Hello,
I bought this head unit less than a month ago and ever since I've been having problems connecting to a WiFi network. At first it was able to connect after 20-30 attempts, but not anymore.
I think it's something with the signal strength of the antenna. When I create a mobile hotspot with my phone (I've tried both an Android and an iPhone), the network is visible with full signal strength. But when I click on the network to connect, it just says "Connecting..." (at that point the signal strength drops to minimum) for a few seconds and then it changes to "Saved" (with full signal again). I can see that the device retries automatically a few times and eventually it says "WiFi Connection error".
Does anybody have any suggestions what might be wrong, as it's strange that the networks are shown, but can't connect?
I can make a video to illustrate the problem, if necessary.

I'm in the exact same situation with a px3 unit.
Did you manage to fix it somehow?

No, unfortunately I couldn't fix it. I ended up using the device as it was for some time, without connecting it to the internet.

Here's the deal: my S2 keeps disabling its WiFi connection. I’ll be connected to my router for a while, sometimes for 12+ hours at time, when all the sudden my S2 will lose its WiFi connection and switch to 4G. When I go into my WiFi settings, it will say that my router is “Not in range” and show no other available networks (even though there are dozens in this area).
I can sometimes get my connection back by toggling Airplane mode or “use packet data” on/off. But nothing works %100 percent of the time. I don’t think it’s a router issue either because we had 4 smartphones in this house over Christmas and the only two that lost their WiFi connection were my and my wife’s S2s.
Anyone else encounter this?
(p.s. Phone is stock, by the way.)
If you have the Tmobile my account disable or uninstall it.I made a thread about this awhile back. It has something where it needs to stay connected to 4g or intermittently puts data on and cuts wifi off I used to have this problem before not no more after uninstalling it.
Thanks, sarni. I read your thread a couple days ago (when I was trying to figure out what was going on), but I'm not sure we're having the same issue. My WiFi and 4G icons aren't on at the same time, for instance.
The other problem is that I haven't rooted my phone, so uninstalling T-Mobile's "My Account" app isn't an option.
Yet.
Happening again now.
Phone seems to be stuck in the following loop: scanning for available WiFi networks, seeing them all, locking in on my WiFi network, trying to obtain an IP address, then back to scanning again without a connection.
No toggling of settings broke the loop until I powered on/off.
For me, a similar problem
Setting the network mode to auto or just wdcma makes the phone unusable.
Although the extent of the phone grabs. Nay, sometimes even 5 bars but the state does not tra large than 5 (sometimes 10) minutes and reach lost. Often with good coverage, I can not make calls and the internet does not work. Redials the phone ends in the subscriber information out of reach (the phone shows that he has range)
Switching the phone on GSM ONLY mode causes that everything starts to work as it should (only the net so slow)
The problem started a week ago
The problem occurs in various parts of the city, regardless of whether I use the transmitter Play network or roaming.
Factory reset did not help. I suspect the SIM card but the more I'm bending your point defect (eg antenna) since the last few months everything worked
EDIT:
1h watched by telephone yesterday, and what I noticed.
The problem is when a weak signal mode UMTS.
The signal strength of -90,-95dBm causes the phone to have problems. If the signal is below-100dBm the phone is able to maintain a dial-up connection to the Internet are no longer problems. Often there are also decreases above 100dBm signal which usually end up losing the connection of both GSM as well as internet and phone needs a few dozen seconds to reconnect.
If you set the mode to GSM only signal strength is-55dBm and the problems do not occur.

