TWRP
I have uploaded a beta TWRP to my google drive folder, I currently only recommend booting it, and not flashing.
UPDATE: TWRP fully works(you can flash it to your recovery partition) on the 3.5.3 version of OOS, if you are on 3.5.1, I recommend boot TWRP only.
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Does this require a root?
Download Kernel onto 3T
Download Twrponto Computer
Put 3T into Fastboot
Run Fastboot boot Twrp.img
Reboot bootloader
Use temp Twrp to flash kernel????

You do not need root, but you can root if you wish. I suggest fastboot boot twrp, then flash sr4 supersu followed by kernel zip.
Nice job,bud

Right now, GCC6, makefile changes, power efficient workqueues, some patches from pixel for using kthreads, kcal, backlight dimmer, frandom, tried to lower load average a bit too. I also added a couple IO schedulers and disabled crc on mmc device.
Thank you very much for this.
3.5.3 has issues with off screen gestures because they updated the panel firmware, I will look for a temp fix until they release the source
Good thing I hate gestures
R3 is up, I am working pretty heavily on this, I literally release a build and remember I forgot something nice

I haven't had the time yet. I think we can at least implement a kernel level dt2w on it if we need to. I will try to look in a bit, feel free to contact me on hangouts as well if you use that.

I installed the kernel earlier and I miss the off screen gestures, do you have a stock kernel compiled? Thanks, keep up the good work.

Installation:
Flash the zip in your recovery
or
Auto-flash from Franco Kernel Updater app
Features:
1 - Legendary battery life
2 - Flash & forget
3 - Typical interfaces like display adjustments, sound control, vibration control, and all that boring stuff
4 - Bypasses the verified boot flag for Android Pay compatibility (root still breaks Android Pay but that's your own problem)
5 - Idle power consumption reduced to the absolute minimum (if you have wakelocks from 3rd party apps you're obviously on your own)
6 - Support for FKUpdater's Performance Profiles
7 - Magical support, I'm here every day, checking posts almost hourly, ready to help anytime (well, unless you fail to read the OP, which contains most info you need)
8 - Seemless integration with my app FKUpdater
9 - No crap placebo patches, or "magical" optimizations
10 - Probably more, check my github for all the details - the code speaks for itself

Kernel Manager for Franco Kernel
Disclaimer to moderators:
Slight OT is fine, but when users decide to act stupid they should be dealt with with the appropriate means - its really annoying for me when OT turns crazy. Please put the warning/ban hammer anytime any of you think there's lack of respect and/or too much unwanted OT crap - but if it doesn't meet this criteria let the OT posts alone. Thank you.
Cheers!
Yes it's about time!
FKUpdater users from previous phones: support for this device will be added as soon as realistically possible.
My main focus on r1 release was to improve battery life as much as possible. I'm very happy with it.
If you want a detailed change-log check my git.
I'm sure you're going to love it.
Yayyyy!! Franco is here!
r1 is only for 6.0.1, don't flash if you're not using it. Also you must use the new system-less SuperSu, 2.60 or newer.

Why do we have to use the system-less? Will normal system root not play well with the kernel?
Fair enough to assume we should reflash SuperSU 2.61 after the flash of a zip?

Because for 2.52 to work it needs a different sepolicy bin, and I can't use the old 6.0 binary from CF's initial Nexuses pre-rooted boot.img. And because system-less SuperSu is the future and it will let you flash OTAs on your device without wiping or extra cleaning.

Franco kernels
This is the best development (pun intended) of the day! Thanks Franco!
Hi OnePlus 5 peeps!
Today (June 27th), I graduated from high school!
In more important news, I finished upstreaming the OnePlus 5 kernel to the latest stable kernel version...
Whoa, what is this?
This is my personal kernel that I run as the OnePlus 5 is my daily driver.
I will not claim my work as the best at anything, but just know that I would not do anything to this kernel that could potentially ruin my own device.
Additionally, this is the kernel that comes built into CarbonROM.
There are three versions of this kernel:
AOSP aka AOSP/LOS build - Flash this on any source built custom ROM except for CarbonROM
CR-5.1 aka CarbonROM build - Flash this on CarbonROM
OOS aka OxygenOS build - Flash this version on OxygenOS
Main features:
Upstreamed Linux kernel version, went from v4.4.21 -> v4.4.79
Backported random driver from Linux v4.12 (latest and greatest)
Backported scheduler from Linux v4.9 (latest android kernel branch)
Upstreamed F2FS driver from f2fs-stable/linux-4.4.y
KGSL driver improvements
MDSS driver improvements
SOC driver improvements
Built using Optimization Level 2
Added maple io scheduler (default) by frap129
Added adreno idler by arter97 with tweaks from frap129
Vibrator motor control by flar2
Kcal control driver from EX kernel
Many wakelocks disabled
Switched to power efficient workqueues across the kernel
Built with Google's latest stable gcc-4.9
Anykernel 2.0 by osm0sis! Compatible with all OxygenOS based roms
Download:
Latest builds
OxygenOS boot.img
How to install:
1. Reboot into the latest stable TWRP build
2. Download kernel zip and make sure it is in your internal storage (/sdcard)
3. Reboot into TWRP
4. Double check here to see if you require any additional instructions
5a. Install -> Install image -> select oxygen-4.x.x-boot.img -> swipe to install
5b. Install -> select CarboniteKERNEL-XXX-Rx-OP5-N.zip -> swipe to install
6. Reboot
DISCLAIMER!
If you don't understand my instructions, that's too bad >
If you are unsure about what this thing is, I highly advise you do some research before going through with installing...
Updates will come as regular as I want them to, don't ask me when I'll release cause you'll know when it comes out >:'D

