Hello XDA!
A quick thanks to those reading/interested and I apologize in advance if this belongs in the development section. I don't have permission to post their yet (perhaps with good reason!). After much searching, I've come to the conclusion there is, as yet, no free method of network unlocking the Galaxy Wonder GT-I8150.
I want to find a method to do this, test it, and then automate the process through a shell script and/or batch file. If it doesn't cost too much, I'll even try and make an app for it. I have two reasons for doing this: I own this model of phone (surprise!) and more importantly, I want to expand my portfolio of little computer projects because I want a job in IT, and I want it now.
So this thread will serve as a knowledge base and brainstorming place. Please -anyone with ideas about how to go about this - let me know!
Here's what I'm trying at the moment: based on a similar method used to unlock the HTC Sensation (and some other models), I'm going through the mmcblk virtual partitions after copying them to a .txt file (filetype is binary, .txt is just so my girl's Mac opens them with a text editor). Using a grep command with a regular expression I'm pulling every single 8 character long string of only digits and exporting the result to another txt file.
I then search the mmcblkXpXX file for these 8 long strings one at a time, trying to read through what I can of the binary file for giveaways like "isim_auth_key" or what not.
I started yesterday so I'm only up to mmcblk0p06.
If you have a network unlocked version of this phone, I might end up needing certain files to compare, but I won't ask unless I think I'm onto something.
Finally, if anyone has found an NV_data.bin, bml5 file (or equivalent) for this model, tell me what it's called! Or where I need to extract it from.
Thanks in advance,
GrayedFox
Info
Here are some links to information about unlocking various models of phones, using slightly different methods, for those interested. None apply directly to the gt-i8150 but I'm trying to tweak them just as a starting point.

Here is some information from my mmcblk0p06 file... wrapped in spoilers.
PERSO: Failure to write: %sPerso Command can be handled only on a provisioned session or when Card is not present on slotmits/perso.txt
[first mention of a person.txt file I've found]
EFS file read successfully [this implies there IS an efs file somewhere…]
EFS: Creating ISN file
EFS store sequence number
EFS: ISN file not present
AMSS\products\7x30\core\securemsm\smetest\test_crypto\src\sectestcipher.c
if anyone knows how to access that perso.txt file listed, please post the linux command here!
I'm afraid to say I'm running out of ideas here I've pulled every single mmcblk file on the phone - on stock rom and on cyanogenmod - looking for some sort of reference to a network unlock key but it's just not there. I even got Vodafone to send me my unlock key and have been searching the files for the exact key but it's no where on the phone.
I've even data dumped each of these files too - with an authenticated and nonauthenticated sim (network unlocked and network locked) sim and searched using a hex editor. I will have to move on to another project soon, but perhaps this will serve as an informing post for some: let it be known, there are absolutely NO references to an unencrypted network unlock key for this model of phone on stock rom.
Not in any of the mmcblkXpXX files (where most unlock keys are found for other phones) - and I've searched hard.
if anyone has further suggestions I'll remain subbed to this thread. Peace.
Probably they save a lock code, and the unclock is calculated with that lock code and IMEI.

Hi all,
I have searched high and low for a straightforward method to root Sony Xperia Z1, D5503, 14.6.A.1.236, Android 5.1.1
and all I have found are either: outdated methods, overly convoluted methods involving downgrading the firmware and flashing custom recovery, and lastly, shady malware-like programs like KingRoot.
I do not want to unlock the bootloader, loose DRM protected functionalities, loose warranty, or change Sony's operating system.
All I want is a clean and reversible method to gain root, install Xposed framework and maybe delete some Sony's bloatware.
Is that possible?
Thanks.

Thanks, but I prefer to find an alternative to KingRoot, because:
- People on this forum claim KingRoot connects to multiple Chinese IPs long after finishing the root process.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63787618&postcount=2641
according to my own sandbox analysis of KingRoot PC program:
- KingRoot EXE modifies WINDOWS\\win.ini WTF?!
- adds a Tcpip\Parameters to send keep-alive transmissions. WTF?!
- Spawns a lot of processes WTF?!
- Creates files in windows directory WTF?!
- Terminates other processes using taskkill WTF?!
- Installs itself for autorun at Windows startup WTF?!
all of the above are completely unnecessary for what this app is supposed to do and very malware-like.
- Also, I have seen automated replies that say KingRoot is the best ever and it is perfect in various forums topic around the internet where people where questioning KingRoot's reputation.
At this point I am pretty sure KingRoot exe & apk are malwares. I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole.
I want to actually use my phone & PC, not ruin them with virus!
My analysis of the KingRoot Andoird App:
Has the ability to identify network operator related data "android.telephony.TelephonyManager.getSimOperator
WTF?! WHY?
Has the ability to get the wifi MAC address (may be used to fingerprint device)
Has the ability to query the phone location (GPS)
Has the ability to read the device ID (e.g. IMEI or ESN)
Has the ability to read a list of running processes/installed packages
Permission request for "android.permission.CAMERA" WTF?!
Permission request for "android.permission.WRITE_SMS" WTF?!
android.permission.CLEAR_APP_CACHE Allows an application to clear the caches of all installed applications on the device. WTF?!
same as the Windows EXE, I do not want this malware near my daily driver phone.

