Got my new HOX in the mail on Friday, played with it all weekend long. I'm coming from a Galaxy S2 to a Galaxy Note to finally the HOX.
First off, the phone design is gorgeous. Build quality is fantastic, it really blows the Samsung's away.
I also much prefer the display in the HOX over the unnatural pentile super amoled displays in the Samsung's. The HOX display reminds me of my other favorite phone display, my LG G2x. Just much higher resolution.
The Camera on the HOX is fast, but quality is lacking a lot compared to the Samsung's. I find the Samsung's to take much better pictures on average in all lighting conditions.
I also have read some reviews claiming the HOX to be the fastest Android experience they had. I find that hard to believe, there is lag in Sense, in many places, the browser isn't fluid either. Galaxy S2 and Note (particularly the S2)
had no lag whatsoever and the browser was fluid like an iPhone. For example, open a page with flash content, the HOX does okay, but stutters when you pan and zoom around the page. The S2 is fluid no matter what's displayed on the browser. Like butter smooth, even playing full flash content and videos. Maybe it's because Adobe flash hasn't been quite optimized for ICS yet? Flash content sucked on a customer's Galaxy Nexus I played with also.
I've literally had every recent Android Super-phone in my possession, my company specializes in phone repair, the S2 is definitely the smoothest android experience.
Another thing I was excited about was the LED notification, that was one thing I missed dearly when I sold my Droid X and HTC Amaze. Too bad it doesn't always work, sometimes it works great. Sometimes I get no notification and I unlock the phone to see a missed call and email. What the heck?
Another deal breaker is the phone will connect to my car's built in Bluetooth audio streaming, but the next time I get in, Bluetooth will not automatically reconnect. Even pressing the reconnect button on the navigation screen, it won't reconnect. I have to go through the whole Bluetooth setup process again. I have the settings in my car to reconnect every time I get in but it just doesn't. Also when it connects, there is no song title or any info on the screen. The S2 and Note works flawless in Bluetooth audio streaming, always connects when I get in my car automatically. Always displays the song list, title, artist etc. on screen. Boo... I have to connect the phone through my car's USB port now.
One last issue is Wifi, it will disconnect overnight and will not wake up. I noticed I didn't get any emails in the morning, turns out Wifi disconnected itself and would not wake up. I turned off wifi, turned it back on manually and then all my emails came at once. That sucked. Oh, and under wifi sleep policy I have it always on, and the check under best wifi performance is checked. I am also on the newest firmware 1.28.401 for my phone.
After a few days of use, I'm not sure I will keep it. I can't wait to get my hands on a Galaxy S3. I've had really good experiences with the Galaxy line so far running the Exynos processors. I just pray to the Galaxy Gods they put in an LED notification, that will completely seal the deal!

Some folks took pictures using another camera app and they appeared much more natural and were better exposed. That points to s/w potentially improving the One X down the road. There are some threads discussing camera performance.

I've come from a i9100 also. Sense is brutally fast using the same 75 apps I was using previously. As is the browser. Was yours that way out of the box or after you added apps? It's it's the former you may have bad h/w.

Could be bad h/w or, again, a rogue app. The intensity of the light seems to vary by device based on where beneath the speaker grate it's placed but other than that they've all seemed consistent.

I use a lot of BT. No issues to report. I have a late model Infiniti (Nissan) with factory nav and have no issues with connections, A2DP, address book sync, or the like. The One X uses BT 4.0 which is supposedly backward compatible but perhaps that's your issue. Warning though, the One X doesn't support BT dialing out of the box as the Voice Dialer APK wasn't included. I've tried other ICS APK's and they fail. Vlingo's the only solution I've found that works.
One last issue is Wifi, it will disconnect overnight and will not wake up.

I've had no issues but there have been a few reports. Could be your device with a h/w issue or just not liking your brand of router (I'm using a NetGear). The SGS2 hated D-Link.

