Has anyone been able to unlock the bootloader on their verizon phone with sunshine? I cant see any other way to do it since the OEM unlock option has been removed from the phone. I'd really like to root this phone but id rather not spend money on that without knowing it will work.

If you can get TempRoot, you can follow the instructions in the link in this thread from BigCountry907

So I've heard about bootloader unlocking which, I guess, enables me to have full control over the device (not like rooting, I understand that) and to do stuff like flashing new ROMs, etc.
But what about network unlocking? I mean, I'd like to be able to use my phone on any network I wish, do I need to unlock the bootloader for that? Do the network restrictions automatically disappear if I unlock the bootloader?
Also, is there anyway I can disable network restrictions by myself (without using something like a special SIM card or asking for remote unlocking) without having to pay for any unlocking service or ask someone to do it for me?
Thanks in advance! :3

Hi, so to answer your question, when you unlock the bootloader the sim lock remains, also afaik there are no "free" ways in which to remove the sim lock at this moment in time, the only way is to get the unlock code from your service provider or pay a remote unlocking service.
I think i may have seen on the arc forum somewhere for a small fee you can get your boot loader unlocked and sim unlocked at the same time.
One last note if your arc is sim locked there is a chance that you wont be able to unlock the bootloader via sony ericsson developer world, depending on your carrier

That means it's also possible to unlock the boot loader remotely?
Also, if there's someone who can do it for us (small fees inc.), that means there's actually a way to do it, right?

Yes there is a way to do it, i cant remember how much it costs exactly, but it's done remotely and sim unlocks and boot loader unlocks at the same time
And is it something I can do by myself?

If someone else can do this as a paid service. Why can't someone explain how its done and make it available for free?

As for that i cannot answer.. But at a guess a lot of hard work will have gone into this. It keeps drm intact, provides Sim unlock and enables fast boot on handsets which didn't have it before, if i was in that situation with my arc i would have gladly paid, and i myself think the Dev/Devs are entitled to some hard earned cash

The boot loader can be unlocked whilst keeping drm intact?
Now that is something id be interested in paying for know anyone who would be able to do this?
If I get the Xperia Play sim unlocked, Can I then unlock the bootloader?
if you unlock your bootloader via jinx or alejandrissimo it will unlock your sim at the same time... i used alejandrissimo, very professional and was unlocked in minutes but it is the paid way.
unlocking your sim will not change anything at all to do with your bootloader im afraid, if your sim locked the paid way is the only way - $24 well worth it!!
Looks like thats the way im going to have to go. On the plus side, I get paid tuesday. =)
But yeah, I was just wondering cause I know people were like you cant unlock the bootloader if its a sim locked phone and all this other stuff and I was thinking, What if I called up ATT and got them to unlock the IMEI?
But if that wont change anything, I guess the paid method is how im going to have to go about doing this.
Thanks
If you get it sim unlocked your bootloader will then be allowed to be unlocked.

I believe the bootloader is specific Per-Device.
You can check if you can in your settings, excuse my newbieness,
Settings > Root Status (or something to this effect)
If your bootloader can be unlocked it'll be listed there.
I dont think the status of your SIM (locked or unlocked) affects the bootloader.

Well... Then I guess Im just gonna call up ATT and get the unlock code. Unlock the phone's sim lock and see if I can, Worse comes to worse, I cant. I still have the paid method available and I havent paid any money what so ever.

Ive looked there and it doesnt show. Which is what brought my hopes down in the first place but everywhere I looked... it said I cant because the device is simlocked. Which is why i wanna know if getting the sim lock removed would then allow me to access and unlock the Bootloader via FastBoot.
I have never owned a phone that has stopped me from rooting and installing custom roms to it. This is kinda a dissapointment but on the plus side, its a good phone.
Hard to get an unlock code from AT&T Or so I heard, but if you do, if you can tell me what you said, that'd be great.
If you do get an unlock code from them, Cant hurt to try to unlock the bootloader after that.

