SM-P607T Charging Issue - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) SM-P607T tablet. It has not been activated on the T-Mobile network, just used as a WiFi device. Stock Android version 5.1.1. Never been rooted
About a month ago, it stopped charging. It's a couple years old now, and I purchased it factory refurbished (a couple years ago), so I assumed it was the battery. Took it in and they replaced the battery (which was a fiasco in it's own right, but I won't go into that here). But, that did not fix the issue. If I've got the tablet on, it will show that it is charging for about 30 seconds, then the battery shows not charging (either no indicator on the battery or a red "x"). If the tablet is OFF, it seems to be charging just fine.
What I've done:
--Replaced the charging port ribbon--the USB connector was actually broke in one corner, so I thought that was the issue.
--Reset the battery-- a couple of times
--Factory Reset the tablet--a couple of times
--Called Samsung Technical Support. They think it's a software issue, and had me call T-Mobile (since it's a T-Mobile tablet)
--Called T-Mobile. The guy walked me through the power/volume down reboot thing. I get the "Custom ROM install" thing. (Sorry, don't have the exact wording in front of me...) The "this may have been rooted" thing. Which *I* have not done. T-Mobile can't help me anymore.
--Did some more searching and got information to download KEIS. Downloaded it to my Windows 10 laptop, followed the instructions, plug tablet into the USB port and....
-- Get the "the USB device malfunctioned, Windows doesn't recognize" blather. Researched THAT, updated USB drivers on my computer and STILL get the same notice. Powered the computer down, unplugged it, took the battery out, put battery in, plugged it back in, powered up and, still...no go. Still doesn't recognize it.
So, now what? Is there a way "unroot" a tablet without hooking the tablet up to a computer, ie, via MicroSD? I suspect that if I could get it back to an "unrooted" state, I might be able to get T-Mobile's help proper. Any other suggestions as to what to do to get this silly thing running properly again?

Have you gone into the device manager on your computer and told it where to manually locate the drivers?

I think so.
Anyway, I had ordered a replacement tablet and it came yesterday and it has the option to be activated on Verizon, should I so choose, so I am going to get rid of this tablet and not worry anymore about it.

Mine does the exact same thing.
I think the actual problem is that the tablet and charger need to be able to "talk" to each other, and if the USB port is fubar'ed, they can't talk.
This tablet has some VERY strict charging requirements; every thread I've been able to dig up all but DEMANDS you use the charger that came with the tablet. The battery is SO F-ING HUGE that most chargers just can't keep up. (Look around at the battery mAH ratings on any other tablet; they're usually in the 5000-6000 range; the P607T is nearly 9000.)
(you mention that you bought another tablet; I'm posting this so that others might keep up...)

I had this problem even after changing out the USB port, unfortunately. (Actually, it wouldn't charge at all with the broken USB port, but would with the new one...just only when off.)
This tablet has some VERY strict charging requirements; every thread I've been able to dig up all but DEMANDS you use the charger that came with the tablet. I had it work just fine for nearly 2 years using a Samsung charging cord and appropriate plugs...they have to be 5 Volt plugs, not 2.x Volt plugs. Not-Samsung charging cords were a hit or miss...with all of our devices...so it was just easier to buy Samsung cords.
Oh, and I replaced it with another 2014 Note, just a Verizon one instead of a T-Mobile. (Not that THAT matters too much as I don't currently have it activated...and will probably activate it on ...gasp... Tracfone!

