I'm currently in the process of returning my phone to stock. XperiFirm shows all the different CDAs available for my model, but I'm not sure which one to install. My phone came with the Vietnamese CDA installed, but I'd like one as vanilla as possible. I tried the Store Front one, but this one causes a demo to play on the screen after some time. I'm currently in the process of downloading the Promoter one to try that, but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in the minute differences? Thanks for any info!

Ok here goes...I have a C Spire , (used to be Cellular South) CDMA, stock 2.3.3 OS, Xperia Play, rooted with the UnLock Root tool, CWM installed with CWM Installer from the market, and bootloader is still locked. Well Thursday (5/31) I went to use my phone and I notice the touch screen was unresponsive. I proceeded to reboot it (touch worked long enough to press the reboot option) hoping it would help, it reboot fine. I let it finish loading and tried to unlock it, touch screen unresponsive again so this time I pulled the battery and after it loaded all the way up it worked fine. Well it work flawlessly until last night. I took it out of my pocket and noticed the screen was unresponsive again. BTW at this time I was in town away from my computer. I tried the method I did before but no luck. I keep fooling with it all night. Sometimes it would work if I took out the memory card, sometimes it would work with back cover off, sometimes it would work if both were out/off or sometimes if both were in/on, sometimes after a battery pull, and sometimes not. (during this time I accidentally broke my SD card, the little lip on the end broke off) It was not consistent results. Finally it stopped working all together. I used the gamepad to navigate to the settings to try and factory reset it but I could not due to the fact you have to touch the screen to confirm it. So I got an awesome idea to get it in to CWM recovery to factory wipe it. I wiped EVERYTHING, every option, which might be where I messed up. Now it won't load past the SE logo. When I got home I tried everything. I have tried the PC Companion through the repair my phone option, it says no updates and it has the latest software. Then I tried the Update Service, it says the same thing. I am at a total loss. I read on here about the Flashtool. I downloaded it and updated it and gave it a try but I have no clue how to use it. Everything I try ends in "Error flashing. Aborted." Please help me!!!!!!!!!
P.S If you need anymore info I will be happy to provide it if I can. I JUST WANT MY PLAY BACK!!!
Try flashing the stock Sony firmware with flashtool. That should get the phone up and running again.
As far as the screen goes, it sounds like a dodgy digitiser. You can replace it yourself but I havent a clue how much it costs.

Link to a digitzer for the Play on Amazon for you as well
I tried to flash the stock firmware with Flashtool but I have no clue how to work it. I am taking it to C Spire right now. Hopefully they will just give me a new one.
Well C Spire tested it and the conclusion was that it had a manufacture malfunction. They said that they would give me a new one but all the store in our area was out of them. They said that they would give me another kind of phone to replace it but all the ones they named off was lower end phones, even the representative admitted to that. So she told me to just go on their website and complete a warranty claim form and they would ship me a new play within a few days. I filled out the necessary forms and I am now waiting on my new Play. Thanks for the help.
Just out of curiosity, why do you hate c spire? you do know it was just a name change, right?
Yeah they say that crap but they are lying!!! Their service used to be the best around, never found a dead zone any where but now that they "just changed the name" their service sucks and they are cheating their LOYAL customers out of their money and treating them like crap!!! C Spire does not care for their customers!!!! In some areas like mine C Spire is our only option other then crappy prepaid phone which I am seriously starting to consider! THAT IS WHY I HATE THEM AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE! Have a look at their Facebook page and you will see how many of their customers they have P-ed off!
Hi all,
I’ve just bought a 16GB 8.4 wifi model from Computer Exchange.
It’s come in a box with the initial start-up screen ask for log-in details, wifi password etc. I always make a point of skipping through this and then factory resetting the tablet just in case I spot anything odd.
This time, after the Android robot finishing with the reset, I saw an icon with a monkey’s face, and the message ‘Installing Applications’ before the tablet booted up to the normal initial set-up. Looking through the apps, this seems to be a Swiss app called ‘Teleboy’.
Obviously I found that rather odd. Doing some Googling – I think it might be an app that comes with Swiss Samsung tablets.
Is there any way to check nothing else odd is in there, before I stick all my passwords into it?

