I've always used heavy duty cases with a built in screen protector but I punch them out and use the screen naked. I'm a mechanic and usually have dirt etc on my hands when I use my phone. I've never had a issue with a scratched screen.
Recently I bought my young son a phone (without gorilla glass) and the case I bought him came with a tempered glass screen protector so I put it on there and I really liked it (I've never used one before) so I put one on my 6p and like the added piece of mind.
On to my dilemma, I bought a pixel xl the other day and was using it naked since my case and screen protector hasn't come in yet. While eating dinner one night the phone slipped out of my pocket and onto my laminate wood floor. When I picked it up it had a scratch across the screen so bad I thought the screen was cracked. Luckily the phone was defective (bad sim slot or something, would drop service randomly) and had to be exchanged. I'm leaving the new phone in the box until my case gets here but the screen protectors are here and they suck. They are too small and no matter what I can't install them perfectly straight to cover the whole viewing area. Looks like I'm going to have to run the phone without a screen protector but I'm afraid the screen will get scratched again since the first phone for such a bad scratch and over never had this problem with other phones.
Anyone else have their screen scratch easily? I've attached a photo of the scratch which doesn't do it justice of how deep and long the scratch was and a photo of the screen protector improperly installed (super hard to line up correctly, no margin for error).

The screen protectors are like a mm or two shorter around because of the beveled edge. You will never get 100% of the screen covered at this time. If the screen protectors were full size, the edge bevels would cause bubbling and also make it easy to peel off.
This is from reading many reviews on tons of screen covers. I'd assume a nice case + screen glass would make it almost invisible to the naked eye.
That's my problem, I don't think a proper glass screen protector will ever be available for this phone. At this point I think the pixel has too many strikes against it and I might return it and stick with my 6p. I just hope if I do that the 6p will work OK with daydream.

This is going to be an issue with most phones going forward now, 2.5D glass (or glass with a slight curve to it) looks nicer and feels nicer and therefore manufactures will use it. I personally have a tempered glass screen protector that covers the viewable screen portion of the front of the phone and it still feels every bit as premium as it did with out it. I currently use my phone in the google case (in grey) and i love it, i have a couple of skins on their way though so I will be ditching the case soon. I have a scratch on the rear glass panel but this will be covered up soon hopefully.
If you are quick Tempered Glass Screen Protectors for the Pixel XL are dead cheap as companies try to establish a customer base for their products. I picked up two for £0.01 and 99p postage on amazon.

What screen protector do you have? I ordered another brand. I'll be using the i-blison ( or whatever brand it is) heavy duty case and am hoping to find a proper screen protector. To be honest I wouldn't even use one if the first screen didn't scratch so easily/ bad since with all my other phones I've had such good luck. I plan to use this phone with daydream tho so I need a screen without scratches.

Looking at the OnePlus 3 since it has 2.5d glass and has been out for a while and came across this screen protector: https://youtu.be/8ZgKLWhwoPo
Hopefully something like this will come out for the pixel xl, it looks much better and would go great with a case that has a thick lip.

I have used this one.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tempered-S...51182&sr=8-7&keywords=pixel+XL+tempered+glass
I am now using this one, i only removed the first so I could review this one after being sent it for free - It is exactly the same as above but more expensive.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Protector-...1182&sr=sr-1&keywords=pixel+XL+tempered+glass
Both cover the width of the visible screen and are 1.5mm short of the two and bottom of the phone. The glass has a cut out for the proximity sensor and do not cover the front facing camera. No halo effect as they are a bit smaller than the front of the phone and so far no scratches or lifting. As mentioned I currently use it with the official google grey case.

Yeah I imagine most of the early ones are from the same manufacturer in China.
Gorilla Glass 4 isn't better than the previous version(s). Besides, they make the phone scratch resistant, not scratch proof.. Sand, tiny little diamonds cut through just about anything...
Glad you at least had a remedy of having it exchanged for some other hardware failure, otherwise you'd had to get an insurance exchange and paid the deductible..

IMHO using a wet install protector like skinomi or xtremeguard and worry less about it.

Nexus 6, LG G4, Samsung 4 5 6, iphone 6s+ and many more all have had the same problems, like its been mentioned, newer phones use new tech like 2.5D screens which have curves. Its the cheap tgsp manufacturers that dont warrant the expense of making expensive tgsp that fit the curves.

