I carry my Pixel XL in my left pants pocket with baggy jeans and I've been noticing when I lay my pixel on a flat surface that it's twisted a bit. If I push on a corner it will rock back and forth corner to corner. If I give it a slight tweak with my hands it will go back to normal. I thought maybe it was just my case moving around a bit but I popped the phone out of the case and it does it without the case too. I confirmed with one other person that theirs is doing the same thing. I never had this issue with my 6P. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed this.

hmmm, that isn't good. I would contact google. Surprising considering how well it held up in the jerryrigeverything test.
Are you sure the surface is level and flat?

I've tried it on multiple surfaces with and without the case. At first I thought it was the case sliding around (ringke fusion) but it did it without the case. Also another person I know is seeing the same thing and runs their phone naked.

Well considering the pixel is thicker at the top than front. The slightest displacement in a surface will make it rock

Right but when I give it a tweak with my hands very lightly it will then lay flat. I've tried it on at least 10 different surfaces too. I think a few of them would have been flat at least.

I do t see how you could possibly twist the phone. It seemed very durable in all the test
I saw one pixel that sold on swappa with damaged corners from it being dropped. When I looked at the pictures, I asked the OP if it was twisted or an illusion, obviously no reply.. But it was severely twisted.
Mine is so extremely subtile that it's hard to see but I can look across the screen from one end to the other and see that there's a slight twist.

I'm glad it's not just me then. I was going to try and get a video of mine soon too, but thanks for posting a video of yours. What I see with yours is exactly what mine is doing. If i give it a little gentle tweak it's right back to normal.

So, I'm looking at getting the Optimus G, but have a few reservations, the biggest of which is the glass panel on the back. I'm wondering from you guys about real-world usage is this something I should be worried about. I don't like cases because they add too much bulk and I'm normal in that drops my phone on the concrete from time to time. Also, I've got young kids which, unfortunately, can lead to some extra drops. Should I be worried about the glass on the back cracking? Any advise would be much appreciated!
A few other reservations are related to the non-upgradable storage and non-removable battery, but I think I'm okay with those.
I have had this phone since it was released and I hardly ever have my bumper case on it and I've dropped it and have never had an issue. I don't know what it is with this phone but it seems indestructible.
I'm not one to drop my phone so I can't personally say anything about the durability of the phone after a drop. But I do know its a mixed bag. And judging from what you said, you drop your phone quite frequently. In which case, I can't recommend this phone for you. This isn't like other phones where if you crack the screen you can still use it. It becomes unresponsive. So my opinion, this phone is a no go for you.

Other people would beg to differ I'm sure.
Most of the time I use a pretty cheap rubber case by Diztronic. I've dropped it a few times from a few feet up onto concrete in this case, and it's been totally fine. That said, I don't know how it would fare without the case. You really should have a case for any phone you get, though. Particularly if it's glass. But there's nothing about this phone that makes it more fragile than the other glass guy.
Thanks!
Thanks for the information! I wouldn't say I'm a frequent dropper, but I do keep my phones for 2 years for the upgrade and in that time there are a number of drops. Thanks again!
I have an otter box on my phone. The other day I was running on my treadmill and using my phone to listen to some tunes when it fell out of my pocket on to the treadmill and hit a wall. Its still in perfect condition.

@egren58 They've got a new version shipping Nov 7th. It is wider 1~1.5mm than the older one. Contact them through Amazon and let them know it's not satisfied and they will offer a refund or the newer wider version. They're correcting it and looks like they've got good customer support.

Yeah...that's unacceptable. For crying out loud, the Pixel screen is not curved that much, if at all. I'm looking at my Pixel XL right now and I don't see any roundness at all. This screen looks flat to me. But all these screen protector companies are saying"because the Pixels screen is curved, we can't make a wider screen protector." I call shenanigans.

