Proper unlock request message reason - Xiaomi Mi 5s Questions & Answers

I've read that Xiaomi my reject your request for unlock of device. I've applied for the unlock two days ago but I really don't know where to check its status? And basically there shouldn't be any specific reason why one would want to unlock bootloader unless they're trying to install third party ROM? If one writes the reason as being I would like to install Xiaomi.eu ROM on my device that Xiaomi would strait off reject it or not? Because mainly that's what I would like to do until Xiaomi releases sources (if they do) at which point many will move to other ROMs (CM etc.). So.
Questions:
What kind of good reason may someone have to unloack bootloader so that unlock will be accepted without issues?
Where can one check unlock request status?
If one unlocks bootloader and then flashes official ROM (which will likely lock it again), can one unlock it without additional unlock requests to Xiaomi?

1. I said I bought from Gearbest and had a shop rom installed and want to install original rom (which was true, but nobody can confirm this obviously)
2. I do not think you can check it
3. Flashing official ROM will not lock your bootloader again
I would suggest you wait a little more and if you still do not get a reply, open a new request or post in the forums.
btw, the request completion will be sent via an SMS message, nothing else.

1. Android Developer.
It worked like a charm, received the unlock code half an out later.

Unless you are flashing a fastboot rom with miflash and select the flash and lock radio button.

I wrote flash global rom. got the approval few hours later
Sent from my MI 5s Plus using Tapatalk

I said "I want to install the xiaomi.eu rom for localization."
3 hours later they approved the request.

Thanks guys. I got permission to unlock after about 4 days. I suppose they had a bit more work after Black Friday so it took them a bit longer than usual.
But of all the reasons you're mentioned I think the best one is I'm an Android application developer. Others related to fake ROM etc. are not as viable as I'm pretty confident they know exactly which ROM you're using on which device the moment you sign in with you Mi account.

Bootloader Unlocking
If any problem, If i unlock the bootloader ???
In my redmi 4 ???
Plz tell me ...

Something Emotional and Real
I got permission in 4min by giving a emotional reason like my brother flashed wrong Nougat firmware on my Redmi Note 3 and my device got bricked I need to unlock bootloader to fix it.
And got permission.

Official vs Unofficial Bootloader unlock (on Mi4C).

Hello.
I guess this is a question for the ones who are passionate about their phones, like me, more than a practical question, still, I see passionate people on this site and not only desperate ones.
I have a Mi4c, Android version 5.1 (Android 7 does not seem to allow for me to do what I do right now, I think, Xposed and what not). I applied for bootloader unlock permission, I've got it from Xiaomi yesterday.
Because this site gives such good guidance, I was able to easily unlock the bootloader before the official permission arrived.
What I ask you is this, does it make sense to (re)lock my bootloader via adb (and maybe flash a fastboot ROM) so that I can unlock the bootloader officially? As you know, the permission expires after a while, so it's now or never.
Right now my phone is working perfectly, TWRP, Globe ROM, Xposed. . .perfect.
What do you think, any advantages on unlocking officially?
Thank you.

I need help. I can't unlock my bootload,Who has an unofficial method?

I tried every possible way to unlock my mi6, but they all failed, including the international version, the Chinese version, I want to use the third-party rom and root, but I can't unlock my device so that I can't brush in recovery, I tried to force brush in recovery, but my mi 6 can't start, so I want to ask if there is any unofficial way to help me solve the problem of unlocking bootload, please don't tell me to use the official tools, because I tried. Who has an unofficial way to help me, thank you
AFAIK there's no unofficial bootloader unlock for the Mi 6 now.
You might get one eventually but it is unlikely since even though the three days waiting sucks it does work...
What was not working on the unlock?
Did you bind the account on your phone and then wait three days (minimum) and then use the unlock tool (latest version)?
If not then try again.
Give us more information and we can help you.

All I have tried, before this, I have a mi5, I think I should know how to unlock, it should not be my problem, unlock tool tips I did not bind, but I was bound state, I tried Kind of version fails, the same problem, my account already has permission, I think there are unofficial mys5 bootload method, I think mi6 may also exist, so I come to ask you a solution? In fact, there is a region in our country can be solved by mail bootload but need to pay, I do not want to pay do not want to mail. So to ask
First. flash the Chinese development rom,
and then unlock

At which point you failed?
1. Failed on 99% unlock tool?
2. Failed to get the system unlock on Developer Options (the error appear as toast and say something like "10008 参数错误 请参考API文档") ?
If it's #2, then you must connect to any VPN server that is located in Mainland China (Beijing/Shanghai).
If it's #1, then you most likely have to wait 72 hours after you receive your unlock permission from your SMS.
I've just unlocked Mi Mix 2 2 weeks ago. The difference I noticed from when I unlocked my Mi6 is that I need to connect to VPN server in China. Half a year ago, I don't need to do that.

