Just wondering if anyone has a z1c which they purchased from the 3 network in the UK? Is so then presumably the 4g option is available under network settings? If so can someone create an ftf of the 3 firmware? I have an unlocked phone with a 3 sim card and the 4g option is not available nor are there any software updates available via pccompanion or ota so I'd be interested in flashing the 3 firmware to see if it resolves the issue.
Thanks
Tony

if 4g option is not available check ur variant model.
d5503 or d5502?
if ur device is lte variant and have problem with lte option try to repair ur firmware instead of flashing another firmware
if it not solve ur problem then u can search for flashable modem or another firmware
:good:
Definitely D5503 version. I've spoken to 3 UK and they've told me to wait for a software update from Sony. There is however no software update available for my phone - it's still on the original UK generic jb firmware 114 and I'm aware others have received two updates already following this version. I thought getting hold of the 3 UK Firmware might speed the process up :0)

Did LTE work on your previous phone? Some carriers require a new SIM card for LTE (like Orange in my country).

A new sim card may well be my next step however 3 state that its not necessary and should just require a firmware update. My previous phone was an Xperia T, I swapped to the Z1c so i'd have 4G capability! I may try upgrading to the .681 kitkat firmware first using the uk generic FTF available from these forums but I was just curious to know if anyone has purchased a Z1c direct from 3 and whether they have similar issues.

Tony
Have you tried dialling *#*#4636#*#* and then go to Phone Info, then scroll to the bottom (to the drop-down) and see if you are able to choose LTE/GSM/WCDMA (PRL) ?

Yes I've tried that. There are LTE options available in that menu but when I choose one and go back to the main settings the network mode has changed back to wcdma (preferred)/gsm.

If your SIM Card is old then you'll need a new one, I did for O2 so would imagine it's the same for most networks.

Just a minor question.
Do you have 4G coverage in your area?
I've just put my bro's sim card(3 network)
And the 4G option is available umder network settings, however there is no 4G in this area for Three.
REKOGNÍZED KONYHABÚTOR
Don't have 4g on the area I live at the moment but what started this whole thing off was that I was away with my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and she had 4g (iPhone 5s) and I didn't - both on the 3 network.

Ok so I tried flashing the ftf of the UK generic firmware and the LTE option has now appeared. Obviously the update was required but for some reason Sony didn't want to give it to me by Ota or pccompanion! Anyway problem solved.

Hi All,
While trying to set "WCDMA Preffered" in engineering mode *#*#4636#*#*, I did some changes in "Select Radio Band" option.
After which phone is totally stuck in CDMA mode. I tried with all three options available in Radio Band. (US Band, PCS, Cellular) but none helped me to fix.
In engineering mode, its always showing the CDMA IMEI and not detecting any GSM signal. This problem is only with SIM1. SIM2 seems to be working fine.
Ph variant: A5_DWG India, Kitkat Stock rooted.
Steps I did:
1) Did a full data wipe. But still issue persists.
2) Restored the back up of my stock ROM but still no go.
I request all experts to guide me fix this problem.
I'm also having the problem, did you find any solution?

Hello, I just bought a G710ULM off the bay and verified the model before purchase. I received it and the software verifies it's a G710ULM but a IMEI check shows it's a PM (Sprint). So the software is still on V10b with no updates coming. I'm thinking this is because the update checks the IMEI and sees it as a Sprint device even though the software says G710ULM. I see a version on LG's site for 11e, is that the latest version? Trying to figure out if I'd been duped. The seller is a MAJOR seller and I'm thinking they are getting these as new Sprint units and LG or someone is reflashing them. I might be all wrong but 2 different IMEI checkers say it's a Sprint.

G710ULM owner here on Project Fi, the latest version is M10g. Updated to it about a week ago. Your phone may just need some time, or you can try using the LG Bridge software on a computer to update the phone over USB. Otherwise, it may just be a carrier thing.
I tried Bridge but when I check for update it gives an error. Wondering, when you check you IMEI does it show up as a G710ULM ? thank you
I got the same problem, got it on ebay, In settings the model is G710ULM, but the real model is G710PM. I also try updating via LGBRIDGE i aslo get the same error. Trying to get a KDZ file but i just cant find one and i don't know if putting another region firmware would work. There's a youtuber that had sprint LG G6 and just changed the Firmware (used one from canada, it work and also UNLOCKED all bands for world wide use).
Same ebay phone Same issue here with no s/n showing hardware is fine unlocked running tmobile usa.. Signal seems bad. Never see 4glte icon only 4g , H, G. Hopefully we can flash to some other firmware to get lastest update.Right now running v10b-Lao-COM firmware i guess thats sprint rom

I did flash mine, had the ULM software with SECURITY PATCH MAY.... What i did is download ULM 10g file from website, used LG-UP to flash it, But first you have to create a DLL file for LG-UP for this to work, if not you going to a error on LG-UP when you hit START.

