Did the issue exit even on Stock Os?.
If yes then may be something related to hardware.
If no then it might be a software issue

It was there in stock ROM and even stock ROM updates, but how will it affect periodically if it is related to hardware ?

Does your ROM have a setting for automatic gain control? That adjusts the mike based on ambient noise. On some of my former phones I've had to turn it off or the device lowers the mike sensitivity.
hi, thanks for the reply,
When that option is turned off i can't be heard at all.
i'v got same problem whit my phone when i flashed nand cm7 on it.
is'nt it related to the rom?
is it possible that the flashing changes the other settings of radio or ...
the microphone is working but volume is low and i have to yelling on it to talk with people!

Most volume issues are related to the rom.
Flashing the rom can change the radio, but may not. It will tell you what gets changed if you watch the screen during the flashing.
Microphones do fail. If all roms are having the same issue then you probably have a hardware issue.
Flash back to stock. Then if you are not having issues try asking for help in the thread for the rom you want to flash. If you are still having issues then it is 99% chance that it is a hardware issue.

This.
My gf's phone (completely different device) had a similar issue, and it was definitely not software. I looked, the mic port was clogged with whoknowswhat. Took a pin and carefully picked the stuff out. Mic works great now

In-call Noise?

Hi, I have been experiencing a problem with my HOX when in call.
As far as I can remember, I don't think it was present before the update last week, but it could just be coincidence that it has decided to show itself now.
The problem is as follows:
When in call, there is a nosie, mostly CONSTANT, that is sort of a brackground noise, and sounds like a house fly?
Can anyone shed any light as to what it might be?
Is it signal caused? Software caused? Or hardware.
Anybody?!
do you have custom rom? because in some cm10 roms there were similar bug, but only for some devices, i never heard any kind of speaker problem with no-one rom

Nope, Stock ROM, stock Kernel, not rooted etc etc
Like I said, I can only really remember it happening since the last HTC Update last week.
But, my girlfriend is down south, which is why I ask could it be signal based?

[Q] CM 11 audio issues on d2tmo?

Since moving to the CM 11 nightlies, I have have been experiencing an issue where randomly, notification/alarm audio will stop working completely until a reboot. This has obviously been a little troublesome since I use my phone as my alarm clock - and to not have the sound go off in the morning because the phone decided to stop making noise in the middle of the night is a pain (I've at least fixed this by setting the alarm to vibrate as well.)
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix? This has persisted across multiple nightlies, both via updated and wiping/reflashing. Thanks.

CM is known for audio issues, mainly on nightlies. Stable versions don't usually have those problems. I've never heard of this particular one though. Are you running any other mods or tweaks? Xposed, root apps, different kernel than the "stock" CM one? Or anything you have to flash via recovery?

Nothing special, only things I flash are the CM ROMs themselves and the appropriate gapps. In terms of root apps, just the usual (titanium, helium, superuser.) I'm going to do a complete wipe and reflash when the next stable Kitkat build is released and see if the issue persists. If it does at that point, then maybe I think a bug might need to be created.

Urgent and Serious issue with audio! HELP needed. please!

Guys, I have this one major issue with audio in my phone and its the rarest of the problems! The whole audio output stops completely. By completely, i mean even the receiver sound. completely dumb! cant hear anything if someone calls me. This has been occurring since a month or so. I am running on Cyanogenmod 11 M8. Even if i restart the phone its stays the same way. And all of sudden, randomly, the audio back again, working properly. when it goes dumb it stays like that for 5 6 hours. it happens quite often. this is throwing me off totally.
Device : Galaxy S3 SGH i747 - At&t
This problem happens:
1) when i am on call, suddenly it goes mute.
2) when the phone is kept idle for more than 3 4 hrs. So every morning its dumb when i wake up.
These are what I've tried and what I've found out:
1) I reverted back to stock 4.3 to check if its the problem with audio hardware. But in stock it worked perfectly and flawlessly. no issues there. SO its definitely got to do with cyanogenmod.
2) I flashed ktoonsez kernel on CM 11 M8, to check if its kernel problem. But its happening again. SO its not the problem with kernel.
3) I recently found out that if I wipe the cache from recovery, audio is back working. SO its definitely something in the cache thats messing with the audio. Some app may be.
this thread can be referred for more details on this issue:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/81373-audio-stops-working-from-time-to-time/
and I dont know what else to do now. Ive tried uninstalling all the apps that access audio. But the problem still persists.
I really really need help fixing this one. PLEASE HELP.

