Has anyone else noticed the the back button on the Mi Max is slightly dimmer lit than the other two buttons? It's especially noticeable in darker daytime conditions.
From images I have seen on the net it appears that all Mi Max phones have a slightly dimmer back button. Like this picture below.

I thought mine was defective and wanted to check, is everyone's like this?
Yes mine is too. I don't care though as I always turn them lights off permanently.
Yep, all maxes are like that... bad design I guess.
Same here mate.. Mine too.. No problems for me..

Thank you for all the replies. Good to know it's not just mine! I think they use 2 LED's across 3 buttons. Just a shoddy design decision I guess.
I must be lucky but mine all seem the same!

No, i actually dont think it is a design or a hardware flaw. Actually it is a rom feature or to the likingness of the the MIUI rom designers. If you flash a CM rom, all buttons are lit properly again.

I wanna know wich one because I haven't seen any CM with all 3 buttons leds equal
If you flash Resurrection Remix 5.7.3 rom, all buttons are lit properly again.
All of mine are the same on RR 5.7.3.
If it's MIUI software related then it's very odd that Xiaomi would have done that on purpose because it looks like a flaw. It might be a bug that they haven't noticed or addressed as no other 3 button phones from them have had a dimmer back button.
It's miui SW. I have 2 ones same as yours other mi max has brighter back button then home or resent buttons. I know it's miui software issue because I have my phone encrypted and when I reboot all three buttons are as bright as the sun please fix

I didn't get that... What the encryption has to do with that?
Let's get more technical here... First all three buttons leds are controlled by the kernel which reads brightness value from /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness file and can be anywhere from 0 to 40. Take a note it is only one file for all 3 buttons. So they should be all the same brightness. Except kernel does something and applies different value to some button, supplying different voltage. Which means all 3 buttons are in separate circuit complicating the design. And complicated design is more expensive so you need a really good reason to do it.
Now tell me what purpose will serve to have one or two buttons brighter? I can't think of any. And if that is the case why is only one file with brightness level for all 3 buttons!?
My point is it must be hardware design flow that drops the voltage to the 3td led or something, or bad leds batch...
And it makes sense with that low price for our phones to save money somewhere.
When/if we get kernel sources we will know the truth...
When the phone is encrypted and you're rebooting the 3 lites come on with maximum power Then on all three There and they are all very bright so there not broke. Also like I said on one of mine the the back button is far brighter then the other 2 buttons . I will just turn them off until there's a update
How can i add pics? Tha ks

I do know that LEDs have a specific forward voltage, e.g. 3.3V, however, if you try to run LEDs at lower voltages then it works to varying degrees based on the quality of the LED.
So if the LEDs were in a serial circuit and the 0-40 was equivalent to voltages of 3-4V, for instance, then the voltage would drop the further around the circuit it went.
So, for arguments sake, if the back button is last of the three LEDs in the circuit, then the brightness of it would be much more uncertain because you may be under-running the voltage on that final LED which means it is completely dependent on the quality of that LED chip.
With my device, I have had a good look at it and all the buttons seem equally well lit which may mean that I was lucky and the quality of the LED under the back button was a good one and so it doesnt suffer from dimness.
This may explain it better:

Interesting
But some mi max back button are brighter then home and resent buttons I'm sure there's a fix or it can be fixed one mi max is fine now after updating this one's still like it was tho and
My Mi Max doesn't have that problem. All buttons are equally lit to the same degree. It has been uniform when I bought it with the vendor ROM installed and has remained the same (uniformly lit) when I flashed the official global ROM. I suspect it's a hardware issue, one which is likely a fallout from Xiaomi's cutting corners to keep costs low. If you notice, the touchscreen also is not as accurate as say the one on Huawei Mate 7 or 8. Slightly diagonal swipes (intended to be vertical) are sometimes registered as horizontal instead of vertical. Also short, quick horizontal swipes sometimes do not register; you have sometimes to drag your finger over a longer horizontal distance to register the next page gesture. This is very noticeable when viewing for themes online or scrolling up or down the gmail sidebar.
Both came with vendor rooms on one had dim back button but once flashed 8 official global Rom the lights on my 1st mi max are perfect. The other one had brighter back button and flashing it didn't help or change it

So maybe it's a mixed software and hardware issue...
I like to know how things work so it's interesting the Samsung had a app to adjust the led power I can't find any apps that work on mi max yet

We can adjust brightness if that's what you mean, just not for individual buttons.
It is even possible that the glass transparency is not the same for the buttons. How about that...