The company YooTech which is probably the same as Pleason, is sending their version 2 protector to me. They said that it is slightly wider. When I get it, I'll try to remember to post pics.
When I remove the protector that I have applied now, I'm going to lay a straight edge across the screen because I can't see any slight curve. This screen looks to be flat as a pancake. [emoji1]

When you do lay it across long ways at the bottom or top so you get 3 of the edges
There is a slight curvature but it's still a good amount of distance from the edge of the display. You can see the curve when you hold the device in an angle and put it in direct light the reflection will show the angle. But there is still space to go wider.
I have a dial indicator at my work. I'll use it to see exactly how much of a curve we are dealing with. Not that it matters, I just want to see.

It's very minimal. The o e plus 3 had more and they managed to get some decent tempered covered the display and a bit more
I've had one of these ordered about 3 weeks ago from Pleson through Amazon. Said they shipped it 10/18, but they 'forgot' to provide a tracking number and can't find one now, but are sure it shipped. They were good about offering a refund, though. Of course, the original picture they were marketing it with - showing it with the Pixel XL - also showed the camera & speaker areas as cutouts, not whole sections cut to the edge, which was one reason I ordered theirs vs all the rest that look essentially identical.
I'm waiting on Intelliarmor's PRO glass - it's the only one that went essentially full edge-to-edge (less about 0.5mm) on my Nexus 6, which had similarly rounded edges.
Anyone know if the screen is slightly curved like the Pixel 2XL, or flat like the OG Pixel XP? Hoping it's flat for cheaper glass screen protector sake!

Yes Verizon and bestbuy have them on display and will be in Verizon stores on Friday October 19th. Just went to the local Verizon store on my lunch break to check the 3XL out. Its nice....didn't notice the reduced curve or even compare it to my P2XL. I was mainly focused on the notch size...haptic feedback...and screen color shifting. Also the overall outter dimensions compared to the P2XL.
@bsg411 I just stopped at Verizon. The notch doesn't bother me. I ordered the 2 XL from Google already but the smaller 3 feels great too

Same. I looked at the screens on both new pixels. Both look really good.
I can also confirm that after playing with a 2XL and 3XL side by side at the Verizon store, the screen on the 3XL is much flatter and starts to curve much closer to the edge of the phone. It is almost identical to the screen edge on my OnePlus 6. And this is great news because tempered glass protectors for the OnePlus 6 have full adhesive across the entire screen, while almost all of the glass protectors for the 2XL only adhere around the sides, which creates a halo effect in the middle of the screen and allows dust to work its way in, over time.
I'm very hopeful that the flatter screen on the 3 XL will mean screen protectors have that full adhesion like the OnePlus 6 protectors. I'll find out shortly as I already ordered 2 different tempered glass protectors for my 3XL, which should be here sometime next week.
Ok so XL screen a lot flatter than OP5 so tempered glass protectors should be good.
Also it seems like the screen is from Samsung. A pixel guy here told me that since HTC made the phone and since they work with Samsung, they may have used Samsung screens (therefore why the best screen on the market).

Hi All,
Posting here on advice of a kind reddit pixel community user.
I work from rope, repelling down buildings in NYC. Typically, everything I carry is leashed to my person in some-way, but I have yet to find a case for the pixel that lets me do this easily or reliably. Following a mishap at 25 stories up recently, my trusty pixel found its way out of my zippered pocket and discovered that it could not fly after-all. I need my phone to perform my work, and having a jerry rigged system just doesn't provide me with the confidence I'd like. I'm hoping the wealth of pixel knowledge in here might be able to offer some case suggestions that have well built attachment locations for a carabiner or knotted cordelette.
Otherwise if anyone has any out-of-the-box ideas. I'm all ears.
Thanks everyone!
I think something like that may be good for you

I use the SPECK Presidio Grip case. I dropped it a couple of times, some of the drops were really bad but the phone survived all of them without any damages whatsoever.

Dropped my phone any times with the UAG case and not a scratch on the case or the phone.

Nothing will survive a 25 story drop. Sorry. Maybe neck strap like those waterproof universal phone pouches?
Even the Rhinoshield bumper case works phenomenally well. I've dropped my phone countless times with just the bumper case and have never had an issue.
