I hard bricked my phone downgrading from 13b to 11a.
I can send it to LG for a repair per their customer support. I might try doing that.
Would anyone be willing to upload their eMMC image?
If you are that lucky person, who is stuck in the NEW “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008” mode, to be honest, the steps to be taken are a lot easier. However, you need somebody having the same phone as yours to upload your device’s complete eMMC image for you. To get such image, you could ask your friend to do these steps (root the phone first):
Format your external MicroSD card with “exfat” system file, and the size of this SD card should be morethan 16 GB , which is the size of the whole partition.
Do a full factory reset, meaning wipe your cache, data, and internal storage using either CWM, TWRP, or PhillzTouch.
Insert the SD card to your phone and connect your mobile with ADB, type:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/storage/sdcard1/backup.img bs=512 count=30535646
The size of the “backup.img” is around 16 GB, However, if you compressed it, it would be around 2 GB.

I've been looking for this for months now. Unfortunately, not a lot of people wanted to help.
There are lots of people willing to help. The problem is that VS986 has not been rooted, and as stated in the post quoted above, root is required to dump the eMMC.
sushi-gee, I am having the same issue and was also told by LG support that I could send it in. Did you end up sending yours in to LG? If so, did they fix it?
I also live in Las Vegas (looking at you, greedness)!

What do you mean VS986 hasn't been rooted?
The Verizon LG G4 (vs98611a and 13b) have been rooted for some time now. And if you're on marshmallow you can downgrade to LP and still root.

It is not a full root though, is it enough to allow dumping the eMMC? If so, I will reroot mine to 13b and dump the eMMC for others(and probably myself) to use for recovering the phone from this state so that we can have more attempts to fully brick the thing!
It is a full root. But unlocking the bootloader and therefore installing a custom recovery is not available. There are methods for grabbing your own complete system image.

I'm still using my G4 to keep my fan from blowing my papers off my desk. The warranty had expired, and I did not have insurance through Verizon, so I may ship it to LG and hope for them to fix it for cheap or free, but it's not on my priority list(as if I keep such a list?!).
I bought a OnePlus 3T, which is a relieving experience after the G4's constant bull****. I've already flashed TWRP, and then flashed cyanogen, got that working, tried to flash nethunter on top of it all, got stuck in a fastboot bootloop, wiped, reformatted, re-flashed TWRP and cyanogen, and its all working again. That all goes very quickly when the phone is not throwing up road blocks at every step and forcing you to conduct potentially fruitless searches for cryptic error messages or stabbing you in the back with a qualcomm security 'feature' that never gets mentioned until you've triggered it.
The only drawback with the OnePlus 3T on Verizon is so far it is only capable of making/receiving calls or texts while connected to 3G. If I dial *#*#4636#*#* and choose 'LTE only' it will connect to Verizon 4G, but is then unable to call or text. That was all on the stock ROM, im gonna play around with third party stuffs to see if I can get both to work together.
I am also open to the option of opening up the G4 and retrieving the eMMC via JTAG if someone wants to point me to a guide(I found one a while ago, so it's out there somewhere)

This will only work if the device bricked on 27C or earlier. If you know what FW version you bricked on the extract that FW and replace the appropriate files in the recovery image folder.

I have the efs info saved to my pc from a previous backup, but cant get it into the phone.. Anyone with some info on how to maybe sideload it via adb sideload in stock recovery???
This is my last ditch effort. Small back story: I somehow wiped EVERYTHING on my G2. EFS partition, ESN, data, SIM info., everything with dialer codes. All of my network information reads "unknown". I tried many methods from here on the forums to get this data back and it turns out I have lost my EFS partition- DNA for the network? I sent it to LG to get it fixed, having done a hard reset and leaving no trace of root. They sent it back without even asking and did no repairs. The note said "board bent". WTF?? How does the user bend the main board, especially when I never opened it? They voided my warranty and ripped off my IMEI/MEID sticker from the back of the phone.
Anyways, I am here with a brick. No network still. Here is what I have done:
1) .tot method to ZVC. Several more times... once to ZV7 where I lost touch capability. Luckily saved my arse with a micro->usb cable and a mouse.
2) attempted to root with ioroot25. Failed because the phone WILL NOT find recovery mode. adb, voldown+pwr then again from power off, and apps are unable to force the phone into recovery mode. I assume it is possible that my recovery mode is deleted?
3) Would have tried all of these "rewrite your efs/imei/etc" things but I can't do any without root. Can't root without recovery, can I?
4) Spent the last two weeks scouring the internet for a fix and going back to my Epic 4G temporarily.
Please help me, has anyone seen this before? Can anyone help me fix it? I am to the point where I would pay to have it fixed. Any experts out there? XDA has yet to let me down... I just need to know if I can fix it or if it is a brick so I can go searching for an old Sprint GS3.
Thanks all,
baublitz
That is strange, no recovery ?
So phone completely off, power and volume up doesn't put you into stock recovery?

