Unlocking your phone doesn't change much
ROOT:
Get these files first: Samsung USB Drivers, TWRP, SuperSU, and ODIN (select version 3.12.3). Extract ODIN.
Next, make sure OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging is turned on in the developer settings (go to settings -> about device -> build number and tap it 7-8 times)
Boot your s6 egg into download mode by turning your phone off, and holding down power button + home button + volume down button. Plug your phone into your computer. Open up Odin, and put the TWRP tar file into AP. Press Start, and as soon as PASS shows up, your device should reboot.
Move the SuperSU zip onto your device, and then turn off your phone.
Now boot it into recovery (power+home+volume up and hold), and TWRP should load up. Select Install, and navigate to where you put the SuperSU file. Tap on it, and swipe to flash the file. After it runs through, reboot your phone by selecting reboot from the menu. It may boot several times, but you should be good to go. This root method works 95% of the time ( I used it and it's good)
If you want to flash a custom kernel and/or ROM, go to their respective XDA threads for specific instructions.
sir thanks for the reply one last question. I'm using other carrier, specifically i'm not in the United States, i can well use my phone like an unlocked one. Is there a chance that if i mod this one it would lock itself? thanks

SIM Unlocks are specific to a device, not it's operating system. Flashing a custom ROM will not remove the SIM lock. You world have to either use the T-Mobile device unlock app or use another application to network unlock your device.
hands down easy to follow rooting sir! thank yoso much for the help. just to verify what custom rom are you using? if any

Hey guys, I decided to update the thread in hopes of clearing confusion.
Currently I've found two methods of rooting that seem to help people.
Method 1 - E.K IT Services: ekitservices.com currently run by senior member @djerick3 *Not a sponsorship*
Method 2 - CF-Auto Root: Very simple and easy to use, all you need a:
Windows PC (7 - 10)
USB Cable
Step 1 - Download CF-Auto Root for the SM-G920P.
Step 2 - Using either adb (adb reboot download) or hardware keys (turn the device off and hold in Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button once prompted, press Volume Up)
Step 3 - Plug the device into the PC and open the included Odin in the CF-Auto zip
Step 4 - Click the "AP" button and choose the included md5 file
Step 5 - Make sure to check the "Option(s)" tab and make sure only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are checked. Then switch back to the main tab and press start.
Step 6 - Wait as CF-Auto Root will begin to boot and root, note that the process can take while. Upon rebooting you should have the SuperSU app (Note. If its not there, you can find it HERE)
Step 6 - Enjoy
< ----- Optional - TWRP Install ------ >
As of right now, current TWRP releases are not working on marshmallow. Lucky though @ram9200 created a custom version of the tool that should work
Step 1 - Download the TWRP Tar file
Step 2 - Boot back into Odin mode and flash via Odin on your PC (use the "AP" tab once more)
Hope this helps:good: as always though, of you need help feel free to to send me a PM

To do this, you will need:
TWRP (This is a special version only for the Sprint SM-G920P and is meant to be flashed with Odin)
SuperSU 2.68
Odin
Steps)
1) Boot your device into download/odin mode (adb reboot download) or (while the device is off hold home+power+volume down then you will be taken to a light blueish screen saying "Warning", just press volume up)
2) Once your device is in download/odin mode, plug it into your windows PC and open Odin then in odin, click the "AP" button then find where you downloaded the TWRP .tar and press start
3) After that, your device should reboot into the system, if present use "adb reboot recovery" if you don't have adb, turn the device off and hold home+power+volume up and your should get some red text in the upper left hand corner then you should be brought to TWRP where you can flash SuperSU (to get SuperSU onto your device, you can use TWRP's built in MTP function or use adb, I recommend using adb but TWRP's MTP is also good (to enable MTP, click on the "mount" button then make sure to tap the "Cache","Data" and "System" buttons, if your PC does not detect the device, tap "Disable MTP" then tap "Enable MTP". Then your device should be detected where you can then move SuperSU to your device and flash it,

Help
Same issue here. when recovery is booted. blue update screen then original recovery. OEM is on
---------- Post added at 05:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 AM ----------
im getting the blue updateing as well. then goes to original recovery/ OEM is on
unchecked the auto reboot and followed directions and am now rooted. Thanks!
This worked for me! Thank you so much!
A few modifications to the overall guide:
a. Turn on OEM unlock (I forgot to do this first)
2. Turn off auto-boot in ODIN (I needed to do this, as TWRP would not load the first time)
d. Move SuperSU zip folder to phone (same as other methods)
Now just need a good custom ROM...
I unchecked auto-boot in Odin and turned on OEM unlock, but it isn't working. I boot into download mode and apply the TWRP, but it is just stuck in download mode with the white bar at like 99% complete. It doesn't hit 100%. I forced my phone off and then booted into recovery right after and now my recovery mode is a white screen. Not really sure what to do.

