OK I'm going to apologise now if this seems long but I think it important I enter as much info as I can. I have a problem with my M8 which is it will either not connect to my network provider H3G (Three here in the UK) or keep dropping off the network. It started three weeks ago I had happily been on GPE converted using enewman17 thread and all had been fine until I started getting messages telling me either my sim had been removed OR sim card added please restart your device these were numerous times a day. Things I have tried, a new SIM has not worked, I flashed back to a stock sense rom which has not worked either I still get no signal when my sim is inserted. I currently have my sim in my old Nexus 4 which is working perfectly. Now my daughter also has a M8 which is also on three network and working perfectly but I notice when in hboot all her info radio, OS ( x.xx.771.x) is different to mine. I had thought flashing a radio might be the way to go but I'm struggling to find the right one AND the right guide to follow. I'm superid, s-off, unlocked bootloader (don't think root as it's sitting with a newly flashed stock sense on, I know I'd appreciate a little guidance if someone is willing to try and help this poor old duffer out.. Thank you for reading. I have attached an image of my daughter's working m8.
Bit confused here .. yours is the one with problem (as I understand) or your daughter's one (as you post screenshot).
From the screenshot, that's running lollipop rom and correct radio and other details.
What you explained above (if it is not hardware related), looks like firmware mismatch problem.
Can you post your problem device fastboot getvar all then we'll see what you can try.

Sorry, yes mine is the problem, I thought a pic of my daughters firmware would help as it seems hers is just fine. That said, hers is running MM not lollipoop but that is another issue.

First - edit your post to remove serial & imei no.
Second - you have two options :
a) Revert to H3G and see whether this will fix your problem
1- install the latest H3G Marshmallow 6.13.771.4 firmware
2- install latest TWRP
3- restore the 6.13.771.4 nandroid backup
You can get the files and how-to from my thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Note : Your device is S-Off, no need to relock bootloader
b) reinstall stock 6.12.401.4 with RUU (as your current firmware is 6.12.401.4)
You can get the file and how-to - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
Note : Note : Your device is S-Off, no need to relock bootloader
I suggest option 1 first to see whether the problem is fixed or not.
Usually flashing the firmware alone may fix your problem too.

Hi,
I have the exact same issue. Bought a PAYG similar from Three and not by network is detected with it. Getvar all shows exact same as lisamybeth.
I follwed the guide above but am stuck on the last hurdle... Part B returning to stick RUU. It says to install and run Htc_fastboot.exe but I'm on a mac and can't install. Exe files. I tried to fsstboot RUU without the Htc_ prerequisite but I get an error message. What can I try as a work around?

if you have troubles flashing the RUU through fastboot using PC
you can flash the RUU without PC by renaming the RUU to 0P6BIMG.zip and place it on your sd card ( formatted as Fat32 ) then reboot to bootloader ( Hboot ) it will ask you to update just follow the on screen instruction
Sent from my HTC M8 using XDA Labs
I was able to HTC_factboot using my work PC which fixed the issue! fantastic guide thank you!
Now question is can i re-flash TWRP and install HD-revolution ROM and still have Three network access?

Just did it before your reply! Sorry I forgot to include it initially.
I saw it ... you have T-MOB US version-main on EU device.
If you want it to be stock EU lollipop 4.16.401.10, this thread is for you : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235
Or you can simply run RUU.exe - https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B17smFr95pleeTQ5U1NzNkZzM0U/edit?pli=1
RUU will flash your entire phone back to stock including recovery
HTC One M8 - OTA Update Error
Hello,
Could you please advise me on this,
Recently i purchased HTC One M8 from Aliexpress,
And it is a TEST Device, Hong Kong Edition.
I tried to update through OTA but after downloading it shows, " Your phone running modified version of Android, So installation will be cancelled"
I read some threads and i find it more complicated, I don't know what is the actual problem itself. Help me brother please.