Have you tried the recovery method detailed in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
Assuming you can get the file system partitions outlined in this thread to appear on a Linux PC, you should be able to write the partition images here http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2/LS980/Stock_Firmware/zvc_partitions and recover your phone (particularly if you have an EFS backup).

Rooting doesn't matter for purposes of that recovery method; the reason it is mentioned is because rooting can cause you to get into the soft-bricked situation if you happen to take an over-the-air (OTA) update while you're rooted.
Here is my OG post...please, anyone, help me to know what YOU would do in this case. I'm freaking out that I have a $500 paperweight I can't take back to Sprint because I'm rooted and on a custom ROM. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Please help me, anyone. I am freaking. I flashed this ROM per the instructions (no I did not do a backup, my fault). However, although the ROM loaded, it told me I needed a T-Mobile SIM for WiFi calling to work. That may have been discussed before. That is irrelevant.
Since flashing this rom (Yes, I did the ROM, Modem, Reboot, and Firmware as said)...I can only make "Emergency Calls," I can't connect to data, can't connect to Sprint cell signal, and for the first time I can't get LG Flash Tool to work to get me back to Stock.
Can someone, anyone please tell me what to do? I need my phone soon because I'm leaving, but nothing works!!!!

Thanks again for your instructions and help. I got the OTG, followed your steps precisely, and it SAID it installed Stock ZVC successfully (twice, actually)...yet it still will only boot back into TWRP. In download mode, LG Flash tool still doesn't work. This computer has all drivers, Windows 7, and had no issues before this ROM.
Do you have any other ideas? Now I've bought a cable for no reason. Help, please!

EDIT: I used these instructions to get me out of the TWRP Bootloop:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2451696
Now I have the Stock Rooted ZVC Odex ROM installed, but STILL, no data, no signal connectivity. I try to update PRL and it says authentication error. I try to make a phone call and it says "Emergency Calls Only." This stuff ONLY happened after this (TMobile ROM). Please help me if you can. I've made major progress with your OTG instructions and getting out of the OTA TWRP Bootloop. Now how do I get past the "authentication" error and get the data and signal restored? Can Sprint do that from their side?
Edit # 2: I called Sprint, they walked me through fixing the MDN and MSID, factory reset, nothing works. It still shows "NO SERVICE," "AUTHENTICATION ERROR," AND ALTHOUGH IN MDN AND MSD my # is correct, in SETTINGS it shows my old (pre-port) phone number.
He told me to take it to a Sprint Store but clearly I can't because I'm rooted and on a debloated ROM. Please, any advice is so much appreciated.
Thank you,
BIlly

This SOUNDS like the answer...but I'm missing an EFS backup and these 2 files. Can I get my hands on these two files?
modemst1.img and modemst2.img????

I've had this problem. I do think this phone can be wonky when using custom ROMs. Some people have no problem, others have constant problems, and some have problems SOMETIMES. There is no right answer so far.
I would just continue flashing different ROMs until something works. This worked for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775888
But unfortunately now I have the dreaded touch dead-spot.

Yes, they did (hence the reference to LG Flash Tools). It sounds likeyour EFS partition got wiped. If you didn't back up your EFS, I think you're kinda SOL. From what I've read it's nearly impossible to get back your EFS data if you don't have the files. If you can find a way to hack it out by using someone else's files, let me know. I have mine from every backup I've done and if I can remove my info from them I'll post them. Sorry to hear about your issue, hope you find a solution.

I think I have great news. I looked in my ioroot folder and found both of the files (3 MB each) that are modemst1.img and modemst2.img.
I created a folder on the Internal called EFS_Backup, and I copied and pasted those two files into the new folder, renaming them efs1 and efs2. They renamed and stuck in the folder just fine, but running the ADB commands didn't work. So I used the flashable EFS zip in TWRP and it said FAILED.
I'm thinking since I have these 2 files I should be able to fix this, right???? But...the thing that's driving me nuts is that LG Flash Tool, no matter what version, will NOT work on my device anymore. Not with either of my PC's.
Does anyone have a suggestion for what to do now that I found those modem files in my ioroot folder?
I feel like this is the closest I have gotten and now I'm stuck. LG Flash Tools never worked on Windows 8. The OLDER versions worked fine with .tot files BEFORE all of this happened, in Windows 7. Now even Windows 7 won't work to use LG Flash Tools, after I created this mess.
Can anyone PLEASE help me take these 2 files and get them to fix my EFS? I really don't know what I'm doing, clearly, or I would have backed up my EFS first. Problem here is probably same everywhere...I've always done this, never bothered with Nandroid or EFS backups, but also never had the issue of only having an internal memory on an Android device. Stupid mistake.
I would greatly appreciate any help that can be offered. I have one more day and I can still take this phone back...IF I can fix it. Thank you in advance!
PS: I Have my ESN, MEID HEX, MEID DEC, IMEI, ICCID AND IMSI - ALL POPULATED WITH NUMBERS IN SETTINGS. WHAT IS "UNKNOWN" IS MY PHONE NUMBER AND MY PRL.