I thought that I could get used to it, but my fingers get caught up on it ever time I swipe, and the two lines on the screen it creates are obnoxious.
Was OnePlus being cheap here, did they make a mistake, or is a proper screen protector just not feasible because of the increasing curve on the edges of the screen?
I don't want to get ripped or end up in a worse situation by buying their tempered glass or third party protectors of they are thicker and have the same dimensions...

They intended the screen protector to be there just so people have one on their phone. They weren't trying to prevent you from enjoying it obviously. It is for protection. From what I heard, people love the screen protector. Granted it may not be perfect but they did try. I have a protector for my One and the protector is a bit small for the screen but that's because of the way the phone was built. I'm assuming its the same way for the 3. Filling out the screen to the edges with a screen protector just warrants more cracks when you look at it from an angle. Just because it is a little lacking doesn't mean it won't protect your phone.

Screen protectors on a phone with 2.5D glass is pretty difficult to do well. Even the plastic/film protectors will lift at the edges..

Not sure what you mean by how the OnePlus One was built, I have a screen protector on mine and it covers the screen and bezels comfortably, it's never been an issue.
On my OnePlus 3 there are two black lines within the screen because the protector is so narrow and now those lines are also accumulating debris. No need to be so blindly loyal to a smartphone company. I love the phone, but I just wanted to know if all screen protectors on the market for the OnePlus 3 will be this narrow or if OnePlus just ****ed this up.

The OP3 has a 2.5D screen (Like the Nexus 6 does) and having a protector go from edge to edge without having massive airbubbles around the edges is extremely hard. Lookup the "halo" on Nexus 6 and you'll see why they didn't
That's not a screen protector. It's just packing. You are supposed to peel it off and toss it immediately you open the box.

The screen protector is thin and unobtrusive. I hardly notice it's there, except when I go to write the screen with my shirt and feel grateful I don't have to worry about scratching it. I don't find the barely noticeable lines near the screen edges annoying; certainly, scratches on my new phone's screen would bother me much more.

I agree the screen protector is not anything you want to keep, but admit it is nice that it is there at least. When I got my Oneplus One within the first week I put the tiniest of a little scratch on my screen from my keys in my pocket. No one else sees it but I know it is there. All that because I was waiting on my tempered glass screen protector. So, until I figure out which brand of tgsp I want to put on this thing I am glad it is there...but yeah my fingers are not smooth on this thing.

Agree with you on ateast the effort from OP. However I am not very convinced about its usage. Shouldn't gorilla glass 4 protect itself from minor crap like scratches?
On tempered glasses, reading a lot about Nillkin H+ Pro. You can check it out.

Yeah I have been reading about those too and contacted them. They actually have the "Frosted " case for the 3 too just not on the site. Suppose to order the 2 and leave in the notes you want the 3. Lot of people here at xda seem to like that case too. I personally have not used them yet. I have a PTHINK tgsp on my One and LOVE IT! It feels better than the factory glass. Already contacted them and they have not started making them for the 3 yet.

I had the same issue on my moto x gen2. Was worse when I used tempered glass. The curve on the edges of the screen make this difficult. With this being gorilla 4 glass I'll remove my protector on op3 once I get my dbrands skins on.

Couldn't agree more! Now I'm just a redneck who wears bibs all the time so I need something to protect the screen from the buttons on my bibs. I tried at least 2 times to appy tempered glass to my 1+ (who the hell came up with those stupid tabs?) only to FAIL. I found a simple solution- buy a flip cover. Now it takes a little getting used to, but it works very well. The only issue I had was on the rare occasion that I needed to put it my pocket, I made sure that I didn't have anything eles in there with it. But after 2+ years of going commando with my 1+, I can say that screen protectors are a waste of money!
Just found this on Amazon. Tempered glass Supposed to work well with the round edges.

better than nothing, right?
Guess no one has the s8+ to try yet but with previous models with curved glass, what glass screen protector did you find that worked best? That had the best fitament?
I ended up cracking my screen on my note 7, I had the IQ shield on, it held the crack in place but didn't prevent the crack from happening when the phone fell out of my pocket.
This time around I want a glass screen protector that would take the crack in place of the actual screen.
Suggestions?
No curved screen protectors stick the right way. They only have glue on the outside edges.
Yeah after watching the drop tests, I am very concerned about the curved screens. Might actually take the Samsung warranty at least for a year.
I've given up on screen protectors and just go with a minimal case, worked great for me and have dropped it plenty of times

Honestly, me too. I never drop my device though. Works so much better with a naked screen too. Screen protectors produce a slight lag.
loads already available on ebay and amazon... maybe it's improved over the s7 edge... haven't had any offers yet for free testing... i wouldn't mind trying some glass for free for a review
There has yet to be a curved screen protector for any device that worked reliably on more then a few individuals phones. It's been this way for years, and just because we have the S8 coming... well that has not changed. They will all still suck for the most part. You might get lucky with one, but most as in the past, never will.