Rooted my Sm-g920r4 us cellular tonight perfectly. Thank you very much. =) happy camper with 6.0.1 root now.
I was curious since it said Sprint only method but assured it rooted my us cellular just fine and everything is working. Rebooted and still have root and working twrp recovery. Thanks again.

Hello,
I am in real trouble, I bought used Note 4 thought it is an international variant as it shows in 'about device' (see snapshots) but after observing some glitches in the OS and dummy update software button, i got curious.
As a result, i installed phone info app and came to know it is basically N910P, which is spoofed to make it look like N910F variant (see snapshots). It has a buildnumber: DONGCHAO.A929 . However, the IMEI analyzer shows its N910C (see screenshots). This IMEI is matching with sticker at the back and it is written n910F at the back too. Using phone info's read imei tool shows another IMEI which is not matching with sticker and in about phone---> status menu's IMEI. So this could be the real IMEI of this phone?
So now my question is 1) can i revert back to N910P offical rom and keeping all features such as my network, 4g and hotspot features. I live outside USA btw. 2) Can i install N910P custom rom on it and keeping all features such as my network, 4g and hotspot features. just want to change this **** rom as it is very buggy
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Here are my 2 cents on the questions asked by you:
1. You can flash the stock firmware on your phone (which is basically N910P). There is a link by @LMMT for the same.
However, do note that 4G might not be available (as you mentioned that you are not from US) . This device is primarily a CDMA device. Do check with your respective operator for the frequency on which it operates.
2. You can very well install a custom ROM on it. I have a thread here on XDA by which you can easily flash Galaxy S7 ported ROM (meant for N910G & N910T variants) to your N910P.
Again, 4G might be an issue.
3. Hotspot will not work on stock ROM natively as you will not be on Sprint network. For that, you can use FoxFi or PDANet by which Hotspot works flawlessly even on Stock & non-rooted ROMs.
If you are using some custom ROMs, Hotspot will work without any issues. You will just need to enter your APNs manually before using the data on your phone.
Hope, I've cleared your majority of the doubts!
Thanks for your reply mate.
Installing a stock and custom room will not mess with my local networks right? Since i live outside usa
Also, can you please paste the links here of stock rom for n910p and s7 ported custom rom of which you are talking about.
Thanks.

In order for you to overcome the network issue, you can do following:
1. Download ODIN from the following link:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934542368
2. Once you've installed all the Samsung USB drivers (search for them on XDA), extract this zip file to any location.
3. Download TWRP from here:
https://dl.twrp.me/trltecan/
Choose only the .tar version.
3. Put the downloaded tar file of the recovery in the same location where you extracted ODIN.
4. Switch off your phone & press "Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button" simultaneously & enter the download mode. The phone will show you a message, just press the "Volume Up Button" & connect it to the PC.
5. Run ODIN as an administrator. It will show your phone in the COM Port location (It will be blue in colour). Tick the "AP" section & locate the tar file of the TWRP. In options, uncheck "Auto-Reboot". Click on START & let the process finish. DO NOT REBOOT!!
6. Now, take out the battery and leave it outside the slot for 2-3 minutes. Then, insert it back & press "Volume UP + Home Button + Power Button" simultaneously to enter the TWRP recovery.
Back up your current ROM to the external SD Card.
then go to wipe section & press "Factory reset" three times. performing the operation thrice is very important.
Then go to "Advanced Wipe" and wipe everything (except external SD Card) also three times.
7. Again power off the phone & put it under the download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power).
8. Download the stock ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/stock-tar-odin-flashable-t3250864
9. Again, download the newer version of ODIN through above thread. The steps & ODIN version are mentioned there only.
10. exit the previous ODIN & run the newer one with admin privileges. Again select "AP" in it & select the downloaded ROM location. Let ODIN read it & once it does, click on START.
11. Let the process finish without any interruption. the phone will auto-reboot after the process completion.
12. On reboot, you will get "activate your phone screen" and you can skip that by "Long pressing back button".
13. Configure your phone as per your choice.
Note: If you get any network related issues, let me know & I'll assist you there too. :good:
NOTE: I've mentioned TWRP method before flashing so that all your previous ROM version data gets cleared before flashing and you won't have any issues afterwards. However, if you want, you can straight-away proceed to the stock ROM flashing procedure but that in my opinion will not be good)