For OxygenOS users:
Code:
[B]If you are on OxygenOS and are coming from another custom kernel:[/B]
Download the latest stock.4.X.X-boot.img
You [B]must[/B] flash the boot.img before flashing the kernel!
[B]If you are on OxygenOS are switching to a different custom kernel:[/B]
Download the latest stock.4.X.X-boot.img
You [B]must[/B] flash the boot.img before switching kernels!
For AOSP/LOS/RR/etc users:
Code:
[B]If you are coming from another custom kernel:[/B]
You [B]must[/B] reflash your ROM build before flashing this kernel!
[B]If you are on AOSP/LOS/RR/etc and are switching to another custom kernel:[/B]
You [B]must[/B] reflash your ROM build before flashing another kernel!
Why is it like this?
I have included some ramdisk modifications that set the default settings for this kernel. When you come from a different custom kernel, the ramdisk changes from that kernel may conflict with the changes I intend to have. Likewise when you switch to a different kernel; my ramdisk changes may conflict with the changes they intend to have. When you flash the stock boot.img, it replaces the modified ramdisk with a clean one, removing these conflicts.
And it's here, get it while it's hot folks! First upstreamed kernel for the OP5
Thanks for joining the party :highfive:

Hmmm never noticed this... I guess the graduation drinks are getting to me. I'll re-upload a stable build without upstreaming as that's definitely the culprit.

It's because OOS has a hal that already uses a switch for dt2w.
New update, still looking into the gestures issue.
However, Dash Charging is fixed on the upstream kernel so here it finally is! I also added a bunch of sched patches, a thermal patch, and some other misc stuff from the latest CAF branch.

Introduction
NOTE:
Hello everyone, this is my first kernel for the Moto G4 Plus. I will try to maintain a stable kernel however bugs might arise since I'm not a super star kernel developer. I hope you enjoy the releases.
Important information
I will not reply to complains that do not include clear steps to reproduce the bug, a logcat, and a console ramoops (if random rebooting) or a dmesg (any other issues). Follow this guide to do this.
Features
Here are the major features of the kernel (feel free to explore Github)
Update to date with the latest Linux upstream version (3.10.108-EOL)
Westwood as the default congestion algorithm with many more to choose from
Several subsystems converted to use power efficient workqueues
Compiled with Google's arm-eabi 4.9 toolchain
Audio control from flar2

NOTE: Please make sure that you return to the stock kernel of the ROM before flashing this kernel. The kernel is unified for Moto G4 and the Plus variant so everything should be working fine.
Install the latest adb and fastboot: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html#download
Grab the boot image from the download links above
Method 1:
Using adb and fastboot
Reboot into the bootloader using either restart and hold power button and volume down or adb:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Flash the boot image. Run the following command in the folder with the boot image and ensure fastboot is in your PATH:
Code:
fastboot flash boot <boot_image_name>.img
Reboot and profit!
Method 2: TWRP
Keep the bootimage on your phone's storage and boot to TWRP.

FAQs
1.1 Q Can you help me I have this problem?
1.1 A I will surely try to help if proper bug reporting is done as per the fashion described above.
1.2 Q: Can you add xyz feature?
1.2 A: If you link me the commits or tell me what kernel you had the feature in, I can take a look at them. I will not add any useless governors or features that I don't find practical.
1.3 Q: How do I control the kernel?
1.3 A: I recommend using EX Kernel Manager or Kernel Auditor (Both need root)
1.4 Q: OMFG MY BATTERY SUXXXX PLS FIX!!!
1.4 A: The kernel doesn't drain any battery unless you have overclocked it, I have kept it at stock frequencies and voltages. Use an app like BetterBatteryStats to figure out what app is screwing with your phone.

IDK I don't have the time, we already have so many ROMs available. Creating a new ROM will be adding it to the huge list already available, from AOSP to LineageOS to Dirty Unicorns. I would rather work on optimizing what we have. Quality > Quantity.

