Hi. I ordered a galaxy nexus for my brother from expansys and received it today. The screen on it is not nearly as good as the one on my own device. The colors are really washed out and the greys are green. It seems like the gamma is really turned up. I rooted and flashed aokp and tried adjusting the colors and gamma but if you try lowering the green gamma settings, the whole screen turns green. Is there anything I can do? If not, Does anyone have any experience doing exchanges with expansys? I'll unroot and relock the phone of course. Any help would be appreciated

I had one with a washed out screen as well. Return it, it is defective.

I have had one like that, too

Thanks for the replies. I'll contact them. Did any of you buy one from expansys? Just want to know how they are with this stuff

i would definitely try to exchange it, if you can't then use a kernel with gamma control such as leankernel or glados (which i'm currently using), adjustable by editing sys/devices/platform/omapdss/manager0/gamma
mine has the washed out screen issue and editing gamma to 7 or higher makes it much better looking, but not perfect (still a lot of purple at low brightness)
Please refer to the defective screen sticky in the Q&A section, that can be found here, or one of the other threads in the General section already discussing screen defects.
Hello guys. Today appeared a dead pixel near to my menu button. I downloaded a bunch of programs from the market to try to fix it. The problem is that the navigation bar won't disappear in order to try to fix it. Do you guys know any problem that fits the full screen? Best regards

Doubt you'll be able to fix hardware problems with software.

It's possible. Sometimes the pixel isn't completely dead, only stuck

Find a mod to remove nav bar, backup, flash, test pixel fix, restore. Shouldn't be hard to find one or a ROM with it included.

Unfortunately when a screen goes bad, it's bad.
Stuck pixels can be fixed; however, they're usually red, green, or blue. Dead pixels are black and cannot be fixed.

So I've found something strange. When I have a black or blue background I can see the dirty dead/stuck pixel cyan coloured.
However, when I have a white, red or green background, the pixel disappears!
What's happening?

Ok guys, suddenly it turned normal... Lol thanks

I hear you man...
Just discovered my stuck pixel on my 3-day old GN... that moment felt like swallowing a cactus.
Mine is cyan too but only visible under red, white, and yellow... quite the opposite of your case.
Google search says gentle rubbing (with a stylus or pencil eraser), color flashes (Dead Pixel Detect and Fix, but could make it worst), and/or time will fix it. Good luck.
I ran DPDF for about 5 min and didnt fix it.
At this point I actually feel pretty serene about it.
Meh.
Update: I'll send my phone to warranty. I hope they replace the display and I hope it's quick. Thanks for all your suggestions

I was just wondering if anyone else is having this problem... The white area where my music controls are has burned in.. I am running a fixer now but it is kind of annoying seeing music controls on everything.

I have lot of burn in on my GNex Screen.
It is 11 months old. Have this on all my AMOLED Phones. Blue OLEDS dies faster.
Need new one!
ahhhh bummer.... all well i am out of contract waiting for either the note 2 or the nexus 2....

how are you guys burning these?! do you set it to never turn off display while charging? i had a nexus s for like a year, then my g-nex in april. never seen this happen. just curious if you guys just got bad screens or abusing them.
Pro tip: This is covered under warranty.

I got screen burn too! I read other people have had warranty replacements because of this issue. I'm going to get a warranty replacement also then sell it LOL use the money for a new phone.

According to this thread over here, there is conflicting information on this being covered under warranty. Which is why id prefer to see official documentation on this
.

i could attach a photo with the papers, or you can take my word for it: it's covered by warranty. i've bought my phone and the next day it was in service 'cause the screen was burned like hell. new screen, no payment, me happy.

I called and they said my burn in was covered..... they just needed to see my phone and make sure the water triggers weren't tripped. which they are
ARGH WTF..... they totally get out of warranty because of it... BS totally different issue that doesn't even effect the phone.

You could always use some white out so they won't be able to tell.

What???? The water indicators have little red X's on them, which smear when they contact water or high moisture. What would white out do?
Edit: and for future reference, is there a place to purchase these stickers? I've read a few other products that had their water indicators tripped for no apparent reason (MacBooks... but I don't own one!)
Edit 2: there are a bunch of housings on eBay that come with the water indicators. Perhaps you could try those if you don't mind dis/re-assembling. BTW, are there any other warranty indicators on this phone besides the water stickers?

No, but they replaced mine free of charge because of ghosting.

almost all AMOLED panels have burn-in issue. its a big issue here in Korea.
There definetively are som issues with the screen. After making my GN 'fullscreen' I noticed the black area where the softkeys used to be is having a more bluish hue. I believe this is to the rest of the screen aging differently because of the screentype AMOLED (super). Taking this into account it wouldnt surprise me if the screen is getting burnins etc

All this hassle is probably not worth it for me... I am out of contract and trying to figure out which new phone to buy. The note 2 or the nexus 4. I am planning on using my old nexus as a dedicated music player and GPS for my car though.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
The only burn in I have is from my nav bar, and statues bar, can't do much about those!
I have status bar burn in as well. Hard to see unless the screen is fully black.
I don't know if mine is defective or not. But the color isn't pure white from what I see on the nexus 4 in videos. I think it should be the same right?
Its more of a yellowish tint?
There is no spec on the color of the light, and what the nexus 4 does is irrelevant. If it lights up at the right time it is fine.

People are honestly finding every last thing that they can to complain about this tablet. Did you buy the tablet to look at the notification light, or to actually use the tablet?

I kinda agree with what you say, except that when you buy something "expensive", your expectations are high and you want something perfect (i don't own the nexus 7 so i don't know how should it be) but if the led isn't showing the right color, it's something to care about, though it's a small defect..
I also see what you're saying, but like the poster above me said, there is no specification on the notification light, so there isn't much you can do. Some people have notification LEDs that don't even work apparently. Since the reality is that this generation seems to be having many build quality issues, it doesn't seem like it's worth taking the chance to return it, even though OP probably can't over this issue anyway.

Lol, I could say that people are honestly finding every last way to justify the crappy build quality of this device...

Is that supposed to qualify as a useful post? At least I tried to provide some actual information in mine.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Mine is more eggshell white but remember its only a ~$200 tablet and LG probably uses different LEDs that may be tuned to a more brilliant white
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It's funny I didn't even know I had a notification light until one day I left my tablet sitting there and got a notification while the screen was off. So I believe it only works when when screen is off it's the only time I've seen it go off.... It's on the bottom of the screen right under the button bar (back, home, and recents button). I have been flashing ROMs, kernels, modifying my system to my liking, and trying different things so I never even noticed the light lol.

The color is shown because Note 7 is most known for it. How could it not be, most other phones only come in lame old boring colors. Pixel XL is trying to put blue on it but only at the back where it won't be seen. The Coral Blue is spectacular. It was the most beautiful phone at the market. I hope the KEEP it for next phones!!