To this day, no android phone is as smooth as the Galaxy S2 there is no denying that. It may not be the fastest anymore, but it is buttery smooth and in the browser I believe its actually smoother than the iphone. The HOX is a beast with its specs but it does lag that is a fact that almost everyone as reported including official reviewer.

Have you seen vids showing the stuttering? I'd like to see them. I'm as anal retentive as anyone on XDA and I haven't seen any (by my definition) stuttering. Maybe my standards are too low. After two weeks of use I'd say the One X is faster than my ex-i9100 in every possible way. Only downsides are battery life and lack of removable storage.

I have to agree with you on the S2, it is nearly the pinnacle of Android phones to date. However, I'm very confident HTC will be providing updates to the One X to smooth things out.
have to agree with all of you..my good old s2 was the best phone i had so far and i would even say it is better than my old iphone 4 i had. Heck some areas it is better than my One X at the mo. But i love my new baby and already got few accessories for it and will be buying more in the future.. I just love this phone. But i can understand the OP finding it hard to adjust after coming from the S2..All i will say is you probably have a faulty phone exchange it and then just give it time and development will pick up once kernel sources are released..this phone has huge potential and will be in the top 3 biggest phones of the year
Don't have ANY of your issues, hmm weird, usually I find myself struggling with the same problems like everyone else..mine is just using battery like a crazy mofo, connect through wi-fi on here and just scroll through few topics, battery goes out like 5%, is that normal? my ram usage is around 630MB+, screen kinda analogly flickers sometimes (that stopped in the last few days, knock on wood uf), stock internet browser crashes, put Chrome Beta in now so hopefully this will be ok...anyone else having those RAM usage numbers? Cached processes also, using juice like crazy :S
The stock sense browser does jutter sometimes but in the chrome browser I see no lag at all. Also the S2 wasn't as smooth as the 4S in my opinion but it was still a very good phone I just missed sense.
I don't know if you can turn this off but at the store I played with the One XL. Whan you zoom into the browser and pan around there is a split second when it reflows the text and re-refreshes the page. I turned off text wrap but it didn't stop. It was totally annoying. How do you guys turn that off? Or do you just use a different browser?

No denying sense won't be as smooth as a skin less heavy on stock android but the features it brings over tw is a lot more beneficial imo. Don't worry soon enough there will be vanilla Android roms I guess.

I think the lag on hox on browser could be the text wrap. I wouldn't mind a little lag so it will put the text in place when I zoom in. Rather then having to scroll all over the place.

Correct. Turn off text wrap and it'll be butter smooth.
It's a common htc thing. A lot of htc users always recommend to turn text wrap off

So this is my first foray into the Android world, coming from an iPhone 4 that I liked but have been bored with for quite some time.
First impressions are mostly positive. The phone is obviously built well and sits in the hand fine despite its large size. The screen is great - more than enough brightness, extremely crisp text and great colors. The thing is extremely fast - pretty much no lag that I can find, even when I turn on ECO mode. I just got it this afternoon and used it with the charge it had from the box, so I can't comment fully on battery life yet. But it seems to be power hungry so far, though that was doing a lot of initial syncing and keeping the screen on a good bit.
Camera, as several reviews said, is average at best.
If you have any questions about it, let me know and I'll give my findings. I do have a couple of issues, though:
1. The phone gets quite warm, even after the mystery update. And I'm talking about just surfing the net and downloading apps - no games or anything intensive at all. If you try to turn the display up past 80 or 90%, you get an alert saying "Unable to further brighten due to temperature increase. Try again later." While it's plenty bright at 50%, this is completely unacceptable. If they don't do something about that quickly, I'm probably returning it.
2. I can't find a way to disable LTE. I'm getting 25-30mbit down here in north Atlanta, but I won't need that a lot of the time. I'd prefer to put it on HSPA+ to save battery (and, presumably, keep the thing cool.)
3. Voice Dial stinks. It "gets" what I'm asking for through my Motorola Roadster 2 speakerphone about 20% of the time. This worked 90% of the time with my iPhone. Not sure if there's a better dialer, or if this will improve with Jelly Bean.
Any input appreciated. I'll probably root it tonight or tomorrow, so if anyone needs anything (safe) for bootloader purposes just let me know.