I don't think so. If magisk is installed/flashed once, then no need of flashing ever again until you freshly install the rom. (AFAIK)

Ether
The kernel for enthusiasts
This kernel is built BY a ROM enthusiast FOR a ROM enthusiast.
The features will always revolve around customization and fluidity.
For now; the kernel includes a SafetyNet patch and KCAL patches to provide easy access to custom color profiles.
The main idea is upstream stability, and ROOT-ability. This kernel can be flashed to the latest android P preview, followed by the latest Magisk beta to obtain root on the latest developer preview.
The Idea
This kernel is meant to be absolutely bear-bones MINIMAL.
In an ideal world, this would mean a safety-net patch, custom cross-compiler/toolchain, and bare-minimum quality-of-life patches (like KCAL for night-light/blue-light-filter).
Requests
You may DM me with feature requests, and I'm sure I will compile a custom kernel for you with the features you request, however I cannot guarantee you a place in the master branch of my Ether kernel. This is simply because this is meant to be absolutely barebones.
Source
The source code is available at my github here. I encourage you to poke around and try to build your own kernel with your own custom patches. It's a very rewarding experience and I'm sure 'hackers' will love to play around with your builds.
I have attached some releases here, I'm sure, but the latest release will always be available at my github releases

For now; the kernel includes a SafetyNet patch and KCAL patches to provide easy access to custom color profiles.
The KCAL patch is a bit new, so some apps (like Night Light on F-Droid) will NOT work ootb. I am, however, working on finding a way around these limitations.

I was wondering why elemental threw me for a loop. How does one remove dtbo.img ?

If you're on a custom ROM you sometimes need to remove the dtbo.img file from the zip. I think I'm using an older version of Anykernel. I'll add an updated zip to the OP in a few minutes to see if that sorts it out.
@Guessphx Just updated OP. Give it a shot, and it it doesn't work -- try this one

I was having the same issue and can confirm this kernel you just linked, 1.2 w/o dtbo file boots!

I've been looking into it I think I just left out a config flag. It'll be fixed in the next release
Kang kernel
By Sjll
Notice: Beware of bricking device!
This a new kernel for stock 10. It's aim to optimize the kernel and provide better user experience.
I had cherry-picked some commits from other SDM845 devices like M i8 and Oneplus 6T. So it's a fusion kernel, though I don't know whether these commits could improve our performance.
I share the source codes, so you could tweak the kernel by yourself. Ok, don't forget to share your work with us.
Download: Github
Note:
1. For XZ2, boot.img already included Magisk.
2 Internal problem is normal, ignore it.
CAF Version: LA.UM.8.3.r1-07600-sdm845.0.
Linux Version:4.9.206-r25-rel
Recommand to use EX kernel Manager
Feature:
1. GPU OC to 835 Mhz.
2. Thanks: Hide unlocked state from @j4nn
3. Qcacld wlan driver.
4. Remove useless drivers.
5. zram to lz4.
6. Increase priority of RT thread.
7. AVB flag removed.
8. WireGuard support.
9. Disabled some logs in kernel.
10. Newer CAF buff and Linux version.
11. Cpufreq and drm drivers optimization.
12. Schedutil optimization.
13. Energy model improved.
14. New I/O governor (Maple & Zen)
15. Blu_schedutil CPU governor( More Powersave ) Need to enable manually
16. IOsched optimization.
17. DTS eagle driver.
18. KLAPSE Color manager. Need EX kernel Manager
19. boeffla_wl_blocker supported.
20. adrenoboost supported, disable it by default.
21. etc..
How to flash:
HTML:
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Vbmeta.img see Attach Files
If there is a dtbo.img, then:
HTML:
fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
I provide a new thermal configuration, see Attach Files, download it and replacing the same file in vendor/etc. You will get the full performance of SDM845.

It's the stock kernel
Completely incompatible with the SODP project
Thank you for this! I got a slight increase in Antutu benchmark score, especially in GPU and UX tests. Hide unlock status is also working, Sony started to send me updates for system apps. Been using for an hour and it's smooth af. will update this comment if I encounter any issues or other improvements in longer term.

No, you can't, but I will provide a version for xz2c after source code is updated to latest.
You could upload the boot.img of xz2c. I need it. Because I don't want to download the whole FTF firmware of XZ2c. It's too large.

Nice, I wanted to look into TWRP at weekend
You could try to set
ro.debuggable=1
ro.adb.secure=0
Or build an -eng TWRP.

Done, try V1.5 please.
Does the kernel already include magisk?
Edit: V1.7 crashed device after boot, gives the warning there's an internal problem with your device then reboots.

After crash go into Fastboot mode and flash the working kernel back (with magisk)
Then the device boots and you get the files
Just don't boot one time too much or the pstore will be wiped.