[Q] GNex will not charge / USB Host not recognised

Hey all
Wonder if anyone can shed any light on what I think is a unique problem - in that I can't find anyone with the exact same issue.
Last weekend I took the SIM card from my GN to place in another phone I was trying out. The GN was powered back on and being used on WIFI as I was doing comparisons, shooting some video of the new phone with it etc.
Popped the GN in a drawer without thinking and left if powered on
(see if you can guess where this is going)
Messed around with the other phone for about 4 days, got my GN out of the drawer and went to put the SIM back in my GN.
1. GN would not turn on initially at all. No recovery, nothing. (solved)
Read some posts on XDA and elsewhere, people with similar issues mentioning a long (5min+) battery pull would wake her up. Dutifully I obliged and the phone did indeed wake up. However, battery was totally dead and phone shut back down.
2. GN will not accept charge from a wall charger when phone is on.
Whilst the phone seems to take a 'trickle' charge whilst powered off (battery charge animation is on), this is exceptionally slow. Took all night to get to about 50% charged to allow me to boot up and have a look around. Whilst the phone is powered on, it will not recharge. tried all sorts of official and other USB and mains cables.
3. When connected to a PC via USB, will accept charge, but error message notes that USB Device not reconised, troubleshoot? etc...
Phone won't mount. Status says it is charging over AC.
So what's up? I assume the battery died big time over the 4 days i left it. A have a new official battery in the post to resolve but... didn't anticipate the issues with USB connection etc. Worried the phone might be partially bricked/borked/knackered.
Phone is GSM 16Gb currently on 4.0.2 and totally stock. So no tinkering to date has caused this. Only event that proceeded the issue was the full battery drain.
Any hints / tips / info / moral support gladly accepted.
Really sounds like you're phone was already borked, just waiting for the right time to tell you. You might've hurt it's feelings.

Sounds like it's emotionally scarred from being abandoned for another phone and left in a cold dark danky drawer for half a week.
Have you tried reinstalling the USB drivers?
Also could try factory reset as well as try unlocking it and relocking. Worst case, send it in repair, just tell them it's heartbroken.
Heartbroken, I like it... Worse still I was testing out a Windows Phone. What a phone philanderer I am.
The drawer was nice and dry though I assure you.

Assuming you're on a windows since you called it a PC..
Try and see if windows can install it for you.
Go to Start > Run > Enter "device installation" in the search > select "Change device installation settings" > Select "Install driver software from windows update if it's not found on my device"

It's a hardware issue, but is fixable if you want to change the USB port yourself

Then post you link to seems to be about 'phantom' charging when no cable is connected. This is the opposite in a way - it won't charge when turned on at all.
New battery arrived today. No change. Device still trickle charges when powered off, but doesn't charge on mains power, and still will not recognise when plugged into an XP or Linux machine.
Gonna try a factory reset and will update.
Let me know of any ideas and or people with the same issue. I'm still of the opinion I haven't seen a thread with this same issue. Would be happy to be corrected.

If you read the thread, many have had this exact problem, including myself. For me the phantom charging happened a while after it refused to charge.

I just tried what can only be described as the 'toothpick trick' : pushing down the connector nub inside the USB port on the phone et voila, now acting as normal.
I can only describe that as a really ****ty example of workmanship from Samsung.
And it would be after I reset the device as well.
Do you think this one's a definite hardware issue / defect? Seems a crazy thing to happen.

Lol, I was the one figuring out the toothpick trick I ordered the phone from clove.co.uk the first week it was released, and had this issue haunt me after a few weeks. As I'm in norway, I was not looking forward to sending it in, so tried to fix it myself. I tried "everything", including short circiut some pins in the plug on purpose, but what finally fixed it for me was to buy a OEM USB Charging board on ebay and replace it myself.
I know, really ****ty QA at Samsung.
Not looking forward to sitting and waiting to see if this is a recurring issue.
How much of a job is replacing the board on the phone?

Not that hard. The phone is easy to pick apart, and you can just "plug" in the new card with two simple connectors.
Turns out it is a recurring issue.
Is this the sort of thing that would be classed as due a replacement phone?

I am having a very similar issue that I believe is hardware. Sometimes charges, sometimes won't. BUT it will not be recognized through USB on my PC so I can not flash stock images unroot and lock the bootloader back up. Where you completely stock and unrooted before you sent it in to samsung? I have to find some way to get it back to stock so I can get get this fixed...

