Title. In my ****ry some gadgets news publish that lg g4 not receive it but g3 will get the update. Its true?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
that would make no sense at all, this device is not note 7, it will receives updates and also considering G3 got V30 update and G4 is on V20 I bet we will.
Rumours says that because the bootloader bug LG afraid to update it and inspire the problem again. Its reasonable?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Yes...but in "pure" theory ! Our G4 should have it ! :good:
He is enought young....and high range device ! :good:
But with this bootloop of the death problem ,LG can decide not to do N update...
I realy hope ! Anyone have reliable source to know updates plains?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Come on guys. The G4 will 110% get it
Why are you think ? G4 was not receive 6.0.1
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Yes, it hasn't, but LG is skipping those small updates.
On the other hand - I am interested in if they release Android 7.0 or 7.1 or which version finally they will release.
Because rhey skip this "small" updates we stuck with very bad battery life

This bad battery life i got since I bought G4, so I dont know if 6.0.1 would help. It may be that 7 will be not better with battery life..
Back to history of LG G series..
The LG G2 started with Android 4.2.2, then LG decide not to give 4.3 instead jump to 4.4.2 and finally 5.0.2 and the support is dead now..
The LG G3 started with 4.4.2, then to 5.0 and LG again decided not to give 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 instead straightaway jump to 6.0..
Now the G4 started with 5.1.1 then 6.0 and again LG skipped 6.0.1..
Technically, LG loves to skip the minor update, idk why LG doing this.. Hmmm
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA-Developers mobile app
What kind of a question is that, even.
I am pretty sure we will get Nougat but most probably not the next major version after it. Still the only thing that I really want from Nougat is native dual screen and doze on the go, my battery life is awful.

When LG release a firmware, they release a firmware, not just an android update.
Try installing CM10.1 after flashing LG 4.1.2 firmware and you ll see a big difference on battery consumption.
I get 6h of web browsing instead of 4h with the same CM10.1 on the same phone... only thing that changed is the firmware that have been flashed before.
Personnaly I dont think LG will release a 4.2, but I would take it as a firmware update anytime if it gives me another 1.5x battery
I let myself be surprised by LG.
Speculate that, yes or no, brings nothing
In any case, I am very satisfied with the G

yeah, I saw that the battery of every 4.2.2 custom rom is not as good as 4.1.2 stock rom
New to lg, but on samsung, CM is way better than TW and that's a fact.Unfortunatelly lg doesn't have all the support samsung has.It will take some time, but,in the end, CM will be better than lg fw.
LG patches pure vanilla with Gesture UI and adds specific apps(like q-slide)..how do you call that?
All manufacturers do it(samsung with TW, HTC with sense and motorola with motoblur).

My point is : install lg latest firmware before installing CM and you ll see a big difference IN CM
CM and the others are good options for those who don't like LG UI. But I have never been a fan of CM on any of my phones cause it's never perfect!

maybe now,lg roms are better, because cm is still young for our phones.but, with a proper dev team,cm will wipe off lg roms.

I think LG will release android 5 instead of 4.2, because our G have strong hardware. Now we just pray for it!
lol, KLP will be released later this year.until then, we will have 4.2
My source told me 4.2.2 will be available at the end of may, begining of june. But it's possible to have it earlier.

4.3 looks great. I hope LG changes the Notif area to be more like AOSP. And OpenGL3.0 support means better graphics support and more games with better graphics. Apps should have better UI. Also the new UI of the phone will work on OpenGL 3.0 support.
Bluetooth 4.0 low energy will be incorporated in the core Android code. I know LG Optimus G already has 4.0 but the driver is from LG. Now more apps can use bluetooth 4.0 because of this.
So 4.3 although not a big name change is a great step forward.
Do you think LG will throw the 4.2 in a garbage if they were working on it before google release the new source code??? I just think we'll have the 4.2 update instead of 4.3
Now, all we can do is to pray.

I hate that LG does not talk about updates. They will announce the G2 shortly and forget about the optimus G. Almost 9 months have passed since the 4.2 release and the Optimus G release. That's to much.... i will wait for Nexus 5 or similar in Oct-Nov and sell the G...
I feel the wait for 4.3 is just a excuse for better Android but if we wait another 6 months for this... it just sucks.

Could not agree more, lg can't just forget about us!
It's taking ridiculously long for the update to come out.
If only the Sony Xperia Z was cheaper... it's priced ridiculously high on contract in my country compared to the G or N4... and the specs are similar. But Sony has a great track of updates and AOSP support lately.

but the xperia ui (timescape or whatever it's name is) is not that fancy.
LG just sucks with updates. as said 9 months have passed. the odds are pretty low to be honest. N4 and G is so similar. no big work needed. even if we get 4.2.2 i'll be happy with LG. opengl es 3.0 would be nice tho.
so that's why lg doesn't have customers. everyone knows that they are extremely bad at support.
I really don't see how they can convince us to buy their smartphones in the future until they really stat to give updates i mean.. if this great phone won't be updated in the next months .. i will just sell it to somebody with a low price and buy a samsung/htc instead of lg.