Thanks for the update. I was planning on picking one up tomorrow, but there seems to be more overwhelming negatives than positives from those that got theirs early. I think Google may have really dropped the ball on anointing LG as their official hardware vendor for the Nexus 4. There seems to be widespread overheating issues with the Nexus 4 which shares the exact same hardware as the Optimus G, sans LTE of course. Cause for concern of the reliability of the internal components as well as the glass back having cracked in 2 review units is pretty disheartening, think I'm going to hold off for now.
1. OG has auto bright limit. Proportionately with temp, phone apply bright limit. It is not a hardware trouble.
If your phone is too hot, return it.
2. Try *147359# at dial. It may show popup menu.
So far no problems, one thing is annoying - notification LED is on the power button, can't really see it, also doesn't stay on, just blinks once, kinda dumb.
So I really am liking this phone. Its not perfect, but its incredibly fast, has a great screen, and has some good customization possibilities.
Going to try Eco mode tomorrow to see how it performs and compare battery life. Seen some reviews that say it nearly doubles battery life, which would make it quite good.
The code mentioned above gave me an error, so I'm still looking for a way to turn off 4G.
As for the heat, I got that message in the parking lot at after I got it and again when it was plugged in, but its cool now on the couch.

I've had no issues with the temp on mine as of now. But then again I set my brightness at 63%. My lite blinks more then once but it only blinks I think like every 30 seconds or so. I'm still watching that I could be wrong. Going to to a you tube review on this tomorrow. I will post it here and on the at&t optimus g forum as well. So far I'm loving this phone.

I just switched from iphone 4 to this too and I gotta say it feels ridiculous looking at how small the iphone 4 screen is now after getting used to this.
For me the biggest complaints are the camera. I really don't like the quality and the other is the width. I can't get used to holding it. This is probably just a personal problem but it's feels too wide for me.
Other than that it's a great phone. Very fast sans project butter.

Back on the heat thing. For whatever reason, I haven't had any more heat problems since the first couple of days. No issues.

Further overall impression after several days of use:
1. Battery life is so-so. Getting through a whole day is a 50/50 proposition, which is a significant drop from my old iPhone 4.
2. Camera, as mentioned, is mediocre.
3. Speed is still great.
4. Screen is still great.
5. Sound is pretty good, but not as good as iPhone 4. Signal from the headphone jack is a bit quieter than i4.
6. Internal speaker is kind of tinny and weak.
7. Voice calls over ear piece are plenty loud and sound good.
I really want to like this phone, but I'm coming up with some limitations. We'll see what happens with the development, which could help #1 and that's my biggest concern.

On the heat issue, based on my experience with my DInc...
Charging really heats the battery, so doing anything will lead towards overheating.
Holding it in your hand (the more skin contact the worse) or laying it on it's back (worse on a soft surface) prevents heat from escaping.
Releasing heat (IMO) is best done screen down, propped up against something, so that the phone is barely touching any surface. (Alternatively, lay it screen up on a cold hard surface, and move it periodically... contradicting my previous point.)
I'm itching to upgrade, but I'm waiting to see what's what. The LGOG is the current point of reference for all other droids out there. So I'm really hoping to hear many good things (esp. root and unlocked bootloader). But I also really want to hear all of the nitpicking details, because I expect "perfection" from everything. [OT] Yes, I am disappointed a lot of the time. After all, I'm using Microsoft at work and home. [/OT]
For the LED thing, do any market apps work on this?

