Hi,
I've upgraded my note 4 to MM using the "Bootloader unlock and safe upgrade to MM "post from the general section. Now I'm having the next problems:
1.-I'm using a GSM Sim Card and it works but when I try to change the network mode I only get LTE/CDMA and CDMA, if I select one of those the networks, it stops working, and to go back I have to do a Network Settings Reset.
2.-I cant use MMI codes from my operator, I think that this might be due to the first problem.
What can I do to fix this?
Flash jasmine rom instead

Is this the only solution? install another ROM?
Same problem on 5.1.1. Non VZ SIM, two phones (both VZ Note 4's) - the 'Global' network mode option disappears, as does the entire 'APN' button. Restoring to full 5.1.1 (non rooted, etc) resolves this. It appears that during the original setup wizard stage, something (Knox? License Agent? Dunno?) does something and then I can use my non-VZ SIM.
The same thing during a rooted/partial-system-5.1.1 (systemonlyN910V-5.1.1.tar) + factory reset, there is a 'Knox has stopped responding' and the SIM never seems to work, and the network mode options do not allow me to select Global, or input an APN (there is no APN button).
Same thing but *without* wiping "data" (ie, not selecting 'factory reset'), the SIM works, or rather I can select 'Global' as my network mode, and the APN options are available.
Unfortunately I also have to go thru the process of removing KingRoot and the other junk at this point.
My theory at this morning is that there is a setting on 'data' that Knox applies during the setup wizard(s) that affects how the network options work with a non-vz SIM.
I suspect that if you have a normal VZ SIM and go thru the root process above, you probably have limited (fixed) network options but they are the settings that work with vz.
Some or all of the above may be totally wrong - I'm learning daily and have lots of learning left to do.

Just upgraded to 4.3 today but my data services don't seem to function well. Can someone please help me?
Same problem here..
Looks to be an issue with TWRP, have either of you tried the latest CWM recovery? I was hoping to avoid it since my nandroid backup was TWRP (I'm honestly not sure if there's a difference) but a few posts in the main threads are reporting a similar thing.
EDIT: Nope, same issue, at least for omnirom.
I take that back, it does work.
Go to Settings - Network Connections - More Networks - Mobile Networks - Access Points Names
Check and see if you have the APNs from your provider, they usually are 3 ([Provider] Internet, [Provider] WAP, [Provider] MMS - in my case). Make sure [Provider] Internet is selected. When I usually re-install some ROMs, the WAP APN is selected by default and that will show me the 3G data icon but it will not let me access internet resources with my data services.
If by any chance you are missing the Internet APN, search a bit on the internet for your provider APN settings for internet access.
Hope this works.

It just acts like there's no SIM card at all. I don't understand it completely, but CWM is doing something that TWRP is not (or vice versa) and is causing this issue. Took my 7105T from virgin vanilla stock to the omnirom 4.4.2 nightlies yesterday and when I flashed from CWM the issue was resolved.
That said though, I'm unsure how this will affect omnirom's updates so I might need to switch to cyanogenmod. Shame, because I do prefer TWRP.

I don't know what you guys are talking about but I can't even access the APN settings, its invisible. I have a SCH R950 note 2. H2o wireless already took my money but told me I needed to unlock it, even though I can't unlock a CDMA phone. im so confused because it is quad band and has sim card slot but no one can unlock it and I cant find how to flash to h20
Hi.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 model on carrier T-mobile. Lately the phone has gone nuts and will get stuck on dialing out and will never make the call. Everything else works fine. Sometimes I have to soft reset, pull the battery and that will fix it for a call or two, then it will get stuck again. I have contacted T-mobile about this over 5 times and none of them can help. We tried to change the sim, reset the account. Etc and nothing. I have reset the cache, factory reset and even put in a good working sim card from another phone and the same problem comes up. During my latest troubleshooting I have narrowed it down to where I switch "network mode" to GSM only and that can make calls out all the time, but the data stays on E (which then I can't use the internet because it's so slow) When I switch back to auto I am sometimes able to place calls again, but only a few. After I test a few calls and leave the phone for a few minutes the phone will get stuck back on not making calls out and just saying "dialing".
Has anyone had the same problems or know of a fix? Currently I have been trying to flash the modem to different versions to see if that fixes the problem. The first two modems I have flashed did not work and came up with "unknown baseband".
If anyone can help I greatly appreciate it.
This is a known issue with 4.3.. What firmware are you on? Assuming you flashed the correct baseband for your device, the 'unknown baseband' message sounds like you are in 4.3 but what build? You can't flash any modems successfully less than 4.3

I was previously on 4.1.2 when the problem first started. I updated it to 4.3 and still the same problem.
jss15j.t999uvuenc2 build. (I put this one back on last night so at least I can use the phone today when I am at work)
I was just hoping that the device didn't go bad when it was on 4.1.2 because it was working just fine before the problem started.
Was it official update to NC2 by OTA/Odin or you just flashed a ROM?

NC2 was OTA. After doing some searches it said that OTA could of been corrupt, so I went and downloaded KIES and did a reinstall that way.
When I upgraded to 4.3 I tried that default baseband out and had the same problems. That is when I was searching on google and came across this forum and also the thread about flashing modems.
What APN (Access Point Name) are you on ? Also what is your Preferred Network Type set to ? Its located in Settings > More I think.(I don't use Stock Firmware)

APN is epc.tmobile.com
Network Mode current set to GSM (the only way I can make calls out without the problem occuring)
WCDMA/GSM (Auto Connect) is what it should be on so my data is at 4G, but the calls is the problem here
I am not sure but can you check the settings of the Dialer to see if there is ways to choose Lookup providers ?

