I bought my nexus 7 2013 LTE back in April and almost immediately flashed CM 11 on it. While I was using it my internal storage was always listed as being just over 12GB when my device is suppose to be 32GB. I though this might have been an error on tmobiles part by sending me the wrong one. Just recently I flashed the stock factory 4.4.3 image and found that my storage really is 32GB (28GB to be exact.) My question is how would I solve this problem if I decide to go back to a custom ROM again, the problem was is other Roms I used too so I know its not just CM. I like the stock ROM but its just lacking a few things that I like to use a lot but I don't want to switch back over if it means my 32gb becomes 12gb every time. Anyone else experience this issue? If so is there a fix for it?

It's a bug that happens with Nexus devices sometimes.
The fix is to flash factory recovery and wipe.

I'm assuming I would do this after flashing a custom ROM. So after that would I just re flash the custom recovery and everything would be OK?

I think it is the other way around...Use something like the WUG tool kit to flash the recovery and use that to "wipe" the device...Then flash the new rom

No, do it whenever the problem occurs. It's rare. Nandroid, copy it to computer. Flash factory recovery, do a full data/cache wipe, and restore your nandroid.
Hi guys,
So I just started running Pure Nexus Rom... What I did was to flash 20F stock image, then 3.0.2.0 twrp and then flashed the ROM+Gapps. I don't want my phone to be encrypted because it supposedly causes lags and I'd like it at smooth as possible. How do I know if the encryption is running or not? TWRP does not ask for any passwords...
Thanks in advance!

If it says encrypt then you are unencrypted.

So I rooted my 5X with the help of the Nexus root toolkit. I have successfully flashed Elementalx kernel through TWRP and have tried flashing the ROM and GApps through the toolkit and through TWP but always end up in a bootloop at the Google screen. What am I doing wrong?
I'm just looking to load a Custom ROM to possibly squeeze some extra battery life out of my 5X.
Bootloop
Hi mate,
Did you try and clear cache & dalvic after installing the rom through TWRP.
Also did you install the kernel after the rom & gapps, also try another kernel maybe, or use the stock one with the rom ( if possble ).
or grab the factory image and go back to stock & lock the bootloader.
Also, I did read if you do not use the SDK toolkit from Google ( contains Fastboot and ADB ) , you can have issues like this.

I will do some reading and see what else I find.

Which ROM are you flashing? Most have a decent installation instruction you should follow precisely.
Basic steps in correct order:
Download ROM and Gapps.
Clear data and caches (always clean install a new ROM).
Flash ROM
Flash Gapps
Flash custom kernel
Root.
Boot (on pre 7.0 first boot may take 10+ minutes)

I chose options to clear cache and dalvik when using the Nexus root toolkit and then again manually when I tried to flash through TWRP. I don't quite remember which order I tried to install the kernel. I'm assuming from your question the kernel always always has to be flashed after flashing a ROM? (Even if the kernel was previously flashed?)
I'l look into doing it the 'old fashioned' way as it seems it should iron out any issues. Thanks for the help and please reply if you have a chance!

I'm attempting to flash the latest version of Pure Nexus, Gapps, and Elementalx. From what little research I've done it seems like people are able to run this ROM and kernel combination without issues.
I followed these steps to a T and cleared cache/dalvik after every flash. I am on Nougat right now and the phone would get as far as the Google bot logo. The longest I waited was probably 10-15 minutes. Could it possibly take longer on Nougat? Does that have anything to do with encryption?
Thanks all!

It's unclear to me if you did a clean flash or not.
Check out post #2 in the pure Nexus thread for detailed installation instructions. Follow them to the letter and you should be fine.
I've been running pure Nexus with elementalX for some time now and never had any problems. Are you sure you aren't using the nougat version of elementalX? 3.05 is NOT the correct version for running pure Nexus at this moment as the ROM is still based on 6.01.

THAT must be the problem! I didn't know it was running on Marshmallow. I'll give that a try now. Thanks for the obvious answer!

So not only did I need the Marshmallow version of ElementalX but I also needed to update my vendor image for the PN ROM. Thanks for the help! All set from here on out.

Glad to be of help. Have fun with your phone!
First of all make sure you're on the correct firmware for whatever rom and kernel your wanting to use or it will not boot. It will bootloop if on say a Marshmallow build amd your trying to install a Nougat rom.. Now if all matches you can proceed.. This is how I've installed roms for 5-6 years: in twrp wipe: data, system, cache, delvik cache, flash rom, flash gapps (open gapps mini is what I use) flash either SuperSu zip or PHH superuser, next reboot. Some roms (example: DU and AICP) come with SU already inside so no need to flash it.. You can tell because in twrp during flash process you'll see SU being installed If rom comes with it. If you choose to use PHH Superuser you'll need his app from Google play store. Just grab it (search PHH Superuser) and open it and you should be good to go. I use SuperSU as I've had issues using other SU with ARISE sound which is also something i use. Hope that's not confusing. Hmu on hangouts if you need help and I'll help when I'm available: [email protected]

Need any help
Hi mate, i have now unlocked bootloader, installed twrp and installed pure nexus rom. Did not use the toolkit, i used adb and fastboot using commands... It was easy. Hi, i haven't installed any betas on my phone, it runs 3.2.7 official build amd how do i install the beta? Will this format all my data?
What are the steps i should take? Thanks
Im not sure about wiping data as I haven't done anything with oos, but I've seen a lot of issues with recovery. Before installing it get a community build of twrp as official will break with nougat. Version 3.0.2-1.22 or 28. After that I believe it's just download and install like normal. If you want to be safe backup internal storage to computer before doing anything

I know there are several threads that will show me how to get back to stock but theyre all at least a few years old. Currently my 5T is running a custom rom based on Android 11 with TWRP bluspark 3.3.1x. Can I just put a full stock zip on my sdcard and flash it in Twrp? Then by via adb or twrp, flash the stock recovery?
My main concern is getting stuck in a place it's hard to recover from. Based on my reading (and from memory) I believe the above will work but I'm not sure which recovery to flash nor am I certain which rom because its been updated. I don't believe I can flash an android 10 rom or recovery to it at this time. That would be for me the simplest solution. Once I get it back to stock I can just do the OTA updates.
The phone isn't for me. I'm giving it to a kid who needs it currently and the rom it's currently running has terrible battery drain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I had heavily modified my phone where my sdcard(internal storage) itself was not getting recognised and has tried custom os like Ubuntu touch and sailfish OS installed. But recently flashed OOS 10.0.1 back on my oneplus5t device. What I did was to wipe partition system, data, cache/dalvik and format data. Then I flashed the rom. When the device started. I did a factory reset again. This worked for me.