It would be great if somebody can test it, thanks in advance.
How to test:
put a camera in front of the screen and play around with the shutter speed and the brightiness of the screen. When lines appears on the screen, its not good => pwm, without lines => good :good:
edit: i had links for pwm explanation, but not enough posts, sorry..
The question is about pulse width modulation, which I'm reading occurs when both of the following are true:
- you are using an LED light source with variable brightness
- you are using a camera with a rolling shutter
http://provideocoalition.com/aadams/story/pulse_width_modulation_is_not_your_friend/
The camera on the note 8 does not have an LED flash, so I think the poster either now knows that it won't be an issue, or is curious as to whether display brightness on the screen is controlled by pulse width modulation or a different technique.
In the latter case, I don't know, and since this is stuff that can't be seen by the eye nor in the viewfinder, but mostly in photo editing suites per the article I link to, I'm not sure why it's an issue here.
Hi roustabout
I think we dont speak about the same topic.
What I mean is the flickering of the display. A good example is found on youtube: Nexus 7: no PWM on LCD
A lot of LCD use this technology to dim, but its not proper dimming, just switch on / switch off the the lcd very quickly.
Some people have problem with this flickering but dont know that theres a problem, so for example dry eyes, getting tired very fast when working on the computer..
I think more the 95% of the usual monitors use this technique.
I hope this helps.
no, we're talking about the same thing:
'curious as to whether display brightness on the screen is controlled by pulse width modulation or a different technique.'
The article I found thinks it's not visible; what you've read or experienced suggests it's problematic.
What I can say is the first-gen ipad was very hard on my eyes; the note 8 is not like that, but not as good as e-ink. Much more fun than e-ink, though!

what things use a proximity sensor? never heard of it
You using an Otterbox? I only ask because it can cause headaches with the proximity sensor, but it's an easy fix.

I got another one; are you using a screen protector at all?
I'm starting to be pretty sure the S4 got shipped with a bad batch of proximity sensors.
Mine has suddenly failed as well with no case or screen protector or any of that kind of thing involved.
Same story as everyone else who has this problem. The sensor reads as though it's being covered 100% of the time, so as soon as the phone.apk is initated and looks for the sensor value, it says the sensor is covered and blacks out the phone. Nothing brings the screen back on until the call ends.
I searched around Google and found quite a few message boards with various people describing the same exact problem.
I have tried various things to fix it.
I have cleaned the glass thoroughly to no avail.
I have tried the sensor recalibration from this thread . But that did nothing.
I installed this app from the Play store. That was very interesting because it tells me how long it has been since the sensor was last uncovered, and that value grows indefinately as long as the app is on. Meaning the sensor never reads as uncovered.
I even tried to mask the problem by getting apps that are supposed to keep the screen on during calls but they also fail.
I'm going to Odin back to stock tonight and see if that helps, but I think I've got hardware failure. Mainly because this started to go downhill over a couple weeks where the screen off during calls slowly started to work worse and worse until now when it just totally locks me out.
If I have to get this phone replaced and they send me a refurbished one I'm going to be super pissed. I had to do that with a MyTouch4G with T Mobile and that was an absolute nightmare. Every replacement phoen they sent me had a different defect, and then they had the freakin' nerve to try to charge me $10 each time they sent me a refurbished phone. So I had what was basically a defective brand new phone that was 2 months old that they wanted me to pay $60 more to be replaced with a used phone.
Well I called T-Mobile they send me a new GS4 and it works perfect

Yeah I just called about mine too and they are sending a new one.
Just kind of annoys me that I spent full price on a new phone 2 months ago and now I will have a refurbished one despite paying full price. Especially since this is the second time this has happened with a new phone from them.
Does yours seem and look like new?

