If any of you ran into the constant roaming issues on the Galaxy S3, is this something that may occur on the Note 2?
I went through 2 S3s from Verizon, before a fix was found months later. I'm hesitant to root my Note 2 for fear of losing my IMEI etc...

i have an S3 and the N2 and "so far" no IMEI or roaming issues. did you check the Verizon Note 2 forum for feedback as well?
Yeah I've been keeping an eye out. I may wait it out a month before rooting. Hopefully its not at issue with the Note 2.

Hey guys, here's my situation. I'm buying a Nexus smartphone for development. This will not be my daily driver, my Verizon Galaxy S4 is used for that purpose. My two choices for Nexus phones are the Verizon Galaxy Nexus or Unlocked Nexus 4. I can get the Verizon Galaxy Nexus from a buddy for $160 or an Unlocked Nexus 4 for $299 through Google Play. I don't know what device to get and I need opinions.
Advantages for Unlocked Nexus 4:
Unlocked
Newer hardware
Better Design
Disadvantages fo4 Unlocked Nexus 4:
Higher Price than Unlocked Galaxy Nexus
Cannot throw in my Verizon SIM Card from my S4 to use in case I want to switch between it and the Nexus 4. ( I can however, do this with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus).
Advantages for Verizon Galaxy Nexus:
Cheaper
Able to use with my Verizon SIM Card
Removable battery
More storage
Disadvantage for Verizon Galaxy Nexus:
Older hardware
Not "brand new" (The Unlocked Nexus 4 will be)
So, what do you guys think?
Unlocked Nexus 4 or Verizon Galaxy Nexus?
Comment and tell me what you think!

Another thing to consider, is that the GNex may be at the end with official updates. I would assume it will see 4.3 officially, but after that who knows. The N4 will get at least one more year of updates. Another thing to consider, is that the Verizon version of the GNex lags behind with updates. Perhaps 4.2.2 was the last update it sees, even if the GSM versions get another update.
N4 has better aosp support.

I prefer the galaxy nexus. . .
I don't now why , but i like it rotfl
It's funny, I'm having the same issue with T-Mobile. I have a Note 2, but I love the nexus phones for development. The GNex has always been my favorite phone, but I have a Nexus 4 sitting at home with the option to buy. I know the hardware on the Galaxy Nexus is aging at best, but damnit I love this phone! I think in the end I will keep the Galaxy Nexus but the geek in me is fighting me all the way.

well, for dev purposes, it would be best to get the N4, since it has all the binaries needed to build, right now. It's unclear if the Gnex will get the remaining, missing binaries.
that said, i love my gnex (still going strong, no hw issues whatsoever)
I love galaxy nexus because it has a lot of mod, ROM and Kernel! The galaxy nexus is very fluid and it hasn't lag! I raccomandet it!
Save your money and go with the Galaxy Nexus if you can get it for under $200 US.
The only real reason I see to get a Nexus 4 is if you want the higher specs and intend to use it for more than just development purposes. Other than that there is no big benefit of having a N4 over the GN aside from the hardware.
Even if google intends to discontinue the maguro/toro before android 5.0, it will still be developed to work with 5.x down the line because of just the way the development community works. However, I think the maguro line will be more successful down the future since it's the GSM variant, as the toro is just limited to a smaller faction of primarily Verizon/USA users.
If you donĀ“t play games on your phone, I think you can buy Galaxy Nexus.
I already have the GN8 wifi and want to get the AT&T LTE verison. I can live without root if I can install 4.2.2. Is 4.2.2 available for AT&T GN8? I only see the GT-N5120 and the device number is different for the AT&T model.

If it's available, I haven't seen it yet. We're at the mercy of AT&T pushing it sadly. Has Samsung officially released it?

Like me. I'm using the international NON LTE version. The N5100 on straight talk a AT&T MVNO. Everything works and get between 300kb/s-800kb/s.
Best Phone I have ever bought. I love the big screen.
I'm new to the note 4 scene.. Are yall saying that 5.0.1 can't be rooted because it's new and we just have to wait for a developer to crack it? Or the Verizon Note for is just uncrackable???
Sorry to say that root for the Verizon Retail Note 4 looks like a lost cause. It is still a great phone but looking more and more un-rootable.
I purchased a Galaxy note 8 from Verizon years ago. After being with Verizon for a year I switched to TMobile to save some money and I brought my Verizon note 8 with me. I used the note 8 on TMobile for another year then I switched back to Verizon and got the pixel 4xl. I sold my old note 8 to a friend who was using straight talk as his carrier. The TMobile boot screen still pops up and he still get messages from T-Mobile and he doesn't have data when he is talking on the phone. Is there a way to fix this? The phone is unlocked and paid off. TMobile says they don't know how to get their stuff off the phone. Any help is much appreciated.