If you can get into Download mode, then your softbricked and can reflash full firmware.. If not, Then sorry, unless you have a Jtag, there is not much you can do.
The drivers you think are installing are not the ones that you could use to do anything. I only know this because I have hardbricked a G3 before as well.
Hopefully yours is only softbricked.

When plugged in and your computer recognizes it, starts installing drivers it could be drivers adb, I would think if the phone was truly off it wouldn't do anything. Could be wrong tho, do you have adb set up? What happens when you run adb devices?

don't waste your time trying to get it fix.i did the same thing and i never found a way to fix it.i bought the phone second hand so no t-mobile warranty then my only solution was calling lg and since the phone has a one year warranty with lg it do not matter if you have a receipt or not. i send it to lg with label and ra# they provided.took 2 weeks but lg fix my lg g3 for free. try that.for what i found out is the only solution at the moment for hardbrick.
If it doesn't turn on, I suggest you either use your warranty for LG Repair Service ( like I did) or get a new replacement from LG or T-Mobile. There is no way to fix this problem atm and if your computer recognize the device, its going to be called QHSUSB_DLOAD. It took me a week to figure out that I had to send it to LG. Remember guys, this is hardbricked( can't turn on/ dead motherboard) so no download mode
I really don't want to send my G3 to Lg because I'm a senior in High School and I don't want to lose my pictures :/ I have an animation on popping up now but its for low battery i guess. other than that nothing is happening. I'll post a pic

If you dont wanna loose your pics, that should have been backed up on external or cloud then your prob out of luck. but you can also find some phone repair place and let them hook your phone up to Jtag and reflash your phone... jtag is hard to explain, it requires soldering...... So if you dont know what it is, then dont try it your self.
PS:.. Tell us what it says in Device manger when you plug in your phone to USB.. click view and view hidden devices in device manger. take screen shot if you must.
you might just might be able to fix yor problem. if you can see the bat thing. then could just be a softbrick.. but without download mode you wont be able to fash anything.

Update 2/15
Okay so my g3 was hard bricked I sent it to factory, they replaced the internal storage and sent me back same phone (I checked IMIE) It came updated so It was patched. I downgraded it and rooted it again I put latest version on TWRP and now I'll be paying closer attention to what I flash and don't flash. Thank you guys for your support and trying to help me. I really appreciate it.
Guess who hard bricked his phone again?
So this is kinda a rant because I went where I was supposed to go this time and I read for the most part but again error in the posts and forums. I went to the reference guide and was looking for a stock version of lollipop (I didn't know it hasn't come out yet)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/ref-t-mobile-lg-g3-links-guides-roms-t2860576
scrolled down and clicked cloudy rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-cloudyg3-1-0-t2917467
it took me to another post not ment for d851 I scroll down and look at the features "Based on latest LG G3 official ROM"
okay im sold. I read the intructions and i download what i have to and do everything perfect
I flash the lolipop base band check
Start flashing cloudy, a menu pops up with different variants no d81 so i exit installation and do advanced wipe except internal and external
install another rom so everything is good in the hood, wipe cache and reboot
I check my phone and nothing. It's hard bricked. THE F***king base band bricked my phone. I have to send my phone to factory again if they do it for free, most likely not because this is my second time. then if they do, i have to pay shipping and handling, then pay someone to unlock the sim because im not on tmobile anymore I'm on cricket :/ Not everyone here is an expert on all of this, i understand its no ones fault but my own but **** when i go here i think these guys are pros and experts on mods, roms, etc. when a legitimate post is stabled and says its the guide i expect it to be right and not have to worry. I go back to cloudy rom post and i scroll down more and i see FAQ
This ROM no longer support my variant since 2.0? I'm using D850/D851/LS990/VS985, can I flash this Lollipop version?
- No, you guys cant use this Lollipop version (2.0). You must wait till LG release official ROM for your variant first to have new kernel & baseband.
- Anyway, if you wanna use my KitKat ROM, you can get it (version 1.2) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devd...6315#downloads
Gee thanks for that. A completely different link. why couldn't that be the first thing or something. ugh. Thank you for whoever read my whole rant. I hope someone hears me out and sparks a change.

