[Apps] HTC Sense for Pixel - Google Pixel Themes, Apps, and Mods

So, for die hard sense nerds like myself I do miss a few key apps from my HTC M8, Rezound, and Eris phone days. But, I can't not buy a Pixel/Nexus phone. I can confirm the following apps work just fine on my new Pixel (and my Nexus 6P)
Working:
HTC Camera
HTC Gallary [and editor] (Hands down my favorite pics app; You can install this without the service pack below)
HTC Service Pack (you need this to get most of the HTC apps working)
Others have reported:
HTC Blink Feed
HTC Weather
HTC Music
I personally dont care for any other HTC Sense apps, but it's possible that the rest may work to.

Any chance the weather live wallpaper works with those apps? My most missed feature from my rezound.

I'm using the blinkfeed launcher on my pixel, you have to apply for the beta via play store. When you have done this, it is possible to install it as a regular app from the store.

Is there any way to get the HTC Tasks app to work properly on the pixel?

Thanks for this the Gallery app is great. I was looking for a good gallery app in place of the one that comes with the Pixel. This was perfect. [emoji2]

This link works for me too. But I miss the photos shown in map feature, the photos counts are showed in a blank map, does anyone have the same issue?

Gallery app not working on my Pixel 7.1.1, it installs, opens and then crashes. Could you please tell us which version you're using successfully? I'd love to have that app on my device.

[Q] HTC People/Dialler apk or zip available?

Hey guys,
Just wondering if there is a HTC People or HTC Dialler app which is extracted from the HTC ROM's either in apk format or as a zip which I can flash? I've searched the forum but not found anything - wondering if they can be extracted since I assume that they can work without HTC Sense (e.g. when using different launchers)
I want to use OpenDesire but don't like the stock Android contacts/dialler.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hey, you can use Launcher Pro for sense like widgets. Otherwise sense widgets cannot use with default launcher on froyo.

Hi - thanks for your answer - I know that I can use Launcher Pro etc but what i'm really interested in is the actual phone app and the contacts app which are on the HTC ROM's. When using a Sense ROM, if i change launcher to, for example, Launcher Pro, then i can still use the HTC Phone and Contacts app - thats what i'm after on a non-Sense ROM.
The only sense integration is with Facebook Sync I think - which I could live without.
there is no option using sense widgets on froynly with launcher pro but i dont like it,i like sense widgets but i dont like sense, only widgets that i like.
I like to know if there's a way too, I don't like android's contacts\dialer either.
As far as I'm aware, the HTC dialler and phone .apk are too deeply integrated with sense to work as a standalone app on non-sense roms. Simply removing the apk won't work.

Cheers Rolfd - that would explain why no one has done it!
Does anyone know of any alternatives which offer smart dialling by typing in the name, etc?
Market: Dialer One
You could try Dialer One on the market.
Edit: I'm too slow!
Thanks guys - I'll try Dialler One on my next visit to Senseless Froyo!
Dialer one is the best in the market I think as a replacement for HTC's dialer however you could also check out "NubDial" some people prefer that.

No, not without installing HTC Sense first. You're probably better off with a Sense ROM like LeeDroids.
Try LauncherPro - If you like it, unlock the Plus features ($2.99)
The plus features have widgets that look and act like the Sense widgets, including:
- Facebook
- Twitter
- Friends (Like FriendStream)
- Messaging
- People
- Bookmarks
It's great. And there are mods, so if you want to there's the possibility of making the widgets transparent, blue and so on.
I am not interested in all HTC Widgets. After reading different reviews I came to know that it eats battery and memory. However, I really liked the way HTC manages the Contacts. Mulitple social accounts linked at one place. I tried to find some decent app for that but didn't like any.

HTC app on sense 8...where are they?