Software No: 2.11.708.2
Android Version: 4.4.3

CID: 11111111
Post your fastboot getvar all result (minus serial no. & imei no.)
OTA depends on your CID/MID and version-main and most probably you have a wrong MID for the software version
You should have 0P6B63000 for your current software version

Your device MID is wrong. You need to change it to 0P6B63000
See this thread on how-to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581
and the command that you need is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54909204&postcount=136
after you change MID to 0P6B63000, install the stock recovery and try the OTA again.. it should work this time provided you have a pure stock 2.11.708.2 with all system files intact.

Thank you so much,
I have two questions ( I am sorry if it sounds dumb, i am a complete novice)
1. Does this process require Unlocked Boot-loader or Root?
2.Install stock recovery? Currently i have Stock Recovery, Is that necessary to install again after changing MID? If Yes, Could you share the thread link please?
Thanks for your time. Appreciate your help.
1. It requires root. If your ROM currently no root, then you need to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery like TWRP to install root/SuperSu
or .. unlock bootloader, install TWRP recovery .. no need to install root and you can run the command to change MID while in recovery.
2. If you already have stock recovery installed then no need. But I believe you need to do as no. 1 then you need to reinstall stock recovery.
All the files needed are in my thread as linked in my signature : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

Guys,
I fixed it by flashing Stock Recovery,
Thank you.
Hello,
Two months ago I upgraded my android version to 5.0.1, since then wifi problems start to appear.
There are two problems:
1) When the phone is sleeping, the wifi disconnect. once I wake the phone, even if it still locked, the wifi turns on again after 1 second. (I checked the advanced settings and "keep wifi on during sleep" is on "always").
2) Once I go from the wifi zone and come back after a while, I can't connect to the wifi. it just keep scanning, and when I tap on it to see available networks it just shows white page (switching wifi on and off doing nothing).
This problem can be solve by turning airplane mode on and off, but it only helps for one time - once I go away and come back to the same wifi zone I need to do it again.
*I tried factory reset, doesn't help.
*I flashed another rom, from HD revolution to ViperOne, and now my android version is 5.0.2, doesn't help.
*This problem happens in every router, not only in a specific one.
Maybe going back to the stock recovery will solve the problem, but I don't think so.
Thanks in advance

Your android version is software version but not firmware version. You can't update your firmware by flashing ROMs.
Post your fastboot getvar all (delete serial & imei no.) then maybe that getvar info will point to your actual problem.

Your radio low version suggest that you have a 3.x firmware installed, not 4.x which is required for 5.0.x android version.
Here is the latest RUU for your device version : http://dl3.htc.com.s3.amazonaws.com...G_20.68.4196.01_F_release_446501_signed_2.exe
Relock bootloader & run RUU.
Later you can re-unlock bootloader and install any custom ROM that you like

I'm pretty new to all this, so I'll be glad to have some explanation.
What's "ruu"? And how do I relock the bootloader?
What's the difference between Android version and firmware version?
I need to wipe something before I run ruu?
You think this is what cause the Wi-Fi problems?
Thank you!
Here is a good read for you : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52484527
relock bootloader - run command fastboot oem lock (after you put your device in bootloader/fastboot mode and connect to PC)
No need to wipe anything - the RUU will remove all and replace everything with the latest images - data, system, firmware and ROM
Your wifi problem as mentioned earlier because your firmware is old and has old radio baseband and not meet the minimum requirement for Android 5.0..x
An important note : after you done the RUU thing, to install custom ROM or to root, you need to install latest TWRP 2.8.7.0
Don't use the old TWRP recovery that you have .. as seen in your getvar all, there are a few missing info because of outdated TWRP

It's harder to help when you ask all non-related stuff. I don't mention anything about S-Off because it is not necessary.
I know your device is S-on, that's why I said relock bootloader
Only two steps :
relock bootloader - run comman fastboot oem lock
run RUU - right click the RUU and select run as administrator on windows context menu
What you need :
USB2.0 on PC
Latest HTC USB driver installed - if not sure, download HTC Sync Manager - http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
install it as it will install the latest driver then uninstall the HTC Sync Manager but leave the drivers.

RELOCKED is fine to run the RUU (as is LOCKED). UNLOCKED is the only status for that particular flag that prevents RUU.
You don't need s-off to RUU.
I relock the bootloader and run the ruu and now the wifi is working fine!
Thank you very much for your help!