Nope don't see anything in the dialer about selecting a provider..
Its supposed to be something about Choose Lookup Providers. At least that's the way it is on AOSP.
I suggest Odin flashing the stock NC2 firmware and then factory resetting from stock recovery. (Backup first of course!) If it is still an issue, it will most likely be a hardware problem. From what you have said so far, I believe that you will find this to be the case. Could've been due to damage from a drop, or even overheating at some point. Or it could just be that its simply due to hardware degradation over time.
Hi,
while i was messing around with the network setting via *#*#4636#*#* menu, I accidentally selected the USA bands, and it has caused me to not able to make any phone calls or even be connected to the network.
It does not allow me to change back to the default bands I was - international
Understand that this seems to be quite common mistakes across different devices.
But specifically for Desire 816, anyone can help me with this? My device is not rooted (i'd like to keep it taht way) and bought unlock.
Anyone? I'd be super grateful! Panicking like crazy right now...

Hey its simple and worked on mine!
Got to *#*#4636#*#*, then enable Flight mode using the Power menu, or your status bar toggle, then click Select Radio Band and you should see Automatic, now before you select it, disable flight mode. Hope it works, else in order to reset RSD settings, you need to factory reset (unless u root ofc)

Hi all,
After upgrading to Marshmallow, I've had many problems with Xposed. Flashing it seems to completely remove any mobile data/texting functionality. I've seen this on Stock GPE rom, Wolla GPE rom, S.Rom and Skydragon as well. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a fix?
Thanks!
Suggestions
I'm not an expert but I'd probably try the following steps:
Ensure you're using the latest version of the xposed framework (v79, sdk 23 as of present)
Check APN settings before and after xposed install for any noticeable changes
Flash the latest radio file (you can find radio files here)
You've been clean flashing (wiping data, cache .etc) all these roms right?
Keep me posted

I have flashed v79, sdk23. After flashing Xposed, APN settings completely disappears from the settings app (pretty noticeable I guess ). Also get a "Service not available" toast when I toggle Mobile Data. Pretty sure I have the latest radio. I took the newest Lollipop OTA from T-Mobile before unlocking bootloader/flashing custom rom.
Interestingly, when I tried to dirty flash the rom after Xposed broke stuff (to remove the files since I believe they're installed to /system) mobile data remained broken.
I've gone back to not using Xposed, but Greenify just isn't as good.

Hmmm okay so I've done some research and I have a few ideas if you're willing to put the time in.
Likely solutions -
*#*#4636#*#* in dialer, check phone info -> "Set preferred network type" and make sure it is correct for your desired network (probably GSM)
*#*#4636#*#* -> phone info and turn radio off and then on
Anything unusual under phone info?
Other options (after xposed install) -
Toggle aeroplane mode (sounds simple but you never know)
Boot without sim card inserted, turn off, boot with sim card inserted.
Re-flash latest radio
Long (hopefully failproof ) method -
Completely reset phone using RUU
Install any OTAs
Root, unlock & install TWRP
Install xposed
When you go to settings -> wireless & networks -> more -> cellular networks, is the APN option the only thing missing? Just for reference, I have data roaming, preferred network type, APNs and network operators. If you have any of these options I'd highly recommend playing around with them to see if this allows APN settings to appear.
If it's just APN settings missing, I'd assume it's some kind of radio/sim detection error. If that isn't the only issue then something must be corrupt and I'd recommend starting from scratch.

I have unlocked s6 and APN won't stick. When put into network mode automatic I get to input APN and it works until I let phone turn off screen or I manually hit power button. When I get back into phone the APN setting I input, for t-mobile, are gone. There are Sprint APN listed but I can't choose nor add or delete any. If I choose LTE GSM auto prl through one of the service menu's I am able to again choose APN and input what I want but at sleep and rewake the phone goes back to not listing the APN and having greyed out sprint APN. Phone works but have data issues here and there and sometimes have to reboot to get lte to stick. Lock screen sometimes shows T-mobile as carrier but usually shows Sprint. I can still make calls and use LTE data on my t-mobile sim when it says Sprint as carrier but I think my data and mms issues would be fixed if I could get the dang APN to stick. Any ideas? Different rom? I'm on 5.1.1 OJ7

This is a really old thread, but since I've been struggling with this issue for several months, I think this is the place for a reply.
There are several problems with a "sprint" unlocked S6, but the most annoying (other than hands free activation) is the APN settings going back to default and being "locked" until you reboot the phone. When in this "locked" state - you will not be able to receive MMS messages.
I have found that deleting (or simply renaming) the customer.xml (/system/csc/customer.xml) stops the resetting of the APN - and interestingly opens up the additional configurations under Mobile Networks -> Network Mode to choose GSM/WCDMA/LTE.
After fixing this and fixing hands free activation (https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/hands-free-activation-t3199214) the phone now performs VERY well on T-Mobile, just like it belongs there
I just checked my device on 7.0 Nougat and I can't find that file (there is no folder in root>system called "csc"). Any idea how I can fix this?

You may not be allowed to view certain system files for some reason. I believe you have to be rooted to delete them. You could also try the system update first if you are stock. But probably best bet either way would be to start with clean install of whatever ROM you use or the stock ROM from TWRP. I've been able to delete the files from skyhigh and Rick Wardenberg's ROM. GL!:good:

First you need your msl code I can help if not.then use data daily code or an app idonee don't get a fake I found on code after you do that you just need to change mms and apn setting see screenshot.i have 920p on 7.0 stock rooted running on t-mobile lte get mms everything
