Unfortunately i still have to get it

The lack of 4G is a little bothersome., but considering that most of the world here is on 4G, the 3G network remains relatively uncongested, so it's fast enough.
Has anyone got theirs and are able to comment on the software side of things? I gather it will be packed with bloat possibly vendor spyware...

So guys how does this phone hold up? . Also found the post how to root it so it seems like a really good phone for the price There's also a Leagoo M8 Pro version already out now so it will be interesting how that one stacks up against the original one.

The M8 Pro looks to be much better though, better CPU/GPU (MT6737 instead of MT6580), 4G Support, etc...

Does anyone know what the price would be for the M8 Pro?

It's listed for 101$.

Hm if its gonna run for around 100 EU then its better to spend tiny more and get Xiaomi Redmi 4 way better specs and even better support...

I have to agree with you, unless it will feature a better CPU, minimum MT6737T. (that is also the minimum required to support the dual camera feature)

The only reason I bought a Leagoo M8 was because it offered better specs than Xiaomi at this price point. Once you get up to Redmi Note 3 pricing, then it makes it very hard to compete against. LineageOS 14.1 is beautiful.
Question to those who have received your package already - does the package include a TPU case? The last phone I bought at this price (Homtom HT7) included one, but I did want to check before I buy a separate one.

Price drop. It's listed for 84 USD now and labeled "global first batch" from the AliExpress seller (the only seller at the moment found via Kimovil). It will ship in April. Likely that's why none of the big B2C sellers haven't listed it yet.

Actually I wanted to, but now it seems to be hard get my hands on one. Most shops for some unknown reason do not recommend this model.
I know that GearBest have it in stock. As I've been looking at it. Out of interest what phone would you recommend most out of the ones your reviewed? I currently edging towards the Jiayu S3 Advanced (3gb version). But I've read that apparently it comes with malware installed on it. Have you come across this?

No I didn't have malware on mine, and if I had, I would just root the phone and remove the malware. But yeah the S3 is definitely a good choice.

That was exactly what I thought. Plus the S3 comes pre-rooted anyway, so you just have to enable it in the settings. It couldn't be any easier really. The only issue I'm having now is deciding where to buy it from. I've only ever used Merimobiles before. But I've read good things about Banggood and GearBest. Which would you recommend?

Now From the official article you can see this, but I guess the $89 is not include the sihpping fees
UMi Rome Is A $89 Smartphone With MT6753 & 3GB of RAM
UMi is known for making value for money smartphones and this is evident from its recent releases like the UMi Iron Pro and the UMi Hammer S. Now, the company is going to take things to a whole new level with its brand new device, called as the UMi Rome. This latest release from the company will bring the best specifications that we have seen on a phone under $100.
The UMi Rome will feature the fast MT6753 octa-core chip clocked at 1.3GHz. This is the same chip that powers most other mid-range flagships in the market under $200. Along with the powerful processor, the company has included 3GB of RAM. Yes, you heard it right! The phone will indeed feature 3GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage to make sure that you no longer have to settle for slow smartphones at a budget price.
As for the display, the UMi Rome will feature a large 5.5-inch screen with 1280 x 720p resolution. With this display, you are sure to enjoy watching movies and playing games on the device. At the back, there will be a 13MP Sony IMX164 sensor with dual LED flash. What makes the UMi Rome even more interesting is the presence of an LED flash up front aiding its 2MP shooter. It will surely attract a lot of selfie lovers to this device.
The phone is also pretty compact, measuring just 7.9mm in thickness. Inside this body, you get a 2500mah battery that's large enough to last an entire day. Finally, the Rome will run on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
As you can see, these are great specs for a phone that costs just $89.99. In fact, this budget device can take on the so called flagships like Cubot X15 and Ulefone Paris in a number of areas.

Touch Screen has 2 point touch , not AMOLED screen ( IPS as others ) , no backlit keys and no notification LED , LCD backlight with some problems of the lower left/right side ) . 4G bands all , supersu / root factory , main camera sony imx164 8mpixel f / 2.4 ( interpolated to 13 ) double LED flash and secondary gc2355 2Mpixel f / 2.8 ( interpolated 5 ) with flash front for selfie .Tendency to overheat after less than 10 minutes of play ( asphalt 8 ) cpu temperature to 60 ° and the rear area near the camera very hot . Cover very skippery and capture fingerprints, good build quality .Presence of Compass and then orientation sensor ( very rare ) and compatible OTG without problems .Now battery test ( for the moment seems to hold more than two hours of screen on the 52 % of the battery )
my ROME rom is 8th december.
Pre rooted and full working OTG.
Also tested 4G and works correctly Band 20 800Mhz and Band 7 2600Mhz (Italian carrier TIM)
now i'm testing the device..
Only disappointed by 2 points tocuh (so low speed and precision in fast typing) .. and screen quality non perfect..