I believe it has a different country firmware or some sort though I can't be sure. I'm on the USA firmware and I haven't seen that on my T800 model. Can you go into settings -> general -> about device and tell me your build number etc. Thanks!

Looks like they included it in newer firmwares. I believe you have a different firmware from a different country. Different countries have different apps bundled in your device. I did some research about the teleboy app and it looks like an app for Samsung tvs. I believe you should be fine and if you want, you can disable it to be extra safe.
Here's where I looked at regarding teleboy. http://www.samsung.com/ch/smarthub/apps/app-03.html
It's a TV app in which Samsung included but probably isn't needed if you don't need it. Hope this helps!

Terrific - thanks for your help.
I'm running stock AT&T 4.0.4 ROM, rooted with CWM. Google Play Services just updated to version 9.2.56 (034-124593566), and it's sucking my battery dry and making the phone run hot. I have a spare phone and brought it online, and the same thing happened as soon as Google Play Services updated. It is running anywhere from 50% to 80% of my battery when the screen is below 10%. Yep, it's using more than 10x what the screen requires. Battery that used to last 18 hours now lasts 2 to 3. Others have posted similar comments in the Play Store (like that's going to do any good). Common theme is it's older OSes.
I have tried disabling everything and it doesn't do any good. Too many things break if Google Play Services is removed. Going back to an old version is futile -- it self-updates within minutes. I tried GServiceFix and it works for few minutes, then the usage creeps up again.
I sent Google an email, but I expect nothing less than the run-around. So, I turn to XDA Developers.
First, is anyone else here still running stock, and did the same thing happen to you? How about on other ROMs (please specify)? Did you find a fix?
Assuming Google will do little to help, I need to do something to make my phone work right. So if there is a ROM where this is not a problem, I guess it's time to jump in. Problem is, some of the links in this forum are broken. I've found (or already had) most of what I think I need except a version or EFS Professional that works on our phone. I can find no working links to an older version that will do the job. I do have a Nandroid backup (also stored on my NAS), which I believe can restore the EFS, but I'd like to get just the EFS in case I need to load it to the system after flashing. None of the tools available in the Play Store seem to work on the Glide -- I end up with an empty backup directory.
My plan, assuming there is a Jellybean ROM without this issue, is to flash twrp-2.8.4-flashable.zip, since I understand TWRP is required for JB, then do another Nandroid backup with it, then flash whichever ROM is suggested to get over this. I've looked at Bubor's CM10.2, and it looks like it will fill my needs unless it also suffers this problem. If there is a reason I should update the Kernel, please let me know. I have not seen anything that makes me believe I need to.
Man, I wish one of the manufacturers would come out with a similarly sized new phone with a slide-out keyboard and AT&T compatible. I'd gladly upgrade, but there is nothing out there that meets my needs. Samsung S5 mini with slider -- I'm in.
Hi,
its one year later...
I'm with the same problem. Do you still have a solution?
Other ROMs have issues with camera and BT...

I just got a new xperia play from hong kong. Its a R800A and its connected to koodo. The only issue is the fact that I can go on the browser but almost every site is blocked/cannot be connected. This is the same situation with every other internet app especially the preinstalled ones like Market. No matter what I do it says something like "Cannot Connect to Servers, Please try again later" It has me so upset and no matter where I go on the internet there is not a single person who can help so I'm making this report and hoping someone can help me.
To speed things up I live in Canada and I can call and text without issue. But when I go to the internet I can't do anything.
Thank you for reading if you have any information on what i can do or what will help please reply and help me
I just bought a used R800X and was wondering the same thing - Wifi doesn't work anywhere except for the stock browser. After some searching apparently Google Play Services support for Android versions under 4.0 was killed off earlier this year.
So if your Xplay is still on 2.3, you won't be able to use the Market or pretty much any app that uses Google Services. You can still sideload apps that you've backed up with Titanium on another device or just install some APKs from the net. If you really can't live without Google Services look into getting a custom ROM based on 4.0+.
My R800X has some dumb issues in regards to the bootloader so ROMs are pretty much out of the question for me, but I was still able to get it rooted and install a bunch of emulators. Hopefully you have better luck. Cheers mate!