That sucks! Did they really send you a refurb? When my wife broke her screen and we went through insurance, we got a brand new one which amazed me -- it means we got an extra battery sand stuff.
I'm having the SAME problem with my M919 now. I thought I was going crazy over the last week being unable to hang up calls (can't get the screen on!) or dial codes mid-call.
I ended up recalibrating the sensor by doing this procedure directly on the sysfs stuff: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045569&page=2
It works now but I see now why it failed initially -- there's a TON of dust under the glass right over the proximity sensor! Needless to say, I am getting it replaced under warranty because that's just not cool at all. I've had this one for 2 months, tops.
It was weird, CPU-Z was showing the sensor as dead but when I was reading the state over sysfs it seemed to actually be doing something, indicating to me the calibration was way off.
Well, at least I don't have to be bothered with the sensor problem for now as I wait for my (BACKORDERED!) RMA...
EDIT: Oh and it's doing somethng fun. I flashed a nightly a few days ago and it wouldn't boot until I later decided to reflash + wipe cache. OK, that was weird because no one else had to. Well, earlier I turned it off and when I turned it back on, same deal! Had to go into recovery and wipe cache.
I'm starting to get disappointed with the build quality on both the S3 and S4. My (retired) S3 has the most "fun" problem -- its eMMC likes to get corrupted periodically. It doesn't manifest as problems while running (no file corruption that I can tell), but if I ever have to Restore Backup, it usually fails and then I have to not only fsck it in recovery mode but usually do some other tricks like remove the duplicate lost+found inode and use the alternate superblock with fsck (fsck -b 32768).
i have had a replacement device now for about 2 months. the proximity sensor worked for about 2 weeks before failing again. There is clearly an issue. i am going to try a 3rd device or ask for a different device entirely.

Just as a test, do this:
using the stock dialer, enter *#0*#
then when the menu pops up, hit "Sensor" square.
then place your palm with an open hand about 2.5 inches away from the top right front area where the sensor is located. Yhe upper area of the screen should turn green, and also should vibrate.
if that test passes, then the sensor is not the problem.
I've seen a lot of places that indicate the proximiy sensor is prone to failing due to dust build up. This is often be solved by using compressed air shot into the speaker grill on the front to un-foul the sensor.
It might not save every phone with a failing sensor, but it can't hurt to try and I've seen a couple people say it was an instant cure.
I don't think you evne have to be able to see the dust for it to cause fouling. Just a spec or two can mess it all up. But the compressed air cleans it right out.
Check if fast dormancy is enabled
I had the same problem after installing Crash ROM v13, my phone was working fine with JB 4.2.2, the only thing I changed after flashing the new rom was "fast dormancy", after trying different configurations what I did was to toggle back fast dormancy to enabled and now my screen and proximity sensor works perfectly fine.
It also could be related with the kernel, I'm using Perseus Kernel, I was using Adam Kernel previously.
proximity sensor fix
I had same problem and i fix The problem in both of my s4 .buy the air spray and spray in earplug for about 20 sec .and try it will work
I'm having the same issue, did this test and it turns green and vibrate but never turns off when I remove my hand....I've been checking around and people have said it is an issue with dirt/lint getting through the speaker grate and gathering on top of the sensor. I tried some compressed air and it resolved the issue for a short time. Seems like the only real fix would be to pull the screen and add something to block the opening between the sensor area and the speaker grate.

Recently I have been searching for solutions to fix my i9505 from. the screen going black when i make a phone call. I had posted a work around recently... This has been working for me but in order ive had to get rid of my lock screen...
Well I think I may of found a solution to my problem and for what I can v see many others. So no more blowing you're sensors clear with air...
ALL U NEED-
an awesome custom ktoonsez kernel and the KTWEAKER
Open kteeaker app which comes included in KT kernel. Go to mainsetting/wakesleepsetting then proximity setting and alter the value. Easy as that.
WITH IN K TWEAKER APP KT HAS ADDED OPTION TO TEST AND MODIFY YOUR PROXIMITY SENSOR.
ONE OF MY PHONES WAS SET TO 43 OUT OF 255, AN THE OTHER WAS SET TO 8 WHICH I ASSUME AS DEFAULT BUT JUST INCASE I SET TO (1), NOW BLACK SCREEN WON'T GO ON TILL U NEARLY TOUCH THE SENSOR THEN SCREEN COME BACK ON AS SOON AS U PULL AWAY.... AS IT'S SUPPOSED TO....
HOPEFULLY This will help some of you.!!!
All credits to ktoonsez!!
PS. If you don't know how to do it don't.... Confirmed. This worked for me.
I had the same problem. Cleaning it had no effect; THIS however DID fix it!!