Yea I agree, most curved glass protectors suck. They don't have full adhesive through out, usually just the edges. Which causes lag or loss of sensitivity from the air gap. With the curved edges, its hard to completely squeeze out the bubbles and they get trapped, with the glass protectors. Easier to do when everything is flat.
Someone needs to invent one that is thick as glass but applies like the film ones then hardens like the tempered.
I look at it this way. Yes, most do not stick on completely. I'd take a few bubbles over a cracked screen. on my Note 7 i used one that just covered the flat part and didn't cover the edge, looked like ****, but made me feel a little better in case of a drop. Hopefully the companies make better ones.

Edge only. Every glass protector for the s6 and s7 edge were all edge only. And ( wait for it. )..... they all sucked. Either had the rainbow effect, clicking sounds, and it would limit the screen's responsiveness in spots. Because they don't fit right, crap comes in under ever single hole and edge on it. There never has been one that covered the edges that worked. Just l like the last 2 iterations of the phone, if you must have glass, wait for the vendors to figure out it doesn't work .. again.. and then make one that only covers the flat parts of the screen and looks like crap.. but it works.
Even GPEL decided to make case freindly screen protectors:
https://www.gpelstore.com/collections/galaxy-s8-screen-protector-tempered-glass-collection
As all we won't know if they work or not until someone tries it.
Was able to use a case friendly case to work well with UAG case but that's after 3 or 4 TGSP. But as many not exactly perfect and one strand of particle got through. It's on a position that doesn't bother but you still know its there.

A case with a lip large enough on the top and bottom to protect the screen from hitting if it were to fall flat. I can't stand the wet apply ones, and the normal plastic ones are not much better. It's been in my pocket etc and I have no scratches at all. It's not ideal, but there were no other options. I do wish there was.

sorry OT on OP but what brand was that case you used, hopefully they will have one for the s8+
Picked up the Samsung Screen Protector yesterday - knew it was a plastic one not tempered glass, but after experiencing issues with the tempered glass protectors on my wife's S7 Edge I thought I'd just go with the one Samsung sold.
Unfortunately I'm not happy with it at all - looked fine on the phone by itself, but kept lifting up on the edges as soon as I put a case on it (Spigen Slim Armor)
So given the choice of screen protector or case - I think I'll go with case.
Even when I pushed the edges down while the case was on it still kept lifting - this is what it looked like after an hour in my pocket:

Nothing was available when I preordered the phone. So I ordered the Liquid Nano stuff from Amazon. It's supposed to fill in any of the imperfections in the glass and help prevent cracks and scratches. So far so good, but it hasn't been a week yet. I'm a little skeptical but I haven't seen any screen protectors that look worth a damn. I don't believe we'll ever see a good curved glass protector, one with adhesive on all sections of the glass. I will say the liquid nano seems to repel skin oils really well and it says it'll last 2 years. I'll give it a month before I say it's good or not.

Bought this too. It's fully compatible with the Ringke Slim case since it doesn't lift around the edges. The only issue I've had with this screen protector is that the edges seem to collect dust - after 2 days, it looks like there's a thin white border all around. At least it doesn't lift with my case.
The Suprecool Screen Protector for S8 Plus in itself is great, I cannot even feel it, and it feels like it will be at least some form of protection, I have yet to drop it, and don't really feel like testing my Phone.
Can clearly see that it's your case peeling the protector, get a new case that doesn't lift the protector off, apply it correctly and you will have no issues.
Im using the same protector but with the clear case from Samsung wich doesn't peel the protector like yours is doing, no issues, ill take one pic tomorrow.
I ended up getting a pack of these after I posted on April 24th and I was able to successfully install the first one flawlessly and it's still on looking great. No peeling or anything. Wasn't hard to install either. Had a few small bubbles that disappeared within an hour.

Any updates regarding the liquid nano? Which brand did you bought?
I think it's not available in India
Edit:- Here it is.. but I have doubt that it's not genuine because all 38 reviews from out side of India

I use the official Samsung Screen Protector and also use the Alcantara case and have had no problems. In fact, all the cases I've used have had no problems with this screen protector. There is a very slight edge lift on all the edges, but it shouldn't interfere with the screen and it shouldn't continue past the bezels. Mine was installed in the Samsung Store by an employee.