Exactly. I dont know why is it good for LG. They better realize this.
We all know now about the up and coming Nexus 5, which LG is again the manufacturer. It will be launch (according to rumor) with the latest Android version 4.4 or was it 5(?) called KitKat.
The G2 is very much here. 4.2 out-of-the-box with all it's niceties.
Now we, GPro user/owner probably wondering what LG's instore for our neglected capable device. We're still on 4.1 and should be on 4.2 by now. And one could even ask if we could still see the light with 4.3, much more with KitKat.
Will a petition be of any help from GPro user to send LG a clear voice demanding support from them? Will they listen thinking that we're just small in number?
The GPro was my first LG (smart)phone and really have no idea how they are with support. Was LG notoriously sucks with updates?
Will a PETITION work?

Don't get your hopes too high, mate. They're making some really good phones, but unfortunately, they've chosen to stick to their "no update" policy. They've abandoned the Optimus G, just like they've abandoned other flagships before. The same's the case with the G Pro. As it's going to be with the G2, too. I've been really tempted by the G Pro (LG, in my opinion, have the best displays of the lot), but seeing their poor record of updates, it makes me think twice.

You didn't do too much research if you have to ask that. Combine LG's propensity to not release updates with AT&T's 6 month vetting process after its released and you can pretty much expect that nothing north of 4.2.2 will ever hit the G Pro. I'd assume once the G2 is out for 60 days there will be a 4.2.2 International G Pro update then maybe 90 days to 6 months later an AT&T update. By then no one will care and the device will have already been EOL'ed.
If you want a newer Android version on a non Nexus phone you're going to have to flash them with a ROM. Its a sad state of affairs for the Android eco-system but at least there's an upgrade path of some sort, even if its manual.
from what I know, LG has always been very very slow with update.
Better sit and wait for it. I don't think we will be forgotten.
Read this:
LG : Just like Samsung, LG hasn't issued any official release regarding updates but since Nexus 4 is getting one, it is safe to assume that others will follow suit. Remember Optimus G is very similar to Nexus 4 on the insides. The following LG devices may get updated soon.

Optimus G Pro

Optimus G2

There arn mucht different in JB. 4.2.2 its bugs with change files management. The 4.3 GE dont work w some games.
4.2+ finally handles group sms correctly. Not sure why it's taken this long but it's much needed.

One of my favorite books ever is Harry Browne's How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World. In it, he talks about "direct actions" and "indirect actions." Direct actions involve doing something to get what you want. Indirect actions involve trying to change someone else's mind so they'll give you what you want. Direct actions are usually quicker, easier and more reliable.
This proposed petition is a perfect example of the difference. We can either spend a lot of time and effort putting together a petition hoping to change LG's mind in a month or two, or we can just root and flash on our own and have the newest OS (4.3) today.
5 cents, please.

you remember that zf5 came with jellybean..they had kitkat now having lollipop 5.0
and zf5 isnt flagship or flagship killer for them...
but zf2 is flasgship for asus and flagship killer in general
so however you look at it..zf2 will get atleast 2 upgrades... atleast 5.1.1 and M
Flagship killer!?
I'm glad I have one.

Flagship Killer? I guess we will wait and see.
I am sure I remember hearing of an interview with an ASUS person where they said that their policy was that their devices would get one major update and be supported for one year. The Zenfone 5 has exceeded that I guess. That said, seems like support for my Memo Pad 7 has ceased after about 6 months, and with only a botched Lollipop 5.0.1 pgrade for WW and JP still stuck with the original Kitkat 4.4.2 (they never bothered with 4.4.4 at all). So who knows what to expect with our Zenfone 2. Hopefully as their flagship device they'll treat it well. I don't really care about getting M, but very much hope they can deliver us a stable, bug-free build of 5.1.1 soon.
Well the best is yet to come. CM 12.1 !

now m is just a developer preview.i think the official firmware for zenfone 2 running m will be released in november more or less (I HOPE).Consider the first to mount stable android m will be the new nexus.then asus have to optimize m for zenny 2,mount zenui and all the optimization work.
Based on my experience with the nexus 4 getting quick updates is a mixed blessing. The latest and greatest new features and new bugs
I'm looking forward to "M" on the ZenFone. I'm running it on my Nexus 6 and Nexus 7(2013). Smoother and best of all developer options now has a "OEM unlocking", option as well as a "dark mode". And it comes compatible with "Layers" stock.
I'm just curious because i just got my G4 and i want to know . thanks
When we get a universal bootloader unlock we can then get custom ROMs. I have no doubt we will get at least unofficial CM, but we can't say at this point about official CM.

The phone's been only out about a month now. Just be patient. Devs have a life too, they got other stuff to do.
Any update on this? Is there at least an unofficial build of CM for the LG g4 yet?
This phone was released in late April. Does it look like there will be no version of CyanogenMod for this device?
