Please someone help me.
I was still using it this morning. Then I took a nap with my Nexus on the bed. It has a folding cover on it. I might have put my thigh on it but when I woke up , the screen is showing crazy pixels. I tried rebooting but it stills does not help. I also tied pat it on the back. Nothing helps yet.
At first it seems also reponse to touches. I could hear the touch sound. After I long press power button , It has gone. Nothing responses at all.
Please help me.

Just re-seat the 'copper' flex cable. At first on motherboard's connector and if still not fixed, then also on LCD PCB's connector. But you must disconnect the battery before doing it, also watch this video.

I actually fix it without disconnect the battery. I took the back cover out then press on all the connectors again.
I did tried to power off by pressing power button for about 1 minute but I guess the tablet did not into off mode.
Anyway, I put the back cover back on and it go straight into recovery mode, with all the images showing correctly. I did a backup and reboot normally. Everything is working fine so far.

I need to turn my phone on without using the power button. The power button on the top left side of the phone is broken and no longer works. This corner of the motherboard is slightly exposed, and I have previously turned the phone on by touching the mobo with a paperclip, but as far as I'm concerned it's just luck. I was hoping for either turning it on by computer, or a map of a mobo that showed what I could push/touch to turn the phone, if possible. Or, any other method. Thanks.
EDIT: I don't have my USB cable, so now I can't use any computer method anymore..
EDIT2: I found the problem: The small chip/power button attached to the motherboard came off. I'm hoping I can find someone in (Raleigh, NC) to solder it back on for me, assuming that it can be soldered.
What I was doing before with the paperclip was magic.. I just touched the pins and it turned on, but I can't do that anymore
EDIT3: Shorted out the power switch pins. My new power button is my battery

Look like your back to the paperclip then. Sorry, i had too, but seriously, I don't think it would work with the computer anyway. There's no way to communicate if it isn't on. Can you see where the button connects?
The only way to correct this is to either fix the mother board or continue using the paperclip. Unfortunatly most electronic devices like this, only have one "actual" method for turning them on. I do like your idea of bypassing the switch to turn the unit on though.
Updated. The power switch came off the motherboard.

im no expert...but that sounds like a not-so-good thing.
I fixed the issue.. sort of. Shorted out the power switch pins on the motherboard, so it stays "on" indefinitely. My new power button is my battery
A limiting fix, I guess.. but it works.
wow..you are not gonna let this one die huh? maybe its time for some parts? or a new phone?
Why should I let it die? Everything on the phone is fine, I just lost the power switch. Now I got the thing hotwired and it works fine.
I'm locking this thread....no more need for it.
Hello,
I've searched all XDA and Google, but couldn't find a reasonable explanation of my situation.
I use my Desire as a replacement for my Sensation, as it is in repair now.
I rooted and flashed my Desire. Everything worked.
I decided to try the LeeDroid ROM. All OK, but just after the reboot, the phone fell on the ground and the battery flew aroud $#@%#
After that I have the following situation:
- Removing the battery and connecting the phone to a power source, flashes the LED Amber and Green.
- Introducing the battery again, the LED turns Amber for "charging"
- When I push the Volume Down+Power Button, the LED turns off and everything is black. No LED, no vibration or whatsoever
It's impossible to enter Recovery or HBOOT in general.
I read there was a trick to power on the phone with a "USB Trick", but couldn't find how to. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502777
Is it Bricked, so impossible to revive? Obviously no warranty anymore
Thanks for your input.
Wrong place for this question... but let me help you, it could be because of the fall, i mean most probably... i'm sure about that...

I say that the display connector might have disconnected itself when the phone hit the ground. You should try to tear your phone down and see if the connector actually fell out.

OK, I will try to open the phone, but I think that doesn't explain why the power button shuts the LED off when pushed.
I have to look for the very small screw drivers
Thanks.

Not the charging one while charging...
After that the power button doesn't do anything. The phone doesn't even vibrate...
It all seems that phone works but your screen doesn't. Some connectors are disconnected or broken or your phone's screen is broken.

Don't try alternative, you'll ruin the screws. You can easily order it on e-bay and it's pretty cheap. I'm also sure you can find it in any hardware store, it's called TORX screwdriver.
Ok thanks!
I don't know what helped, but after repeatedly trying to switch on/off and connect/disconnect to USB power the phone booted again.
I managed to enter RECOVERY and flashed the Oxygen ROM and seems to work all fine and quick :good:
Thanks for you support :good::good::good:
I flashed Codename Android onto my Verizon Nexus and it worked fine, minus a little battery drain from Maps. A couple days later, the battery drains all the way and when I plug it in, nothing happens. No charging icon, no indicator light, nothing. No button combinations get the phone or screen on. I let it "charge" completely overnight, but still nothing turns the phone on. I know the charge is good because I use it with an S3 as well.
Anything I should try, or is completely dead?
Maybe adb it, it might work
Sorry I don't have the device just trying to help it happened to my dhd but turns out it was a brick

Thanks for that link! I will definitely have to try that if the problem happens again.
I connected it to the computer and nothing happened, so I took the battery out and got the connector pins wet hoping for a last ditch effort. Nothing happened, so I pressed the battery into the pins as hard as I could, and the phone turned on! I guess the pins are getting worn or something. I'll have to make a spacer so that they press closer together.