Yes, I know there are many topics on this, but mine is a little different, and this appears to be the most current thread.
I have a galaxy nexus that I got from Google IO last summer. It has worked great until last week. It stopped taking a charge. When I would plug it in with the same plug I have used for months, it would show the lightning bolt, but not charge. I tried the toothpick thing but no luck and ended up breaking the usb port. So, I bought a replacment usb board off ebay and installed that. Now, when I plug the phone in, still no charge, but my computer does recognize the phone.
Then after the 4.2.2 update, I no longer see the lighting bolt, but it still does not charge. I have been charging the battery at night. I cut off the end of a usb cable and use electrical tape to tape the two stripped wires to the battery. But that only provides an 80% charge and doesnt last the whole day.
1) Not a usb port issue, but might be a motherboard issue?
2) Not a toothpick fix
3) Maybe a software issue?
4) Maybe time to buy the Nexus 4?

charging/usb port problem - can't un-root

I've seen this problem mentioned before, but no good fixes.
My phone won't charge while on, but will when off. Charging has always been a little buggy, but now seems stuck this way.
The problem seems to keep my phone from connecting to the computer - neither the mac android download program will recognize the phone, nor will it charge off the computer, nor will the wugfresh tool see it when plugged into my PC.
I rooted/unlocked using the wugfresh tool (kept the stock ROM) and figure I need to warranty replace the phone - but because the computer won't recognize it, I don't know how to un-root/re-lock it.
Question - 1. anybody know how to fix my usb charging/recognition problem? 2. assuming not, is there a way to un-root/re-lock the phone without needing to plug the phone into a computer?

Does it charge with the phone on from AC? And when it's plugged up to your mac, does it have the thing in the notification bar saying its connected?
It's possible you have a bad cable, just to eliminate the easy fix first. It should charge fine with any mini USB charger.
If you can get it to charge from AC, I'd try a different computer if possible or if not maybe a re-install of the drivers.
Next, as maybe a last ditch effort, it's possible the ROM got corrupted, though I'm not sure how likely that would be. I'm sure you can get the stock ROM to flash in Clockworkmod but the only way to re-lock the bootloader that I know of requires a PC.
Maybe someone else can chime in weather or not Samsung actually cares if you're unlocked when it comes to a warranty for a hardware problem. Also, what carrier do you have? They may just give you a new phone themselves and again, maybe someone can tell you if they actually look at whether you've modded your phone.

Yes, when it's hooked up to an AC adapter and the phone is ON, I get no charging. When the phone is on and hooked up to a computer (both PC and mac), I get no charging. No upper right hand corner battery indicator change.
In fact, when the phone is off and hooked up to AC power, it seems to be hit-and-miss as to whether or not it actually charges.
Plugged into a computer, I get nothing - it doesn't register a device is attached at all.
I think that's a great question - if you return an un-locked phone, do they definitely get mad at you? I wonder if that's been asked in the forums before...maybe I'll make a different thread?
Also, from clockworkmod, how can I flash the original rom, as you suggested?
I've already factory re-set the phone and even flashed a different ROM just to see what would happen - and it didn't fix the charging issue.

I literally had this exact issue over the weekend where it would charge when powered off but then the USB would completely die when the phone was turned on. All after using my incar charger. It seems the port inside the phone got bent so that the board inside was almost touching the bottom of the phone. If held flat on your palm...
I fixed it by bending the board back up with a knife so its dead in the middle of the port. No problems charging now.
this exact problem has been an issue for me as well, contacted Samsung and told them i bought it second hand and they issued a rma and sent me a ups label t send it in. This is my first phone that broke before I even had a chance to root it. I was pissed at Htc so decided to try something new. Going back to my T-Bolt for a while now.
My phone charges sometimes, others it doesnt. Sometimes the "Nintendo blow" works, other times it requires force. Eventually I can always get it to charge, but it can take a half hour of playing with it. I have multiple cables, original Samsung batteries, and lots of experience inside phones, and have never had an issue that I couldnt FULLY determine was hardware or software. Samsung claims they have never seen this issue. lol. Obviously they dont visit the forums

great idea - i was using my car charger this weekend. i'll give it a shot.
update - i bent the little board up off the bottom, and now i can't fit the charger in it. uhoh.