I guess you paid the price for rushing thru the process. Sometimes we get caught up in the moment. Its been clear for days, weeks and months that stock LP for TMO G3 has not been released and much development is hinging on that release. I myself have been rooting phones/tablets for years and been fortunate not to make mistakes (or catch myself in time before doing so) and never even had a soft brick experience to date. I hope you got it sorted out

Thanks, but I've found myself .
On Global ROM with Global Phone, TWRP successfully installed and rooted. Updated Magisk in apk and zip. Loaded and ran well many rooted apps over several days. Now, after backing up, then testing for a successful restore by formating the data partition and wiping other partitions as I have with previous TWRP installations on other Xiaomi phones (Redmi Note 5A, Redmi 5 Plus) from the SD card, I cannot successfully do so with RN 8 Pro. Backup and Restore is the main reason I have installed TWRP on all my previous phones, and I have saved myself huge problems just by restoring backups when needed. I can certainly wait for an official version, but are there any steps that must be taken to do a corredt backup and then restore on this phone with either of the 2 TWRP unofficial versions? Thanks for reading this.
Just more observations: the TWRP version posted on September 25 is now good-to-go for my backup/restore procedures: backup boot, data, system, system image and vendor and vendor image. The later TWRP version fom Agent_fabulous has continued to baffle me (Good to see all this development, and looking forward to future succeses). I restored wiping only dalvik and cache as well as system partition. It seems important, and I am not sure why, that data is NOT formated (did this a number of times, resulting in failures) , as there is an error when trying to restore the backup, after it was formated. Restoring, in any event, wipes data in its own restore process, so formating here is not necessary. This TWRP version, after following the detailed installation instructions, does work after some trial and error. Many iterations of building up from factory installation to what I wanted, losing it, building it up again. Now the warning from MIUI that any more requests for unlocking (which I seemed to need) will be met with a permanent lockout!! NOt sure about how to get around that, but I don't want to test it again ...
Thanks for reading this
Okay, bad news, as I have bricked this otherwise excellent phone: upgraded to beta 11 by using TWRP to flash Global V11, no red lines in what seemed successful, but the phone did not reboot. Tried to downgrade and flash V10 with TWRP, again seemed successful - no red lines, but when trying to reboot, the phone went completely dead. No response from any button (Volume +, - or Power). Tried flashing with SP_flash and received this message:
ERROR : STATUS_SEC_AUTH_FILE_NEEDED (0xC0030012)
[HINT]:
Please select a valid authentication file or ask for help
Xiaomi refused to help but said to contact the seller, who is on Ali Express and has not responded from 2 requests. I have since read that Xiaomi does NOT permit any downgrade on its newer phones. Is a bricking what happens when the attempt is made?
Then sent off the phone to a Xiaomi reseller here in Canada, and have yet to have any result. I assume that a ROM can be reinstalled, but my concern would be if the IMEI numbers would be lost, and unable to flash them on the NVRAM partition. Jeez ... my ignorance has caught up in a bad way ...
Ouch, I hope your device gets unbricked.
Okay, this link http://https://c.mi.com/thread-2173190-1-0.html has been referred to for getting Xiaomi authorization to unbrick their dead phones, with only a LED showing a connection to a USB port. I tried 2 weeks ago to apply for this authorization, but the final part to select and send a request to Xiaomi seemed not to work, so I abandoned the exercise. Instead, the phone was sent to a Xiaomi reseller and in such a downward and surprising turn, the phone has disappeared in Canada's postal delivery system. It has never arrived at the reseller's. The package was insured, Canada Post is looking into the problem, but nothing has been found. I went back to the first link mentioned here out of curiosity to see what I may have missed, and retraced the steps to have my computer get the authorization to unbrick the phone. To my surprise, the final step binding my computer to authorization to flash the phone allowed me to do just that. I have permission. There was no e-mail with the code sent (as was mentioned in the steps of the procedure in the link above), and I have no idea how long this permission had been granted. I also have no idea how Xiaomi sent permission to my computer without me knowing about it. In any event, I sent the phone off too soon, obviously, and now it is lost somewhere. For those who have a bricked RN 8 Pro, the link seems a best option to flash with Miflash with a wait time for authorization, and it may not be given by e-mail, but done right on the computer without your knowledge. H'mmm ... It has been a convoluted journey through a successful root and then a bricked Redmi Note 8 Pro. Hope to get the phone back, eventually, or a new one from the insurance. Will let you know .... Hey, thanks for reading this story.

