So, I say OK Google and assistant pops right up and I ask a question. She answers and I cannot ask a follow up without saying OK google again. Is that the way it works, because it doesn't seem like it should be that way. I can't say "How long is xyz open" and then ask "Where is it" without saying OK Google in between.
I agree that it's a bit frustrating that you can't just continue the conversation, but I think that it's probably safer that way. If you're sitting with a friend and one of you reacts to the answer, you might not always want to have it pick that up. I think the Okay Google hotword detection is good to bring up the assistant, but once it's on the screen if you wanted to ask a follow up question, you could always use the mic button to ask your next question, and that's faster than saying Okay Google again.

Guys I get these all the time, and it's really annoying. When I'm driving, I use google voice actions a ton. When it asks me to type in a captcha, I pretty much throw a nutty. I've searched up and down and found no way to stop these things from popping up. I'm not even sure why they do.
On top of that, they're so damn small and distorted I can barely read them. I end up doing 3 or 4 of them, and I don't even know if it's because I type it wrong or something else.
Is there a way to stop these things from appearing all the time, especially inopportune times?!
Halp Please!!!
Just curious if any of you use "Ok Google" on the new 10 ?
I know it's been around for a long time, but I was always scared of the battery drain it would cause, so I never used it. But now I want to use my phone as a smartphone, I'd like to use it more hands free, just say Google, " call Mom ", or Google " text Tom; blah, blah, blah ", or Google "turn on WiFi"
Does it work as well as advertised ? Does using your phone like this, make it better, and easier not having to hold it and type something, or press through the menu to make a phone call ?
Is it a major battery drain on this phone ?
I use all the time. Yes probably battery drain but I don't care as it helps me. Instead of just asking, try it.

This phone does not have Google now during screen off, so that pretty much saves it from battery drain but makes it less convenient. Works great for navigation reminders and questions and app actions. Way better then Siri at the moment.

Ok, tried it out, and not totally impressed, it's not as seemless and smooth and easy as I would've liked. I want a Star Trek Next Gen type thing, where you speak openly in the air to Computer and it does whatever you need. We're not quite there yet.
I wanted to use it totally hands free, not even touch the phone, and not sure how to set it up that way ? Right now, you actually have to unlock the phone and go to the home screen and then say "Ok Google" So I did, and I said "Call Arlene" ( Wife's name ) it then asked :Call Arlene, or call Arlene Office, I said Call Arlene, it asked call Ilene ? I said Call Arlene, it said Call Arlene Office, I said again CALL ARLENE, and again it says please say the name you want to call. Ugh...
I tired another "Ok Google" "Call Mom" dials my mom's number, but then I wanted speaker phone on, to do this hands free while I worked at my desk, no option to tell it to turn on the speaker phone, i had to actually press the speaker button in the Dial app.
It seems to ask too many questions and not totally understand me 100%, I just want it too work smoothly and understand what I want immediately without pausing or anything, just do it like I would be talking to a real life human butler. I shouldn't have to repeat my request at all, I should say it once and then I want the phone to do it light speed fast.
I want the phone laying on the table next to my keyboard, and not touch the phone once, and just say "Google" Text Tom "Hey, we going to the Lombard Ale Fest on Saturday" an the phone should do it, no questions to me, just F'ing do it. No "Do you really want to send this message, ok say Send it. **** you, yeah I want you to send it, or I wouldn't have asked in the first place, **** off Google, don't talk back to me.

It really doesn't use that much power, the sd820 is equipped with the hexagon DSP and that should take care of it in a really efficient way. Remember that the HTC is always reading it's sensors for the motion launch gestures to work.

Every new Google phone it's the same issue. In my office or elsewhere in the house and the dumb Nest Hub in the other room floor answers all Google Assistant questions.
I know the Nest Hub in the other room can not hear but it always answers. Even if I use the Google Assistant without talking the nest hub in the other room answers the question asked on the phone.
A few months ago, one time, it asked if the correct speaker replied and I said no. Never asked again and still don't work.
Just to clarify, are you asking your phone Google Assistant with or without saying "Hey, Google..."?
Because every time I use "Hey, Google" at home, I've never had it answer on my phone rather than my Minis or Hubs. I think the whole point is that they answer rather than your phone since you're home. And that notification asking if the right speaker responded I've gotten a bunch of times but it's only been for the speakers, not the phone. Now if I wanted only my phone to answer, I would've tapped the mic or hold the power button, yes I use that option.

