How could I restore Deleted WhatsApp Messages - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason I Deleted a WhatsApp chat around 10 days ago (around 1/11) (all the messages from that chat are deleted)
And I have uninstalled WhatsApp and installed it again to see if I can restore back the messages..
But it fails...
And I have also deleted that contact person in the contact book on that day....
So is there any way I can restore that WhatsApp chat?
I have looked up a few solution. One is Wondershare Dr.Fone to restore...
But it have to be rooted to be proceeded ( I have the Dr.Fone and it said root failed so I think I have to root the 5x myself)
But I do not want the data be wiped after root ( I am afraid the whatsapp messages I want to restore will be wiped out also)
Thanks everyone!!!!!

Would anyone can help?

There is no way to root without wiping your data. The Whatsapp backups are located on your internal storage so you can just copy them from there to your computer and back after rooting. Having said that, I don't think you will be able to restore the messages as Whatsapp only keeps the most recent backup and that backup won't have those messages anymore (unless the backup was made before you deleted them). It could be possible to restore the contact but that's about it.

[Q] Restoring SMS messages from original SD backup.

I did one stupid thing, manually clear all data from HTC Sense, from apps menu.
Now i see that all my SMS are gone.
I don't root my desire or install any additional software for backup.
Also, auto backup is enabled and phone tried to install this latest backup before week or two, so i know that i have a recent backup of my phone.
Phone just didn't finish upgrade because it runs of the memory, had only 17MB free
So, my question is, are there any way to manually initialise backup procedure and return my phone on my last backup or just somehow manually restore my SMS messages?
Thanks!

Backing up SMS, apps etc before ROM install...

Hi guys, sorry for the lame question. I feel bad asking because I've done dozens of different ROM installs on all kinds of different phones down the years, but there's always something I've never got.
How do I back up all my SMS's, installed apps etc and restore them after I've done a FULL WIPE and installed a new ROM? (SMS is the main one, I hate losing all those)

The process I'd suggest you for transferring your data when switching ROMs is:
1. Back up
For SMS's, use SMS Backup & Restore. It creates a backup XML which will be used to restore your SMS's after wiping.
For apps and their data, use Titanium Backup (Requires root).
For calls, Call Logs Backup and Restore. It also creates a backup XML like SMS Backup and Restore.
For contacts, I personally sync them using my Google account. If you don't like this you can use MyPhoneExplorer or any contacts backup app.
2. Full Wipe & ROM install
2b. Root your ROM if it is not rooted already.
3. Install Titanium Backup from an APK or Play Store.
4. Use Titanium Backup to restore user apps and their data. I suggest restoring ONLY user apps, unless you know what you are doing. Now it is also a good time to check which apps you really need to restore, since you may have back ups of applications that you don't need anymore.
5. Restore your SMS's and call logs from their backup XMLs using their respective applications.
6. Restore your contacts by syncing or by using the app you chose to back them up.
I've found some that backup to XML won't work if you have pictures in your messages. So either, save the pictures off, or you can use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=backup.email.inapp&hl=en
It uses your Google account to backup and store your MMS/SMS messages. It works great.
How about using LG backup. It can backup both apps and data so I think it can both backup sms and call logs...

[Q]Faster way to backup SMS?

II have around 23k messages and it tooks hours just to backup and to restore SMS after flashing rom everytime when I am using backup applications from playstore. Is there a faster way to backup like maybe a single file from /system or anything like that?
Probably not if you insist on keeping that many stored, which is a ridiculous amount of messages to keep on a Phone, I get sentimentality but still.
Titanium Backup is faster than sms backup app
Is TB accurate? When I first tried it, it lost a lot of my messages. I've stuck with SMS Backup and Restore which also has MMS backup now.
if rooted you can also get the database directly in :
data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
Check out permissions and reapply same when restoring ...:highfive:

Patter Forgotten... Can't Access Settings file

Hello,
I have an HTC One X with loads of data as it had internal memory of 32 GB. Recently one of the kids in my house kept attempting pattern and it got locked. I have the option to sign in through gmail which I did but to no avail probably as my phone is not connected to any wifi. How can I access my phone without losing data? If I wipe cache or factory reset will that remove data on my phone? Is there any way I can do this without losing data? IT is NOT rooted.
I have found out about ADB and sqlite but I don't know how to use them plz explain anyone. I need your help
Some of your data is likely saved in the cloud, like contacts and hangouts chat. If you were only able to install a custom recovery, you could transfer all your data.

No it's not saved anywhere that's the issue. I would need to have to use a tool to do that which I think is not possible.

Restore Data (Audio Files) without root?

Hi,
i accidentally deleted a whatsapp chat a few days ago. i have no whatsapp backups anymore from google or local on the phone cause its to late. there are already new backups created without chat.
i wanted to restore at least the whatsapp audio files. but im not rooted and whatsapp audio was stored in internal storage.
I read about some apps that can restore data or at least audio files when rooted.
now i wanted to root my device ... but it seems i have to format data... so im concerned if it all would work. even if rooted.
can you give me some advice ? should i root ? is it even possible ? or else ??
Thanks in advance.