Hi there!
As far as U have seen, HTC 10 is a hyge hardware device but it comes with only standard Google apps pre-installed. So HTC Sense interface is basically disappeared from the phone.
Considering how much better HTC apps are compared to Google standard apps, it's a huge shame having such a great phone on hardware level running on standard google base system. People have always had hate for custom interface but they don't know what are they saying if they consider everything as a third-party apps, the evil. There are 2 different situations, one thing is customisation of network operator which install useless and buggy application, another thing is manufacturer applications, which in the case of HTC, have always been better than the standard Google applications since the beginning of android. So having no HTC apps on the sense 8 is a great loss. My question is: it will still possible to install all HTC apps on the play store of sense interface on the new sense 8?
By the way I have an HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera and I'm currenlty on sense 7 and android 5, well if sense 8 will be with google standard apps only, I hope that the update to Android 6.0 for my device will keep sense 7.0 interface. I want to use HTC apps.
I think this is a welcomed change. Simpler, faster updates, faster phone... But I do think I saw somewhere that you could install the applications from the play store. Worst case just port them over, there are so many mods that allows you to port to other phones I bet it would be easy to move it over to the 10.

I think that if you go looking to the quality of HTC apps compared to standard google apps, there is no match. If someone want a standard and free Android interface, then buy a nexus phone which is excellent. If I buy an HTC, I want a customized Android experience, at least this is my opinion. Having to struggle with MOD it's second hand option and also if HTC won't develop its apps in the future it would be impossible to do.

That's your opinion, I see very little to no difference. If this is a deal breaker for you, protest... and buy from LG or samsung. I find the google versions are more than adequate for all I need. I love that more manufacturers are going to this style, faster updates and a more streamline approach. They can add their best features to the device and keep it fast. Give it time before you protest them, you may like the change. If not you have 14 days
Well, on HTC One M8 running HTC 10 ported ROM I could easily download all the missing HTC apps from the Play Store. So, no actual difference from Sense 7 roms.
Maybe on the real HTC 10 your experience will be different.
you know if you have the apks of the older apps you can still install them right?

Yes it's my opinin but I still think that if you want standard google interface you can buy a Nexus or maybe HTC can realese the Google edition phone like it did in the past.
By the way I have recently swtich from an HTC One S with sense 4 to an HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera and sense 7 (also blinkfeed is nice) but I do miss some widgets from HTC (like gallery widget, bookmark widget and colored meteo widget).

It was a business decision and sadly if you hate it then you'll have to keep you M9 or buy something else. Some of us are excited about it and who knows you may grow to love it. Or maybe they will regret it and put it back in an update.
As far as some reviews said it will still be possible to download all HTC Apps from PlayStore and thus install them on the new HTC 10. In fact it is wrong that they are better than the respective Google Apps, as they are just GUI modded Google Apps.
Only App I wouldn't download is HTC Gallery App, as I read that it interferes with the new HTC Camera App, as the later one has been optimized to work with Google Pictures App.

I don't understand people sometimes. This information has been a talking point of almost every general review of the new phone. It took OP longer to ask here and wait for an answer then to just Google it! Save yourself some time and Google it first.

Google Photos, in my opinion, is only good for photo editing. A standalone gallery is sorely missing from Android. Hell, I still use a pre-CM owned version of QuickPic instead of Google Photos.

Stock Google Dialer - no ringing, no loudspeaker

Hi,
Today I've received my HTC 10 and I'm trying to get the 'nearest Nexus experience'. There was no problems with either Now Launcher or Keyboad, but I have some problems with Dialer. The app itself was installed from Play Store (com.google.android.dialer), so no sideloading was necessary. The installed version is 2.05.07_rc4. I've given it all permissions (with settings ones), change default dialer and everything is working except ringing and loudspeaker. I can dial a number, answer a call, talk. There are all notifications.
I've tried sideloading different versions form apkmirror. 2.3.17 fails to install (no necessary libraries), 3.00.04_rc4 installs but crashes. I've also sideloaded Contacts - no problems there.
Can someone had similar problems? Maybe on different phone?
Thanks for any help.
Karol
That's weird. When I go to the Play Store, it tells me the Google Dialer is not compatible with my HTC 10. Also, the version on the store is 2.3.17, how come you have 2.05.07_rc4 ? Which country are you in? (I'm in the US) Why is it a release candidate (I assume the rc part at the end is for that)?
I've tried installing from apkmirror (2.3.17 and 3.00.04_rc4) and the same happens to me; first one doesn't want to install and the latter crashes.
I'm trying as well to make my 10 resemble my former Nexus, so if anyone knows how to make this Google Dialer app work, please, post it here.
Thanks!
I had the same problem. Not sure which version. I ended up going back to the horrible HTC dialler
I also had a problem with the alarm in the google clock app. The alarm tone I selected always seemed to be the default rather than the custom selected one.
I don't know what HTC have done with their firmware. It's been a pretty good experience other than those issues though.