I've had that issue a month or two ago but haven't seen it on the latest ROMs. I'm not sure what causes it but I would suggest you flash another ROM if CM messes up with your sound (or another version of CM).

Hi, Thanks for the response. I personally like CM and the extent of customization it offers. I actually dont mind switching cuz sound is bigger deal. Would you mind suggesting ROMs that are similar or comes closer to CM and also good at the same time? which ROM are you on?

Hey it got fixed in the latest nightly ( cm-11-20140721-NIGHTLY ). I had put it in cyanogenmod forum, I guess they read the issue and fixed it. Audio is perfectly fine now! Feels so great to use cyanogenmod again.
Thank you cyanogenmod!
I have this issue too but it doesn't have to do with the audio disappearing; it's simply gone from the get-go after clean flashing a ROM.
As you've said, stock FW and ROM works fine, but anything custom will just totally break it. Seems to be a very isolated issue with the phone itself, I've searched all over for people with the same problem but could never find anything.

Oh. It used to happen to me once or twice. No audio when I install CM, after it boots the first time. I think you should check the new nightly of 7/23. Looks like its fixed. They've fixed a number of audio issues over the last few nightlies. And I've always preferred CM over any other roms, so I've no idea about why it isn't working on other roms.

Thanks for the suggestion, I may as well give it a try since most everything else I've tried has had the same issue.
edit:
Clean flashed latest CM nightly, sound worked for around 2 minutes, then stopped when I plugged headphones in. Rebooted, got it to work via speakers again but then DSP manager force closed and left me without sound.
Rebooted into recovery, cleared cache, still no dice.
Going to try another clean flash to see if I can get sound to last a while longer.
edit 2: It seems to be screwed completely now, no sound after install + reboot.

Proximity sensor during call problem (OOS 4.0.1)

I have updated OxygenOS to 4.0.1 and now I have problem with proximity sensor during call (on 4.0 I haven't noticed that).
Firstly, there was a problem with changing volume during call. There is also problem that screen doesn't turn off when I keep it right next to my face and I'm during call. Also there is a problem that screen turned off while in call and when I took it away from my face, it turned on after few seconds.
Anyone on 4.0.1 having the same problem? I thought OP fixed this problem on that version but I'm having it. Maybe I should do something to fix that (dirty flashed from 4.0, maybe I should clean something or try wiping system and flashing 4.0.1 on top of that?
I'm having the same problem on 3.2.8, and had it ever before. Maybe you just didn't notice it till now?
Proximity sensor is bugged on this thing from MM times. Sometimes it works and other time, it doesn't

It would be more widely reported if that were true, never had an issue with proximity sensor on 3.2.8 or 4.0

I'm on 4.0.1 don't have a single issue so not sure what you want me to tell you. Best solution is backup and reset device

Like I said mate, sometimes it worked but it never bugged me to the point of frustration so ignored it.
I am facing the proximity sensor issue too. when on call the screen is switched on and many keys are pressed. sometimes by accident even the airplane mode is switched on.
this is constantly a problem with OP3 even in 4.1.3. very poor software support. I think now that are focused only on op5.
No it's not a proximity sensor problem, it's a OnePlus dialer app bug.
There are several bug reports in OnePlus forums about this issue and in one of them they say it will be patched in next version of OOS (I assume stable not tried with new open beta which installs new dialer) so if you don't want to wait, for me the solution that works it's to install Google dialer app from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-how-to-install-google-dialer-phone-t3443006
I recommend to follow all steps in the first post to install it without problems and you won't have this issue anymore.
Hope it helps you.
Un saludo
Has anyone any idea when this will be fixed by oneplus? It is driving me mad, nearly every call gets interrupted by my ear pressing a button turning on the light etc.
I want to keep my phone stock so cannot use the google dialler tip posted above. Thanks
