Can you edit quick settings on Verizon Pixel XL? - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Can anyone with a Verizon Pixel XL confirm that you can edit the quick settings? I looked at a demo unit in store yesterday and couldn't see any way to do it.

Yes you can. Pull the notifications all the way down, click the pencil icon to edit the tiles.

Navbar on Pixel XL

Hi guys
Just wanna know one thing about navbar on Pixel XL.
Everywhere I saw the Pixel na Pixel XL has navbar Back Home Recent buttons full-filled and Home circle was with extra ring outside.
I have Pixel XL from December but I have every buttons like on screenshot, Home without extra ring outside.
Is this normal on Pixels on Oreo?
Not a big deal but I would be happy to know that.
Thanks in advance.

No that isn't normal for a pixel.
Well, I know what's wrong.
I changed language to US and navbar changed, also animation while home press appears, also Google Assistant started.
On my local language everything is turned off..
I can have US language, no problem but Google Now (swipe from left) displays news from US/UK places, not mineand I use it daily.
Anybody knows how to force (is it possible?) Google Now show news from my place with US language?

Screenshot Alternative

I'm on the pixel 2 xl February update 8.1 and I was wondering if anyone knew of a different way or app to take screenshots instead of the traditional volume down and power button. I used the button remapper by flar2 in the playstore and did not like it. Thanks in advance :good:
P Developer preview has it... finally!

I don't have an alternate suggestion for immediate use... but we now know that when Android P drops, the new way to take screen shots will be an option in the Power menu (e.g., choose between shut down, restart, screen shot) -- one hand / easy operation. You can try the developer build now, wait for beta in May (est), and it's generally thought that the official push will be sometime in Q3 -- maybe around August. I realize that Phone Years are even more accelerated than Dog Years, so five months feels more like five years, and some people will have bought and sold 3 phones by then. But at least we know what's coming in the official channel.

I think you need root
You have to create a new task -> run shell -> /system/bin/screencap -p /path/to/screenshot

Is there any way you can send me a screen shot of the way you have it set up? I have root
I use everywhere launcher. It has a screenshot button you can add which allows screenshots on screens prohibiting the stock screen shot Ike banking apps.

Is your phone rooted, to use Everywhere Launcher to get around the prohibition of screenshotting certain apps, like banking, Threema, and others?
So, Verizon variants of the Pixel 2 XL are out of luck then?

Hide the nav bar/pill button completely?

Can anyone confirm if you use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nobar that you can keep the gestures but remove the nav bar etc completely?
Download a app called Pie Controls off the app store. I have been using it on my Pixel 2XL since I bought it and will be one of the many apps that will be installed first when I get home to do some work.
You can always try,
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=*
Don't forget to exclude gapps
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.android.chrome,-com.android.vending,-com.google.android.gm,-com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox

This works. I use Swipe Navigation to navigate. Works well.
I think one plus gestures is awesome. I bought the app and have loved it ever since. Hides navbar completely.

What app? Thanks

The app is called "One Plus Gestures" They are similar to what is on One Plus phones but fully customization. It has a companion app that hides navigation without root.

I have a OP6 and love the gestures so if this hides the nav bar it's a no brainer for me, don't suppose you could post a screenshot showing how it looks?
I am wondering if this is a way to bring back to old style nav bars? Used to be able to add the line to the build prop then reboot and bam they were there. Dont understand why Google let you adjust the notch but not the navbar? It was pretty simple leave the line of code in that allows you to swap.
also curious if you can remove the pill completely in favor of swipe gestures, oneplus gestures are great, but would be better if the pixel 3xl supports this natively, if not, how can we hide the pill?

I would say that you are correct. I was comparing my 3 XL to my friends 2 yesterday and while both have Pie installed only he had that option to get the old navigation buttons back.
I really dislike these gestures, if anyone has run across an app or a setting to get the old three button navigation bar back please let me know. I haven't found much in my searching.
can we bring up the old nav bar yet ?
not a fan of gestures
I'm going to go against the grain: I think I *like* the new gestures instead of nav bar. I will admit I would significantly prefer a hardware home button, but in lieu of that, the gestures are fine. I've switched my 2 XL, for example, over to the new gesture system. To each their own -- if you don't like it, you just don't like it. But I would suggest trying it for a week or two.

From reviews I've heard the P3 has the option to bring back the old nav bar and the 3XL doesn't. Weird. I should be getting both of them in a few hours so i'll check out the difference.

Default Wallpaper, Ringtone, Notification and Alarm

Hey, can someone who owns a Pixel 3 XL tell me what the defaults to Wallpaper, ringtone, notification and alarm for the device as soon as it takes outside the box?
About the sounds, can I found it somewhere to download them?
Thanks!

You should post that request in the Pixel 3 forum.

Small Arrow On Pixel Launcher

This is a little bit of an OCD-type inquiry, but in other screenshots and reviews of the Google Pixel 3 XL I don't see this small, upward arrow visible. Do any other owners have it in on their device?

Yup have it also on my side. It's for the app drawer or the recents app

No it's not there by default,it will show if you are using gesture app like this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3-xl/themes/nav-bar-hide-gesture-navigation-app-t3858491
It will also appear if you have any apps that use accessibility services.
Accessibility Service
Ah, yes. An accessibility service is definitely what it is. I just wonder which one it is. Because I had this pop for me the other day too. I think I might have more than one service enabled. I don't feel like messing with them because they are such a pain.

Is there a way to disable that arrow from appearing when using an accessibility service?
I use evie launcher and it will let me remove google search bar and the arrow as well but not stock launcher
