uses Mike's source and also strongly believe Los will support those camera features. Obsession is right but U can't ignore the big elephant in the room i.e LOS here.
Hahahaha.. No one is obsessed here, only experienced here. Why would a guy leave its fully stable stock ROM for a dull and feature less ROM which doesn't give stable experience, eats battery and lacks customization :silly:
If I am not wrong then AOSP is even bigger elephant but nobody cares.
?? If it was experience then u would have not termed it as unstable and battery drainer.
I use Los and I know how it works.
Yeah! RR is a great Rom but that don't make others unworthy.
What you think
What about liquid remix custom rom
RR is stable and comes with tones of customization. My favorite is the edge guesters which provides a truly botton less navigation experience.
Never liked LOS much because of lack of customizations. Mike has done an amazing job with it. Too bad that apart from RR no one else use his sources for making ROMs.
Cr Droid 9.0 pie is better
I tried all Roms but c4 Droid is better rom
For Oreo: CrDroid is the best option, also don't forget to flash highwstar's camera(Only use VERSION v2-7.1, it's for nougat and oreo). fix. As well as Astrids Video recording fix. So that every camera works. (Photo and Video recording, also no wrong time shown after recording video)
For Pie: Every Rom build after the 24.11 is good. And don't forget to flash video recording fix! Only that one is needed.
Video Recording Fix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/themes/fix-video-recording-t3811600
Main Camera fix (for nougat and oreo): https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...enovo-p2-kuntao-main-camera-fix-hal3-t3819258

Anyone still using Oreo?

I have tried Pie roms but they are not as stable as Oreo. Especially in games like PUBG where there are glitches.
Anyone else on a stable Oreo rom? Which rom and why? (Do mention Android version to avoid confusion.)

I'm on bootleggers 3.0 last oreo build with derp 2.8 Kernel i tried almost all ths oreo ROMs and this one is my favorite , you should try it once :good:
yes,
I am using Cardinal AOSP and pretty much happy with this ROM ! :fingers-crossed:
you can try it
Yaps i still on orea , i have tried most of pie rom available for our device but all of them has some kind of glitches and not enough customization as in oreo ,so i will stay in oreo untill pie rom as stable as oreo and has enough customization.
yep, still using aosip oreo rom, it's the first rom i flash after unlocking bootloader, pretty much stable for my daily use
I'm still on AOSiP Oreo, pretty much since I've bought the phone back in June (used RR for some 10 days maybe), and have briefly tried Pixel Experience, but back when it just came out.
Oreo roms are still more stable than Pie, although for my kind of usage I could even go for Pie, but I don't want to give up Xposed just yet.
It would be nice to have another update for Oreo roms with updated blobs, but I guess exactly 0 devs share this opinion so there's that.
@Cirra92
What"s wrong with AOSP PIE roms ? I"m using PE right now. Apart from "not perfect" standby battery drain, broken manual network selection, broken 5GHz hotspot and that time when MIUI camera refused to record a video (fixed it by rebooting the phone) there isn"t much to complain about. PIE roms seems stable to me

Well I didn't state anywhere that they are unstable, I have just said that Oreo roms are still more stable which means more refined and bugs (mostly, or at least the major noticeable ones) ironed out. You have named couple of bugs already, there are also couple of bigger ones, not supported SD card formats, unstable network handoffs (4G->3G->2G), some roms have WiFi bugs. And that's normal, count in the time put in Oreo roms, and on the other hand Pie roms, as with each major Android release, new bugs arrive, some harder to fix, some easier.
And another note I want to make (mentioned in previous post) that for my particular usage, Pie roms are probably suitable enough, though it depends when will I decide to switch and give up on GravityBox and XInsta (mainly the latter).
Pie roms are certainly getting polished, and are already daily driver material for most people, but still, not everyone.
Revolution OS in combination with latest Deep Kernel.
Perfect for me. Smooth, no lags, fast and awesome battery life

Need a confirmation regarding android oreo based custom ROMs from fellow riva users.

Hey there everyone!
Now, as much as I love installing custom ROMs on my riva on a regular basis, I've been really wanting to ask this question ever since I installed my first android oreo based custom ROM on this device.
The question is: Is it only me or does everyone have random audio clicking/crackle/distortion issues with every android oreo custom ROM?
I mean, an entire song would play perfectly without any audio crackle/distortion, but random audio crackles make it difficult for me to stick to an oreo custom ROM. By random audio crackles I mean, you're unlocking your phone, you get this weird momentary clicking/crackle sound, you tap somewhere, you'll hear that sound. It all happens randomly, you don't know what thing would cause the next momentary audio clicking/crackle sound. Also, none of these random audio clicking/crackle sounds are heard while you're using earphones/headphones. You can only hear them through the speaker.
Almost every oreo custom ROM out here is a unified build: both for riva (Redmi 5A) and rolex (Redmi 4a). Has this issue something to do with the fact that the builds are unified? I've tried DotOS, ViperOS, AEX (AOSP Extended), Pixel Experience and many others but everyone of them has this issue. The most of this issue (the random, weird clicking sounds while tapping anything) can be heard while setting up the phone itself. Nougat and pie custom ROMs never had this issue, why only oreo ROMs though?
Thank you so very much, whoever answers...
Have an awesome day!