Hi there
I recently attempted to change the digitizer on my one x, breaking the lcd in the process.
I ordered one from eBay and installed it along with my new digitizer. Both went well and my one x was looking fresh again.
With the housing off still, I wasnt 100% happy with the double sided tape i used so decided to redo the bonding process.
Anyways... Long story short.
My wife accidentally spilled the tiniest bit of water on the surface my phone was on. It did get on the phone but not too much, I broke down the components and put them in a rice bag overnight. now the lcd screen is cloudy (not a problem really, can get another for £20) but the htc logo comes on with a vibration as normal but then after 3 seconds goes off and repeats. Thinking my battery could be drained I've had it on charge for at least half hour with no luck.
I hope this isn't a hardware issue. I can't afford this right now.
Trying to boot into recovery brings up the low battery text too but again reboots after 3 seconds. Ive triple checked all ribbons/cables/connections and everything seems fine.
Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks
Edit: A post on this thread... http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x-xl/635327-help-my-htc-one-x-wont-stop-rebooting.html hints at it possibly being an issue with the powerflex cable attached to the power button. After a few wiggles and playabouts the phone went on to the bootanimation but then rebooted. So its possible it is the cable?! How do i go about changing this and further testing to make sure it is exactly this?
Edit II: Seems to be now the powerflex cable is faulty, as when I disconnect it from the slot, the charge LED now remains constant. I've disconnected everything else. Leaving it to charge for a while then gonna research the power cable. tried connecting the power cable but it just causes it to restart with LED flashing every 3 secs. hence why i know it restarts.

you should be happy atleast your motherboard is okay now try getting a new power flex cable and check whether your htc still reboots or not with the new one,,,best ov luck :good:
Cheers mate. One is on order from eBay. I ended up removing the power cable because it just interfered with boot ups. It's a bugger having to use sweep to wake and ADB commands but at least it now works
Also no mic for calls but that's OK. Loudspeaker works still

Hello all,
I have an S3, T-Mobile (T999). Yesterday while I was using it, it turned off by itself and now refuses to turn on. I have tried two different batteries and all it does is vibrates when I take the battery out and put it back in. I cannot get into recovery.
It was rooted and I had the PacMan ROM on it. To make things worse, the mcro-USB port is not functioning so plugging in into the computer doesn't do anything (I was using Anker wall-charging batteries to charge the phone).
Is my phone bricked somehow? Any troubleshooting tips?
Does it do anything other than vibrate? Does it sound like it comes on but the screen is just dead? Do you see anything happen on the screen? Unfortunately, without a functioning usb jack, theres not a lot you can do. Cant even flash the stock firmware....Only other thing you can try that I can think of is to find another S3 and swap the motherboards to test on a known good device.

Thanks for the reply DocHoliday. Today, after charging my Anker battery, it vibrated as usual but then I saw the Galaxy logo appear on the screen, but then it went away and the phone died again, so the screen is functioning.
I wonder if it is a battery problem; however, I have tried two different Anker batteries. I might try to find a stock S3 battery and try again. Will keep this thread updated.

Does it try to turn on on its own when you put the battery in? If so it may be a power button issue. Either way, you might want to take it apart and make sure the button appears ok, and also check/reseat all ribbon connectors. Kinda doubtful its a battery issue, but I guess it is possible.
Did you try to go download mode or to the recovery (What ever u have)????...Just to know the reaction of the phone. If u can then is not hardware related

DocHoliday77,
I opened up the phone yesterday. The power button has no ribbon on it. It's connected to a simple surface mount push button. I tried pushing the button with the screw driver to rule out the actual button not making the proper contact, but it still wouldn't turn on. It still vibrates when I put in the Anker battery though.I think what I'll do today is test the voltage on the battery before putting it into the phone to make sure its not dead. Unfortunately, I could not find the stock battery that came with the phone.

I know the button has no cable attached, I meant for you to unplug and reseat all ribbon cables that are there. I think there are 3 or 4....maybe 5. There are disassembly vids you can reference though. As for the power button, it has been known to go bad. We've had it reported quite a few times around here in the past several months. Sometimes just jiggling it, or messing with it a little seems to help, otherwise itd have to be replaced. If you put the battery in, and the phone tries to power on without you pressing power, this is most likely the problem. From what you have said though, I doubt this is your issue. It could simply be memory going bad as well. I have seen a few reports of this. Unfortunately, short of replacing the motherboard, there is no fix for this.
Im, not saying that is the problem btw. Just a possibility.

I ordered a replacement button today. It would be another 'low-hanging fruit' possibility and it was only $3 for the button on eBay. I'll de-solder the old one off and solder the new one on. Will update this thread after doing so. It is a mechanical button, so I agree, it could have messed up some how.
hey even i have nokia x it doent on doesnt vibrate just like total dead what should i do batery is ok some problem while flashing it with me

Hi. I have the exact same problem as you had, so I was wondering whether or not this worked?