Yes, the G710ULM firmware 10g that's the project FI(I used another link, not the same you posted, but it should work). I was running the same firmware V10b-LAO-COM, The project FI, was the only one I could find (ULM), so that's why I decided to use that one and because I read on Google that those phones are unlocked. I don't have the steps, but I could make a post in a few hours. And also it's still unlocked, using it outside the US. (I got this one on eBay unlocked version, but it's Sprint).
Does it work with Sprint now? I have the same story - bought "unlocked" g7 on eBay, shows G710ULM in settings but IMEI shows as Sprint phone.. Was working on Tmobile but when I activated with Sprint it doesn't read the SIM.

Well I think it really depends on you, maybe you should return de device, if Sprint doesn't work.... On eBay it said "UNLOCKED". So if it does not work just return it... I am using the phone outside the US.

Apologies for replying to an old thread, but I have one of these modded sprint g7 that shows G710ULM.
Could someone be able to be kind enough to list out the steps used to manually upgrade the stock android 8 up to android 9 please?

Hi All,
I have Samsung S9 Unlocked T-mobile from US and currently in India. Currently i have Oreo Version.
As all know, it doesnt have VOLTE option enabled which is needed for my sim network for voice calls to go through.
Somewhere i read Pie update will have VOLTE option and hence i am trying to update to Pie update.
I downloaded G960USQS6CSGB firmware for T-mobile, but before upating firmware using Odin, i got doubt if it will stick to T Mobile after update. This will make my phone not usable in India.
I tried to check online, but couldnt get direct answer and hence posting in new thread.
Can someone help clarify if it will lock the mobile to T-Mobile or will the phone be still in unlocked state?
Also i see two CSC files in the firmware folder. CSC and HOME_CSC. Which one to use?
If I should update with some other firmware for being unlocked and yet to get PIE update, please point to required firmware name or links.
Also will updating to PIE update will have VOLTE option ? Kindly confirm.
Thanks in Advance.

csc will factory reset your phone, home_csc wont
volte wasnt removed from pie, so that shouldnt be an issue
the firmware version you posted has the 6th bootloader revision, im betting here is a 7th available for your phone, but the 6th version should be fine as well
as far as the unlocked state of the phone goes, it shouldnt re-lock, but im paranoid lol. Have you looked into the U1 versions of the phones firmware? Theyre inherently unlocked firmwares and dont have any of that irritating bloatware **** in them

if it has no financial obligation to any carrier and the phone locks to that carrier, then the carrier it locked to would be required to release it. I cant imagine how it would lock to t-mob tho
Factory unlocked phones stay unlocked, no matter what firmware you flash.
Carrier locked phones that were properly unlocked by the carrier (they provide the code to SIM unlock the phone) will stay unlocked, again, no matter what firmware you flash to it - as long as it's compatible. Flashing the wrong firmware may just brick the phone. But, at least it's still SIM unlocked.
Phones that had some kind of software hack installed to trick the phone into thinking it's unlocked will lose the unlock status when you flash a firmware that also wipes the phone. Then it will come back as carrier locked again, because the hack is gone.
That last case is the only case I know of that will "re-lock" a phone. I've never heard of a carrier unlocked phone spontaneously re-locking under any circumstance.
Hi,
Thanks for the details. I tried to flash G960U1UES6CSG4_G960U1OYM6CSG4_XAA firmware. But while loading AP file in ODIN, it gave some error. Couldnt understand what is the error as its in chinese.
Then i loaded G960USQS6CSGB_G960UOYN6CSGB_TMB firmware which i downloaded previously. This got loaded in ODIN without any issues. And i am able to flash to phone. On rebooting, saw that phone moved to Pie version.
But i couldnt find VOLTE option (Enhanced calling) option. Does anyone know which version will enable that option?
Or anyother way to enable that please.
Thanks in advance.

if your Odin error messages are in Chinese, youve obtained a modified version. Itll probably work, but youll get that Chinese stuff whenever it needs to tell you anything. I dont know which versions have volte tbh. Sorry man.

