It's very noticeable with relay reddit app with oled mode. While sliding down the hamburger menu, I can see a blue layer following the menu border. Is it normal? Also very well noticeable during status bar drop down with black wallpaper.

That's the inherent problem with a number of oled displays, since while displaying the pure black regions the individual pixels shutdown there is a noticeable lag when the dormant pixels are made to turn themselves on by quickly switching them to a closely matched color of the spectrum.
Increase brightness to max and this "issue" shouldn't be visible anymore

Yup. Notice it in YouTube videos. A line all the way across where the soft keys end and sometimes you can see the outline of the home button.

What colour home button have you used the most? Blue by chance?
White.
However I understand blue pixels die/burn easily.

It's not technically burn in. Think of it as reverse led fatigue The leds that make up the navbar are burning brighter due to less time on them and where you can see the button images is where the leds have been used. On the first gen galaxy's some would make entire screen white and put it at full brightness and let it sit on overnight.
good day.
We've posted this many times, yes the screen gets burn in. That's why I hide the top and bottom bar each day to use those pixels frequently. I also reduced the height of the buttons. My burn in is basically gone.
I know the screen burns in. This thread isn't about a new discovery. This thread is about what I should do about it. I disabled the soft keys and am using LMT Launcher now.
I'd like to use the normal keys, but want them to hide. Like how the task bar in windows will hide. Any apps you may know of that do said feature?

SAme problem here... I have some icons ''burned in'', im trying a 10 hours white screen youtube video now, maybe it will work.... You guys have other ideas?
I can recommend using Display Tester by gombosdev Its free and supports ics fullscreen option in settings. Use the dead pixel test to display a single color. I got burnin for red only for the pixels that have not been 'exercised' top and bottom.
I was expecting burnin eventually but not that the 'black' pixels would burn in and certainly not that the red color would be affected and not the blue.
I started seeing this after only a few weeks

Sounds more like a result of dead pixel.
Cause of the nature AMOLED's working, a dead pixel causing an entire line of pixeld distorting and then dead after some time.
P.S. Oh sorry, its not, readed it wrong
Yeah I hide the bars once a day. Also I make my button color green, and signal and click etc green since that is the most robust color, and also green text looks sharper since there are twice as many green pixels as blue and red. So it looks good too.
How bad it is, when I have a lot of blue on screen? How long it can last ? And is damage permanent? Stock JB has quite a lot of blue pixels and I would also like to use some themes like http://droidviews.com/2012/iphone-4s-ios-theme-for-miui-v4-update/
Does any ROM have the ability to set white notification and soft-key areas? I'm very keen to try and even out my reverse burn-in problem.

For notifications and the soft key bar, I believe you would have to use a theme. The only rom I know that has nav bar coloring abilities built-in is Codename Android.
I'm looking into purchasing the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, but one of my big uses is for reading on the Kindle app. Currently, on my LCD device I read with a black background and white text to reduce the light emitted as I do a lot of reading before bed, but it still is a lot of light which can keep my wife awake. Does the Galaxy Tab S actually turn off the pixels producing black, or is just very, very dark? I know AMOLED is supposed to turn them off, but I've heard conflicting reports that some devices do and some don't. Would someone be able to load up the Kindle app and set it to black with white text and let me know if it actually shuts off the pixels so it wouldn't be as bright in a dark room?
Thanks!
The Kindle app set to black background truly gives a black background, if set to use system brightness you can also get a very dim white for the text. If looking at something like the dark theme in Tapatalk you don't get black, the background is a dark grey. A bonus of running the kindle app like this is that battery life should be extended, compared to using a white background.

I could say that this is true black. Comoared to my old 7.7 which gives a slight glow when displaying pure black. This one seems like the screen is off

Same here. What he said. Your wife will be happy.
Has anyone figured out how to adjust the screen tone to make the screen appear less of a cool or bluish tone? Coming from another more color accurate LCD device, the blue tone instead of white bugs me.

Care to elaborate further? I just tried the different options listed under the Vision menu, none of them had any impact on the blue tinting.