This lip on all the edges was actually my problem, in fact it was a little bit more pronounced on the right edge; but you could feel it clearly when swiping and it obviously collects dust in time, looking more and more terrible....

Hm, that's interesting. It hasn't happened to me... yet. I've had the screen protector for about a month. I'll update if this does happen unless I get some major scratch soon.

I don't see anything wrong with the transparency of the screen protector. It seems good to me. Maybe you got a bad one?

I don't know. But it was perfectly aligned and installed by the seller in Samsung Store.....
If you say it didn't raise further from the edges and didn't collect dust in about a month, maybe I'll try another one...
Thanks!
Got this and no issues with it yet. The screen feels more natural (like the actual phone) as opposed to the spigen one i used - which ironically the reason why i changed was because it was lifting after a coupe of hours.
the case is the issue - not the screen protector.
Re the nano liquid - waste of money. Mine slide down my ironing board when I folded it, and gently hit the floor and folded face down onto wood flooring - result was a chip in the middle of the glass. These merely help to keep the screen a little cleaner. Thats all.
Hi all,
Starting this thread to see which tempered glass protector is best for the u11 plus.
The phone apparently, from what I’ve read, has a flat front display which should make it easier to find good protection.
I have mine preordered with HTC in the UK and am patiently awaiting delivery for me to be able to test some I bought from Amazon.
Please feel free to add any of your own experiences and opinions.
Thanks all!

Ive pre ordered the phone but already brought a screen protector from ebay, as its a flat front with no finger reader it looks pretty simple. Once I get the phone I will post some pics but only cost £3 so cant moan if it not perfect.
Mine came with a tempered glass. It seems official from HTC. Haven't placed it yet though so I wouldn't know about quality.

The one i got off ebay was crap, it just fills the screen itself rather than all the little bezels.
Got one from Brotec, it's crap, too small and it's peeling at the top, bought another brand from amazon.
Bought the below linked one and it's pretty much perfect for me.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07799J3ZH?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd
Full screen coverage and full adhesive too! I'm definitely impressed.

I bought this too, wouldn't stick, acted like it was flat and the screen was curved. It's in the bin now awaiting a replacement...
got this one and was a load of crap, fine for a day then started peeling on each edge

Got another one on order so will come back when i get it.

Another 1 not to buy, fits really well, sticks well but the glass part as no sticky bits which means there is a tiny gap between glass and protector which makes a oily like bubble in the the middle of the screen

I bought the same but I have the same problem, edges are white as if the screen is curved.
I asked the company to give me the other screen protector they have but it`s even worst: it doesn`t even cover the panel and it`s still white on the edges.

I'm not 100% happy with it but its staying on. I had to give it about 3/4 days for the middle to bed down properly but not it has its not too bad at all.

Bought this one: https://www.amazon.es/Protector-Oly...8&qid=1515012199&sr=8-2&keywords=htc+u11+plus
It's much better than Brotec, but it's not perfect, can see the residue from the glue on the corners.
Thinking in buying this one from ultimateshield: https://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/co.../htc-u11-plus-tempered-glass-screen-protector
It sucks so much trying to find a decent screen protector that works with a case! I tried the beyeah one and it didn't work with my case, the edges lifted. Tried the more cut out version just to find out that it doesn't even cover the whole screen horizontally wtf? I'm just thinking about giving up

Yes same situation here. Tried both of Beyeah screen protector but they are really bad, one is too big and the other is too small.
I don`t know why is so difficult to cut the screen protector correctly, it should be easy
the best one I found is this one : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Pack-H...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
its pretty much full coverage with slight gaps for a case, its stayed stuck down for nearly a week now! The main downside is there's sometimes a gap in the middle as it doesn't have sticky stuff on the glass itself. this displays as a oily like tiny part but it hardly noticeable, only really see it in certain light conditions. The longer I've had it on the better its got so not really an issue for me.
Ugh, this is a pain to find a decent screen protector for the device. I'm considering Ultimate Shield Tempered Glass Screen Protector, however that ADDS big bezels onto the side bezels of the phone; as seen in videos of Ultimate Shield Screen Protectors. There is a good one by Olixar but that is for Pre-Order only, and waiting for it to come out but have been waiting for a while. Any suggestions anyone?

I bought this same one on the day you posted this and I've had no issues with it. Is a good fit and hasn't caused any issues with my case.
Originally bought that terrible beyeah one that didn't even fit the screen and that went back for an immediate refund.