Give the google clock permissions for disk access and it will then be able to use custom "ringtones". This is a common Marshmallow issue. Try giving the google dialer full permissions and see if that fixes your other issues.

I'm in Poland. And yes, Google Play installs 2.05.07_rc4. It's also available from ApkMirror (apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-release/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-android-apk-download)
As for the phone - I gave up. It's already sold. All reviewers almost promised the Nexus experience, but it's far from it. It's not like Moto phones, where they take stock Android and add some of their features. It's all rebuild. The quick settings look similar yet different. The same thing is with the settings. Some (Many?) dialogs have Sense not Material look. The typography is wrong. It still is Roboto, but the weights are used differently.
Stock Android is beautiful. Everything is in place, everything works as expected. Sense (8 is it?) look like HTC tried to rebuild/upgrade previous version to look Material. They failed. I'm back to my old Nexus 5.
Ps. One hint about the dialer. When you place a call, two icons appear in the notification bar. One from Google Dialer, one from HTC Dialer. So the built in one is still active, also you can't disable the Contacts/Dialer app. Maybe it's HTC bug and should by reported?
Karol
Sounds weird.
I couldn't install the contacts or dialer through google play, but sideloaded the apks and no problem once I gave the permissions.
The phone rings and loudspeaker is functional.
No issues or bugs so far.
Edit: The HTC dialer does show in the notification, and in the default app I selected the google dialer.
The phone doesn't ring either but I do have loudspeaker during a call.
For me the only part I care about is the dialer. I have the dialer installed and when I call it launches HTC phone app. I get the nice features of search but no bugs. So far it has worked nicely

I got that setup to work like that as well, but I don't like the htc phone app taking over the call. I have Google voice + carrier number on the same phone and the Google phone app lets me know if I'm dialing with Google voice or with my carrier number.

Why did HTC feel the need to restrict the access to the phone's dialing functions? (rethorical question)

I tried this earlier today and the new RC9 won't even install for me. No errors, just a failed message after a brief wait. I tried uninstalling the RC8 first but no change.

I got the same thing on other apps. You have to go into permissions to allow it to modify system settings. I don't remember exactly where it is but since the app never rings I uninstalled it.

Getting HTC Sense 9 Launcher working

Hi guys I want to combine the advantages of the fast system updates of the Pixel 2 XL and the Launcher of HTC Sense 9. On my Note 8 the launcher works just fine with the newsfeed. On the Pixel 2 XL its also working but I cant get the News Republic App working that is needed to get the newsfeed filled up. The News Republic App on the Playstore is working fine and not crashing but its not usable on the Sense Homescreen.
Maybe someone can fix that?
The Sense 9 Launcher and Apps could be downloaded here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...blinkfeed-plugins-devices-08-03-2015-t3049438
Only problem I'm having with this launcher is that it doesn't stretch all the way down when I'm using immersive mode. Huge black bar at the bottom
I'd like that app/shortcut wheel to pop-up when I squeeze, like the U11+

Sounds cool but let me ask you this; does that apk need to be a system app to work properly? I would think it would, kind of like how GNL needed to be a system app in order for the Now pane to work on other devices.
Magisk has that App Systemizer module... maybe give that a shot?

Wasn't working either. News Republic is still force closing all the time even as a system app. I also tested it by converting all sense apps as system apps.
Maybe Android 8.1 is the problem why it's not working
hi guys.
Just switched from HTC to the Pixel 2 XL and the one thing I really loved about HTC is Sense.
I downloaded the modules but having issues:
- Installing HtcSenseHome - v9.14.929638 via Astro fails with no details; everything else gets installed
- The clock and weather widget does not detect the current location; HtcLocationServicesSetting - v1.02.636275 and LocationPicker - v3.20.817412 are installed
Any idea?
