Hey, I just started this thread to give an idea about how I've been thinking these days and how I can see that this phone isn't an old phone anymore...
LG G3 is a popular phone ... well that means developement on our G3 is huge, we have a plenty of custom ROMs out there waiting for you, stock or AOSP one and from kitkat to android N the latest version of android, well we may be confused about what is the best choice for us ( battery life, performance, beauty ....), well I've been thinking : I am a man who really love AOSP ROM for it's design, but camera is really bad on it (comparing to stock ROM), on Stock ROMs I can't install or get other android updates (since it is stopped for our G3 )
well I have an idea : I can install them both using MultiROM and I am using Fulmics 6.6 as primary with cm13 and miui 8 and I am testing cm14.1 (unofficial)
so guys what do you think about the best combination that you can get using MultiROM or Dualboot app ?

Hi All,
Getting the G3 this week, brand new (Snapdragon version). Can't wait to put a custom AOSP ROM on it. Question though, before this comes out:
I heard the 5.0 OTA Update will be coming out this week and wanted to know if this means we will get much faster development to an AOSP 5.0 Lollipop rom with far less bugs because LG is putting it out theirs first.? I would imagine all the code can be extracted and used and helps elimiate bugs for XDA's amazing developers, and makes the transition a lot smoother, than if the developers were to go from 4.3 or 4.4 straight to 5.0 with no release from LG? Can anyone confirm? I'm very excited
Lastly, which is the best G3 AOSP ROM? Which are you most excited about for Lollipop?
Cheers

LG releasing source code will be a huge boost to developers working on Lollipop AOSP builds. We have some very talented developers working on this and even have some booting ROMs.
As far as "best" ROMs, that question is not allowed on XDA. Best is extremely subjective and such questions tend to cause fights.
The best rom is the one that suits your needs.
The best rom is the one I'm running that week.
Sent Via Morse Code (-.. .- -.)
so i was using stock kitkat rom for almost a year now. yes i havent updated to lollipop cause i was rooted.
and now im planning to install a custom rom, because stock rom are not as smooth as they were as they first were.
and im looking for a change, lollipop roms preferably.
so which roms suits me the most, cloudy or cyanidel rom? the important thing of course is battery life and performance.
thank you!
Cloudy all the way may have to do a few tweaks to get to your liking on top of xcam for replacent for stock app i flash all kinds of roms and crap and always come back to cloudy xposed works pretty good there are a few modules i have probs with but no major deal breakers
---------- Post added at 11:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:51 AM ----------
My opinion of coarse i like almost all the roms out for g3 multi varients all of them have there own special quirks i like
Cloudy is based on stock so you have all the advantages of the stock rom like:
-Camera driver
-Good battery life
-Stability
And for cyanide, its based on cyanogenmod, the adventages are:
-Smooth like butter
-Features
The choice is up to you depending of what you really want. Personally I'd go with a stock based rom because of the camera driver and the stability, I add xposed and I can have a lot of features.
But you can try one, do a nandroid backup, try the other and go back if you don't like it!
okay i think im gonna go for cloudy since i actually prefer stock feelings too.
one more question, can cloudy use lgg3tweakbox, Xinsta, Xstana using xposed without no problem?
some people says lg g3 on lollipop cant use some modules for e.g lgg3tweakbox
I use grav box tweekbox major one that dont work for me is advanced power menu
When u setup cloudy make sure u click in aroma installer to use exposed also you havento manually install the framework after u flash framwork zip youll thing u bootlooped but first boot after exposed takes a couple on min

I tried the following roms for the LG G3:
crDROID (AOSP Based Rom - Android 5.1.1)
Cloudy3G 2.5 (Stock based Rom - Android 5.0.X)
Fulmics 1.6 (Stock based Rom - Android 5.0.X)
My opinion:
crDroid : It was the smoothest rom I've tried until now but the I was disappointed by the battery life. The camera app is not the same as the stock rom camera app so the pictures quality is inferior.
Cloudy3G 2.5 : It was laggy for me, and it has a few bugs like the UI crashing when the phone is charging. The GPS has bugs as well. Cloudy is not being developed anymore.
Fulmics 1.6 : For now is the best stock based rom I've tried. It's smooth and it's always based on the latest updated stock rom from LG. Even better, the updates are via OTA so it's faster to update to the latest version of this custom rom.
Been really enjoying cloudy and I am super picky. I think you will be impressed, the developer did a really good job. Its working better than stock for me and feels quick no lag here.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
For me, Fulmics ROM is better than Cloudy. Its much smoothier and I had gps problems on Cloudy.
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
so cloudy has gps problems? i used gps a lot that could be a problem for me.
i never check fulmics before.
what about cyanidel? no one mentions cyanidel?
so i switc hed to fulmics 2.0 just updated 2.1 and i love it smoother than cloudy and about the same battery life