After a week
After owning this phone for about a week and using the Note 2, Galaxy s3, and the One X+ for a bit, I think this is the best phone out there as far as fluidity goes, and its not even on jelly bean. I wish I can rip off the camera on One X+ and glue it on the optimus G but oh well.
If you're holding out because its not perfect, you're right its not. But you'll be hard pressed to find a phone besting this in the 4.7" form factor for a while. Now if you want to go to a phablet, I would suggest you to try the Note 2 for a bit, but you have to make sure you don't wear skinny jeans, have big hands, are proud of yourself (people look at you when you hold it up to your head) or not scared of face cancer (it warms up your face like nothing when talking for a while). But it's a real great phone, I wish there was a Note 2 mini with the same specs.
Of course, there is the Nexus 4, which I got to play with once, for like 5 minutes, and that was awesome. Sadly, you know all about what it's missing, and personally, I thought that between Jelly Bean 4.2 and no microD or LTE, I would go sans Jelly Bean 4.2. I can live with Jelly bean 4.1.
I dropped my screen brightness about 5% each day till i got used to it and now my optimus G lasts longer and I have no problem looking at a < 40% screen brightness indoors. =/ It helps with the heat.. actually I don't feel much heat anymore either and I still dont use the eco mode. It would be nice if it could automatically use eco for less intensive things and then switch to full for games, but it seems to just stay at eco the whole time.
Hope this helps anyone being on the fence. Oh and I use atnt

They aren't identical. From an operation perspective they have different OS and different radio.
Seems like JB for phones isn't "fully baked" (or at least not for these LG devices). Anandtech got better performance out of the N4, when they chilled it in the freezer 1st.

True,what I really meant was same processor/ram, however much more to the phone. I want a phone today, however the N4 looks better in some ways the LGOG in more. If I wasn't sick i would be at AT&T or Best buy right now

I'm looking to get a new phone. Currently I have a Moto X play and was wondering if the 5X is a good upgrade for me.
What I want from the 5X is speed, decent battery life(4 hours SOT) and good development support.
Can any 5X owners help me out?
I have never even played with Moto X play, but I can assure you that 5x is blazing fast in daily stuff and there is no problem at all with reaching above 4h SOT ( at least for me ). You have tons of custom roms, kernels and other things to play with, even if you don't want to go that far, you receive monthly security updates.
What about usb otg support?
There's no problem with it, everything works as it should. It may vary on your cable of course.
There isn't anything wrong with my X play, in fact I like it quite a bit. It has awesome battery life and nice features but limited development.
I have a nexus 7 tablet but have never had a nexus phone. I noticed that nexuses get all the good mods and guides so that's the main reason I want to get one.

The battery life will be a downgrade as the X Play has a massive battery and lower powered SoC. However I still find it adequate for 1-2 day battery life with 3-6 hours SoT depending on usage. The audio speaker probably isn't much better either.
Everything else should be a noticeable improvement, specifically the finger print reader, camera, and custom software.
If you are used to the size and weight of the X Play, could you stretch to the cost of the 6P? I have a 5X and mostly I like it but the only thing stopping me going for the 6P was the size. The 6P would seem a massive step up from the Moto where the 5X will be a baby one.

I had a 6p and it blew away my 5x. I had an accident with my 6p and ended up getting a 5x. Got it super cheap. I like the build quality of the 5x better as 6p is fragile and I work alot outside. I wish we had the CPU and ram the 6p has this phone would be awesome!! Don't get me wrong i love my 5x but liked my 6p more because of the 8 core and the larger ram. Looking forward to next Nexiis. ? @ op: I'd wait a few more months and see what's coming. I bet it will be great, always is. ?

At this point in the year I would wait until the fall and see what the new Nexus phones will be. As soon as the 2016 Nexus phones are released I'm getting rid of my 5X. It's okay but no where near a keeper for me. The 6P was light-years ahead of it but I had to replace my 6P multiple times because of quality defects.

Tbh, if you already own a Moto X Play then the N5x is no upgrade that's worth the money.
I'd suggest waiting for the next mid-range Nexus or a deal on a current flagship (LG G5 is undergoing serious price correction, at least here in Germany), if you can stretch your budget a bit.
My boss has a 6P and I played around with it a bit. It's a dam good phone but it's way too big. I find X play a bit awkward to use with one hand as well that's why I was thinking a smaller phone. The 5X is around the size of my beloved Moto G.
I realy want a nexus again if for nothing else than the development. I guess I'll wait for the new ones and make my mind up then.