yeah, sort of. The CSC's on these things are weird. Im starting to believe that these new versions of android are just like windows ISOs where they have all the versions compressed into one file and it uses a directory file to tell the firmware which version to install. Im sure a code writing dev can confirm or deny this thought, but at this point its merely a weak theory

Hello everyone
I have an LG v30+ running stock android 9 with the global v31a rom.
Today I moved to a new carrier, and after installing new sim, the cellular internet works just fine, but voice calls and sms are not working.
I get the "phone not allowed for voice" message and on the taskbar shown on a "MM" icon.
At first I also received an error windows I attached here.
Moving the new sim to another newer xiaomi phone - everything works fine including calls and sms.
Customer service couldn't fix them from their said claiming it's an issue with phone configurations.
Any idea on how to fix this?
Thanks
I just tested another company's sim card and everything works fine.
So it must be some support from the new carrier
Any idea what can be done before I chose another carrier?
What is the model number (Settings -> General -> About phone -> Hardware info)?
Please share a screendump of your Network status screen (Settings -> General -> About phone -> Network). You can blank out the IP address.
Also, please share screendump of the Testing menu Phone information screen (dial *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information). Scroll it up 3 lines lines so you don't share IMEI, Phone number, IMSI, but so that we can see all the Provisioned lines.
First thing I would try is a Network settings reset (Settings -> General -> Restart & reset -> Network settings reset) then restart the phone.
It is possible that your carrier only provides voice over VoLTE (and SMS over IMS, which is part of the same feature set). That only works if the phone knows the correct settings for your carrier. That would explain why it works with the newer Xiaomi phone. You can check if you have VoLTE settings in the menu (Settings -> Network menu -> Call). Even if the phone does NOT know your carrier, you may be able to configure it through the Hidden menu (depending on your model number). But it is VERY complicated, and you need detailed information from the carrier about the settings to enter.
Or it could be something else entirely.
On a different note, this thread definitely should have been in the Questions section, not in the Guides section.

Not sure why you are calling 31a "global". It's merely the European H930 31a Pie. I've seen a couple of other people use that term and not sure why... It's not "global" in any way than any other KDZ. (EDIT: I see your screenshot where it says global, which is very strange. Is that some setting? That's just weird.)
Unless you actually have an H930 phone, using the H930 KDZ will not give you the H930 bands or anything. You are still using the LTE/HSPA bands that are on your variant. Some people use H930 firmware on H930D/H930DS for different language options and vice versa. So, "global" is quite an exaggeration. Canada H933 has more LTE bands than any of the V30 variants, so it's really the "global" if any are. (But you can't convert to Canada H933 unless you have a compatible North American variant.)
What variant do you have and what country do you live in?
Ahh, so a European H930. Which country are you in, and who is the carrier?

I don't know where you live and what variant you actually have, but you are using EU H930 31a KDZ.
For instance, if you are in India and using Jio carrier, you need India H930DS KDZ as Jio is VoLTE only. But H930 31a doesn't have Jio's VoLTE settings... Using "another carrier" which allows legacy HSPA during phone calles would then be why it works on the other carrier but not Jio. To fix that you would need to flash India region H930DS firmware.
I am not saying you live in India or using Jio -- you didn't give us any information about that. I am just giving a real life example of why your phone would work on one carrier but not another.
Also, some carriers make you register your phone. If you just stick the same SIM card in you had from previous phone, it sees it's a different phone and will throw up an error message like that until you call them or go into store and tell them what "new" phone you are using. The "other carrier" may not be such a control freak.

Since he says he has V30+, I know he doesn't have native H930 phone. There are no H930 V30+. The V30+ are H930G and H930DS and neither on them have firmware numbered "31a".

I see posts from you back in November and you have been on 31a for awhile...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81065243&postcount=852
So, any issues have to be with this new carrier as you have had phone calls on 31a for most of a year now.
Sorry, double post
Thanks everyone for the replies.
@TheDannemand
Some more information about my device:
Country: Israel
Carrier: We4G
Hardware version: LH-H930G.
Looking up using my IMEI number on lg-roms website gives this model: LG V30 Plus TD-LTE
I shared the network menu testing menu you mentioned.
I DO NOT see any VOLTE setting in the Call menu.
I already tried network settings reset.
@ChazzMatt
I have the H930G version. Actually I always follow your guides in that thread to upgrade the version, and I've been on this stock firmware for a year. So it must be something related to the carrier settings I think.
I actually didn't use my country's specific KDZ file as it was released a bit late. I used the european version if I remember well.
Should I flash the local one? According to lg-firmwares and lg-roms website it's this one:
Code:
https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/21127/H930G30a_00_OPEN_IL_OP_0903
Will it have an impact on call services and bands?
Any chance it is really a carrier using VoLTE for calls? I tried asking all kind of questions but didn't get any smart answer from the tech support team.
Also, what do you mean by registering the phone? I never heard about this.
Thanks again!