Accessibility > Vision > Screen Color Adjustment
Tap it and it will show a picture of jelly beans or M&Ms or something. Think of it as a grid. Center is the neutral zone.
However this will NOT change the color the white balance, only the gamma of the colors.
My LG G Tab X8.3 has a high red HUE. Comparing the G4s blueish tone against the X8.3s redish tone, is horrible. I prefer the softer bluer tones. There is an app in the Play Store to actually adjust the colors, but it is basically just an overlay. It caused me lots of lag, delay, missed touches, etc.
A custom kernel is the only way to properly adjust the LCD colors on a low level, without an app.
Actually My G4 H811 has Screen Mode hidden in settings but it does not make any effect. I wish it works on other models or at least on the rooted H815. To enable hidden feature, Need to create a Widget with Nova launcher a choose Activities. Then scroll and expand Settings and look for Screen Mode.
Gotcha thanks. I'm debating on trying this phone again, my S3 died and honestly I've had way too many uniformity and inconsistencies with AMOLED displays, so I want to stick with an IPS display. I've been using my old iP5s and I can't stand it, I need to get something ASAP. Just wish I could bring the white balance back to a neutral white, then maybe I'd be more content with the phone.
That... and better gaming performance.

Mine goes really green (greys) at low brightness.
@mattabyte can you please check this too? Check it in a very dark room/night at low brightness (not the lowest). And please report here.

one plus providing fix for this on next ota plus ram fix tooo so wait
Yes, I get this. I also get purple trails.
This can't be fixed, I don't think, unless they raise the lowest brightness. From my searching it looks like an issue with quite a few older AMOLED phones.
Well, greys would become pink on my Nexus 6P as well. But for it it turned green which looked really weird. I sent in for a replacement.
I have a slight purple tint to some grays on low brightness, yes.
I also have blue/purple trails when dragging black items over a dark background on the screen, visible on all brightnesses but much more so on low.
Yellowish screen
I also have a little issue with my screen. My screen gets yellowish on the left when the background is grey, this don't happens when another color is shown...
Is this a software issue and can it be fixed or do I need to return the phone?
youtube.com/watch?v=8IlHPtAXWGE
I made a video showing this issue.... That clearly appears on grey backgrounds.
Do you guys think that the upcoming update could also fix this issue ?
I also have yellowish tint on the right side of my screen

Yes, display uniformity problems are unfortunately very common on the OP3, as also a thread in Oneplus' own forum shows (with a poll). You have to return the device for a replacement as often as you need to finally have a device with even screen.
I know this isn't really light bleed, given its an AMOLED screen... But when on the home screen with a black image, there is what looks like light bleed across the top of the screen. This only happens on the home screen. Any ideas?
I have the same effect up top... It's like the notification area is glowing a bit so you know it's there.

If you took a screenshot of your phone's screen and the effect is there, it means it's not your hardware. Screenshots don't actually capture what you see through the panel. Just like you can't see burn in with a screenshot you can't see light bleed or any kind of panel deformation as well.

Yes, I understand it's not hardware... But it's an issue none the less...
You can see it in the top of the image I attached in my original post. It is only persent on the home screen, and it's really annoying. It's extremely obvious with a black wallpaper.
Yeah it's that particular wallpaper of Pluto or Earth. I get the same thing. In fact, try sliding over to the left where Google news feed is and put it in between screens. You can see it sliding to the top. It's even more pronounced when you switch the display theme to daylight instead of automatic.
In other words, Google has to fix their wallpapers. Nothing to see here. It's not light bleed and I would change the title of this thread to make it less confusing.

It is not just the Google wallpapers... It is literally any wallpaper that's dark enough.
Then it's the Google launcher. The point is there is nothing wrong with the display.

I'm well aware is not my hardware. Read my original post, I clearly said I know it's not the display. Light bleed is not possible on an AMOLED screen... And also not selective to the home screen only.
Just because it's software doesn't mean it's not an issue..
It's not a bug, it's here to prevent Burn-in. It's also visible on the bottom. I saw it with a grey wallpaper, I didn't see the line of the nav bar but on the home screen I did. Like I said, it's here to prevent Burn-in.

This is correct. It is there for a reason from Google.