i9100 proximity sensor doesn't work
Hi to all!
I have the issue with proximity sensor and didn't manage to find a solution in other similar threads!
The matter is that it is always stay as Released.
In the same time in test screen (*#0*#) there are changing reading for PROXIMITY parameter from 2 up to 240 with no ADC parameter at all. Please look for screenshots. PROXIMITY parameter changes its value when I move my finger in front of the sensor, but as I can understand Android doesn't recognize it because of ADC absence.
Moreover I tried to change proximity sensor for working one (from another phone), but it shows the same as mine (with no ADC readings).
After all I think it is software problem, but I don't know how to solve it. I flashed different firmwares (now it is XWMSE NeatROM v.6.4), but nothing helped.
Please assist! Thanks!
so i am curious ... share your expeience thus far with the zenfone2 as well as tell us what do you guys hate most about it?
i just picked up a new shiny zenfone 2, the 4G/32G model, Z00A/ZE551ML model for $270.
of course right off the bat i unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, and installed TWRP. after which i put on a custom ROM ... i am still messing between BlissPop and Resurrection-Remix. Both are based on Cyanogenmod and are great with customization options. especially the fact that i can change my DPI to 400 and everything looks so beautiful. if you change to one of them make sure you pick a DARK theme. Darker themes charge the battery less.
So now what do i hate about my phone?
Well, this is a tough one. Its nice that we have top of the line hardware and such however the CPU being an Atom/x86 maybe our loved/hated part. ya its quick but the device gets hot quite often.
Then we have a minor issue that i am hating. I wish the capacitive buttons were on-screen instead of being static as they are now. The line separator between the screen and the buttons also tends to pickup dirt quite frequently and you have dirt stuck there.
I also dislike the curvy back although it makes it easy to hold it is not flat when put on a table ...
please share....
I hate camera battery and the design
My hates for this phone (ZE551ML Z00A 4GB/64GB Z3580)
On stock software:
SMS issues, workarounds are unacceptable to me
Still Android 5.0.0
On CM based ROMS:
Bluetooth audio lag and random failures until restart
Hardware:
Camera is useless in anything but bright sunlight.
Power save controls could be more fine-grained.

Tips for Taking a Fashion Shot - ZenFone | ASUS
To be honest for the most part I've enjoyed using this phone. I have the 4GB RAM/32GB internal storage North American model and it's been decent so far. I came from a Nexus 4 that I had for about 2.5 years and switched to this phone when it came out in North America in late May. I don't mod a lot, I've only rooted (so I can run stuff like Adaway, Cerberus Anti-Theft, and Xposed Framework) and that's it. I've considered unlocking my bootloader to get a permanent custom recovery (which I did with the Nexus 4) but I can live with a tethered recovery (just so I can flash a zip when needed) if I wanna be able to have an OTA update without issue. Yes, I know you can just flash new firmware updates without just waiting for an OTA update but I'd rather just let the OTA hit.
As others have said, the camera is kinda crappy but I don't really take a lot of photos in general so it's not a big deal breaker for me. Yes there's a lot of bloatware but I've just disabled stuff I don't use either via settings or a 3rd party app. The phone is a tad bit on the heavy side but that's just minor griping. The regular firmware updates have been nice though I'm still waiting for them to push Android version 5.1 even (though they have at least confirmed Marshmallow for the Zenfone2 so that's a good sign).

