Daydream VR for Nexus 5X? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When the pixel phone and the daydram view will be out, do you think we could port Daydream as we have Nougat?

Probably but I don't think it will work very well.

I think I read that IPS displays aren't fast enough to use VR . Daydream wants a minimum SD820, 4gb ram, low persistence display. http://www.androidauthority.com/google-daydream-vr-ready-phones-705245/

You saved me some typing. ^
I'll also add, it fits nicely in the ol' pants pocket.
Love at first touch!
My first Nexus device and I'm really liking it do far. I must admit I do miss some of the functionality of Touch Wiz. But this tablet is a beast and a feast for the eyes. Really looking testing the multimedia capabilities of the tab.
Yep.
Nice price.
Looks cool.
Its google. It'll get updates as long as it can run them.
Dev support is likely to be off the hook until the next one is released if not longer.
No. Never with any device will I ever be satisfied because I love to tweak. I will always need just a few more MHz, or a touch faster I/O, or Tablet UI. But this is a Very nice tablet for it's form factor

You'll get plenty of tweaking opportunities soon if this is anything like the first generation.

Sorry to be a little off topic, but can someone give their personal opinion compared to the ipad3? I've been using the ipad3 for a while now and its very responsive in a lot of ways, especially when using chrome. My galaxy s4 seem a tad bit slower on the touch in chrome, so I'm hoping the nexus 7 would be as good as the ipad while using chrome or other browsers.

Moto x features

Is it possible to have moto x features for our phone?
I hope so. Because it's almost the same phone specs wise and looks IMO.
And the features are software related.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
They're not though. It has a dedicated voice processor for the voice stuff and a low power processor for the notifications
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
No. The moto x has 8 cores. Ours only has 2. Every core on the moto x is used for something.

Works pretty well.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That is as close as we're gonna get with the features
I've got some reboots with active notifications...

ActiveNotifications was pretty useless to me, it drained my phone in about 8 hours which effectively is halfway during the day...
I tested it last week, not sure if it has anything to do with 4.3
The Moto X has a Qualcomm S4 SoC with X8 Computing, it beats our NP in every aspect even the AMOLED is RGB ours is PenTile. Except for the Nexus branding Moto X dominates our Nexus Prime .

I've been using ActiveNotifications for weeks and have seen no noticeable difference in battery life and it works flawlessly. On AOSPA 3.97 and Golden Kernel. Not sure why you are having issues. It's too bad, it's a great app.. :good:

Yep. me too. I'm using ActiveNotifications for a few weeks, can't get away from this. It's so awesome.
^^what he said
Active notifications hasnt given me any issues. I'm holding off on putting it back on my phone though until the developer gets some of the litle bugs worked out.
As far as other Moto X features, this works really well as the camera launching feature:

And this works pretty good for the always listening/Google now feature (still n early stages):

Theoretical question - Nexus 5X

A thought has just occurred to me.
The recent Nexus 5 rumours led me onto a thought train. According to some of the rumours we're seeing, the new Nexus 5 may well be, to all intents and purposes, a slightly different G4, with added fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C. The rumoured specs seem to show they share the same SoC (Snapdragon 808, Adreno 418), same RAM (3Gb), same camera sensor... etc.
Theoretically, if the new handset was to share these specifications and come with stock Android (as previous Nexus devices have done), would we be able to port that ROM across to our own devices, to essentially give us stock Android (obviously with work to unlock bootloaders, or a workaround)?
Nope! Not gonna happen. Nexus 5 x will be an affordable midrange device.

Except there was no nexus 5 port to lg g2. A nexus 5x ROM would make the g4 perfect though. If only we could keep the camera set up. Oh well. The 10N update helped alot with overall feel. So let's see what marshmallow does! Hopefully it's an improvement. If love to try a vanilla experience on here though. Imagine if that's what the marshmallow update was!!!? We don't need this skin LG.

I like the fact that the nexus5x is likely to have the snapdragon 808 as ours .. and marshmellow will lead to a good battery life with this processor! and i'm sure that battery improviment will be also on stock LG update

Nexus 5x vs samsung galaxy s6

Please give me opinion i have LG G3 but i want to change device and dont want to pay to much for latest flagships and whant to ask you guys what you think about this 2 phones. What you think about nexus 5x is it better phone over s6.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I prefer a Nexus over any other phone. Not for the design, not for the specs, ... Freedom is everything for me in a phone. Freedom to root, to unlock bootloader, to relock bootloader... and still with warranty. Plus, N5X has an incredible camera this year.
But is ois big problem can you focus easy ?

The camera is one of the 5x's best features. It focuses easily and pictures are taken effortlessly. At close distances (2m or less I believe) it uses laser auto focus such as your LG device.
Camera takes great pictures, but lacks support of recording [email protected] fps. This is an disadvantage comparing to G3.
It all depends what you like. If you like Samsung type devices with overlays then get the S6. If you like a wide variety of custom roms and kernels and all run wonderfully then get the Nex. I used to always get the latest flashship from Samsung back in the day and after experiencing Nexus and XDA I'm all Nex. In my opinion Nexus has the best devs and fact is roms run ALOT better on a Nexus vs anything else. Less bugs, no bugs. I've had many devices since Android began and I love my Nexus's more than any! Now they are making Nexus phones with beefed up specs and cameras. I'm happier than ever. ?
Ps: If I was you I'd wait a few more months and grab one of the next Nexus devices.

It will cost more the new nexus than this nexus 5x
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Stock Android (supported til end of 17) vs TouchWiz
plastic vs glass/metal build
S6 slightly more expensive than N5x (at least in Germany atm)
comparable hardware specs and quality incl camera
I think both devices are different enough to make a decision if you answer what's more important for you.
I want to ask about the birtgtness about nexus 5x is it good for sunlight in day because on lg g3 its a litbe bit hard to see.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA-Developers mobile app
And are picture taken form nexus are blurry because dont have OIS ? I mean he cant focus fast and maybe sometimes pic are blury because missing ois.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA-Developers mobile app
It's not the brighest of all displays, but it's alright. Comes down to what you want to do with it in bright sunlight.
I only miss OIS when recording 4k vids, there's no way for me to get them shake-free unless using a tripod or resting the phone somewhere. Rest of the time there are no problems. There's also a hack to enable EIS on the N5x (it's a N6p feature, but they share camera), needs root though iirc.
Is nexus 5x with android N a beast or no.I think the s6 will be best choice and for sure it will be updated to android N the s6.

If you don't care about root (Verizon S6 doesn't have root past lollipop) and just want a solid reliable basic phone, I would go with the S6. I have both and the S6 is my daily driver. Main reason is I am on Verizon and they don't really support unlocked devices and when i tried my Nexus it was dropping calls. However, i didn't put any effort to make it better. I'm on my Nexus flashing all the time and i need my S6 in case I get a phone call. Nexus however is far more fun and I would get rid of my S6 before I got rid of my Nexus.
I want phone with nice and smooth performance and nice camera and i hope s6 will get android N btw i will buy international s6.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I have just exchanged from a unlocked s6 to the nx5, best move I have ever contemplated and done. I have until getting a gs6 always been a Nexus fan, from a Nexus one all the way till a Nexus 5 they have always been the device that suits me. Until the s6 came out with the new shiny glass casing I thought well this new device needs a try ? god I was so wrong to take the GS route the software is SH-IT! I rapidly traded my device back to a N5X and have never looked back ??
But for sure s6 will have better performance than nexus 5x

We actually have a mod that enables 60fps 1080p video. I tested it and works.
However there is a considerable bug. Using this mod, we cannot record slow motion
video. Neither 120fps nor 240 fps.