Well, there are 2 points on which I would like to draw your attention towards:
1. There's no need to quote the whole reply. Simply tagging would also serve the same purpose.
2. I'm also using a GSM SIM on N910P with a stock ROM (that is not even rooted) and there's no issue related to the network whatsoever..
You must have flashed the stock ROM (or whatever you are referring to) without proper wipes through TWRP.
Do remember, that stock ROMs are coded in a way that they might require the Sprint SIM only, but (as I mentioned above) with proper wipes, they work without a glitch. Now, there are 2 possibilities using a non-modified ROM:
a) There will not be any data. The solution to it is that you have to manually enter the APNs of your respective operator and then, the data will also work fine.
b) The hot-spot will not work (as it again is locked by Sprint). For this, the solution is to use PdaNet or FoxFi (both available on PlayStore).
Last but not the least, do ,mention the steps that you carried out (whether you wiped full or not, which ROM you were earlier using, did you try to factory reset after flashing the stock ROM,etc) so it might make troubleshooting bit easier.
Hi friends today I am going to tell you how to root note3neo lollipop stock rom. Plz follow all steps. I have successfully rooted without any problem but I have heard that some are loosing their imei. So make a backup as soon as you are in twrp. Now the process as follows.

Keep tapping the Build Number option (seven times) until it says you are a developer.
Tap the new Developer Options menu that appears.
Make sure that the USB Debugging option is checked.
2.)Power off your device, press and hold Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time until you see a Warning with a Yellow Triangle.
3.)Now press Volume Up button. Your phone now is in ODIN MODE (Download Mode).
4.)Open Odin on PC. ( Odin is available in the link zip file )
5.)UNTICK everything
6.)Connect Phone to PC using USB Cable.(You will see added message on Odin)
7.)On Odin click on PDA(till version 3.07) OR click on AP(after version 3.09)

12. Next it will boot into twrp. Now first I suggest you to make a backup.
13. Now flash the SuperSU.zip file which I have provided in the zip.
Done. Your mobile is now rooted.
. Please Thank me If Helped
Now this is for the people who want xposed.
Download the file below and extract it.

