One can only wonder what the heck verizon does to their software such that it requires a 612meg security patch huh?
Anyhow.. Time to use that nandroid i posed in the dev section to accept the OTA.. -or- I will post an updated one later this evening.
Probably 600mb of updated NFL bloatware included and the rest just the security update.
Any word yet on whether this is really just a 612Meg security patch?

Anyone know if letting this thing run and update will break root? I'm stock, rooted. Don't want to lose that and not be able to get it back myself.

are you SOFF? if so, you will be fine
Yes.. I'm s-off and unlocked. So after it updates, will it still be rooted? Or would I havery to re-root it? I'm just worried because my cable Internet isn't working for a few days and I need my wifi tether. Thanks
Ran into an issue with this update. It failed to install on 11/3 with a error code 409, but when I try to download it again by selecting "Check for new system updates" it says I have the latest update. I've rebooted a number of times and it shows up every time. From what little information I can find online, I have to reset my phone to factory then attempt to update again. I want to avoid this so here I am.
I'm on my phone so I can't properly upload the screenshots. I posted Google Drive links for now

Flash the custom firmware zip and restore the nandroid I posted of the update. Then wipe data for the app htcdm. Flash supersu.zip and you're done.

I'm not rooted.
Update: I decided to just to a factory reset. Thankfully it worked and I am at the latest firmware.
So I've tried letting this update run a couple times. Downloading for the third time as I write this. When it tries to install, it just reboots into TWRP recovery and does nothing. Then I restart the phone and basically start the process all over again. Any guidance on how to get this squared away?? I met one of the members here with a card who S-offed, unlocked, rooted, my phone which I'm thankful for. Just want to be stock rooted is all. Don't really do much with custom roms on this phone. Thanks.

Hi, I'm having the same issue. I have a HTC Desire 820 Dual Sim bought in Australia and I unlocked the bootloader without rooting, but now I have received the interim update for Android 6.0 and cannot apply it because of my unlocked bootloader. Can somebody help?

1. What is now installed on the phone Stock recovery or twrp? 2. unlocked bootloader does not interfere with the update installation 3. This way you can lock the bootloader https://yadi.sk/d/C5ZYzOL-k4dco 4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/des...p-2-8-7-0-64bit-a51ul-a51tuhl-europe-t3287214

I suspect I have a broken TWRP for Android 4.4.4, the stock firmware of the phone. I downloaded the most popular one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-820/general/htc-desire-820-root-easily-t2913064) and didn't realise it wouldn't work with Lollipop. Since then, I have not been able to use HBOOT on bootloader or boot in Recovery mode. And just tonight I attempted to flash the linked TWRP but it didn't work. It just did what it always does when I hit Recovery - boots into Fastboot. Can you help?

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply but for some reason the email alert went straight to spam and i didn't know anyone replied to my post.
The phone is a HTC Desire 820, single sim, Android version 5.0.2. I made the dumbass decision to root it and after trying to update android and almost bricking it, I would like to return it to stock. I have TWRP 2.8 i believe... I am in over my head here tbh...

Okay
Hey guys, before I start, I have spent hours researching all the files I need for this, but I am rusty as I haven't looked at rooting since I did 5.1.1. I have about 4 links, that all explain how to root to 6.0.1, but my question is: Most all of them say you need to rollback to 5.1.1 and then start the root process from there, or start with changing the marshmallow bootloader first, etc. If I am already rooted on 5.1.1 can I just use flashfire and simply use the stock 6.0.1 firmware, or do I still need to follow all instructions? Where exactly do I need to start if I am already rooted/unlocked on 5.1.1?
Here are the links I have been looking at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/note-4-verizon-bootloader-unlock-t3358913
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...firmware-safe-upgrade-to-marshmallow-t3402727

http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...overy-n910t-t3-marshmallow-pe3-guide-t3406870
I just need someone to point out which link I need to use and where I need to start since I am already rooted. If I don't have to start at the beginning, I would rather not waste time doing stuff I don't need to. I thank you for the help.

After I complete the entire process, can I just use titanium backup and restore my backup to have all of my apps/settings back on my newly rooted device?
Looks like I ****ed up somewhere, and now I am on a non-rooted 6.0.1 .....ffs
I assume now I have to redo everything and drop down back to 5.1.1 rooted?
I recently bought an unlocked g3 off ebay with the latest update. Kingroot doens't work and so far i guess the only way to root it would be to downgrade first but i'm a total noob to rooting and the only threads i've found on that have invalid links to the tools i'd need. Was wondering if somebody could help me out with a crystal clear eli5 guide to rooting or w/e i need to do to downgrade then root. Thanks.

Hello,
I've had the A70 for about a year now and I'm really itching to get this rooted! I can see a few posts that people are successfully rooting their A70.
What's the best 100% working method to install Trwp and rooted? I don't want a method that you have to mess about with pressing buttons just to make the phone boot I'd rather wait for a fully working method.
Thanks

Samsung A70 requires following instructions to the word for successful root.
I for one had problem having stable root on stock Android 9 with twrp recovery.
I have tried lots of guides, none but the one linked in my signature which is not eve mine, actually worked for me
