please help me with this I'm stuck - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Due to some problems I rooted my note 2 gt-n7100 using king root and successfully installed twrp custom recovery 2.8.0.1.
And now I am experiencing some problems due to it. So I need to uninstall or remove and I need my old android recovery to be installed in my device. Please help me as soon as you see this message.

You can download the phone's stock rom from sammobile.com, extract the recovery, and flash it.
If you want to make it simpler, you can re-flash the entire ROM which will return the phone to a stock configuration.
BTW, there is no need to root before installing TWRP. You can install TWRP from Odin and then, if you want root, flash supersu.zip from TWRP.

[Q] Rooting the Note 2

Hello all
Previously i've only owned HTC devices, and rooted several of them with ease. Now that i've bought the Note 2, i'm faced with a problem.
I've read around a bit, and apparently you use ODIN to flash with, through i haven't downloaded it yet. (But i've read that you can also use a normal recovery like CWM?)
Is there anything like S-ON / S-OFF (for HTC devices) for Samsung?
And my last and final question, specifically for rooting the note 2 and putting custom roms on it:
Can i download ODIN, get the CWM file posted in the Omega rom thread for example, flash it through ODIN and then just go into recovery and flash the rom? Then it'll be rooted with custom recovery, and good to go?
Hope that wasn't too many questions, i simply don't want to mess anything up with my new phone

the system is completely unlocked once you have root access, no S-off needed.
your other questions are a bit unclear but i'll try to explain.
you will need odin at least once.
you have to flash cwm or a pre-rooted custom rom packaged in a .tar file using odin first.
if you chose cwm you can then install root or a custom rom packaged in a .zip.
the easest route if you have an N7100 is to install the cwm+root tar from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901196 using odin.
you only have to flash 1 file and it will automatically install cwm, reboot into recovery, and then root your phone.
to enter download mode(required for odin) you need to turn on your phone while holding home and volume -
took me a while to figure that out.

[Q] Can't Root? What are my options?

I have an i747M, from Fido (rogers) running the stock 4.3 firmware. yesterday i tried to root it using odin to install CWM, and then CWM to install supersu.
after successfully installing supersu, i restarted the phone, and got knox blocking the app. i updated it from Play, but then i couldn't open it, and it said it can't install the binary. when my phone asked to update the security certificates, i (stupidly) agreed.
i downloaded the .zip for supersu 1.89, and tried installing that, with the same result, but this time i also can't uninstall supersu.
i've bumped my binary counter, but i'm back to basically stock now.
my goal is to install aokp. is there a way to do it without gaining root first?
if i install CWM through odin, can i flash the aokp rom from CWM?
will the phone reset the recovery?
is this risky?
You could try installing a pre-rooted Rogers rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I was not able to find a pre-rooted 4.3 for Fido and, since you intend to install a custom rom and recovery, the pre-rooted Rogers ROM might be a good place to start.
It's there a reason to install a rooted rom before aokp? As far as I can tell, I can install aokp without rooting at all.
or am I missing something?

Yes, you can just install a custom ROM without rooting first.
I mentioned the prerooted ROM because you post said you wanted to install su.
Ok, please confirm i have this procedure correct:
1. i use Odin to install CWM
2. boot straight into CWM
3. from inside CWM, i flash the AOKP zip file, and then the gapps zip file
my understanding is that this will keep cwm as my recovery and install aokp with gapps.
am i missing anything?

Just make sure you flash a tar version of CWM that is meant for your phone.
I can't really speak about 4.3 because I'm on 4.1.2 but the method you described is the same method I used.

If you want to kill Konx to enable root you can flash this knox removal script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507931
If you are just going to flash AOKP via CWM, this may not be necessary, but this is the answer to your Knox problem.

Towelroot seems quite easy. Once I do that, what's the best way to install latest TWRP or CWM on rooted 4.4.2? I had always heard GooManager, but now it's showing as not supported and unavailable.
No need to root. Just load a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM.
Flash recovery with odin.

Like someone mentioned earlier, try flashing a custom recovery (I like philz touch myself) via odin. Once you access Recovery, if your phone isn't rooted upon trying to reboot you'll see a message that says "root priviliges may be lost, root (or something like it) binary su). Choose yes and your phone will be rooted once it boots. Install SuperSU (or kush's Superuser if you'd like) and then you'll see your phone is rooted.
I used TowelRoot and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. However, 4.4.2 seems to run extremely slow on the I747 so you might consider a custom ROM. That is the route I am looking into.

Stuck on 4.1.2, stock rooted need help

Hello,
I messed up my Note 8 and recently was able to reinstall 4.1.2 stock, I tried connecting to Kies and it doesn't work. I wanted to update to the newest software then root. Since that wasn't working I rooted via Odin then attempted to flash twrp so I could flash a custom rom. Root works but the custom recovery doesn't stick... I tried unticking reboot in odin and the system still reboots into standard recovery.
I tried using the toolkit and its stuck on waiting on debug even though debug is clicked.
Can anyone help me install a custom recovery via odin or another way?
If you have the at&t sgh-i467 version - there is not a custom recovery for it because it has a locked bootlader.
Additionally, the newest 4.4.2 ota update has not been rooted as of yet - so if you must have root, don't install the ota.
The original mf1 rom is rootable, but again there is no customers recovery due to the locked bootloader.
This only applies to the at&t in version...
use Odin