I'm tempted by the 6p only because of it being a Nexus device. But honestly after getting a 32gb 5x for 200. The 6p not worth it in my honest opinion. Now if you want the 6p like feel and cheaper price tag try the honor 5x. Basically same phone(of course internals are better on 6p) but has development and will continue to grow and fast because of honor release sources like they promised. Now that would be a upgrade only because the honor 5x is basically the cheap 6p fingerprint scanner, unlocked bootloader, root, custom Roms. If not then unless you can sell your x play and get a good deal on the n5x then do it.

I dont sell my phones, I keep them and use them from time to time. Yeah the 6P is too big to use in my opinion.
Honor isn't available in my country and its a pain to import. Nexus devices are easily obtained from Orange

If you experience slow downs/lag and it's not due to temperature throttling (which happens on all phones at some point, in the end it's a closed box with no cooling, threshold is set pretty low on N5x) you could test for an unoptimised app running in the background (e.g. I found Apple Music beta to be a culprit), otherwise it could a brief moment where the phone clears some ram.
Battery life and smoothness of the system is something I wouldn't list as cons from my experience with this device.

Try Butterfly Interactive tweak on Phasma kernel and a custom rom. Enjoy 8-9 hours of screen on time like me while getting decently low temperature of 34 C overall. It's also incredibly smooth and the ram never exceeds 1 GB. Never had a crash with apps. Everything works flawlesly here, maybe you don't know how to handle your phone, mate.

Sounds like a bad app. My camera app has never crashed, no extreme lag even when my device gets super hot doing GPS navigation in the sun.
The next batch of Nexus phones are about 5 months away.
When I first got my 5X I loved it. But I've had it a month and the shine is definitely off the apple now. Here's what I've learned:
1) as a computer-type device, the 5X is great. It's quick, the screen is great, no bloatware. That's all good.
2) its battery life isn't the greatest, but it is good enough (having come from Droid MAXX and Droid RAZR MAXX, I have big battery expectations)
3) as a phone, the 5X sucks. The call quality is terrible. It is worse than I remember OLD cell phones 20 years ago being - conversations drop words and are garbled and you're constantly asking the person on the other end to repeat themselves. The volume to the ear piece when on regular calls is too quiet, even when set to maximum. On speakerphone, it is barely audible if there is any noise in your environment at all (like a fan, a tv, or other people talking).
So, while at its core, the 5X is a nice mobile computing device, it is a poor phone at best.
I get call quality equal to landline whenever the reception is good. I agree volume using the speaker for calls is too low (or sounds like a robot if you have to turn it all the way up), earpiece volume is alright.
Experiences on this device seem to vary a lot. Many faulty handsets.

The call quality is terrible, i find people are ALWAYS telling me they cannot hear me, i have to practically yell it to it
So I chose the pixel xl as my Note 7 replacement and although it's not a bad phone, honestly it's not nearly as good as the s7 edge or even the note 5 ( I haven't owned only Samsung phones those are just my last two).
I thought Google assistant (the main reason I chose this phone) was supposed to be a big deal but is there really any major difference than using "OK Google" on any other android phone? Also, no wireless charging or microsd slot? Seriously, what makes this phone worth the sticker price?

I think your perspective is right on. If your coming from a 3 year old phone, this phone is mind blowing. If your coming from a premium Samsung or iPhone, its meh at best. I upgrade every year and to me its just a small iteration. My Nexus 6 is still my favorite phone. The Pixel is a $500 phone.
My thoughts exactly. No micro SD slot (just to get user to store everything on googles cloud) no wireless chrging(though I give them credit for the 15 minute plug in giving 7 hours of use. The phone is efficient. I've gotten almost 5 hours of screen time with heavy use. The call quality seems to be better than Samsung. HD calls on verizon sound really good on my end and others have stated this is the clearest I've sounded to them in a while(maybe the design using glass at the top of the back for better antenna reception really does matter). I like googles launcher. But this phone starves for faetures like "Hidden folder" on the note 7, good lock thru galaxy apps, notification light blinks so slow i can unlock the phone before the light flashes. No always on screen. From the front the phone feels like i'm holding a galaxy S4. The chin is huge for no reason. 5.5 in screen is no longer "XL". Should make a 6 inch screen for the XL. CAmera is great. No numbered notifications(a little number in a bubble showing how many new texts or calls) no batter percentage option. Finger print sensor on the back is easier to use and it's fast. I guess all the fuss is about google assistant. To me it's not qite a flagship but lets remember. Google(like all other phone companies) need to you to give this 1 up when the next one drops. So guarantee the next one has wireless charging and or a SD slot. Just my opinion.

