Just got an LG G4 - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just bought a t mobile LG G4 from market here in Pakistan. its software version is H811-10n. My sim is working fine in it so it must be unlocked. Now I want to remove the bloatware but in order to do that I need to root the device.
To root the first step is to "enable oem unlock" however when I go to developer options and click on it and then click enable, nothing happens. A tick never appear in the box next to "Enable OEM unlock"
Can somebody tell me what am I doing wrong.

jeje, there is a lot of info, is not as easy as activating oem unlock, just make some research. it is a sticky thread

to roo it theres 2 ways. one with locked bootloader. that you need to be on lollipop. i suggest lollipop 10n .kdz
on h811 we have antirollback means once you are in specific version you cant downgrade or you brick phone.
so if you want to have it unlocked bootloader. and want to stay in lollipop and marshmallow you can use either one lollipop 10n and MM 20i.. they both version antirollback v2 so you can switch between MM or LP.
for root and twrp bootloader unlock . fisrt you must flash KDZ 20i. from there you unclok bootloader. the root and install twrp.. and i think you can use lollipop 10n and rooted never done this though... or if you dont care about lollipop use the latest MM 20p. kdz thats V3 once you there you cant go back to 20i or lower only to 20o.

The problem is that all unlocking tutorials ask me to "enable oem unlock" but when I cannot do that. I would appreciate if you can give me a direct link to tutorial that will work for my phone .

LG G4 H815P - Need help rooting

After trying several tutorials, i found out that i cannot unlock my bootloader. I thought that my 815p could pass for an 815 but no.
I also looked for specific info on rooting this variant but it seems its not common enough. Can someone direct me?

use the same method as 815 EU. i'm using 815P from south africa and you can root it so easily with the low effort root. choose the 815 EU/international command

I get what you are saying, but all the guides i saw mentioning the 815 EU do the unlocking bootloader step. When i go to the official lg site after getting the info from fastboot, i get a message along the lines of "your model is not supported".
Can you link me to the guide you used, if possible? How did you unlock your bootloader?
Root not bootloader unlock

not unlocking bootloader... your heading says "Need help rooting". you can root the H815P but can not unlock the bootloader. i'll paste the link for the low effort as they came up with it.

only for Lollipop (android V5)
rooting it is exactly as the H815 EU version.
get the Send_Command files
get the rooted system.img
connect your phone
type in the commands to verify connection
type in the dd commands for H815
your done and phone is rooted and can install all Lollipop ROMS

great thread.. thank you! Did it work for you?
it did
Guys I was able to root the H815P: First I flashed it with 5.1 (it had android 6), and I flashed it with H815.. not the "p"..
Then I was easily able to root it with that dd command.. smooth!

any way to flash ROM s on 815P ?

hey guys
i have 815P model and i cant unlock it , there is anyway to install Custom ROms on it ?
No . If Your bootloader is locked u cant. U just can flash kdz root it on 5.1 and use xposed and things like that. But no custom roms.
Goddamn!
I just got an 815P a few days ago and I thought it would be a normal simple procedure to root/unlock like my S3, but I can't seem to find anything either. The LG developer website will unlock the 815 bootloader but not the 815P. I've read about rooting the 815 (all versions?, does that include the 'P'?) but they're for older firmwares 10c etc.. I'm on 20D.
Is there no hope then I wonder?

LG G4 H815 20c-SEA-XX Marshmallow rooting possible?

So I can't unlock bootloader, can't root it if my bootloader isn't unlocked. So I was thinking if I downgrade to 5.1 using LGUP. Will I be able to root my phone then?
If yes, can I get links to guides or just give me a basic gist on how I can root this piece of sh... And I'll google it then. Thank you.

i assume your variant doesn affect antiroll back.. you can check this on hidden menu i think its says software info. it would say antiroll back 0-1-2-3.? not sure but on mine h811 tmobile. i can only downgrade from 10n to 20i wich both are antirollback V2. the new 20o its V3.. son once am on 20o i cant go back. this is my case. not sure about other variants but if 0 then i think you can.. better ask.. but yes you can root it only and install xposed..
ask some one about the antiroll back.. and please let me know if it doesnt matter so that next time i can help better.

updating firmware

hi.
1.
propably it's too late now to ask this and search box doesn't really help nowdays since it gives me thousands of results.
when we flash a kdz to update our firmware, modem and bootloader , our bootloader locks again and we need to contact LG to unlock it ?
if yes,
~we can use the same unlock.bin from before or we definately contact LG again ?
2.
is there any other way to update the firmware, modem and bootloader without flashing the whole kdz ?
~maybe if there is any way on linux we can extract the kdz and get the .img files ?
~maybe a tool that gives us a choice what to flash from the kdz like the mtk devices have (the mtk devices don't use kdz, we already have the .img files) ?
flashing genysis rom for example, i saw it was flashing bootloader, modem, etc. Is it possible genysis rom to be able to update our firmware, modem and bootloader ?
And sorry ! Close to 1 and half years or more to ask this question but i really need it to be cleared for me and everyone and i will edit the title later properly if there is a way so that everyone can find it with the search box.

in my case of h811 it stays always unlocked . the best way to upgrade is to do a KDZ. thats a clean installaion. selecting the refurbished option. so it wipes everything.

Oh very nice. It stays unlocked ? Great. That's what I needed to know.
Then kdz or other method doesn't matter.

but us h811 dont need .bin file. all am saying for h811 we just enter command thats it. no bin file request. and i think it should be unlocked. maybe if LG changes board or something inside then yes it would be locked. am just guessing.

No bootloader?

Good morning,
Having bought a phone LG G4 from China I doubt a bit of their ROM (we never know if they added cookies or what ..) So I decide to get started in the installation of a custom ROM. So already I notice that the phone is already rooted (while it was under blister). Well then I have to unlink the bootloader and I must restart in fastboot but nothing done I can not access the bootloader ?? I tried with the command window (adb reboot bootloader) but it restarts on the home screen .. ditto with an app boot manager, I go back every time on the home screen. How come? I do not have a bootloader or what ??
Thank you for clearing me up.
Sorry for my english

not all LG G4 can be bootloader unlocked only some european and tmobile usa one.
if you had root maybe it was on lollipop phone is bootloader locked.. in lollipop only it can be rooted using system.img rooted. and injecting.. but if you update to MM with locked bootloader it cant be done. no root nothing..
also downgrading in somephones to lower android version bricks phones they have antirollback.. not sure it it applies to all g4. mine does it tmobile.. maybe other can be downgrade. see if yours can at lest to have it rooted..

I don't have the fastboot mode, so you think it's normal? Mine is on LP but I can't update to MM (the category update is missing in settings) wich I think is due to the seller chinese, he did some strange things on the phone I think.