I sent my galaxy to Samsung 2 weeks ago, it is due to arrive back today. They paid postage each way and the invoice says they replaced a component (no detail) and updated software and prl. I was already on the current release so not sure what to expect. But it is good to know they are taking care of us.

Hi, I have a 7 months old galaxy nexus (international) which has just turned into a paper weight. I was wondering if anyone here any help.
1) Charging problem:
The problem started when, all of a sudden, the phone restarted while being connected to a computer. I smelled burning and the microUSB connector was burning hot when unplugged. The phone still worked at the time but I couldnt charge the battery. After going through 3 different cables with the same problem, I then discovered online that this has been a common issue with the phone and the only fix seemed to be to replace the microUSB port.
I noticed that the battery might have gone dead also since I was not able to charge it. I went to a T-mobile store and tried on a new battery but the phone wouldn't start!
2) Replace USB:
I bought a new microUSB port connected to a mini circuit board (identical to what's in the phone) and replaced it myself. The only thing I might have missed was that this particular (Samsung galaxy nexus instead of verizon) version has the volume rocker connector soldered onto the motherboard and I had to sort of yank it out. Well, I thought, so I'll be without volume adjustments, so what? And since the connector was still in place, I might still have electrical connection after replacing the motherboard.
Tested another time at the T-mobile store, still nothing.
3) Dead phone:
I followed the online instructions and attempted all kinds of sequences involving charging without battery, waiting for 10 seconds, pressing volume buttons while powering on ... you name it. Still nothing.
Going through Samsung wasnt helpful since I dont have a receipt (the phone is 7 months ago based on its serial number) since I bought it second-hand.
Any idea will be greatly appreciated!!!

The samsung GNex seems to have some unique quirkiness. When I plugged it in now, the screen, for ~10-15 seconds, will show the battery being charged, before going blank again. And this shows up only sporadically. Another quirk is that if I remove the battery and connect that directly to a PC, the computer will make a sound, indicating the connection, then quickly makes another sound indicating disconnection, before making the sound of connection again and it just cycles continuously until I unplug it. During the entire time, the phone never appeared on the computer screen. If I have the battery in, then the PC wouldn't even make a sound.
I also tried adding some slow-curing conductive epoxy at the solder joints that I had to detach when replacing the microUSB circuit board and that didn't do a thing.

Changing the microUSB port isn't hard at all. There's a good guide over on ifixit.com
Also, the screen turning on for 10-15 seconds is normal for when the phone is off and charging.

Thanks for your reply. I too got information from ifixit.com and replaced the microUSB port successfully (with the exception on the tiny circuit board connected to the volume toggle, which was soldered onto the motherboard and I had to detach it). But the problem is that the phone remained dead afterwards. The only other reason I can think of is that my repeated attempts to charge it while the microUSB port was burnt might have burned something else on the motherboard maybe?

OMAP flash didn't work?
Just tried using the famous OMAP flash method. I first plugged in the phone, without battery, to a computer. As discussed before, the PC would beep intermittently, indicating a device is connected, disconnected, then connected .... Device manager was flipping constantly as well, as if I am plugging the device in and out. I had to act really fast and double click on the device (during that split second when it's showing that the device is connected) named OMAP 4460. Once the separate window is open, I then click "change driver" and point to the downloaded file.
While I managed to get that part completed, I was unable to proceed from that point. Nothing else seems to have changed. What doesnt make sense is me still is how that should even matter since the problem started with a hardware failure, and why a software change would make any difference.
Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Fast Charging No Longer Working