Or better :
Well... Missing accessory, so native hardware... Dreaming.
you get what you pay for.
i paid $270 dollars for the 32G/3GigRam unit.
you can always use onscreen navigation bar ...
Battery life & screen not bright enough under sunlight (using lux light app helped cranking up the brightness a bit more). Oh, and I HATE where they placed the speaker!
I almost pulled the trigger on a galaxy note 5 dual sim this past weekend, but I've decided to wait a bit and see what's coming in the next few months, the note 5 is missing too many features.
Camera seems fine, I've taking some very nice pictures using manual settings, but I hated this phone when I was in Orlando while shooting video in the afternoon where it was hot outside (late October). The phone kept on recording at a very low framerate and it didn't even save the videos for some reason.
I'd say the things I hate about this device are the small details.
The fact that the led has only 3 colors and cannot be customized;
The horrible audio jack (even for a smartphone standard);
Battery life is an issue, but can be fixed (Project T kernel was a life saver in stock kernel, still looking what I can do in CM based ROMs);
The compatibility issues we have due to the x86 architecture.
I do love this phone, but sometimes these things really annoy me.
After coming from a Xiaomi mi3w I just have to say so far this phone is pretty amazing. I don't ever use the camera so the camera is better than I need it to be for the few times I use it a year. The battery problems I see everybody complaining about baffles me as I own 3 mid range priced phones and this 1 has close to the best battery life with similar usage.
Xiaomi mi3w: 4-5 hrs sot with 1 day uptime
2nd most expensive device
ASUS ZenFone 2: 5.5-6 hrs sot with 1 day uptime
cheapest device
oneplus two: 5.5-6.5 hrs sot with 1 day uptime
most expensive device
The things that annoy me are
1. Asus has poor rom development for keeping you updated.
2. Horrible place to put a speaker.
3. Hardware keys can not be swapped and I'm use to my back button on the right and my menu button I the left.
4. You can't reassign functions to the hardware keys. They should also be backlit.
5. They don't use any type of hotplug to unplug cores with 0 zero load to save to power.
6. Glitches in their keyboard while typing sometimes taking me back to previous paragraphs or the last typed words if I try and correct a mistake made earlier. Just a buggy keyboard in general.
7. Micro stutters in certain apps like browser and tapatalk due to an inefficient kernel or os.

I only hate the battery and the issue that you can´t change the sms ringhtone.
Hi,
I've seen many people making threads out if hardware issues, so I thought about making a roll-up sticky thread (if mods agree with it) about them.
In my case, I'm experiencing 2 really irritating ones that made me contact Razer Support already, currently waiting for an answer.
Whenever my phone hits 100% of battery, the phone stops detecting the charger (probably to avoid killing the battery, which okay, it's nice), but then after just 1 single second, it detects it again. In loop. This is the second time I let my phone charge overnight and I fear my screen will burn because of this, since there's no option to avoid the screen to turn in when charger is plugged in.
Also, in the 4 days I've had it, in a random moment of time whenever I'm just using my phone for WhatsApp, or Chrome, and I transition to another app while the previous app was handling the camera, I can see my screen freezing with a few colourful stripes all over it, on the left hand side most of them. After that happens, 1/4 of the times it happened I managed to get it working again, the rest 3/4 my screen turned off after that and, don't ask how but even though the panel is off, it detects touch input, and the only way to turn it back on is a force reboot pressing all three buttons in the device.
Shall I request an exchange unit? I've had this one for 4 days and idk how normal this is.
NFC hardly ever worked and when it did each terminal said I was trying to use 2 cards at once
Speaker grill at the bottom was lifting off
FP scanner stopped working had to do 5 factory reset and rub the scanner with a wipe constantly to get it to work again
Charger was making very bad buzzing noises when charging (this was completely replaced by razer in have the replacement already)
RMAd to razer (after a fight with Three) was a green one had to get a silver one :/ it's en route to razer ATM so using a Stupid wileyfox phone to get by and it's driving me nuts. I swear if they say the speaker grill was damaged by me and thus the cause I'll freak! Buying the phone was a pain in the ass enough just for it to be a crappy model.
Thinking bout selling it and getting a different phone when it comes back but I'm still torn as everything else was perfect for me.

If you still see NFC issues with the new unit you get, it would be cool if you could drop me a bug report zip, I would take a look.

