I'm not sure if I can ask this. But I'm getting a new phone within the next two weeks, I know I need to be on stock my Odin the stock tar from sammobile. My question to all of you XDA members are, in your opinion, what phone do you think I should get. I like a phone that looks and operates good but not with overwhelming things. And a phone that if I root, it won't be as hard a process like with Knox. Any suggestions?

Being that we are all GS4 users most likely we will recommend another S4. This phone is easy to root and manage as long as you read and ask questions before you start flashing.

If it was me I'd get another s4 or an s5.
The only tricky bit is there is no development for the s5.
One would consider stuff like the new HTC phones (m8, etc), but they just aren't on the same level as the Samsung flagships.
I'm in a similar boat. My sweetie has my old Hercules. I'd like to give her my s4 and get an s5, but it would be a downgrade. No insane kit kat. No wicked. No cyanogen.
Can't do it.
So if my phone broke I'd get another s4.

That's one tough mofo, I'm on a 6 month backorder list waiting for this gem. Hope to get it before I have to jump to S5.

Hey everyone, so I jumped to the HTC m8 and I hated it! Paid the restocking fee and got the note 3 again and my phone lags really bad. I have to either restart my phone or turn the screen off and on. I have until Tuesday before my 14 days are up and was wondering if rooting it and flashing a rom would fix the lag or should I exchange it?
Edit. Sorry I meant to post this in the Q&A section.

Rooting it and installing a custom rom/kernel always helps as you can debloat whatever apps you don't use with titanium backup pro, root explorer, trickster mod etc. I don't see how even with 3gb ram this phone lags, but not every phone is the same I suppose.

When I had my first note 3 I rooted that thing as soon as I bought it! I've been holding off with this phone just in case something was wrong with it. I ended up doing a factory reset and everything seems fine now. I'm wondering if an app or game wasn't playing nice with my phone.

So I think I figured out what's wrong with my phone. I was looking online and read that some people were having the same problem I am. Turns out it was the sd card. I took my sd card out and have been playing with my phone for the past hour now with no freezing!

Glad you sorted it, what brand and class was it? I've had lower class cards make my LG G2X & E4GT lag before.

I spoke too soon.... I had the sd card out all day and when I was browsing the Web my phone became unresponsive and I had to turn the screen off and on at least 5 times until I could actually use it. looks like I'll be going to t-mobile to exchange it before my 14 days are up.

I have a Nexus 7 2013 and my cousin told me to root it. What is the advantage if I root it? And is it worth it?

Perform a Google search on benefits of rooting and you'll have your answer as there are a large number of threads with the same question.
Should you root? That's subjective as there isn't a right or wrong answer. It's ultimately up to you.

Most people will say yes, but that's not going to help you at all. Look up what it allows them decide if it's something you need.
If I told you to jump off a bridge, would you?
I'm only rooted for adfree. Other than that I have no need for it. Roots getting less and less important with each new android version especially Lollipop.
Long story short, I got curious about the note 4 and traded in my M8 for it. It's only been 24 hrs and all I call say is that it's not a HTC. I'm really hoping that it grows on me.

Is it too late to get your M8 back?
Yeah its too late

I have had my Note 4 for about a week now, came from the M8. I truly love the M8, but I find the only thing I really miss is the front facing speakers. One of the main reasons I switched was for the Samsung VR. I have no regrets. I still have the M8, I want to see Lollipop on it before I sell it.
One thing I miss about the M8 is how it did it was fast. I don't know if if it's how touch wiz is designed to work, but it is kinda slow. Opening an app takes noticeably more time than the HTC. we'll see what happens, I can do another early upgrade in 4 or 5 months

Wow, why in the world would you do that??? You definitely got robbed for.. Why didn't you review the device at at T-mobile first?? Jesus Christ!!! Why would you betray us bro!! What the F!!! We have a bigger development section.. You literally just gave the finger to all devs and left us to rot thinking you would have the win with the latest device... But you didn't!! Well served karma!![emoji56] [emoji106]
Ok I have a sprint htc one m8 on lollipop. Im leaving sprint and would like to know if the phone will work on any other us carriers with a unlock, or using sunshine. Xda search keeps giving me really old information. I know my way around android and root. Just looking for some solid answers. I'm taking my nexus 6 to project fi and would like to take the m8 as well.
Thanks