I wanted to share this in case anyone ever experiences the same problem. I had my Note 4 since it was released in October and didn't have any issues until roughly a week ago. All of a sudden, the phone would not fast charge. Whenever connected to the fast charging adapter, it would detect it and charge, but it would not give the fast charge notification and would charge extremely slowly (8 hours to get a full charge from near empty). In addition, my PCs would no longer be able to access it and the phone would not give the MTP option menu when connected. I tried multiple cables, outlets, fast chargers, and batteries in addition to toggling the fast charge setting, wiping the cache, and performing a factory reset - but nothing helped. I finally called verizon and they sent me a new note 4 and everything was working again.....
Three days passed and the same exact issue occurred again on the replacement phone. This makes me believe that the Samsung charger I have has somehow deteriorated and is now breaking the usb connectivity on the phone. I contacted samsung and am getting a replacement for the charger and will have to get ANOTHER replacement phone from verizon (after they finish processing my first replacement).
So if anyone has a similar issue, I would suggest getting a new charger in addition to the phone replacement so you don't have to go through the entire process again. I could be wrong that the charger caused this, but I can't think of anything else besides the recent lollipop upgrade - but everything was working for several days on lollipop for both phones.
If anyone has ideas on how to fix this, please let me know. I can't return the second phone until the first one is processed so no fast charging or PC connection until then. Thanks

Same Issues and I have three fast chargers so it is not the charger it is the phone or the 5.0 update.
Mine was not really even charging unless I turned the phone off. I called Verizon and they are sending me a replacement phone overnight. It would not connect to the computer either. I hope this is not a result of fast charging, if so they are gonna get a lot of phone calls
I also have another fast charger which wasn't working... I was thinking that my main charger was breaking the phones USB connectivity and fast charging, but if others are having the same problem then I am wondering if it is something related to the lollipop update. I am replacing the main charger and should have another replacement note 4 come Friday. If it happens again, then I think it points to the lollipop update since both phones had this issues days after lollipop was installed.
I'll let you guys know the outcome
Had the same issue. Used a different wire. Solved the problem. Any Micro USB that can transfer data, can use fast charge. If it's a "power only" cable, or if the data pins/wires are messed up, no fast charge.

Well the problem was that all the cables were working and then stopped. When I got the replacement phone they worked and then a few days later the same thing happened again. So something was causing the connection to break completely. I am hoping that the cause was the charger which I am replacing.
Word of advice: if it stops charging normally In ANY way. THROW AWAY THE CHARGER. I made the same mistake and my Note 4 literally lit on fire melting the lower 1/2 inch of my phone and completely melting the charger. It was so hot by the time I was able to yank the cord out both the phone and charger were melted and destroyed and I ended up with three fingers with minor burns. I am lucky it did not happen when I was sleeping with my infant nearby. I now charge my phone only in the day and on a granite counter in case of fire again.
It stopped fast charging. Then I used the charger again and got a message saying "Transferring power to high powered device" then wham 2" flames
Verizon kept claiming it couldnt happen and thought I used a aftermarket charger until I brought the phone and charger to a corporate store and they prompytly replaced both the phone and charger under factory warranty.
I have three samsung original fast chargers and none of them worked plus the fact that the phone could not be connected to any computer I have makes me think it was the phone. I got the new phone today so I guess time will tell. I just can't see three chargers and cables going bad all at the same time. I also did not take the 5.0 update on the new phone.
my replacement phone stopped fast charging and computer will not recognize it now. I used a different cable that was plugged into the fast charge module from Samsung. I guess that is what caused it. They are sending another phone but for C sake if a cable is the reason this happens surely there should be a fix without replacing the phone time after time.
I finally received the new phone from Verizon and I replaced all the cables I was using to make sure this doesn't happen again. Hopefully the charger was the culprit and the problem is over and done with. Hope no one else encounters this as it really was a pain to deal with.
I got my third phone Monday and so far so good. I had a car charger from Verizon plugged into an extender that had 4 plugs in it. When I unplugged my GPS from it I noticed it was very hot. The Verizon Charger was also hot even though nothing was plugged into it. This may have been what caused my issue. It could have overheated. I replaced it with a different brand and tested to make sure it stayed cool when anything was plugged in and have used it all week without issues. The only other thing could have been the USB cable I used the evening before the second phone stopped fast charging so I do not use it either. So if you use a car charger extender check to see if it gets hot when anything is plugged in. BUT, it is scary knowing something like this can kill the USB on this phone.
I have an external Hard-drive that would constantly disconnect and reconnect with the slightest movement of the cord connected to the computer. It even caused my H/D to get corrupted twice requiring re-formatting. But all I had to do to fix it was to squeeze the big connector on the cord a little and tighten it up. Just a thought.
It's been a week since I received my third phone and everything is working perfectly. I can only assume the charger was breaking it and I'm glad the issue is behind me.
So for anyone experiencing this, I suggest contacting Samsung to replace the charger before going to your cell provider to replace the phone
I'm having the same exact problem. My 2nd replacement phone is now doing the same thing as the first one. I have too many scenarios now though and I'm confused as to which it is. I have two Adaptive chargers.. Batteries, phone, or chargers...
As soon as I replaced the charger, I didn't have this issue again. I suggest sending your chargers back to Samsung (or whatever other brand you have) because one of them is breaking the phones

