I am planning to buy Mi Max Pro , i would like to know if xiaomi have released Kernal Source ? so it would get Cyanogenmod Official support
No Kernel sources have been released at this point. As it is a Snapdragon device, there is a chance that they will be released at some point, but it is never certain.
If you want a Xiaomi device with official CM support, you are likely best off going with the Snapdragon Redmi Note 3 'Pro' (Kate). Kate contains Band 20, but requires a more complex installation method - http://mikestechlife.blogspot.com/2016/10/installing-cm13-on-xiaomi-redmi-note-3.html)

Hello
I would like to buy Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 AI Edition (please see the image in the attached file ), but is there a difference between this version and the pro version, is there any difference in the system version and the possibility of installing custom rom ?
thank you
yes there's difference in camera hardware between AI version and pro version but don't worry
but all custom rom here in xda works on both device it's Unified same oneplus 3 and 3t
only difference is in camera. rest everything same you can use same roms on all the whyred. they have same code as well.
I'm planning of getting one also, would like to know if the camera can be modded also? Such as camera 2 api.
Hello,
I'm new to the Xiaomi community and I recently ordered the
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Dual camera 4GB/64GB version.
I understand that there's the Xiaomi redmi note 5 3/4GB 64/128GB single camera version;
Xiaomi redmi note 5 Pro 4/6GB 64/128GB version;
Xiaomi redmi note 5 Dual AI 4/6GB 64/128GB version.
The thing that really confuses me, is the Dual camera version the same as the Pro?
I couldn't find the Pro version on most stores and the specs seem to be quite similar.
Will I be able to install the same ROM's on the Dual version that are meant for the Pro?
Are they really the same?
This is really getting me frustrated and I can't find any info online about this.
Please help.
Xiaomi is the master of confusion regarding phone variants and names.
But in your case and only if your phone has two backside cameras:
- Xiaomi redmi note 5 Pro 4/6GB 64/128GB -> REDMI NOTE 5 PRO INDIA
- If your phone says that it uses a Global MIUI ROM then: Xiaomi redmi note 5 Dual AI 4/6GB 64/128GB -> Redmi Note 5 Global
- If your phone says that it uses a Russian MIUI ROM then: Xiaomi redmi note 5 Dual AI 4/6GB 64/128GB -> Redmi Note 5 Russia
Now, I am a little bit confused where exactly someone will find ROMs for Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 3/4GB 64/128GB with a single camera. It's believed that this variant is actually the Redmi 5 Plus but... I am not sure.

I checked the custom ROMs online regarding the single camera version, they were called just "Note 5 single camera" and there were a lot designed specifically for that version. I believe my specific version of Xiaomi is the China version, since it is the chinese version with the Global ROM installed, if that's the case, there are plenty of ROMs for me to choose.

You wrote your Xiaomi is the Chinese version but it has a Global ROM... How do you know that? If I am not too indiscreet, what is your model version?
In case you do not know, you may find that information under:
Settings-> About phone

Last time i checked, ( 10 minutes before posting this), The specs for Mi A2 Lite and Redmi 6 pro are totally the same, except the network bands. We can even assume that Redmi 6 pro is just rebranded version of Mi A2 Lite for India (and some other countries where they are being sold, if any). So, is it at all possible to flash that Android one directly into Redmi 6 pro, or do we need to make some modifications to the package.
Another short question...(as am a newbie and i would like the community to push my knowledge limit a little further). Is it at all possible to flash android one on to any other phone, whatever the specs maybe(same and different).
Edit - I found some interesting facts - Mi A2 Lite is indeed the Global version of Redmi 6 pro
- Redmi 6 pro uses a classic partitioning system while A2 lite uses the A/B system. So direct flashing the stock android one rom will brick it.
New questions - is there any ways to change the partition system from one to the other?
is there some way, we 'stock rom' lust hounds get a hand on it using this 6 pro?
And did you think about the notch?
Mi a2 rom
Did it work
Jay: Did you try A2 or A2 Lite?