If I decide to keep the device I will indeed Alex :good:
I had these horrible lines in my screen and the bottom speaker was messed up. I RMA'd and they fixed the speaker but the lines are still there just not as obvious.
I'm sending my unit back due to vibration motor issues. Besides that it seems good.
@TheCrazyLex, mind having a look at this (that's 1/2 of my issues):

Dunno if kernel related due to graphics drivers or actual HW issue. Support team considers it's hardware so I'm currently in terms of RMAing my unit. Want a logcat/dmesg of it? Happens specifically when there's a transition between apps, or when using the camera. Sometimes it happens to hang my phone right after those blue/green stripes appear, on the others hitting the home button restores the device back to it's normal state.

I think it's a hardware issue because one of the two dsi lane communication failed.

Yep that looks like a hardware issue, no logs should be needed here.
I hope the RMA process will be quick for you!
Alex
Right now I've had 2 issues.
1. The vibration motor is extremely rattly, especially when the phone is on vibrate or double tap power to open the camera.
2. I've got a stuck pixel at the top of the screen and a dead pixel at the bottom, along Whit what appears the screen ever so faintly flickering. I'm currently in contact with Razer to see what they can do about it.
Edit: I've just had a group of dead pixels form at the bottom of the screen a few days ago. I contacted Razer and they are going to do an RMA on it.
I guess mine is more software but the phone app keeps crashing.
I loved my Razer phone, I really did but had a few critical issues which led me to sell.
Vibration motor was week, kinda like a rattle but I think thats with everyone phone. Couldn't feel it in my pocket.
NFC was terrible, took me 10 attempts at a local Tesco to find the right spot, other places it just wouldn't work.
Screen was a tad too dim while using it as a satnav, probably more of my placement of the phone holder but the sun glare would always hit the screen making the viewing really hard.
I'd still recommend the phone though, great device but just for my usuage I couldn't cope.

I had a speaker issue with the first razer phone where the bottom speaker was distorted and top speaker was fine, then sent it in got a replacement phone and now the top speaker is having issues. Its not distorted but it is less louder and has less quality then the other speaker. Plus i used a noise generator app to test it and i started to smell a little bit of burning coil from the top speaker. I will send it in and get another one and hopefully its not messed up. The main reason to why i have not yet rooted is because i wanna make sure the speakers are fully functional. In my opinion these speakers shpuld not break under 3 weeks. Can you guys run some tests to see if your phones speakers have the same issue? Thanks. I love the phone btw. So good.
Had the phone 6 days and the speaker grills are lifting, gutted isn't the word
When I use the phone in landscape mode (with volume buttons on the bottom) the sound coming from speakers are inverted. Does anyone have the same issue?
Micro SD card only works in FAT32 file system, I formated to original exfat the SanDisk 400GB came with and phone said "unsupported file system, need format" I'm fine with fat32 but just 4GB file limit I don't like even phone itself uses exfat file system as u loaded 8gb file to phone from PC, I'm talking with customer support about this but no luck they just go around and say "did I reset phone" or did I tried micro sd card as internal storage, I tried, no way to put file then as nor pc nor file manager sees micro sd then, and internal storage is about 250mb read and 100mb write, while micro sd is about 80mb read and 60mb write on SanDisk A1 400gb micro sd ps. Card works on Xperia z and Xperia Z2 with exfat file system just fine

No exfat support for micro sd is still bigger issue than stereo reverse since, not deal breaker but can't load 1080p bluray movie which is 16gb in size even I have 400gb micro sd card - limited to 4gb by out dated fat32
Hi !
I am new owner of the Xiaomi Mi A3.
I am generally satisfied with the smartphone, it is a success in design, autonomy (3 days) and performance. Last security update for July 2019.
Regarding photos, I quickly installed Gcam, offering great shots, certainly below the level of a pixel 3a but more than enough to indulge and try the photography "Artistic".
The only defect for me is the colorimetry of the screen Oled, concerning the resolution HD + it does not bother me because I gain in performance and battery life.
At the brightness of the screen, it is not as catastrophic as what the test articles say. It stays 80% of usable time (unless you live in a desert with the sun beating on it or in Norway during the midnight sun ^^)
My expectations : - Access to Android Beta 10 - Update to correct the colorimetry (my expectation will be important) -
Thanks
Can you please post some gcam shots?