I think it's because not a lot of people right now has been using cyanide (no updates since forever) and rr and bliss pop has taken the cm based limelight
Cloudy is okay but have some issues that will make you wanna flash another rom
Fulmics is much better but personally i've been losing data connectivity every once in a while.
Maybe try old timers like Lion, Chup Chups or Spartaxxx if you want stock
Or you can always try the cm based ones... like cyanide
So im done with stock kitkat lg g3 rom, i refused to update to official lollipop.
So ive been using stock rom for almost a year, and its getting really slow as time goes by, as expected. So i decided im gonna try a fresh new rom to flash.
Which one of you prefer, so fsr ive heard the best is
1. Cloudy
2. Fulmics
Which one is better to flash?
Im not gonna buy a new phone anytime soon cause i think lg g3 is still a beast with good specs even for 2016.
So which one should i flash and why?
Pls list advantage or disadvantage of each rom you prefer me to flash that would be great!
I say CloudyG3 (because of LG G4 UX) with Xceed kernel
Fulmics has more features, but personally I don't like old G3 UX as much as newer G4 UX
My advice: Try both and make your own decision

Totally agree, I had both and stayed with Cloudy because of G4 UX and apps.
Tried CM12.1, Cloudy 2.5 and Fulmics.
They are all really great with their own pros/cons. For me at least, the biggest let down for CM12.1 was camera functionality. CM just did not play nice at all.
Fulmics was nice, but the G4 theme port from Cloudy is money. Been on it for the past several days and usually feel the need to swap ROMs. Not with this one. Its a nice bump from stock G3 (d850).

Whats the advantage on using xceed kernel on cloudy?
Better battery life and performance?
Or i should just be fine with stock kernel with cloudy?
So i guess cloudy is the winner here. I like the g4 ux too.
But i heard some has gps problems on cloudy. If i do encounter it after i flashed cloudy, is there a way to fix it?
There is a rom called NovaStock 5.5 its awesome give a try to it, awesom battery life, no lag you will not be disappoint from it at all. But its not on xda. If anyone wants link PM me.

It is smoother and has more features than default Cloudy kernel. Can't say much about battery life, but it could be better too.
P.S. Install Synapse to control most of kernel setting.

Nougat-based development is still in its early stages. While the G3 device tree is already rather stable, there are still lots of issues with apps.

As far as I know, there's no cleanrom for G3. Best shot will likely be CM14.1 these days. At least, they've got a pretty good device maintainer and everyone else is borrowing the device tree from there.
so you recommended me to wait a couple of days, weeks ?

If you are unhappy with your current ROM, you may as well give it a try. At least, nougat on G3 is fast, and the remaining bugs are not bad enough to make it unusable.
If you need something completely stable, you will likely have to wait a few more months.
what about situation now? any news? stable roms 7.1?
Hello guys, which is the best AOSP rom / cm ? I mean Stability and battery . I am now software stock, but the pure android attracts me more. The thing is I do not want to install one build every week , I want something stable . Thank you
CM is very stable. I like it very much and would recommend it. Sorry for the very late answer
broken
Running latest Cm nightlies, runs great
Since I am using marshmallow i notice that there is a battery drain and low performance, so i decide that why not use Kitkat rom after using it i am still amazed.
What's your suggestion ?
Do you know about multirom? It can help you have mm and kk just about a reboots distance.but it does require rooting and custom recovery(which I'm guessing you already have)
As for kk vs mm, i haven't tried sense based mm roms but with most of aosp based mm roms that i have tried devlop some quirk sooner or later .it does not break the daily use of the phone just an irritant.i only use mm because of doze. Because it really helps standby battery use . And with my sprint m8 , i can run mm roms with lp firmware , so its like best of both worlds.if you can live with an old ui then kitkat is still very relavant(as far as i know no major app is unusable on kitkat)

Thanks for your post, but can u tell me your rom that u using because i am having Harman/Kardon Edition.
A couple which suited me best
Turbo rom (had signal loss, dont know if it actually was signal problem or rom failed to correctly :nterpret signal strength, because other roms didnt)
Vanir aosp (still using)
CrDroid
cyanogenmod 13
Dirty unicorns
Resurruction remix( failed to get it to work properly ,got a lot of fc,but that was a 2months before)
Bliss pop - got slow after a while
Edit: oh and as for kitkat, haven't tried anything other than offical cm 11 and sense 6 official rom, both were rock solid without any issue
One more thing ,if you are big on audio, and is a fan of neutron music player, you can forget it on mm,audio quality degrades faster than a politician's character after election and other music players too can't match sense rons for audio quality but with neutron, difference is very high
would u prefer performance or design?
I will prefer customization mostly, performance at the expense of quality or stability or lack of customization is unwelcome in my phone
KK is almost 2 years old. Are you purposely omitting Lollipop, or just forgetting it exists (since you know, there is an "L" between K and M)?
KK is missing a huge number or security fixes. Being on an Android version that old is a terrible idea from a security perspective.
stock gpe mm or sense 6 with kitkat?
rooted can be optional