I got the same wifi issue and I try exactly the same fix as #Avishay28 but they didn't work.
And now I know why thanks to you #redpoint73.

First - edit your post to remove serial & imei no.
Your baseband version suggest that you have a 3.xx.xxxx.x firmware installed.
You need a 4.xx.xxx.x firmware to have a working wifi when install a lollipop ROM.
What device that you have ? 0P6B16000 can be a Canadian device and some South American device. Update your firmware to the one meant for your device version.
My is Canadian device. I couldn't find a ruu version of device

There is no RUU available for Canadian device. At least tell what it is .. Rogers, Bell, Telus or ??? You can try to find a nandroid backup and stock recovery, restore then do OTA to update to the latest.
Or .. as your device is S-Off, you can change it WWE device i.e change MID to EU MID then install EU RUU.

Rogers
As I mentioned above try find a backup for device.
You need 3.34.631.4 and its stock recovery.
I already switch off my PC and in bed. Not sure whether I have those files in my collection.
I'll check tomorrow when I have time but try to find it first. Should be available.

can you post the files please ?thank you
Hi,
second try. First post didn't go through... good thing I didn't save what I typed.
I'm trying to update my firmware, I've read somewhere that a RUU is the easiest way to do so. The one I found "somewhere" doesn't go through with the update proses. It spits out error 155, bootloader is relocked hboot version is 3.16.000 and I'm S-on (not that I was able to change that).
I'm loosing my patience and I'm about to throw the phone in the trash. I've some one can point me to a RUU that work with it I'd be in your debt. The carrier is O2 Germany BTW.
thanks and happy new year.
Even though I can guess which RUU that you might need .. is best to post
fastboot getvar all result without serial & imei no. to confirm it
If it is really a O2, I'll link you the RUU

Yeah .. not to post them online.
Here is your RUU - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934555499
This will update your device directly to lollipop 4.20.206.1
then after check for software update, I believe there will be a few more OTAs

Thanks for the quick response. I've started the download, but slow internet means it'll take about 45min I'll report back once I'm done.
I realized I haven't really said anything about my intentions, I did that the first time I wrote the post which wasn't posted because my session in the forum got kicked or something.
I wanted to update CM to CM12 and I've managed to flash a stock ROM with lollipop but wifi won't work. So my main concern was updating the firmware so that I can flash CM12. This would enable me to do so?
thanks again.
Restore a stock ROM, you can't use lollipop. Wifi won't work because you have hboot 3.16.0000
You only can restore 1.54.206.10 stock ROM and its stock recovery then do all OTAs up to lollipop then only it work for wifi and other thing.
Using a RUU will remove everything on your device including internal storage (so make backup) then it will update everything including firmware to lollipop. So it is faster compare the nandroid backup method. You have less OTA to do.
Got to rest now .. already in bed .. its 4 AM here .. I'll check your progress tomorrow .. good luck

When you asked for RUU I expect you know all the requirements to run RUU ...
Your problem is related to PC/USB to device connection problem ...
You need to relock bootloader before you run RUU because your device is S-On
(I believe you did that as stated on post #1)
and you need a Windows PC with USB2.0 and latest HTC USB driver installed.
If you're not sure about HTC USB driver - download HTC Sync Manager - http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
install then after uninstall HTC Sync Manager but leave the HTC USB driver

Edited: That did the trick RUU worked flawlessly and all is fine now, as a token of my gratitude I donated some money. It's not much, about what I can afford right now, but I felt like it since I#ve been struggling with this problem for so long now.
So thank you very much for the quick responses and the patience. Have a nice year!