Thank you! I really don't think it's a bad phone but the price and the hype is just crazy! It seriously feels cheap to me. I know it's all metal but because of the different textures on the back it feels like plastic unless it's cold. It's not even water resistant and the top and bottom bezels are way too big to look like a phone that costs this much.
If Samsung or apple came out with this phone they'd be in serious trouble but Google does it and it's some kind of revolution? The assistant isn't going to be even close to useful until it's available in the Play store for everyone. It's just missing so much that phones released 6 months ago costing $100-$200 less already have.
I was really excited for this phone after the note 7 thing and I'm just really disappointed. I'm keeping my note 7, fire hazard or not.
Google's phones will never, ever, ever include an SD card slot, ever again. This will always be a choice you have to make with Google, because they religiously believe in the cloud. I just tell people to get a Moto if they want a Nexus-like with SD card support. However, the unlimited photos and videos at full quality for free offered with the Pixel is amazing.
As for wireless charging, now that I have quick chargers everywhere I stopped using wireless charging with my Nexus 6 months ago. It's just sooooo sssllllooowwwwww. And the Pixel charges quite quickly, even on non-QC chargers. For instance, it seems to be sinking quite a bit of current from my powered hub, which just supplies 5V but can source about 3A per port. It can basically max out any charger that's not that stupid OnePlus proprietary one. Not a big deal.
I even like the bezels, because they give you a place to put your hands when holding it in landscape.
I find the suggestion that they should have released another 6" behemoth interesting, because I remember when the N6 was launched there was a lot of grousing that there were no small flagships left. The common refrain was 2 models, one 5.5" and one 5". As someone who loved the Nexus 6 in basically every respect, it's just a tiny bit too big. I am a 6' tall person with normal hands for that height, and I can't reach nearly the whole screen with one hand. It's not a one handed device, at all. The Pixel, on the other hand, seems to be a perfect size, in addition to being better in every respect compared to the at-the-time brilliant Nexus 6.
Also, you can totally get battery percentage with System UI Tuner. Just hold down the settings icon in the notification shade.
well, if you like the look and style of an IPhone, the Pixel XL is a good choice for you; yeah, no stereo speakers is a drag, but I like the Assistant, and it is the fastest phone I have ever used.
the hype is excessive, but thats what we get with everything now a days..

Does your settings gear now have a dim wrench next to it? If so open settings and scroll down to the bottom. You should see "System UI Tuner". Or, you know, you can google it yourself since I gave you all of the relevant information.

Now see here. This is a perfect example. It's all a matter of taste and perspective. The previous google phone users seem to love the Pixel/XL . I come from a long line of Sammy Note phones. Honestly I thought the Note edge was a great phone but with a case on it ..it was a bit to wide for me. actually to me the S6 edge plus was the perfect phone size wise and aesthetically. the 5.7 inch screen and the glass back were perfect. I also have the moto Z force just for the mods. When I think about it, with no bezels and a shortened chin the 5.7 inch screen of the S6 edge+ was basically perfect for me. As far as "wireless" charging I did have to have "fast wireless charging". It's not as fast as a cord with rapid charge but sometimes you just want to sit the phone down and get a quick boost. Not that I'm back to plugging in I do miss fast wireless. Again the assistant is cool, the camera is really decent. anyway.. to each his own. On edit.. thanks for the SUI heads up.. I like it. However,, that mini number in the battery is virtually unreadable.