Once you're rooted, you can wipe everything and change root.
I second the OP request: a root method not using KingRoot.
If it doesn't exist could you please point me to the outdated methods involving downgrading etc. the OP is referring to ? I now have fw 14.6.A.1.236 and locked booloader.

It's not hard, but takes quite a bit of setup and downloading. You need Flashtool, phone drivers, (Flashtool can provide), a KK ftf file, a KK root tool, (there are several), a recovery installer, and a LP prf file. Basically:
- Flash KK stock fw with Flashtool
- Use root tool to root, (there were several one-click tools back them, search xda)
- Install recovery, xzdr pc installer by NUT is best option
- Download .236 prf file from 'general' forum, and flash in recovery
(Personal opinion - the issue with Kingroot, even if there is any validity to the privacy fears, is only if you are trying to save your data, etc, which is going to be tricky with downgrading etc, anyway. Once you're rooted, you can wipe your whole system, including Kingroot, and flash SuperSU or whatever you want, with a whole new ROM)
Thanks for the answer and for your opinion, I'll wonder about that. Just in case: are you aware of an app to use at the end of the process that could advise me if my phone will try to contact unknown sites ?
This is completely different story.
For myself I modified /etc/hosts, it's size is now about 15Mb pointing all crap to 127.0.0.1.
Hell of traffic is avoided.
There are threads related.

Yes its rooted.
Could you please tell me which files needs to be modify for MAC changing.
Sorry I don't know if it is possibile to change the mac address by modifying a file. MAC Address is a physical address, that means that it can be changed only temporarily with the Linux shell command that I've written above. In the past I've used that command on Android (with a Galaxy Note 2) and it worked! Now I don't remember if I've ever used with LG G4 when I had root permission (with Lollipop), but I can't try now because I doesn't have root access anymore, because I've upgraded to MM and I don't want to unlock the bootloader for warranty purposes
PryFi from chainfire works (usually), just be sure to make a backup of all partitions before using it. Once using the app made my IMEI disappear.
I had a moto x 2nd gen and I modified a file for MAC and it was perfectly working .
So i think there must be a file for permanently changing MAC Address. In my Lg g4 t mobile have MM 6.0
I think you need a special flasher to change MAC address but I'd love to know too
Ok so essentially im trying to spoof my mac address on my newly purchased verizon HTC 10 its a great phone but of course i got caught up in how pretty the phone was and purchased it without realizing that Verizon prevents you from unlocking the bootloader ( cant say i'm surprised it is verizon after all ) no big deal so i purchased sunshine to get s-off which worked very well, flashed twrp recovery and easily installed viper rom, after installing all my apps, i thought that surely spoofing my mac would be no problem, after all i spoofed the mac on my jailbroken iphone with a simple terminal command that modifed the mac in NVRAM. Then the great train wreak began, first i started with the play store apps which would spoof the mac however they failed to authenticate with any network that had any kind of security so that was a no-go, then i used busy-box commands to try and attempt to spoof the mac same issue failed to authenticate, so then i just figured id go into the filesystem and modify some files, however every tutorial i could find pointed to a /efs directory which was not present at all or a /persist directory which was also not present there were a few other directories none of which i could find. Eventually i just got so pissed i took the wifi firmware files ( and if anyone was wondering the model of the chip is a bcm 4359 which is apparently a really good chip ) and went into a hex editor and found macaddr=%2 and changed %2 to equal the mac im trying to spoof. Of course when i applied the modified firmware files the wifi failed to turn on at all, so i thought maybe its the viper rom, perhaps it lacks directorys that a stock 6.0.1 rom does, but after restoring my backup its the exact same root directory as viper, what i don't understand is why its so easy too spoof a mac address on an IOS DEVICE, but on an open source operating system such as android its giving me this much trouble, maybe i'm just stupid and missing something really obvious but surly it cant be this difficult to spoof a mac on android, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Folks,
I'd like to set my Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (Oreo 8.0.0) into root mode to recover pictures I accidently deleted by pressing "del" on the marked "Pictures" folder in Windows. Therefore I'd like to use the App "DiskDigger" which needs the phone in root mode. Unfourtunately I couldn't find a tutorial for this usage.
My Phone isn't listed here so I don't know how to go further.
It would be kind if someone could help.
best greetings