Basically you can't flash Android one version of daisy on sakura. You can port android one for sakura or install a previous one which is ported and almost works fine.

Hey! I've been thinking the same thing, and I've tinkered around the fastboot stock images for both the A2 Lite and the 6 Pro. The stock image for Daisy contains a img named "partition" and I think this is what makes the A/B partition in the phone. I haven't tried it, But I'm think of doing it. editing all the flash_all.sh files in the Android One ROM from the A2 Lite, i.e replacing all codename "daisy" with "sakura" so it doesn't throw a invalid device error. I'll update

how were you able to flash the android one rom i also want to put it on my redmi 6 pro
Wondering about it. I'm thinking of buying one (whichever is cheaper at my place).
Also wondering if it is possible to replace/delete MIUI (im not sure what it is, been thinking it is OS so replacing it with Android One or any custom rom honestly)
Never had a Xiaomi product, so I'm at a lost.
If you prefer a clean vanilla Android experience go with the A2 Lite, if you prefer a heavy customized UI filled with "bloatware" go for the Redmi 6 Pro.
Even though both devices share the "same" hardware, they aren't OS flash compatible.
At the moment, we only have GSI roms when it comes to custom roms, but some people are working on a Lineage port.
Can't speak for the Redmi 6 Pro, better check its forum before buying one of the devices.
There are some differences between both devices. For example there is the different SoC (Snapdragon 636 for Note 6 Pro and the Snapdragon 625 for the Mi A2 Lite). Furthermore the software isn't compatible, if it would, we would have a nice MIUI-Rom for the Mi A2 Lite
But I think that you can replace the MIUI-Stock-Rom of the Redmi Note 6 Pro with another Custom Rom or GSI. This should work and as far as I know there are some Roms :good:

He didn't asked about Redmi 6 *Note* Pro. 6 Pro and A2 Lite use the same hardware.
Edit: The main differences between the 6 Pro and the A2 Lite are the partition scheme and the OS which is used. The 6 Pro has oldschool A type partition scheme, A2 lite uses A/B partition scheme for seamless OS updates and therefore you can't crossflash their stock roms 1:1.

Cleaner? o.o
I forgot to mention I was thinking about Redmi 5X / Mi A1 as well (A2 lite looks like an A1 with a bit of upgraded hardware + MIUI + more battery)
Mi A1 is priced cheaper by a lil bit, but yeah..
So there's no custom roms for A2 Lite yet? I want to root, yep.

There are Treble-Roms, these Roms are like a generic custom rom for many devices. The Mi A2 Lite supports these Roms and it also works fine.

I wouldn't buy a A1 anymore, because you will end up with only one more OS update and one year less of security patches.
Custom roms like Lineage are in the making and you can use GSI roms (just google them). Rooting is no problem, you won't
have any problems with OTA updates after rooting, as long as you don't alter the system partitions.

The R6P is also a treble device, that means, that you are also able to flash gsi roms! And there are more gsi's for the A only scheme... But the R6P has less lte frequencies - it doesnt have band 20 (800 mhz) which is important for europe!
HI Guys,
As pe the official mi website, Upcoming MIUI 12 update does not include Floating Window and Animated Icon feature for Redmi Note 8. Buy these feature will be supported for Redmi Note 7 and Redmi 7 devices which is older than our device.
What could be the reason. Are we neglected...???
https://en.miui.com/
Probably forgot to include Note 8. Doesn't really make sense if an older device can have these features but the newer ones don't.
MIUI 12 global is new so i'd guess whatever on their site isn't final anyways.
Im i going to get a same experience with this device??...... Wtf
I was using redmi 3 pro before and they di the same with that device dropping update even when redmi 2 was still getting updates....
At least we have some stable android 10 on redmi 3 pro... But redmi note 8 doesn't seems to have that many stable rom... Hiks im sad
update: they fixed the webpage