It seems to be a design choice by Google:
If you’re near your Google Home device and phone, only Google Home should respond to "Hey Google." Both devices may wake up, but your phone should go back to sleep.

So, apparently the system is designed to prioritize a Google Home device OVER your phone.

So last week I caught something like if you say "hey google wrong device" it will then prompt you as to what device.....something like that.....cant exactly remember the specific phrase.....wrong device, wrong person....it was something like that....GL!

I understand that's what they've said but I'm not near the device and it does not hear me say "Hey Google". As I said, even if I manually activate Google Assistant on the phone without saying anything, the nest hub and the other room or floor still answers the question given. If both devices are right next to each other and they both hear the question, sure, what Google is doing would be okay but in this case I'm not next to the other device and the other device didn't hear the question. I don't understand why they would override the assistant to such a degree. Just because you're home, what if you're out in the garage and the stupid nest home is answering the question that you asked on your phone.

That's why I asked how you were asking Google Assistant on your phone. I've never had my speakers answer instead of my phone. That's really strange.

OP - "Even if I use the Google Assistant without talking the nest hub in the other room answers the question asked on the phone."
If elsewhere with the phone and I say "Hey Google" or click the mic and then keyboard and I'm home the Nest Hub responds.

I just messed with it some again and it seems that if I am next to the Nest Hub with the Phone and they bother hear me I can get the prompt asking which device should have answered. If I'm right next to both I don't really care, it's when I'm in the other room or outside that it's unhelpful for the Nest Hub to answer everything.
I told it to cancel something and then it asked what device should answer.
Do you happen to be running the preview program on any of your hubs? It might be a feature that's not usually with the standard software.

All stock, just use them to answer questions and see video from the doorbells.
I posted this question in the A13 Beta 4 thread but didn't got any feedback, so post it as a separate question to see if someone can help.
I switch to A13 since beta 2 and just updated to beta 4, everything seems run smoothly. However, I just found out that my "Google Assistant" lost the "beep" sound! What it means is that if I say "OK, Google" or "Hey, Google", I can carry out to give the command or instruction as I want but I am losing the "Ting" sound of the reaction once I say "OK Goolge" or "Hey Google". It's not really a big deal but just gave me a funny feeling as I would have to look at the phone screen to see if Google Assistant really working. All I can say is that I don't know when this is started as I didn't use Google Assistant for quite a long time, but it is definitely working when my P6P was on A12.
Can't someone confirm if this is just me or if there is a setting I can get this "beep" sound to come back. I play around with the phone for a couple hours and couldn't figure out any setting in "Google" app, "Assistant" app and system sound to have this be related.

You have to turn on an accessibility option. Once I remember where it's at I will post again

And then you turn on switch access but it doesn't make the system run as smoothly for some reason. I want the beep as well but I had to eventually turn the option off. Try it out. Don't see if you like it

Thanks for pointing me to this. Like you said, I don't like it at all! I even not giving enough time to see if it would affect how the system runs but getting an accessibility slider when volume button is pressed when "Switch Access" is turned on already make me hate it. I couldn't find a thing how this accessibility slider is doing but definitely don't want it to appear whenever I press the volume button.
I never turn on anything in Accessibility menu, always leave it as default. This seems to be a A13 thing as I remember that the Assistant has the beep when I was on A12. Anyway, I will try to make myself get used to this behavior.
Like the title says, I just got a brand new Samsung Galaxy s22 plus and I use Google Voice typing all the time. I will dictate an entire paragraph only to look down and see only the first word typed. It doesn't matter what app I use it just types the first word. And then just turns itself off. It's very annoying and I don't like my new phone as much because of this. LOL I went to the useless Google community and posted there and no one's answered. The only thing I could see was to do a device cash wipe which I didn't understand for a new phone but I went ahead and did it anyway and it didn't help. Any recommendations would be appreciated