Thank you! thankfully I'm bit of a nerd so I went online and force updated the app store to the latest version and now I can get basic apps. Down side is that it keeps breaking and crashing every few minutes so I'm going to uninstall most of the unnecessary apps and see if that will help fix most of the issues with crashing. Also the fact that most of them are always running in the background doesn't help xD.
I also have planes to overclock using my sd card. like take some of the memory to boost my phones power
I had a bit of the same but I managed to get it rooted and my bootloader is unlocked. Thing is most links (like it has been said) has been killed off. But I need a custom rom for the phone...it’s getting me really mad. Suggestions? Help? Please?
For custom ROMs, it's gonna be a crapshoot going through all of the threads and looking for links that are still hosted online somewhere. /u/ TheNameBrand had some success with installing CM9 recently, but ran into wifi issues or something. Here's the link if you're still interested: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024782
If you end up sticking with stock and don't have the Market/Play Store running, you can download the latest 2.3 compatible version of the Play Store here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...-2-02-release/
A few days ago Xfinity Mobile (or Samsung? I'm unsure) started pushing OTA update G965USQU7DTA5 (One UI 2 upgrade with Android 10).
I successfully updated mine SGS-9 but got stuck on wife's SGS-9 Probably, first attempt of download on this phone was interrupted (my wife went to store, and download was paused 'cause of no WiFi). But after that it's always stopped on 25% and saying "Couldn't download update: Unable to update the software. A network or server error occurred. Try later again". It's a bug in buggy Samsung software updater, I'm 100% positive, but how to fix that stuff without resetting the phone?
Phone is NOT rooted or unlocked; I googled for "offline update" instructions for stock, locked phones but can't find good, clear instructions.
Any suggestions, guys?
P.S. I've never done phone reset on SGS-9, how it works? Is it quick and safe enough? My wife's phone don't have sideloaded and/or pirated apps, everything by original, Google- & Samsung way.
Update: I resolved my issue by updating phone from PC, using Samsung's "Smart Switch" application - everything went smooth and easy.
P.S. Big thanks to this guide: https://thedroidguy.com/how-to-fix-...not-update-to-latest-software-version-1097987
Update 2: My question received no answers, even no attention but I still believe in people (generally)
So, after update to Android 10 on SGS9, my wife found what the new camera app is kinda downgrade: she doesn't likes new video mode full screen chooser (instead of "scroller") and some other small things. By the way, I clearly understood her: for example, on her SGS9 (updated via PC) video has, by default, bigger zoom than mine SGS9! It's kinda ridiculous but I understand, some parts of the software was written by Korean guys
My question is: could you provide some tips how to install stock camera app from the previous firmware (Android 9), without flashing back old firmware (I suspect what Sam-damn-sung and X****&nity will not support Android 9 anymore)?
Thank you!
P.S. I know how the google search works; I know even more - how xda-dev search works too but I can't find exact answer to my question, sorry!

I think it's more no one has xfinity. I was one of the few and first to have xfinity when I got my s8. xfinity is a weird setup compared to most phones. I had to ditch em when they charged me like 3 or 4 times in one month, it took me almost 4 months to get a refund.
With root you might be able to get the old camera working possibly. Or gcam I'm no developer so I wouldnt know the exacts. And I still run my xfinity s8 ???
