Hi does any of you suffer lagging issues from live wallpaper? when i slide between my home screens the animation halt and then resume a second later. the best part is there is no beam in my phase beam wallpaper, lol?

Im suspecting its the Tegra 3 causing the trouble. My tablet with tegra 2 also suffers from lags with live wallpaper

Or the 3D-effect which still also sense 4 have? Since I have this effect on my old desire (with sense 3.5), the live wallpapers stops when I slide the homescreens. And the desire have surely no Tegra
That's likely because the CPU is doing the rendering. The Tegra 3 GPU is better suited for such tasks.
Android Revolution HD rom for the One X should not have such issues since CPU rendering is entirely disabled and all rendering done via the GPU.
In future, we should be able to do this without flashing a ROM as long as you have root. Anyone know which value to edit to disable CPU rendering?
I think this is caused by Sene... Same on sense 3.0, 3.5 & 3.6... Same wallpaper i am using on my Transformer works smooth.

GPU 2D Rendering cannot be enabled...so can't test it...
This is a feature of sense, nothing to do with the Tegra, it was implemented by HTC, if a AOSP rom is built for the One X then it won't have this "feature"
I forced GPU rendering and GPU UI rendering on my One X. Does not solve this problem.
I agree. This is a HTC sense problem. Probably due to the Carousel effect. Finding a way to modify Rosie.apk to remove this effect and see if it works fine after that.

as you all probably know , The one X has a problem with Live Wallpapers , When you scroll between home Screens, the Live wallpaper stops, and then resumes once you stop scrolling.
This is a VERY big dissapointment, Just wondering if there is a fix for it yet or not?
And Please dont suggest using a different Launcher !

It's about the 720p resolution. Wallpapers have always been unusable for me with Android, it doesn't get any better with higher resolutions.

How does resolution affect this problem?
HOX should be able to handle this and more.
no ROM is compatible with the application: photos of google, it is impossible to view recorded in the backup videos. you are too lags with various games such as Asphalt 8. I have tried all the roms out there, both stock as all the developers that are in this and several forums and have not found a ROM to move at least these two problems. the only ROM that moves at least the application google pictures on the option to view videos in the backup is the vibe ROM vibe 2.9, but fails in the asphalt would rather lag.

you have bought a phone with a low end graphics chip. obviously asphalt won't run good on that GPU. a MT6752 would be a better choice. and to the google photo app, its a bug on many devices. google need to fix it.

with stock ROM works perfectly 20151014 8. asphalt so I do not think the problem is the processor or CPU. photo application works perfectly with google rom 2.9 lenovo vibe.

define what you mean by perfect. this game cant run perfect on this low end gpu. i will try this on the V2.3. and have you also played when you phones battery is above 15% ? because under 15% the phone use just 4 cores with max 819MHz

google photos video works perfect on NEXUS V2.3 which will be uploaded soon
asphalt 8 is laggy, but playable (a MT6752 would be for you anyway a better choice)

How is it this phone can't seem to even keep 2 apps in memory!? Google Maps navigation dies if I step into Instagram and record a video to my story. Obviously there's other background services running as well, but I try to keep very few unused apps. Is 2GB of RAM just not enough for Nougat? What have you guys done to try and help the situation? I am on stock rooted Android 7.1.2.

Maybe try using greenify to hibernate some of the apps that are running in the background. Or try to adjust the minfree ram values via some kernel managing app like Kernel Adiutor
I have no memory problem.
You are using two the most memory heavy tasks (maps and video recording). I get my background apps closed even when I launch Camera.

It depends. For me, multitasking is working just fine. I can use Word and Chrome simultaneously and from time to time switch to Inbox by Gmail without getting any app closed.
The only thing that truly kills multitasking on the 5x for me is HDR photo (which even kills music players) and gaming in general as it struggles to keep anything active once a game loads.
So many sources has posted about pixel 2 launcher and live wallpaper,both can be installed by non pixel devices including mi a1.i already installed pixel 2 launcher its smoother than the stock no issues.but when i install pixel 2 live wallpaper i got lags and not smooth all the time,anyone facing that issue too?or is it just me?

try the earth live wallpaper. it is significantly smoother. Mi A1 processor is too slow to process the Lagos wallpaper
I'm not sure about it being too slow to handle it, try to monitor the cores speed (and usage) while displaying it.
I have the Meizu M3 Note which has slower CPU and GPU than the Mi A1 "Helio P10"
I installed the pixel live wallpaper and it works smoothly without any lag
I really don't know what's the problem with the Mi A1 since the CPU&GPU can run some intensive games without any issue

For what,its definitely from the live wallpaper,i suspect its on GPU because the lags is when the transition between app to app or scrolling,sliding opens recent apps on homscreen

It's already an common issue for our device,since this isn't official from Google nor xiaomi, all we can do is report to developers who porting this and wait them to fix it
I feel once we have a source built custom rom like Lineage or pure AOSP CAF... by 3rd party developers.. this Pixel 2 live wallpaper should work without any lags.. Its definitely not because our SOC is slow or old enough not to run it smoothly. This lag issue is appearing for Galaxy S8+ users also. read the port thread and all the posts by people. Many using LG G3 or older phones are able to run it smoothly
Pixel live wallpapers run smooth on my Moto X 2014 with older CPU. I don't understand why it lags a lot on Mi A1. My Moto X is using custom ROM Lineage 14.1. Maybe it will run smoothly on custom ROMs.

What happens when you set both the CPU and GPU governors to "performance", does it still laggy ?
I think it's the same problem as when you try to enable the gesture zoom in the accessibility menù. Theres a HUGE lag of the entire system.
Works fine in my Nvidia Shield with a 2014 processor, lags in Mi A1 LUL

I guess the pixel live wallpapers aren't optimised for SD625 because the Moto G5s plus and the Redmi Note 4 both sport the SD625 and the live wallpapers lag on both the devices.

why do u think it wont work on Lg G3.. ?? SD 801 is a class processor.. It survived for nearly 3 years as a flagship processor... i dont knw much but i saw g3 users saying it doesnt lag so told here...!! still i miss the wallpapers on my Mi A1...!! even the Pixel 1 Live wallpapers are lagging on Mi A1 when i try to scroll between pages in the launcher.
The wallpaper animation itself is not lagging but UI lags when we swipe right or left on home screen with LWP as background.
I was using Pixel 1 Earth Live wallpaper for nearly a year on my 2.8 year old YU YUreka phone.. it came with SD 615 a predecessor of SD 625.. so its definitely not a SOC issue.. probably our stock rom is not optimized enough i guess...!! its definitely not pure AOSP..
so just waiting for source built custom roms

Well i installed it even on the Redmi 4 and the Redmi 4a which worked without any lags or stutters but as soon as I install it on my friend's A1 the phone started lagging af so definitely not related to processing power
It does not lag on my Nexus 5x, but it does so in my mi a1.
