I have something strange happening with Google Photos. When I go to download one of my photos on Google Photos to my pixel, it will show its downloading it but it's not in my downloads folder, if I try tapping on the downloaded notification it asks me if I want to open it up chrome or another HTML viewer. If I do open it in chrome then this is the URL..
content://com.android.providers.downloads.documents/document/546
I have tried downloading multiple different photos and the same thing happens. Anyone else seeing this?

This is a screenshot of Root Explorer with the path on top of where I found the picture I "restored" in Photos (I didn't see a download button in my picture options)
What do you see at this path?

Yeah, I can see the file in that path which is odd because it use to download them to downloads. Also have you tried opening the file from that path? I did and none of the files open. Photos just opens a blank screen

Hmm. Not sure. Maybe a bug. I found on google product forums a suggestion to use Google Drive to download photos to downloads folder. That worked for me.

Same thing happened to me today. When you restore pictures using google photos, it creates a folder called restored.
I tried to restore 5 pictures from about 5 years back and the same problem happened.
When I restored 2 pictures from earlier this year they were in the restored folder in the gallery.
Edit: went into the restored path using Mixplorer and those pictures that didn't restore are in there. All 55kb, when opened the thumbnail isn't available.

I have an HTC EVO and I would like to password protect or hide a couple of picture folders that I created. Any help in this topic will be of great help.

All I have to say:
I use an app called File Copy
It is in the market it is discreet and cheap.
You can hide videos and pictures. I have never had a problem with it.
Just put them in a folder with a '.' before the foldername. In this case, it would be under .dirtyPics
Your gallery should ignore them then, the only way to find them is through file manager/astro. If you're using CM, then in file manager hit menu > exclude from media scan.
I use Photo Vault. Works perfect

Hide it pro works. And it's nifty. Couple that with quick pic and you're all set.

I just got a serious lawl from reading those.
Hide it pro. You can hide pictures, videos, apps and others. Shows on your app list as an audio manager. I sometimes use the audio manager feature only for the quick access to volume controls. Plus its free.

You can see the extra folder on the bottom right
I remember on the evo 3d you could go to settings and make sure they didn't appear I don't see that on here ... and I get tired of erasing them. Also I don't want an app for gallery stock one is fine for me

I'm assuming you mean bottom left, not bottom right?
What are the images of? And they're not deletable from the Gallery app itself?
If you connect to a PC and dive into the folders, can you find where they are and delete them?

I use QuickPic instead of the Gallery, its much better and faster imo. QP has the option to hide folders you dont want showing up. If you are willing to try QP instead of Gallery that will solve your problem, but I dont know how to hide folders in the Gallery app.

In the root of the directory where the images are make a file called ".nomedia", clear the data on the gallery app and images will not come back.
I see a nice Google folder on my home page but nowhere do I see any way to create new ones.
Has anyone figured out how to create new folders on the Home?
Long press does not yield this option like it used to.

Found some info
Inm the online manual found here http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...8/SM-T800_UM_EU_Kitkat_Eng_Rev.1.0_140530.pdf
This does not appear to work on some devices (of course after posting this I must have got some sort of update or a service installed because its now working as intended)
Creating a folder
1 On the Classic Home screen, tap and hold an app, and then drag it to Create folder that
appears at the top of the screen.
2 Enter a folder name.
3 Tap , select the apps to move to the folder, and then tap Done.
Instead you have to do it from the Apps Drawer.
Tap the 3 dots in the top-right corner to get this menu then when you have created the folder, long press it to add it to your Home.

If your rooted than use
"Root Explorer"
: Navigate to folder/file or make a new folder/file
: now long hold on the folder/file you created and near the bottom of the menu you will see "create shortcut" and tap it.
: now back out to your home screen and you should see the folder/file

Pinch on the screen and you should see all of them in preview then slide up to remove ones you don't want.

This is an xpost from the vzw section. Wondering if any other m8s that this same issue....
hey guys/gals
I have a patriotically weird bug that i want to share and see if anyone else can replicate it. I have not been able to reproduce the bug on other devices i have just the M8
I first noticed it when i copied a url from within reddit is fun
(http://imgur.com/8OLeFQM)
thats the link, if i directly share it to a hangout chat there is no issue, however if i copy the url then open hangout to share it once i click on the text field hangout crashes.
Now to see if it was the reddit app i texted that link, rebooted phone, copied the link from txt and the issue returns as soon as i open a hangout chat.
now i have copied and pasted many other links, some do cause hangout to crash some dont, its a VERY odd issue. the only way to get hangout working again is to reboot phone, (force stoping hangout or keyboard does not work)
here is a video of the issue.

same issue
Hey I am having the same issue on my Verizon M8. Whenever there is anything copied to the clipboard hangouts will crash as soon as I touch the text box. Were you able to find a solution? I've tried clearing app data and even uninstalled/reinstalled updates for Hangouts but no luck.

Nope, even sent Google hangout team logcats, video of error happening, everything. They still haven't gotten back with me. And unfortunately my m8 met an untimely death so I was forced to move onto the n6... Miss many features of the m8 but don't miss the bugs

I took some pictures today with my phone and noticed image corruption while using HDR mode. I'm using version 2.19 and have a ZE551ML 4GB 2.3GHz.
I don't know if the image corruption problem is a bug in the current system version, as I have not used it with any previous one.
You'll find a sample of a corrupted image below:

Really strange...never have this problem. Camera level of our phone is not very well, but not noising like that. You can try to clear cache of camera app
I've been testing the camera, and the problem seems to be random or maybe related to lollipop memory leak, as the it does not show sort after a reboot.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
I had this problem previously. I don't know the cause. I could see the thumbnail in the camera app but in gallery the pasir was a plain green and brown page.
I had a pure black image as my home screen wall paper
I cleared the data and cache of the gallery app. Home screen wall paper changed to lock screen wall paper but the issue with the camera on HDR mode was gone.
I then used another wallpaper on the home screen.
I don't know if this can solve your problem.
Cheers!

The release notes for 2.19.40.20 indicated they fixed the occasional green line thingy. Yup..I kept the pixel master app updated.