You need htc_fastboot.exe to install the RUU zip.
Follow the steps as explained here but using your own RUU zip (skip that no.1) -

Or if you prefer the exe method .. you can follow this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67314040&postcount=1749

Thank a lot bro please help me out of a new problem, ur method worked completely fine . I successfully switched from custom to stock rom and then installed the updates available. Now i wanted to root so
I unlocked bootloader using htc dev
Started the phone and all the apps optimized which took around30-40 mins
Now i shifted to bootloader installed twrp then installed supersu which i had already put in extsd
Phone didnt started for an hour stuck on htc screen
Used adb reboot bootloader and repeated everything all again right from fastboot oem lock doing ruu and all still it is same
It works all very fine before installing supersu after that all chaos dont know what to do
Hello
Since i flashed the gpe ruu, i cant get back to sense.
I tried almost everything. I tried 3 different ruu.exe's, 2 different ruu.zip's and dozens of firmwares. (old and new ones, international and devEd's)
My Bootloader is unlocked, i have s-off and supercid.
(I tried everything with a relocked bootloader, too!)
I followed this guide right here. (And a good hand full of other guides, here on xda)
Currently i have cm13 installed (without gapps!! -.- because /system is too small), but i really want sense back tho
I downloaded 3 different sense based custom roms and tried them all. But twrp is unable to flash them, due to the changed /system partition size. (i tried twrp 2.8.7.0 AND 3.0.0-1)
For those of you who are able to speak or read german, I have a different thread in a german forum.
I appreciate any help!
Thanks

Known TWRP bug, usually happens due to an older version TWRP being used at some point in the past.
Once you flash a firmware successfully, that firmware's version number will be properly shown as main version again.
Hm.
i still cant flash the ruu.
ruu.exe is still giving me errors and the .zip in hboot still says, that the /system partition is too small.
(i also tried the original mid [t-mobile])
solution:
ruu.exe & ruu zip wont work for me.
i tried flashing the firmware & latest twrp and then restoring 6.12.401.4-twrp backup.
and..
it actually worked.
(sorry for double post. i didnt mean to :s)

As I said earlier.. flash firmware.zip first to change partition size then only you can install RUU.
Restoring a backup after firmware.zip is as same as install RUU after firmware.zip is flashed.
And to install RUU zip, you need to use htc_fastboot.exe
Htc one m8

What is the problem? Is it not booting into the ROM?
when there was boot.the phone at the startup gave (unfortunately------- has stopped)error and also no back key home key visible.
wiped the device. it was all same.
tried RUU it was the same
unlocked the boot loader
and flashed
stock recovery
twrp recovery
then tried nandroid backup restore
the restore was succefull but the phone wont reach startup (tried 1Hour max)
one peculiar thing i notice.earlier when it was booting to startup i was unable to copy anything to internal or external memory as it would say device not ready or disconnected.but i was able to browse the folders.
My opinion partition problem.Need others help to sort out
Note all the files i have mentioned is checked with md5

Tried Stock rom:
RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_4.16.154 0.8_Radio_1.24.21331147A1.09G_20.68.4196.01_F_rele ase_411207_signed.exe
RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_4.16.401.10_Ra dio_1.25.214500021.06G_20.68.4196t.01_F_release_41 7003_signed.exe
RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.154 0.4.exe
None of these will ever work on your device, in the s-on configuration. The RUUs containing "BrightstarUS" are for the US Developer's Edition. They won't run on your phone, as they will fail CID and MID checks (your device has CID and MID - can't change these with s-on).
The one labeled "Europe" is for an older version (Lollipop) than what is installed on the phone (Marshmallow). This will fail version check. By definition, you can't "downgrade" by RUU with s-on
with bootloader locked/unlocked state;
with s-on:
Failed
with s-on, its absolutely mandatory to have a locked or relocked bootloader to flash RUU. Unlocked bootloader will make it fail
Tried zip

Failed
This is the correct RUU for your version, and should run with s-on. Saying it "Failed" with no other info, is not enough. Were their any error messages, other outputs, etc.? What commands did you use to run it? Were you in fastbootRUU mode?
I would suggest trying to run this again, with the bootloader RELOCKED, and you also need to use htc_fastboot, as the "generic" fastboot will not work with RUU.

I can't tell what you are referring too, as the statement is really vague. Can you give more details?

Its best if you posted the solution, and what the mistake was. Useful for those helping (to see whether we sent you on the right path), as well as anyone else reading which may have the same or similar issue.
No mistake is that silly when it comes to these devices. Its often just specific knowledge that was missing, or a detail you didn't catch before (which is an honest mistake, either way).