The one thing I noticed straigh away was the crazy fast response everything on the pixel has compared to the note 7, there would be so many times that the Note 7 would visibly stutter even just a second here and there. Things like opening up and typing on the keybaord instantly would create this minute lag in the interface. I am very picky when it comes to that so I noticed straight away the Pixel is just fast, it doesn't stutter or lag like the note 7 did. Also small things like the speaker is FAR better than the Note 7, it's louder and fully than the 6p even. I hate edge screens too, I couldn't stand the note 7 in that regard, felt uncomfortable to hold compared to the pixel. I'm just so happy that I got a phone that just works ALL THE TIME. That's why I paid the extra $100 over the note 7 for the pixel. And I'm also betting on Google assistant (AI) becoming FAR more integrated and more powerful. All other phones will be missing out I think. Hardware can only go so far, software on the other hand....
Man who needs an SD card now?? I can finally video tape everything in 4k and not worry about memory or ever loosing the footage because it'll always be on the cloud! I legit video tape everything I can now!

I agree on the speed, the note did stutter on me from time to time any this phone doesn't at all really (although I have had a few force closes, possibly the apps fault). The assistant has promise but let's be honest, it's no better than Google now at the moment and by the time it is better, it'll be available on every android phone.
The phone itself to me is just last year's Cadillac with this year's Mercedes price tag.

A lot of people do. Really why drain your battery to access files on line rather than an sd card using less battery power and files on your sd card are a lot safer than the hackable cloud. And there is the extra data you use to access files on line. Sd cards use absolutely no data to access your files and do not eat up battery power so.
1. Sd card files safer than cloud.
2. Sd card uses no data to access your files, so does not eat up your data plan = saves you $$$$
3. Sd card files use less battery power than accessing files on the cloud.
I get that, I'm blessed with unlimited with Verizon but I always only upload to cloud while charging. If anyone is interested in true unlimited data with Verizon, I have an extra line available. I'll only charge 80 a month

Well hard to say, as it has cpu that is newer than last years phone, also has better cameras than phones from last year, and software you can't compare to those phones either. And when compares to phones this year, it's kinda the same. I agree it is overpriced, but they are doing it because they can. If you want the best android experience available, there is only one phone. If you don't want to pay that much then there are great alternatives.
Waterproof - Owned S7 and Note, never seemed to EVER need it unless I was showing someone
Wireless charging - have a stand and still use the cable 90% of the time since it's faster
SD Card - I could see this one as a big point, but most people I know never fill up their phones and the ones who do could easily clear up half of it and improve performance by deleting unused apps and cleaning up the gallery, plus with 120 gigs + unlimited cloud I'm goooood
Gimmicks have made people wanting stuff they use maybe once every 4 months. "I can't have it therefore I need it"
IMO Software performance / day to day use > everything else .
Note 7 is a beast phone but I could honestly say at least once a day I get caught in huge lag spikes when trying open snapchat for a quick photo or even the camera app.
Sacrificing gimmicks for day to day use is worth it 100%

I think it's still worth it, considering you still have more than 2 years and P6P is a very capable camera phone with smooth OS.
All the software issues you may have heard about in the past (brightness, higher battery consumption, etc.) have been fixed. Also quarterly updates can be exciting and that's something you don't get on other phones.
Also, Pixel 7 Pro is already down 20% in some stores, so that price is also worth it.
I will probably update to the pixel 8 pro after my 6 pro. I think even the 6 pro is worth getting for $250. I have lineage os 20 on my 6 pro and those updates should last quite a while. I'd invest in it.