Concerning Bluetooth I have no particular problem but I happened to have difficulties when I connected the phone to my hands-free kit for my car sometimes when I call the bluetooth remained blocked on the phone call and not not sent back to the hands-free kit.
about gcam it optimizes and improves enormously the quality of photos

I attached 3 photos of the same (very) low light picture, one Stock Cam, one Stock with nightmode and one GCAM (for RMN7) with nightmode.
I think the GCAM one is the best, but in GCAM I can set resolution only the 12MP... So, I think, the quality will improve with a version made for MI A3....

The problem with Bluetooth is smart Lock....paired the phone with car again and not activate smart Lock works fine now but not smart unlock... I can live with that

The screen is fine, I like it.
In terms of Bluetooth, there's definitely something wrong with it:
-Random disconnects
-Loss of quality
-unable to pair until reboot
-mi band gets double notifications
- can't pass audio from calls or YouTube to Bluetooth even tough the headset button appears
The quick solution has been to enable airplane mode for a few seconds and usually works again.
These problems only started after the July update
So you guys don't have an issue with the PenTile matrix on the screen at all?

Sincerely most of time not... But sometimes with some font types I can see pixels but I love the size of phone and Android one and cameras... If they put full HD panel this phone will sell as water in summer

Screen quality
I think that the problem of the screen is not really its resolution instead I chose this smartphone because it had a lower resolution and allow with the OLED to consume much less battery. In fact this smartphone and perfect except on one point, the colorimetry that is not adjustable and deserves to be adjusted, the brightness of the slab that in my opinion is much too low for a product of 2019. Even the Galaxy J with their low resolutions have much brighter and flashy screens. I ask myself if the screen has not been restrained in terms of brightness to optimize performance and autonomy. It would be a dream to learn that by updating it would be possible to increase brightness by 20%. Xiaomi if you hear me and if it's possible technically thank you to offer us a more accurate colorimetry in the next updates and if possible try to boost a little more the brightness of the screen even if it is only 10 %.

You can calibrate screen colors activating the option in developer mode.
Where? Which option is that - sRGB? I dont have any calibration available

There no option to calibrate the color yet for this phone. What you have in the developer option is just to simulate color space. Ohhh that sRGB option, it is useless cause it will turn off after you have exit the developer option...
Completely agree.
People complaining about Mi A3 while using phones with batteries that don't last not even a full day...
Low resolution + AMOLED + 4030mAh = 3 day battery, and people just don't get that...
I also tried the camera's Night Mode, well it's not a miracle but it does its job, still better than regular mode.
People were also complaining about video stability and well, not sure if some update fixed it or anything but I can't complain at all, it's ok I guess.
I heard also a few complaints about the small brightness range, well coming from A2 Lite I can't say I noticed any difference...
Coming from a Moto G6 (which followed a Lenovo P2), I just can't complain! After a week of use, I'm really satisfied with it. The difference between the 1080x2160p Moto G6 Screen and the 720x1560p is sometimes perceptible but I can easily live with it.
How about the speed of the fingerprint scanner? In the video's I see it unlocking within a second, but still they say it is slow.
Is this also underrated?
I have one question, how is the screen brightness in low light? I read it goes lowest on 15 nits, which sounds too much.

It's decent, unlocking takes no more no less than one second for me. I've compared the speed with the galaxy A50 and A3 finger print scanner is definitely faster

Yes in low lights I have to admit that the brightness is too high ! At the moment we can't go lower than 14 nits. The max luminosity is under the average in this range but enough for me
I've has for a period HTC u11 which went lowest ar 7 nits and often found it too high.
Was looking for a device to second my MI9, maybe I'll go for Redmi Note 7 instead, or maybe wait for a while until a solution for this is found.
I have the A3 now since a week, comming from a Pixel 2.
Fingerprintreader is horrible slow for me, compared to the pixel.
The camera is also slow, it takes ages to get it started, and two pictures in a row taking there is a 2 second (or more) wait time.
I am aware that the pixel 2 was a flagship phone, still two years later the pergormance should be more or less the same.
I love the battery life tho... I run out of power before the A3 does