Please HELP to unlock BootLoader - nothing works, looking for unofficial method

Hello there,
I've searched through all the googles and i can't seem to be able to unlock my mi 5S
Bought a half dead phone, glitchy screen and bad battery. Purchased new parts and had them installed.
Phone came with unlocked BL and lineage OS, but i f-ed it up by flashing a miui rom that locked the BL.
Then I found out the phone was actually bound to an existing MI account, so I cannot unlock it with the official tool.
Phone is in edl mode, i tried searching for an unlocked emmc_appsboot.mbn but no luck.
Can anyone please advise how to unofficialy unlock the bootloader?
I'm about to sell it for parts as I've been trying to fix it for the past week ... :crying:
Not sure if there is a way, because that way could also be used for a stolen device...
My suggestion is that you contact your seller and ask him for his Xiaomi account or that he deletes the phone from his account.
Weird thing though, the phone does not get locked if you just flash an official ROM. You specifically have to choose "flash + lock" in the official flashing application to have it locked again.

I've been emailing with xiaomi support, gave them all the details. Maybe I can convince them to remove the account.
Before flashing i was checking online on how to do it with miflash tool but i missed the radio buttons and default was clean and lock ..
After a few documents submitted through [email protected] they have removed the unknown mi account.
To conclude, I have not found any way of unlocking the bootloader except for the official way.
Also, be careful when flashing with miflash, don't lock your phone by mistake.
Ah great that it worked!

Is Mi Unlock really needed to unlock bootloader?

I have searched for a very long time how to unlock the bootloader to this phone. What I came across was the proper way to unlock the bootloader, using Xiaomi's unlocking service. This way tends to take around a week to actually unlock your phone. I am far too impatient for this and have yet to find a better option to get my phone's bootloader unlocked. Is there any better way to do this?

No, you'll have to be patient.
For some reason, mine came unlocked. I bought it from the Xiaomi Ali express store.
I want to buy this phone but am wary because of my past experience with Huawei's locked bootloader, and their requirement to go through them to unlock; which they discontinued right after I bought the damn thing!
This required a payment (about $25 iirc) to a third party in order to get an unlock code.
Is this something I should be worried about with Xiaomi phones?

This shouldn't be a concern for now. Xiaomi isn't planning to restrict unlocking the bootloader. Another thing you should consider is that Redmi note 8 pro gets easily bricked by flashing custom twrp, magisk, etc. but it's not easily recovered as it requires xiaomi authorised account.

Thanks for that info! I'm thinking I'll go with my other phone choice, as I like to mess around with all that stuff, and custom ROMs.
Can someone explain how is it possible that after unlocking the phone and rooting,it still shows my phone is locked and secured?

You are using the stock rom, right? This is a false alarm. If you can flash modules and edit system files you are rooted for sure.

That's a serious red flag. Make sure you flash every possible firmware from the stocks here...
But if I were you, I'd return it and get it retail properly. Ali Express is notorious for vendors that put spyware and other ****e on their phones prior to shipping.
I got a proper Redmi Note 5 Plus (Vince) once, and retail was supposed to have a locked bootloader in the same fashion as this phone. On Redmi 5, however, there was an even cooler known problem where they would keep people's bootloaders locked, but flash malicious firmware using a testbed by taking the phones apart. So people would receive their Redmi 5's from Ali Express bugged and they would have to wait out those weeks to unlock it and flash clean images.
On an unrelated note, I did use an exploit on that MIUI version by creating two accounts, logging off, signing off, I don't remember. But I unlocked the bootloader the day I got my Vince. I'm not sure if this will work anymore. Not that I needed to. Again, I would never get a phone of Ali Express.

I don't know about spyware but they mainly unlock the bootloader on china variant to flash the global rom and sell it as a global variant. Later the user receives an update notification and installs the update and voala you get your device bricked.

Yes, once in a while they do it just for the sake of putting on a "better" ROM. Some of those Ali Express Note 5's reportedly came with even beta ROMs.
I'm saying just to exercise caution, is all. But a different ROM that would receive the wrong OTA sounds just as bad. I've never even thought about that scenario...

Fortunately, that has not been the case and I've been able to install several updates to the global rom since purchasing.

Question New Device Setup Questions

Waiting for Pad 5 to arrive, in meantime was looking around and had few questions.
From what the seller posting said, it is china version with bootloader unlocked to flash global rom.
Since you need to link a Mi account to the device to unlock the bootloader, is there a way to unlink the account the seller used to flash the global rom without access to the account they used? This is just to remove the seller completely from device. (Maybe since it's already unlocked it's not needed? Idk I'm new to most of this)
Even if it's a minuscule chance of seller installing some malicious programs, is a reset through device settings enough to return it to factory/stock or is it better to re-flash global/another AOSP rom.
Thanks in advance.
Received the tablet, will answer my own questions
There was no MI account already logged in like I had thought and someone on reddit mentioned it as well in the comments. But like the store page mentioned, bootloader was already unlocked so I still think seller account was used SOMEWHERE. I think only way to fully check would be to re-lock bootloader (using china rom) then go through the unlocking process using your own account. I'm not that paranoid to do that though.
I did try resetting to factory through the settings app, no asking for password of any sort appeared liked I thought might appear (iCloud lock). In the end, I ended up flashing the latest version of the global rom anyways instead of doing the OTA update. It came with V13.0.4.0 RKXMIXM global firmware.
Now I'm trying out MIUI to see if I like it enough or I might flash ArrowOS/any of the other AOSP roms that support this tablet.