Also, considering custom Roms and GSI, you can run anything you want. Like my backup phone, Oneplus Nord N10 5G only got android 11, and ROM support is dead for it. It is running Crdoid 2/20/2023 android 13 GSI ROM with 0 issues

Shooting photos and videos with this phone main camera is amazing, even in low light. It would always impress me, the stabilization is also good. The downside is the ultra wide camera. Shooting videos in low light with the ultra wide camera results in a washed out video. The quality is so bad that it is embarrassing to call this a "Pro" version. My 3 years old OP8 (OnePlus 8) shoots a way better ultra wide video in low light, and the camera is the OP's weakest point... The front camera photos are underwhelming. The telephoto is great, however, I only got to test it in good natural lighting.
Battery (1/5):
This is a 5000 mAh battery device, it should last you the whole day without any trouble. Left home with 72% charge on my OP8 and 78% on the Pixel. I used Google Maps on my OP8 for 1h34m, 30 minutes of it is probably searching for places, the rest was for navigating around the cities. On the other hand, I used the Pixel for taking a few photos and 2 short videos, not more than 5 minutes of usage. Used it for chatting for around 45 minutes. This was an 8 hours trip. The OP8 went down from 72 to 39, the pixel went down frok 78 to 32. 33% with 1h34m Maps vs 46% with 45 min of chatting and a few shots and 2 videos. I tried Anker's 30W charger, and it charged around 13% in 10 minutes – definitely not 30W, my OP8 does 20% in 9 minutes with 30W warp charging. The phone's battery did well on Wi-Fi though, so the problem might be with it cellular receiver.
Software (2/5):
Google's phones are known for their "software". I am not impressed by it, not even a little bit. The camera app would crash so frequently that it got on my nerves. I bought this phone to take photos, and it has built its image on simply doing that, but they can't program an app that functions properly. Google assistant does not work when the phone is locked. I enabled the option in the settings for the assistant to give personal data when locked, but it didn't work. The routines in the Google Assistant didn't work either. The rest of the commands worked fine.
Performance (3/5):
The phone is fast, I didn't challenge it much except with compressing some videos. It is fast, and weirdly enough, it compresses videos to smaller sizes than my OP8. It does heat up a little while compressing but that seemed normal to me. However, I noticed that it heats up with normal use (chatting a little bit, YouTube, browsing the internet). It seemed abnormal to me.
Build (4/5):
The phone looks amazing to me (highly subjective) and feels premium. The display seems hollow when I tap on it with my finger nails, comparing it to a Samsung A31, Note 5 and the OP8. I bought the white color – Google (and pretty much all companies) feels like they need to call it some weird name cloudy starlight or whatever – and it looked quite good. I hated the shiny aluminum frame, it looked like the shiny plastic frames you find on the A series from Samsung. The speakers are not good at all, but I am used to the OP8, which has one of the best speakers out there. It sounds like when you turn on the "surrounding" setting for your headphones.
Fingerprint reader (3/5):
It is fast enough when it actually tries to read your fingerprint. What does that mean? There were many cases where I lift the phone, it lights up and shows the fingerprint reader, I place my finger there and nothing happens. I lift my finger and retry, and it reads it perfectly, never missing. I guess the phone would wait for the animation to finish playing before attempting to read my fingerprint. Comparing it to the OP8, it is much slower.

Yeah, you are pretty much correct with everything, except those software quirks are not occuring in my unit.
I am not really a heavy user of ultrawide so I don't mind. I am kinda biased towards pure Android (I hated it though before A12) and having reviewed many phones in the past professionally, I just got tired of all the custom ROMs (tried every manufacturer except Vivo and oppo...back then they were not available in my country).
Yeah, you reminded me of those modem quirks - I mean the signal strength is great (better than gf's iPhone 12), but the battery consumption is terrible. I forgot about them after year and half of usage.
Charging is slow - about 23 W or so. It takes hour and half to fully charge.
Yeah, the phone is buttery smooth and yeah it tends to run hotter than average (I don't mind it, got used to it and case lowers the heat emission to my hands). The problem is Tensor (ehm, ehm Exynos). It's also weaker in comparison to Snapdragons.
Fingerprint reader is one of the slowest, that's true. Still waiting for Face unlocking, but that's never gonna happen I guess.

I have seen several reviews and almost no one mentioned the issues I faced, especially the battery drain on LTE and ultra wide camera.
