Why does every kernel here not have voltage support?? I like to tune my voltages to improve battery life. The 6p has an 820 and it has voltage controls. Why can't we? Especially with elite kernel and elementalX two of the best kernels and neither have voltage controls
The Nexus 6p has a SD810.
The sd820 has dynamic Voltage. Undervolting is more complicated with that and not Worth the hassle.
If you search the elemental X Thread for the keyword undervolting you will find a lot of answers.
so what kernel produces the abosolute best batterylife? im on viper without any custom kernel
and is there going to be any extended battery cases>?

For better battery try using a pnp tweak found in ROM section
Do you think there will be anymore development for this phone? As far as Roms go?

I just rooted my DInc today and I heard about a kernel that ups the battery life. Is there such a thing, and if so, can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance
Most kernels try to improve battery life. Are you running a sense rom or aosp rom?
If you're talking about Savage kernel, be careful... that thing uses an SBC (super battery charging) mod that can potentially harm your device in the long run. I personally am using VirusROM 1.5.1 with its stock kernel and have seen better battery life than SBC, but that's just me.

With this kernel my battery quite literally does not go down when it's sleeping (screen off), unless I'm in an area with bad reception. Screen on is also somewhat better than stock - it's hard to improve screen on at all, since that uses the CPU pretty aggressively. However, it does use improved scaling to always try and minimize the CPU load while keeping performance up. All that + HAVS (Hybrid Adaptive Voltage Scaling, which lowers the amount of power the CPU is drawing) = win battery life

The superior battery charging kernals will not harm your device, but instead may shorten the life of your battery over time. But at 15 dollars a battery, some believe it to a negligible side effect. Its all personal preference, really.

How exactly do I go about installing the kernel? Sorry for such a n00b question, but I only did this today.

If you're sticking with the stock ROM then search for a Sense based kernel, then read the OP and associated reviews in the comments following to learn how to install it, current features (what works and what doesn't) and any other possible info you'd need.
If you're planning on installing a different ROM, those already have kernels baked in, so give that a shot first and then try other kernels if you feel the need.
DInc/XDA App
I've had EXCELLENT results with the kernel from Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5 (NOT 5.2)
I forgot which one it was though... D: I think it was the ziggy 12/19...?
Kernels for Battery
I use the Newest Ziggy Kernel (BFS) with SetCPU set at conservative.
=Great Battery life !!
This kernel also enables other options like SmartASS and Performance, but conservative is a winner for battery life.
which 4.2.2 kernel has given you guys the most battery life?
Here's the thing. Within kernels, there are different governors. Those governors impact battery life as well. But, there is no one size fits all for governors, either. It really depends on how you use your phone.
I would suggest reading up on different governors starting HERE.
Once you can determine what governor might suit you best, find a kernel that supports it
Please anyone can suggest best ROM with great battery life and good performance and no heating (tired of heating issue)?
Kernel Tweaks and custom kernel suggestions will also be preferable.
Thank you

Try AEX 24th July build for starters. Then move on as per research & development.
Along with AEX ... U can try AOSPG ROM... Best SOT out there and good performance too
Flash Jaguar kernel in both the cases for extra sweetness

Tried AEX 24th July build, AICP, Cosmic OS, Pure Nexus but in every ROM I'm facing heating issue some ROM have good performance with less battery life and some have good battery life but weak performance.
Currently using viper os with Jaguar kernel. Antutu score is just 110000.

The latest one of AOSGP available right now .. i guess the 20 august build.. If you are using AEX 24 july build.. Use July version of the jaguar kernel... or if using the AOSGP latest version.. use 13 August version of jaguar kernel

Go for citrus CAF 3.5
Thank you for your support
Using AOSGP-X with Jaguar kernel. No heating issues. Underclocked to 1.92GHz battery life is great. Performance is also good.
Pardon me for being a noob, what does it mean to switch kernels and how dangerous that is? I thought it would be better to choose ROM and stick to kernel bundled in the same package. I'm willing to explore if difference is noticeable.
AEX is the best with stock kernel.
Gives Everytime 6:30-7:00 hrs of SOT with YouTube chrome movies texting calling and gaming.
Use greenify.

Kernel is the bridge between the software & the hardware, it is a fairly simple process to change kernels, you simply have to flash the zip from the recovery. Read thoughrouly about the kernel you wish to flash, if it gives any extra features you would like then proceed
AEX 4.6 + Heliox 1709
I get 6+ hrs of SOT and the deep sleep is always around 97%.

No Rom is good for this phone here...i dont understand what's going on! is this some kinda race?, isn't it a devs job to complete the project before he/she moves on to the next one?
On one hand, we have 7.1.2 with so many bugs yet to be fixed in most of the roms, but these so called "devs" just abandon the project and run away to fix oreo which has 100 times more bugs than the prev ones.
It just goes to prove that there's no guarantee Oreo will be completely stabilized before you move on to Android P, there's no purpose for people to choose custom ROMs, instead we can stick with the stock...
On the other hand, I see devs fighting in each others thread....ridiculous!
Trust me, 90% of the rom can be build in short period of time, anyone can take the source code and build a rom, yes i said it, anyone can do it....but only a proper dev can build a stable, bugless rom...the remaining 10% is the pain in the ass...
I request every dev developing ROMS for this phone to complete your project before you move on to oreo...

Can you point me to the correct thread for this ROM. Can't seem to find the official one. Is it still in UNOFFICIAL status?
Also, does this ROM comes with CAF kernel? I see it mentioned in the change log in the ROM thread.
Also, I don't see any mention of underclock on the ROM thread. Did you underclock it yourself?
If so, will underclocking in AEX ROM give similar benefit of less heating?

How did you underclock the ROM? Using kernel auditor or it is underclocked by default or has some option to do so?
Hey everyone.
I used to have New Kernel installed and it had the best battery life but sadly it stopped updating
I'm right now on blu_spark and battery life is not as good as i want it.
So does anyone know any kernel with a great battery life? Thanks a lot!
I'm using redflare kernel with lower cpus freq because i'm not playing games. With this kernel i dont have lag with lower cpus freq.

I have started using Simple GX kernel and the battery life has been good. Only completed 1 battery cycle right now though so I'll report again
I have rooted my phone and I wanna overclock my gpu, but I don't know what app to use. I also wanna oc my CPU, if you know how, please tell me
As a phone doesn't have active cooling, this is generally unwise, as you'll rarely get significant performance gain while dealing with increased heat, which can be damaging. Custom kernels generally allow fine grained CPU and sometimes GPU control, but it's typically the opposite of overclocking - developers try to use the lowest voltages possible on the smallest cores while still maintaining decent performance, to reduce power consumption and extend battery life.

Yes, but I just want to maximize performance, I have two phones, and I want to overclock this one, so it's faster. I will take care of cooling. I don't care much about battery life, since it's not my daily driver. So what app should I use ?

You can't just use an app. You have to use a custom kernel, and the app used to control kernel parameters depends on the kernel.
"Stock" kernels are not modifiable via app.

I am not familiar with Redmi devices, so no. I would suggest looking through the various custom kernels here, and if the description of the kernel doesn't answer your question, ask in the threads. However, pursuant to Forum Rule #5, please don't post your questions more than once.
So what kernel and app should I use to oc it?
