Bot able to do more than 10 characters or so when adding a contact. This wasnt the case before. Any suggestions why?
Thanks in advance
??????
Are you creating the contact on your SIM ? there is a limit when the contacts are stored on SIM card.
Thanks for the reply. How can i check if its on the sim or the phone please?
Edit the contact, and in the upper part of the screen you have a drop-down to choose from Google/phone/SIM

I have the dash flashed to the Rogers wm6 ROM which is about 10x smoother/faster than the Tmoboile wm6...
But anyway, one thing i always hated with the tmobile was that if i was type alpha characters to find contact to dial, during my query, it would Automatically popup with (see below, dont know how to take a screenshot):
Dialer (Title)
Confirm
--------------------------------
Dial XXX at (yyy) - yyy-yyyy?
--------------------------------
Yes | No |
--------------------------------
How do i disable this? its really annoying because 99% of the time, the name that its asking to dial is incorrect and usually the same, ...ex. ill type the letters S A R for sarah, as soon as i see sarah in the list, this damn auto thing comes up saying (before i get the chance to select), Dial Chris at (xxx) -xxx-xxxx?
I was hoping this would go away with the rogers wm6, but alas it has not..
thanks for any help.
sim number
It try to dial number in sim card. example if you type ra, it also mean 3#. (dial number location 3 in sim). I solve it by delete all numbers in Sim card. Hope this help.
Ah that makes sense, is there any way to disable that without deleting my SIM contacts and using phone mem?
i don't have this problem and i have all my contacts backed up on the sim.
i don't know the solution... but just wanted to point out that i don't think you should have to delete all your sim contacts to fix. unless it has something to do with you ONLY having your contacts on your sim. i use the phone for my contacts and just have everything on the sim for backup only.
I try to disable SIM contact in setting-phone-call option but it does not help.
hai any body
i had problem inserting contact to message (short message service). i just can send contact as message, but how can i insert contact number to message?
thank you
Just go to your sms message center, create a new message.
This is the part you care about, Click on MENU. and add recipient.
This takes you to your contacts, scroll to the contact name and press the left soft key(OK). This will add the recipient's phone number to the Header of your sms and you can begin typing away. Also you can type away 1st, then add recipient, if you want.

This becomes....
I can JUST (or ONLY) SEND contact as a message, how can I insert the contact's number to the message.
I think he's saying he can send the contact's number to a person as a message, but he cannot add the contact's number to the message.
Maybe not, it's kinda hard with this hazy post.

try http://freewareppc.com/ search for insert contact...ive seen it before
is there a way to have the contact list drop down when just typing in their name. I've seen another 6.1 rom on a tmo dash that inserts the name (or gives you the names of you contact list) as you type the first few letters of that name. hope im being clear.. example when i type VI in the recipient TO: line, it would show all contacts who's name has VI in it, such as VINCE, or VIVIAN, etc. it should also work when typing in the first few numbers in a phone number. Thanks. Bill.

Thanks
could someone please tell me how to enable it for this rom?
The program they mentioned is not what i'm looking for.
the thing, im looking for is like smart dailer, for txt message.
thanks
I understand what the guy is saying because I had a similar question a while back. Sometimes I want to insert a phone number and contact name IN the text message. The only way on the Dash to do this is to add the number in the recipient header and then typing it on your own but there is no direct way of doing it. Its weird because on my old RAZR and SLVR I could and here on a WM device I can't. And yes, I also would like to know where I can get the drop down menu list when typing a name in the recipient header. I saw it in a ROM I think it was Ricky and Stylez but Kavana's doesn't have it.
Thanks

Are you sure you've made SIM contact visible?
In "People", press Menu then select View - is SIM ticked?

Dave

Well, normally this happens when your contacts are being pulled from the SIM card. Try going into your contact list, and tap Menu > View > Contacts. This should exclude your SIM contacts from the list. Future messages should now be tagged with the name of the contact instead of the number. Keep in mind that this will have no effect of messages already on the phone, only future ones.

The only other thing I can think of then, is to make certain that the number that is being displayed is exactly the same as the one in your contact list. This includes the +1areacode. I.e. If the number for your contact is 555-5555, and the incoming text number is +15555555555, just change the contact number to match the incoming. This would, again, only resolve the future contacts.
Hi
When I first got my Xperia ZL, I was certain that the SIM card contacts were an option to select to view as the primary contact list.
I have updated my ZL with the latest Android OS updates, and it seems the SIM card contact display option is now missing. I am only provided the option to import/export contacts from the SIM card.
Can someone pls help me get back the option of just displaying the SIM card contacts?
Thanks.
