lock screen apps - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

The lower corners of my lock screen have the camera app and microphone app. On other devices you can change those or even get rid of them. Is that not an option on the Pixel. I can not find anything anywhere

No native support of changing or deactivating the shortcuts.

(REQUEST) Side Key Panel From Note 4

There is a wonderful (samsung) app in quick settings called Side Key Panel that I have only seen on the Note 4. I realize there is something similar in (android) setting menu, but it is not hideable. This app sits oN the side of the screen and needs to be swiped to be visible. I would really like to have this .APK because I use GMD SPen Control, and have it set to disable all touch except spen when I pull it out. The only problem is that when in that mode it also disables the hardware keys (except the home button), and I can't use them unless I put the pen away. While the floating menu app works, it is always on the screen and frequently gets in the way. This is just a much better solution IMO.

weird screenshot feature

Been a month since owning this device, but since yesterday, at random times when i m scrolling in 9gag, or chrome, google app etc, or even in MaxPlus app, some scroll is then followed by a blue trail of line and then it becomes a custom screenshot. I have no clue what it is or how to manually activate it. Kindly educate me on this so-existing feature. Wana use it in so many ways, but dunno how to activate it. Just pops up randomly.
it is the smart screenshot feature found under smart assistance -> motion control. it is supposed to happen only when you use your knuckle on the screen. your touch is somehow getting registered as knuckle touch which is activating the feature.
Are you using your hardware buttons to take a screenshot, or the knuckle method?

Some settings missing in 8.0.

I'm really annoyed that I can't open my phone from half way out of my pocket because it has the "don't cover the top of the screen" message. The option to turn that off is missing from settings now.
I can't use my own wallpaper because even if I change it, it still forces magazine unlock.
Receiving and taking calls makes you go to the phone app to answer calls.
Standard power saving is missing from my top menu.
I don't understand what is the deal with this update. Phone is stable, but I'm missing fairly standard features and I'm getting forced to use certain things I don't want.
You can change the lockscreen wallpaper by changing the lockscreen style to another theme. After that, you can change the wallpaper (tested using pixel launcher and setting wallpaper for lockscreen).
I just tested unlocking my phone from my pocket and works fine. Covering ambient sensor with my hand also allows to unlock via FP.
You should have a heads up notification for incoming calls.
What build number are you on and what variant 7x? in the US here with 8.0.0.330 build.

Phone icon on lock screen

Is there any point in the at all? I have the phone and camera icons on the bottom of my lock screen. The camera allows me to use the camera without unlocking the phone which is great. However the phone icon wants me to unlock the phone before it is used, rendering the thing pointless. I know these can be switched about but i can not find anything else useful for the lock screen.

Question Smart lock requires extra swipe to home screen

I am using smart lock with a Bluetooth device. On the pixel 5 also running Android 12, the lock screen shows an unlocked icon in place of the fingerprint icon, and only a single swipe is needed to go to the home screen. On the pixel 6 pro, the fingerprint icon is shown instead, and two swipes are needed to go to the home screen.
Anybody also use smart lock and have similar issue?
I use smartlock but it doesn't seem to work well for me. I have enabled trusted places, my Bluetooth devices and onbody detection.
I find myself having to input my pin even when I'm at home most of the time. Sort of can't wait for gravity box to be compatible with A12, as it forces the device to stay unlocked.