Xiaomi Max Hands on, Screen, Antutu, Battery, Camera Review and MIUI 8 Test

Xiaomi Max has finally released today. This smartphone has 6.44inch as we expected before, i guess many mi fans has started to wait for its official sale. Right now i will make a review about this Xiaomi Max. Then you will see if it’s worth to buy.
Xiaomi Max Antutu test:
This time Xiaomi Max has leaked the news that it will have 6.4inch 1080p display, and it is powered by Snapdragon 652 Octa core 1.5Ghz, and it will provide RAM 2GB ROM 16GB internal storage. Many users think it will be xiaomi max lower version.

Watch Xiaomi Max Battery Test VS iPhone 6s plus, Huawei P8 MAX:
Watch Xiaomi Max design:
Until now, GeekBench has leaked the latest antutu test score. It shows it has RAM 3GB, it seems it will be powered by MSM8952 processor, similar to the Snapdragon 617 processor of HTC One A9. But Xiaomi max show snapdragon hexa core 1.4Ghz processor. Therefore, it will be powered by Snapdragon 650 processor probably.
Xiaomi Max Review:
Leijun claims that Xiaomi has 6.44inch screen which has been thought twice. Because 6inch screen is not enough to make us amazed. 6.8inch or 7inch screen is too big to hold in one hand.
Xiaomi Max is the one that can be put in the pocket and it is good for your eyes to chase the tv plays, go shopping, play games, watch GPS, do office work. Xiaomi Max has also used all metal body and thin design. 2.5D glass, 7.5mm body design have nice handing feeling with one hand although it’s a little large.
In addition, MIUI has optimized single-hand pattern, floating ball, especially for Xiaomi Max.
In this conference, Xiaomi Max has three colors, gold, silver and grey. and it has confirmed to be powered by Snapdragon 650/652 processor. RAM 4GB ROM 128GB, 5MP front camera, 16mp back camera. It has back fingerprint scanner, dual sim card, dual standby, VoLTE. It’s built in 2in 3 sim card slot expansion to 128GB. In addition, Xiaomi max has 4850mAh big battery. It can watch video in 14 hours according to the official.
Xiaomi Max started to preorder tonight. And it will sell at least 100,000 units next Tuesday only for 32GB version, 64GB version has not released the selling date. There are three versions, Snapdragon 652 + 128 gb + 4 gb gb sold 1999 yuan, Snapdragon 652 + 64gb + 3gb configuration sell 1699 yuan, 3gb + 32gb + configuration to the sale 650 yuan to 1499 yuan.
MIUI 8 :
Xiaomi has also released MIUI8 OS. Before it, Leijun has shared MIUI news that over 0.2 billion people has used MIUI, and it has become the most active users in android smartphone. Leijun thinks Xiaomi smartphone and MIUI have become the new generation mobile Internet platform. MIUI will release the developer version on June 17 which can be likely to support the models after Xiaomi mi2.

For those following my reviews you will notice that this one (and all other that might be released in the future) is different. Why? I don't want my reviews to be all the same anymore, so i am adopting this new format that is shorter, easier to read and without lots of photos.
Similar to some previous devices released by DOOGEE, also this one comes in a eco-friendly packaging with the essentials to use the device (charger, USB cable) but includes an extra plastic screen protector. Considering the battery size i would have expected at least an OTG cable included in the box.
Thanks to the rubber/TPU chassis, the device feels really "soft" in the hand with a perfect grip even though it isn't so compact neither light (253g). Luckily, DOOGEE chose to keep the headphone jack on this device but in the same time they kept the old Micro-USB connector. It appears that nowadays all Chinese companies won't provide both things (Type-C + 3.5mm Headphone Jack) so...
Another confusing choice is the screen panel resolution, only HD+ (1440x720) instead of FHD+. Still, it is not a bad panel, with an excellent brightness and reasonably accurate colors, but considering the powerful Helio P23 a FHD+ panel wouldn't have been overkill for sure.
As regards the software, it runs on Android Nougat 7.1 (Oreo Update coming soon?) with no bloatware preinstalled. The low-res screen helps to keep the OS running super smooth due to the lower demand of resources, probably the fastest Mediatek device i have ever tested.
The device is GMS-certified and passes all SafetyNet tests. No viruses/malwares have been detected.
Of course it would have been unrealistic to see a lack of bugs on a Mediatek Device (sadly), and here is one. Lots of apps from the Play Store report the device as incompatible for some unknown reasons. Other than that, everything is perfect.
As regards its performance, as already said before, it is blazing fast considering the Mediatek SOC, and benchmarks are also quite positive.