Android 9.0
Hello, when it will be possible ? If never, why ?
I followed the exact process but everytime i tried to boot into TWRP recovery immediately after the flashing, the device still boots into stock recovery instead of TWRP
Please help me with this
Thank you
I figured out a way to root the Galaxy J7 duo
Actually i have tried lot of ways to root using TWRP flash and all.. but one day i accidentally bricked my device
So i downloaded the stock ROM to flash my device
And i downloaded the 8.0 android ROM
So this root method basically tested on android 8.0
So now i have android 8.0 stock ROM downloaded
Step 1 -
So make sure you also downloaded the ROM
And extract the ROM file (you must have got the "AP" "CP" "BL" "CSC" and "HOME CSC" file)
Then copy the "AP" file in your phone
Then install magisk manager in your phone
Open magisk, select install, select and patch a file from magisk
Then select "AP" file
And wait while magisk is patching the "AP" file
When flashing is done the patched file will be saved on storage, emulated, 0, download (file will be saved as "magisk_patched.tar")
Then simply copy the patched file in your computer
Step 2 -
Open odin in your Computer
In odin, select "magisk_patched.tar" in "AP" section
Select "BL" from the stock ROM folder in the odin's "BL" section
Select "CP" from the stock ROM folder in the odin's "CP" section
Select "HOME CSC" from the stock ROM folder in the odin's "HOME CSC" section
make sure you select all the official files from the stock ROM folder... just instead of the "AP" file, select the "magisk_patched.tar"
Then connect your phone via USB cable
Odin will detect and show "added" message
Start the flashing process
It will take few minutes
When its done your phone will boot up
But it will show something like "erasing" and "verification unsuccessful"
Just agree with that and erase the phone
(It will cause a data loss because everything will be deleted and your phone will reset, so i suggest to make a backup using samsung smart switch)
Then when your phone will reboot, just follow the steps to setup
Amd install magisk latest apk
Open magisk and boom!
You can already realize that magisk root is activated
Amd magisk will ask you to "setup environment"
Just agree and your phone will reboot withing 5 seconds
And done!
Your phone is now rooted
Install root checker and verify your root status
how to un-brick
Same thing here,
Tell me how you un-bricked your phone
I bricked my phone by installing wrong twrp file to sm-j720f android pie with odin
and now it shows only bootloader screen and I can't even go to recovery mode or home screen just showing " SAMSUNG GALAXY J7 DUO secured by Knox powerd by android" noting else
That is exactly what was happened in my phone
So what i did just downloaded the Stock ROM for J7 duo from the sam mobile website.
Then extract the ROM and you will get few files ("AP", "BL", "CP", "CSC", "HOME CSC")
Then boot your phone into download mode using this method
(Connect the phone to your PC using USB cable, then press and hold Power + volume down + home, then when the "powered by android" logo appears release only the power button... so your phone will boot into download mode, press volume up to continue)
Now, in odin you can see "added" message that means device is connected
Now select the ROM files respectively, BL, AP, CP, CSC
Then click start, and the process will start, will take few minutes
When done, your phone will boot normally
Yeah everything is right until...

Fact that I cant even go to download mode I tried out many times
Just follow this step
(Connect your computer with your phone using USB cable, then press and hold Power + volume down + home, then when the phone vibrates and appears the samsung logo again just release only the power key, while holding the volume down and home key)
(Just release only the power key when the "powered by android" logo appears)
Thats how you can go to the download mode
No virtual change
Done it as u say,
But my mobile shows noting but just logo screen
*****SAMSUNG GALAXY J7 DUO secured by Knox powered by android*****
again and again
These is not first time, last I did the same mistake before and I went to Samsung service store they recovered it, I don't know how they did but it worked.
These time I want to (tring to) do it on my own bcoz I love playing with ROM's, root, etc.
Thanks for replys
I also did the same mistake by flashing wrong TWRP
But however i managed to enter into downlod mode following those steps
And flashed official ROM to unbrick the phone
You must go into download mode to flash the official ROM using odin
Thanks alot
Thanks man,
I'm able to enter download mode and I installed official ROM. Now in using it as normal but (1)Secure folder and Pay mini are not working.
(2)Do you have any idea on other ROMs that works on SM-J720F other than Samsung's one UI.
(3)can I install android 8 on it in ordered to root as you said it in previous post.
(4)from previous your post on oreo twrp explanation, is twrp works fine. What happens to twrp if I update phone to Q (from system updater)
I'm glad you made it!
Now,
1) Secure folder and pay mini won't work because the phone thinks you rooted your phone and maybe your binary is cracked (so forget using those)
2) I'm not sure about any ROMs which is stable with this model. But you can search the internet (I think pixel ROM is pretty popular)
3) I'm not sure if my process of rooting supports android 9.0 or not, because i personally tetsted it on 8.0, So you can download the oreo ROM from the internet and then follow all the steps i mentioned before
4) If you want to install TWRP, you can still install TWRP after rooting via the method i provided
(You can install TWRP using flashify on a rooted phone)
But if you want root access then you can simply root your phone first..
And whatever custom ROMs you want to install, install it using flashify
Because if you update software via official OTA, the root access and TWRP both will be gone
And if you root your phone, then however you won't be able to perform a official OTA update.
(First root your phone, then simply download your TWRP file and flash it with root permission within your phone)
Instated of Oreo AP file,

And done!
Your phone is now rooted
Install root checker and verify your root status

Ok I agree with you,
But what if I replace Oreo's AP file with android 10's AP file(which I installed recently on my phone), will it boot with root or not.
************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
I have not tested this method on any other android version, you can still try it on your own, there is nothing to lose, just make a backup before flashing. If you succeed then that's great
But i have personally tested this method only on android 8.0
(Before doing anything, just make a proper backup using samsung smart switch. So you can restore your important data)
Success
Replaced with android 10's AP file and flashed with Odin. Now my phone has rooted with Magisk manager.
Any suggestions to tweak android