Thanks for sharing. I usually go full on guns blazing root mode the second i get a new phone, even in muddy waters but this time around i'm going to be patient for a while until some good news surfaces. I can't afford to lose this phone at the moment. I have your post to thank for that.
Well, my error of the address of the repair shop on the package contributed completely to the disappearance of this phone in the Canada Post system. There should be little problem in correcting it, however the service says they will "try" to deliver it by Jan. 2, 2020. I can give Canada Post the correct address, however, I cannot find any web page to do so - keep going in circles. The phone number puts me in a long queue. Seemingly I can't ask to have it returned now, the rules of delivery must be followed. Will keep trying. Oh my, so far away from Backup/Restore and bricking ...

Spoke (Wrote) too soon. This approach has been tried and failed for the "deep flash" requirement. It seems what is needed is an "Authorized Service Account". Back to square one ... Thanks for reading this.

I've been all over the Internet trying to gain access to more information about how to repair my LG G4. Well... Let's start from the beginning.
Story
I have an LG G4, it's old and I've had it for over 4-5 years now... I can't exactly remember how long I had it for. It still works, just needs a new battery and cable (cats chewed the cable and batteries don't last when you forget to disconnect them from the device, leave it plugged in for weeks and let it completely die for longer then a week).
I recently saw a video about the Pine phone and the fact that it was able to run a linux mobile distribution and when I looked into installing a custom OS into LG G4, it was possible... If I manually ported it myself.
I actually got fairly far using my Xubuntu system with configuring and compiling, the trouble I ran into was that I couldn't root or fastboot my device.
So, now here's where the problem began, I have a LG G4 factory reset and when I load up the Recovery mode, it brings up the android guy with their chest open and an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle, no message. After attempting to boot into recovery mode, I wait a little while and the phone automatically resets back to normal. When I use ADB to force the phone into fast boot, it skips it and starts the phone normally.
Now I'm on a mission to find a way to either fix the boot or flash the firmware (in hopes that it fixes the boot/recovery).
I have already tried:
Installing LGFlashTool
Versions, 2.0.1.6, 2.0.1.9, Year: 2014 and 2.0.2.5. Other than year 2014, the other ones were installed from LGFlashTool.com
Since Xubuntu can't run these files properly, I just ran them on my wife's Windows computer
I installed the LG Mobile Drivers and LGFlashTool had registered that it was the correct DLL but, it didn't seem to find the phone
Year 2014 LGFlashTool had found the phone but, I may have had the incorrect kdz file.
The Flash starts and the phone goes to firmware update, but the phone stops at zero and sits there while the program crashes saying that there was an error (in which no means to read, understand or locate the description of this error) and to try again by unplugging and removing the battery.
This version was downloaded from xda-developers.com
Conclusion
Once I can get into fastboot, I'll be able to root my phone and attempt to install the mobile OS I have ready.
Otherwise, I think I might be able to install a microSD card with the OS but, I don't think that will work if I can't get into the option to boot from a separate location (I believe that's called fastboot). But, then again... I think the phone needs to be rooted first... Then that brings me to the previous issue.
Details and Information
The phone details (as far as I see) are:
When I remove the battery I can see:
FCC ID: ZMFH810
IC ID: 2703C-H812
Model Number: LG-H812
I'm not exactly sure what KDZ file I got but the name is: PR H810PR10a_02.kdz, I also have the _04.kdz
I'm using H815 as my compile for the mobile OS, I may switch to H810 when I get back to that point.
Useless information: I still have the original leather backing... Removed from the phone because I didn't like it. If I find it, I can ship it to someone.
That's about it... I am very terrible about research and using Google properly (I have no idea why, I think it's a terrible flaw to have but, I have it). So, if you find the solution by typing words I didn't use or finding a similar post, I am very sorry. Hope I have everything posted here to help solve the issue, linking to posts that can resolve the issue or posting questions on what I might be missing will help.
Thanks in advance for the support of this community,

Well first of all you need to unlock your phone. H812 can't be unlocked officially though. Check my sig for the only unofficial one. Once unlocked you can flash custom ROMs but first of all you should read about ARB (antirollback) also in my sig and ensure you understand the risks all this brings. Gl.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I will attempt to fix my phone with your solution. This phone is technically almost garbage and when I fully update the phone, it runs like trash. So, if I can install a custom ROM, it may run a little better or have the tools I would personally like in a phone.
I'll let you know the details of my attempt,
Lilrock