it's your network providers problem not our's. you can obviously not get 3G all around your city
Out of the blue, my WiFi stopped working. I know occasionally this happens and is usually fixed by simply turning WiFi off then on again our by unplugging the router for about ten seconds, but neither of these methods is working this time. This is different, I'm stumped. (By the way I have the SM-P600)
So, the error message I'm getting is, "failed to obtain IP address", then if I click, "RETRY" I get an error message that says, "Network disabled because internet connection is too slow." Which doesn't make sense because all my other devices on my WiFi network have no problems connecting and have no speed issues.
Really, really frustrating. Any help would really be appreciated! Thanks!
The same problems occurs frequently with my tab P-601.
But I have to restart the tab and it works fine. I have to use mobile data for internet connection instead of wifi.
I appreciate any help.
Anybody else have this happen?
I haven't had this problem on my P600, but have had something like it happen on other devices. I think the issue is that Android will remember and avoid WiFi APs with a poor signal. When I am on the fringe of my home WiFi the signal is weak and my network gets blacklisted. To clear the blacklisting I have to force the device to forget the network, the connect again as a new network.
Couldn't detect WIFI
I updated the Android 4.4.2 and since then my tablet couldn't find my WIFI.
My phone and my computer found the network normally but my tablet just showed some of my neihbors' networks. I tried to restart the tablet and reset the router but didn't help.
Now I tried changing he router's settings through my computer and set the frequency to a higher value and now my tablet finds and connects to the WIFI normally!
I thought at first my router was having issues, but that is not the case. I have confirmed zero router issues by using 3 laptops and 2 other phones (Samsung units) to connect to anything I want.
If I connect using my M8 (Verizon), it connects with no issue but I have no real internet connection. The signal strength is -40 so that is not the issue.
I have tried multiple restarts, multiple networks, and multiple SSID's. I even tried forcing it to 2.4 or 5 Ghz and nothing at all seems to work.
Is this a known issue? I am coming from a long line of Samsung stuff so I am not up to speed on the quirks with HTC stuff. Your assistance is appreciated!

Stock, custom ROM, etc?
This is a stock ROM with weaksauce root and nothing else.
Ok, so I just connected to the wifi at my office and it appears to be working just fine, but it took about 15 minutes form my phone to recognize that the network even existed.
I am pretty sure this phone is just a piece of crap. About 2 hours after my last post it started doing the same thing (at work). I just got home and did a 100% fresh reset of both my router and my phone to eliminate any possible configuration issues and it shows that it is connected on the phone, but the router is not seeing that it is connected... how the hell does that work?

Since you've determined its a piece of crap, sell it and get yourself a iPhone. Why bother trying to get it to work.
When you connect to your router what details does it give in the phone WiFi settings for that connection?
Also which router do you use?
Hi.
Since a few weeks I have a strange problem with my Wifi connection.
When I'm at home and turn on Wifi everything works fine for some time and my M9 connects to my Wifi. But after some time (haven't found a rule, sometimes after 1 hour, sometimes after 5 hours, etc) the wifi connection is lost and my network is no longer listed in the list of available networks. It also seems like the list of available networks is getting shorter the longer wifi is turned on.
If I turn of wifi and turn it on again after a few seconds my network is found immediately and the phone connects without any problems.
I'm not 100 percent sure but bluetooth seems to have almost the same problem and the phone no longer connects to my smartwatch until i turn off and on bluetooth. Sometimes it is also ok to turn off and on bluetooth to get my wifi back running.
The problem started to exist on lollipop and is also present on mm. I already did a factory reset but it didn't seem to help.
Anyone experiencing the same problem or has any clue what it could be? Maybe a hardware problem?
Kind regards,
TeQuiLLaXY
Perhaps a router problem ?? Or a service provider issue with WIFI ?
Does the device connect with other WIFI signals other than your primary signal ?
Just a few other areas to check beyond the device that can be overlooked...g

Hi gregsarg, thankfs for your reply.
The router doesn't seems to have a problem since other devices have no problem to connect to it. Service provider has nothing to do with wifi, the phone is not connecting to the wifi it has no problems accessing the internet via wifi when it shows it's connected. Also the connection can be established as soon as i disable and reenable wifi on my phone for about a second.
I don't have access to the other networks that are around my home so I can't check if it connects to other networks, it's just strange that the device does not show my network in the list of available networks after it has lost connection. If I disable and reenable wifi on the phone it immediately shows my wifi in the list of available networks. SSID is not hidden...
Could be hardware related...
And you could RUU back to stock and test again to rule out a software issue...g