Excellent GPS Signal in both cases, indoors (left) and outdoors (right).
Average 4G signal reception with decent speeds, and the same applies to 3G networks. Unfortunately there is no WiFi AC support, but in WiFi N-mode 5GHz i am able to get the maximum speed from my internet connection.
Breaking news for Mediatek Devices followers. This S50 features a REAL dual camera, but only on the front. They do not work together, but one of them is wide-angle. Unfortunately, the back camera remains single, no real second camera sensor there. Still better than nothing, hopefully this odd marketing will end soon.
Anyway, the back camera is an OmniVision 16MP sensor that provides some decent shots, definitely superior compared to the messy Samsung 16MP found on some other devices, but i can notice a minor lack of focus. Here you can see some sample photos, others available on imgur directly.
Last, but not least, battery life. As already said for some other Helio P23 devices reviewed in the past, this SOC is really power-efficient compared to previous gen SOCs from Mediatek. Sure, the battery capacity is not low either, 5180mAh of declared battery capacity, but the hardware has to be optimized in order to use that capacity in the best way possible, and on this device it is perfect, near Qualcomm-based devices power efficiency.
The DOOGEE S50, really hard to say whether it can be considered as a S60 lower-tier device or not. The Helio P23 is slightly less powerful than a P25, and compared to the S60 it lacks Wireless Charging and NFC, but everything else is, in my opinion, superior. A 18:9 screen, decent cameras, great battery life, it is one of the best, if not THE BEST, rugged device i have ever tested, even though there are some confusing, and odd, choices like the lack of Type-C and the low-res screen.
I really hope to see Android Oreo, why not even with Treble support, coming in the next few months. It would be a pity to see a device with such a great potential, not receiving something essential in Q2 2018. DOOGEE, you can do it!
Recommended, as long as you are not a Type-C only geek
Device Rating: 9
Pros: Excellent Performance; Great Battery Life; High-End Build Quality
Cons: No Type-C; No WiFi AC; HD+ only screen
Hi, Can anyone please help in providing offline update of Doogee S50. When I install the updates the mobile boot ups and error message comes. Also RAM is showing as 4GB instead of 6GB, looks like software bug....
Did:
1) settings > app > wireless update >storage > clear data and cache. Then reboot and try update again.
2) At reboot get "dead droid" with "Error".
It has been like this since the update was available from the OTA server. When will this be fixed?
Thanks.
Facing issues with the S50 screen since mid-July. The device has not been dropped or submerged in water.
I hope this is just an isolated issue but it is something you must be aware of.

Review
Unboxing
Accessories included with the CUBOT King Kong 3 are just standard, with a Type-C USB Cable, 5V up to 9V MTK Pump Express Charger, a SIM Card Eject Tool and nothing else. Unlike all Type-C devices you see on the market, this device, that doesn't feature an 3.5mm Headphone Jack, does not even include an adapter so you need to buy it separately hoping that it will work. Why? I have no idea to be honest, odd marketing choice i guess.
Materials
As expected from CUBOT, the device feels quite premium with a rubberized (or soft-TPU) body and metal sides for some structural rigidity, typical for IP68 Rugged smartphones.
The Type-C port is standard, with no cable compatibility issues, well-engineered.
I would have appreciated to see slimmer bezels, too much wasted space on the front.
Connectivity
5.0GHz WiFi Networks (802.11n only) are supported with a sufficient signal strength.
Dual 4G is also supported (but not 100% stable yet based on my testing, drops to 3G/2G frequently) and i haven't faced any reception issues.
No LTE Carrier Aggregation (to reach up to 300mbps in 4G+ aka CAT-6) is enabled here (and can't be enabled manually).
Software and Performance
The device ships with Android Oreo 8.1 and, using the latest OTA update, security patches are dated November 2018, as recent as they should be. The OS is clean, with no bloatware, and the included Google Suite is complete.
Nothing to complain about system performance, the HD+ only screen helps a lot with efficiency (no battery drain + low power consumption) and smoothness. Here you can see some benchmarks.
Camera
Unfortunately the camera is not the strongest part of this device, photos in low-light conditions feature an high amount of noise. Still, that was expected, since the back camera sensor is an old Sony IMX135 13MP that in late-2018 can be considered obsolete.
Conclusions
Considering the market that CUBOT is trying to fill this device in, this is a decent smartphone with room for improvements via software. I can recommend it to those who need a device that won't be abandoned the day after its release since, at least based on my experience with CUBOT smartphones, updates are frequent and user feedbacks are, usually, used to improve the device (like Dual 4G, it was not enabled when i got the device and via an OTA update they have enabled it).
Rating: 8-
I forgot to mention that the device is 100% Google Certified so perfectly usable with Android Pay (NFC built-in).
Is this device rootable?
I couldn't find a decent instruction how to root the King Kong 3.
For such a price - I consider that this model with such features - is optimal for the purchase, so there is no particular disadvantage, is there a large frame at the top and bottom?
On my device, the GPS is the big issue. It is hardly ever receiving a signal and therefore useless. It seems to be an Android 8.x problem on some devices, but I still didn't find a sufficent solution. I might send it back and get a different brand, like the Uleforne Armor 5. Any suggestions considering the GPS issue?
Test it 3 month
I got it from 3month, and i'm happy with it?
4days battery, look will up to date, solid hardware, military ip68 rugged building.
Camera isn't best but sound enought for me.
I cannot find any easy rooted way, but its 8.1 stock on it, and i can delete useless Google apps, with simple ADB.
Otherwise, GPS works good after 1 minute luncher gpsnavy.
Borders top and bottom are 2cm long....
My opinion it's the best price/quality deal from now.
This is the worst device anyone can buy
After couple months purchasing this device started to have problems apps crashing and sometimes the app that crash made device reboot so after tried sp flash tools to reflash device the radio signal started to degrade eventually it couldn't read the Sim card correct anymore even shows the baseband and imei correctly. That last time I ever purchasing anything from China.