For some reason I cannot see your attachments. What I wanted to see was (1) whether you have an LTE connection and (2) whether the phone sees VoLTE as provisioned. In truth, I only need the Phone info screen (from the Testing menu) to see that.
I think it is quite plausible that your carrier requires VoLTE to make calls and that your ROM doesn't support it because it doesn't know your carrier. A ROM for your region probably DOES know your carrier (if they are well established). But it's also possible that it doesn't (if they're newer or changed their VoLTE parameters in recent years).
This was my first thought when I read your post and saw that you were on 4G (which should be LTE, although in USA carrier marketing departments have diluted the term to also cover old 3.5G). And I see that it is ChazzMatt's thought too, with the example from Jio India.
I googled We4G to get a clue if they're VoLTE only, but all the links were in Hebrew
Carriers who don't require VoLTE drop the connection to 3G in order to make calls. This works on every phone that supports LTE because it doesn't require knowledge about your carrier.
However VoLTE relies entirely on VoIP and requires an elaborate login to carrier servers, with security and handshaking to prevent illicit use of their network. And the parameters for that are carrier specific. Each phone has a so-called "buffet" of carrier configs known to that ROM. That's why it matters to use a ROM that knows your carrier.
Thanks for the detailed reply.
I think I'll try the local ROM I mentioned. I just want to be sure it doesn't make a clean wipe if I flash Kdz with LG UP. is that so?
I'm uploading the attachments once again.

Thank you. I see your attachments now.
So you do indeed have LTE connection for your mobile data. But the phone doesn't even pick up VoLTE provisioning -- which is the first and most basic step in supporting VoLTE.
I would definitely try the regional ROM, but you should flash with Refurbish or Partition DL -- which means losing data. Sorry.
In fact, since you're doing a Frankenstein, I would flash back to Nougat first using Partition DL (to update the partition table), perform a Master Reset (it may bootloop until you do), then flash up to Pie. Wait for @ChazzMatt to confirm those steps.
Good luck to you

I really hope I can flash it without losing data. I prefer not to back up all data.
That's what I also did in the previous rom upgrades.
Would that be possible?

I don't see any way to do this safely without losing data. Sorry.
You could skip that carrier and go with one that doesn't require VoLTE (i.e. one which supports the old dropping to 3G for calls). But you won't have the benefits of VoLTE and WiFi Calling. And you may be in the same situation later if that carrier decides to close down their 3G network and go VoLTE only.

Try enabling 'VoLTE Provisioned' on that screen then restarting your phone.
Is there an 'Advanced Calling' menu in Settings?
Two things that might help:
1) Before taking the plunge, put the SIM in your Xiaomi phone and see if you can make a call WITHOUT using VoLTE: One way is if Settings menus allow disabling VoLTE. If no Settings menus, try the same Testing info - Phone info screen and see if VoLTE is provisioned there. I assume it is. But if VoLTE is ALSO not provisioned on the Xiaomi, that means the problem isn't lack of VoLTE on the V30.
2) Just backup the phone using LG Backup, either through Settings -> General menu -> Backup (then transfer file to PC or flash drive) or using LG Bridge. It backs up all app data and most phone settings (though not all). And I was able to use it across different ROM versions and even different ROMs (between H932 and US998).

I can't turn it on unfortunately.
There's a call--> additional settings - - > other settings menu
But I get this error message when I try it, and then I lose LTE connection too.

That one is info only, not a toggle -- even though it looks like it.

Yeah, as long as the phone doesn't see it as provisioned, we can forgot about menus and settings.

I didn't find settings to turn off VoLTE.

The screenshot doesn't include the VoLTE line. But if VoLTE is ALSO not provisioned on the Xiaomi that means the problem if elsewhere, not lack of VoLTE on the V30. So hold off on that Frankenstein for a bit.
I have a client meeting coming up, probably won't have more time today. But this is good news, kind of