Im a "Valued" member of ATT. Had them for years. So, They dont question me. As long as youve had the phone on your account for 90 days, they dont bother you if you ask for a unlock code.
I will most likely do this tomorrow and will post the outcome. because like I said, if it just takes unlocking the sim card from ATT to be able to unlock the bootloader... id rather do that.
Im not against paying 24$ to have it done.. but why not try what I can for free first?
Hi everyone, I'm completely new to smartphones, just bought an Xperia Play 800i. I have been keenly reading the forums, going through everything I need to know.
My android version is 2.3.4 and build number is 4.0.2.A.0.42. Phone is network locked.
If you don't mind letting me know, the best way to start is by unlocking the SIM right? Then unlock the bootloader, then custom kernel and flashing?
Your advise would be appreciated.
AFAIK regular SIM unlocking doesn't let you unlock your bootloader.
I've read of people who pay a little or get sim unlock from other methods which isn't enough for the bootloader.
It's just that Alejandrissimo's method unlocks both sim & allows for bootloader (it's a 2 for 1 method).
Hope it helps, and if AT&T gives you a free sim unlock code then give it a shot, but it's said it doesn't work that way.
I'm trying Alejandrissimo's method and I'm lost. Have PM'd him and waiting for his reply. I am not on the AT&T network.

Thought that was only T-Mobile. Sadly I dont even have an account with them, Just bought the phone from ebay. So im probably gonna have to spend more to get the thing sim-unlocked.
Oh, look what I found on AT&T's website.
Requirements for monthly wireless plans:
Your wireless service has been active for 90 days or longer
Your account is current and in good standing
Your phone is not sold exclusively by AT&T
Your phone's unlock code is available from the manufacturer
Your phone does not have a long-term exclusive service agreement, or the contract time period has expired

I'm stuck at the USB over Network stage, keeps saying server unreachable when I select MY PC. What am I doing wrong? So frustrated!
You can get your Xperia unlocked in less than 10 minutes by Alejandrissimo. When he SIM unlocks your Xperia he will also automatically unlock bootloader.
You can visit his website here.

I visited his website, downloaded the zip file, and then I'm stuck not knowing what to do next.
So, you are saying I have to wait for him to respond to my request? So, I guess the USB over Network program will be used by him, to remote unlock my Xperia? I'm cool with that because I want to pay for the service.
I have my Verizon pixel xl unlocked with the sunshine mod from when I first got it. Can I relock the bootloader without the oem unlock setting being greyed out so I can unlock it in the future?
According to jcase, no.

While jcase was against it, after I have done my research, I attempted relocking my Verizon bootloader so I could send it out for RMA. I did it after I flashed the original factory image and made sure everything is back to OEM. So, I can tell you that it is possible. However, PLEASE don't take my words for it. Do your research and be 110% sure before you proceed. My heart was pounding so hard when I was trying to relock it because of the uncertainty... Anyway, do it at your own risk, I am just sharing you my experience, but please don't blame me if things go south

If by slider, you meant to ask if I locked it again, yes I did. I believe I relock it through fastboot.
There was really no point for me to unlock it again because I needed to send it for RMA so I never tried.

If you unlock it and your already updated you won't be able to unlock again.
Haven't personally tried but I would be willing to bet a large sum of money if you relock it you will not be able to unlock it again I wouldn't even take the risk.

I made the mistake of relocking and taking new updates. For sure, the unlock option was removed:
in first step of unlocking phone, the slider in Dev Options was forever greyed out. And it did not understand
fastboot unlock commands again. I would not recommend relocking Pixels for any reason other than return for
warranty repair.

Locking on anything stock past 7.1 without root, would prohibit you from unlocking. If locking your BL + and no root capability = NO ability to unlock BL Thus what we have have So far, no known exploits...at least by me.
I've searched for hours on google and this forum about rooting, bootloader unlock, flashing, and cant really find anything, so I'm guessing i cant do much with it. Can anyone tell me if there is anything i can do to unlock this phone? I just got out of prison for 5 years... It used to be so easy to root a phone back then. Now it seems impossible wtf.

Blame LG for not allowing bootloader unlock on the g7. The only phone that can be unlocked is the European model.
I am trying to root my phone but I can't get passed enabling the oem lock because it does show up in my developer settings. Is there a way I can root it without enabling that to open the bootloader. I'm very new at this so if anyone can help much appreciated.

If it's the U.S. variant, long story short is no.
Samsung has been hard locking bootloaders on U.S. variants for years now and you need to unlock bootloader (OEM Unlock) to flash custom binaries (Magisk/root).
It used to be that there was no way of unlocking bootloaders until recently, but it's a paid service
If you are really interested about unlocking your bootloader and you really want and/or need root, you can check this thread out: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/sampwnd-usa-model-bl-unlock-info-u-u1-w.4201689/