Have you ever got the answer or figured it out? I've got the same model and I cannot find anything on the net to help me with rooting this phone.
Hi All this is just a quick tutorial to help you all root your devices, on later firmwares
This 100% works ive done it over and over without any problems. I am currently on october patch latest firmware for my A105FN. As you may know Samsung have now added extra security meaning even if you have already unlocked your bootloader after you patch the firmware with magisk, flash patched firmware and reboot you will be greeted with that dreadfull message, Only official binaries allowed and your device will be locked and wont boot untill you reflash stock firmware again. The below will help get you out of the prenormal kg state, and save's you a 7 days waiting period as we dont have any TWRP available for our device at this time. Also note due to the extra security magisk cant be flashed with the whole firmware no more, as each time you flash the firmware your back at square 1.
Note: You will need 7-zip - google is your freind
1. Download odin: https://odindownloader.com/download/odin3-v3-13-3.
2. download the latest stock firmware for your device via SamMobile
3. Download latest Magisk Manager - https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445/amp/
4. Flash latest firmware via odin and let device boot up and finish setting up.
5. Grab Your Firmware AP_A105FXXXX.tar.md5 remove the md5 so its a tar file makes it easier to work with. Copy it to your device storage.
6. Install latest magisk manager, and open check advanced settings to make sure recovery is checked, select install image / patch image and select the AP file you put on your device, magisk will patch and save as magisk_patched on your internal storage. Copy this back to your pc and extract it.
7. Download this https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4818715&d=1568308074 thanks to @droidzer1 and extract the vbmeta.img.
8. Make a new folder on you pc it's temporary so you know where your files are. From the Ap magisk_patch.tar you extracted, copy the boot.img, recovery.img, and the downloaded vbmeta.img from step 7. And place them in the new folder you created, using your mouse select all 3 and right click select 7-zip add to archive, select tar format and name it magisk.tar.
9. Now we have all the files ready back to your device, if your bootloader is already unlocked skip this step and move to the next. For those that havent unlocked there bootloader go to settings - about phone - Software Information - tap multiple times on "Build number" - This will open developer option.
Now in settings at the end, you will have new option "Developer options" - look for OEM unlocking - Enable it, if the OEM switch is not there proceed to step 10. If it is and you enabled it it might ask you to factory reset if not it will be this way to complete the unlock bootloader.......
switch off your device and reboot to download mode.
To put device in download mode - Press Volume Up & then Press Volume Down (Keep holding both) and connect device to PC with USB cable
When device start to download mode, long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot.
10. Remove any account you have on your device go to settings, look for time and date automatic time zones, turn it off and set date back 8 days from now (example 30th today change date to 22nd) restart device. Now go straight back into automatic time zones settings and turn it back on. Again reboot device, when device reboots turn it off. You can now enter download mode and it should say checking instead of prenormal that means you good to go. Those of you that had no OEM switch in developer mode please now check.... if it's there enable it and go back to step 10 unlocking bootloader then proceed to step 11.
11. Open odin and select in the ap tab the magisk.tar you created earlier. Plug in your usb whilst holding vol-up and vol-down together to boot into download, press vol-up to proceed. Press start on odin and soon as it finishes and device reboots and you see the bootloader message hold power and vol-up until into stock recovery, select wipe factory reset then select reboot device, this the same as soon as you see bootloader unlocked message hold power and the vol-up together this time count to 7.... and release. Phone wont boot it will go blackscreen and reboot, dont worry this is normal, again do the exact same at bootloader unlocked msg screen hold power and vol-up count to 7... release, now phone will boot and you can set it up.
Note: you will need to reinstall magisk manager and on 1st open it will ask do to additional setup, let it do its thing, then device will reboot,
Remeber every time your device reboots you will have to do the power and vol-up to boot system with root.
I hope this guide help you and a big thank you to @afaneh92 for his original guide

No the twrp that was made for our device, wont work with new versions of magisk, or any newer firmware we are going to have to wait until the the new kernel source is released by samsung unfortunatly, its impossible to say when or if they do.... so its just root for now.