I would place my bet on a bad cable. With the higher voltages that fast charge uses going through the danger of arching and sparking is increased especially if there's a poor connection would fry or weld melt metal inside the connector. This could damage the USB port in the phone and cause the phone's USB port to have a bad connection. This bad USB port in the phone could fry the other cables as well leaving you wondering why everything went bad all at once
My phone will fast charge on my two vehicle chargers (at 1.5 amps and 2.1 amps), but refuses to change any faster than 500 mA on two separate fast charger bricks. The same bricks work fine for fast charging other phones, so it's my phone, not the charging hardware. I'm using the same cable(s) for all instances, which leads me to believe that something is wrong with how the phone interprets the "smart charging" signal on the bricks, or that the phone is sending the wrong charging signal.
I can still connect to a computer just fine, so my issue may be different.
Does anyone else have the issue with bricks but not with chargers without "smart charging" capabilities?
I've had this problem on stock 5.1.1, Jasmine rom 6.0.1, and now CM13. I full wiped everything when reinstalling, so either it's hardware, or an issue propigated through many roms. I've tried a few different kernels too, just to see if that was the problem.
I'm changing the battery tomorrow to check that possibility. Maybe I'll bend the contact a slight bit and see what happens (phone catches on fire)...

I have rooted 5.1.1 stock rom, If i flash full stock rom 5.1.1 does this help or what?

Turns out one out of the three new cables I bought didn't work, and my OEM cable didn't work for fast charging. Swapping for a good cable fixed the issue.

No Power - Tab S Dead?

So I woke up this morning to find my Tab drained. I plugged it in for half an hour, then when I picked it up I noticed there was no charging indicator (the green liquid battery thing). So I thought maybe I didn't plug it in right. I reattached everything, tested the charger on another device, then plugged it back into the tab for about 2 hours...still no juice. I tried powering on and doing the reset thing. still nothing. I brought it to a Samsung service center and they said I have a faulty motherboard. Now I'm wondering how the hell that happened when I've been using this device for about 6 months (only 6 months) without any issues, no overheating or strange reboots or anything, and now just like that I have a motherboard issue? The kicker here is that they're charging 75% of the tablet price to fix it! What gives?! I purchased it from a non-samsung mall store so they said I can't claim warranty. I popped the back off and did the battery pull thing and tried to charge - still nothing. Did I buy a device that decided it was a lemon after 6 months light-moderate use?
Anyone else have this happen? It's never been dropped or anything and I was on stock firmware with nothing but root.
In the UK, If your tablet goes faulty in 12months your guarantee is with the place you bought it from, not Samsung.