Just ordered this one, lets see how it functions.
As for the list "not to buy" https://www.belsimpel.nl/accessoire-detail/mobilize-safety-glass-screenprotector-htc-u11-plus
Its from a dutch company. The screen protector is WAAY to small for the screen.
Are you going to get a Tempered Glass Screen Protector for your Pixel 3? I might give caseology a try on this one but I'm probably going to wait at least a month to see reviews.
For now I'm going to try this

Get a few from these guys while you're waiting. Keep your screen somewhat protected until we have time to figure out the best screen protectors.
These flexible glass screen protectors have been a game changer for me.
http://www.protectionfilms24.com/ar...n-protector-clear-google-pixel-3-2733580.html
I prefer thin cases and traditional tempered glass is so thick that it sticks up beyond the lip of my case. These protect like glass, but flex just enough to not shatter on the first drop.
I am not affiliated with Brotect in any way. Just sharing my experience.
Until Whitestone Dome comes out with a screen protector for the Pixel 3/XL (or Belkin joins the Made for Google gang), you can pretty much guarantee that all options are going to provide a sub-optimal experience (rainbow effect, smaller than the viewable display, weak and visible adhesive, etc).
I've ordered the Verizon branded one so it's ready for when my phone arrives. I'm not optimistic in the least bit, but it's some sort of protection until hopefully Whitestone drops some love on the P3.

I hope you're right that Whitestone Dome comes out with their own version for the pixel 3. I love the one that's on my pixel 2 XL. It's perfect no bubbles
I too purchased the Verizon glass screen protector for my Pixel 3 but, when WhiteStone comes out with theirs I will def buy. Had one on my S9 and it was the total best experience for a glass screen protector. As long as you follow the directions and have patience it far outweighs any other protector with regard to clarity, screen adhesion, and toughness.
My Pixel 3 XL arrived this am sooner than expected. Was thinking of stoping by the Verizon Store to see if they have any of theirs in stock until something solid starts to surface. I have Whitestone on XL 2. It's shattered and cracked but great!! I ordered a Bodyguard but thinking of canceling it. Anyone got pics of anything installed? IntelliArmor, Verizon, etc.? Already seeing the cheap China brand reviews pop up on Amazon as bunk. Just hoping something is decent since the curve seems not so extreme.
Installed the Verizon protector last night and have to say it's not bad at all. I like that it has adhesive all over vs just the edges, so no rainbow effect. Took my time to align with masking tape (make sure the screen is lit when you do it) and I'm very happy with the end result. I had bubbles that wouldn't initially go away, but figured they would once the screen warmed up (and they did). The fit is also great, covers all of the viewable display.
I'd say this one is a winner (esp. for the price).

Do your edges lift? I stopped in a store yesterday and let them apply it. It does not stick around all the side edges and a few places on the bottom and top edges.

Did they use a template to apply it or guesstimate the application? I had mine arrive in the mail so I installed it myself. I don't have any lifting on the edges. You can try to warm up your screen by having it play a video for 20-30 mins then try pressing down on the edges that are coming up. Might work.

Nah, he eyeballed it. He also had to pull it and reset it a few times so I think he exceeded the capacity of the adhesive to handle it. I can take it in and let them try again or get a refund. Good to know there is a chance it can stick. I might hit it with a hair dryer today. I agree with you looks like it should stick.
I know it's not tempered glass but the LK wet install screen protector fits very well and the install is easy (for a wet install).
I generally don't like these type of screen protectors, but thought this would be a good quick option to hold me over until better ones are available.
I just received the iq shield 9h blah blah blah, from Amazon, and it came right back off. Worse than an old otterbox. I'll be returning it on Monday. It doesn't touch at all at the top and bottom, and barely in the middle.
I really liked their liquid skin on my one plus 3, will be going back to a soft screen protector.
Used tempered glass on my old n4 and n6 and never looked back. Tried to give the cover on the poetic case a chance for a day but I just didn't feel it had the same protection if I kept keys in my pocket. Might prevent surface scratches but would not re-distribute pressure along the entire screen if it ever pushed too hard against it. tempered glass protectors are on the way.
Is anyone using the ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass+ for the regular Pixel 3 and can give some feedback?

Flexible glass screen protector installed. Edges aren't perfect, but it has good coverage around sensor and camera cutouts. Plus, it's super thin and doesn't touch the surface when placed face down.
Not bad for only $5