It's ALIVE! I thought I'd get a 2nd opinion on my Tab since the guys at the Samsung service center popped it open anyway. Went to a generic phone repair store, all they did was hook it up to this box thing, and it came back to life! The guy said something got corrupted and just re flashed everything to stock rooted. He charged me less than $20 and I have a working Tab again. Obviously the very first thing I did with my resurrected device was to call Samsung's hotline and report how this one service center was trying to scam me into buying a motherboard that cost nearly as much as what I paid for the thing brand new.
Some li-poly battery have an protection circuit built in, if the voltage falls below a certain level say 2.5volts per cell, it disables the battery, if you connect an meter to the battery you will get 0volts , you need an li-ion charger that passes an higher voltage that resets the battery and allows it to work again, I wonder if this is what happened.

Did they connect via USB or to the motherboard?
@tinderbox could be...must have over-drained itself for some reason.
@ashyx I couldn't really see what he was doing since his work table was obstructed by a bunch of stuff and he had his back towards me, I just saw him grab this small black box, then minutes later he showed me that the tab was already powering on though couldn't get past samsung logo, then he went ahead and flashed to stock.
Reason I ask is I wonder if he used a jtag box to ressurect it by reflashing the bootloader.
If he did there must be jtag points on the board as it can't usually be done via USB.
Pity you didn't ask what he actually did as I'm intrigued now.

yeah i think so... it had similar ports, though not sure about the outer shell of it... i think it was smooth all around with no ridges or anything, just a little black rectangular box.
Sorry to revive an old topic, but i thought i'd do an update instead of start a new one. Tab S died again and I'm now convinced it's over-discharge, as I left it at about 20% and forgot to plug it in before going to bed. Woke up with the tab drained, not responding to any button combinations, not charging with any of my chargers that tested ok with other devices.
Instead of bringing it back to the technician, I thought I'd try mcguyvering the damn thing. I opened up the back, pried the battery terminals up off the board, lifted the battery out, and with a spliced USB cord hooked up to a powerbank, I gave the battery terminals a direct zap, inserting the exposed USB wires into the battery terminals. This took some trial and error as, I didn't know which wire was supposed to go where, but finally I saw the powerbank leds blink, indicating it was discharging into something. I held the wires in place for about 5-10 minutes, noticing some heat on the battery by then. I reinstalled the battery back into the tablet, closed everything up and tried charging again and...hey presto! the tab started charging. :victory: Let it charge for 2 hours and powered on like nothing happened.

Mine just dead last night while CHARGING (turned off at 13%).....
And refused to turn on till now (still charging and both warm (charger + tab)...
I even plugged an ampere meter to really know if its drawing any or not (it is, at 5.2V 1.7A for 15mins)...
And still no luck
Samsung's device become more ****ty each generations..... Esp the battery...
This one is the replacement batt they gave me after 2mos of usage for infamous Tab S battery issue...
I saw a video on youtube, a guy had a dead 10.5" T1 he took the back off and connected an 1amp microusb charger pcb to connections directly to the battery under a piece a tape, I bought a couple of the microusb charger pcb`s from ebay for 0.42p each in case mine goes dead.

Samsung tablets only have issue with battery connectors. The white connector with 6 wires has loose connection, the black connector soldered to mainboard has cracked solder joints. New battery won't solve problem if you don't fix these two flaws. Resolder the battery connector will fix most of problems: not charging, reboot, flickering, auto shutdown.

anyway no more somedung, I switched to Xiaomi Mi Mix, still preordering from China.....
You have to watch these chinies owened tablet and phone manufactues, they have been found to come with built in spyware, sending copys of all your texts ect back to china, it`s been in the news that last few day`s
Lenovo notebooks had a spyware app and Lenovo had to issue insturctions on hot to remove it once it was found.

That's OK, I can scan and remove all those spyware.
Still its better to have it properly supported with actual updates (older phone still got all UI + android update, hello MIUI 8).
Rather than using phone without proper software support....
Tab S - buggy and prolly the last MM update
Note 3 - useless LL update, very unstable, consider alpha
Note 8.0 - buggy last KK update, switched to CM13 and happy with it
