WiFi Hotspot Turning Off Automatically - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I run stock rom, all updated and since the last update a few days ago (droid 7.0 build BDB90W) when I turn on wifi hot spot it turns ifself off again immediately. I've rebooted, double checked settings..
I'm out of ideas !!

I found the problem, basically the phone just decides to revert back to to WiFi when in range of my home router. Smart I guess but too smart as I wanted to hot spot a device off my phone on purpose....
So move out of Wifi range and problem goes away!

No WiFi on startup

With ICS when I first turn on my tablet, the WiFi often does not connect, even when the signal is strong. WiFi is on, but it does not connect until I turn WiFi off and then back on or manually select my home or office network. Once in a while this happens I turn the tablet back on after it has gone to sleep.
I tried restoring to factory defaults and it fixed the problem for a few weeks. But it has come back again. Has anyone seen this problem and found a solution?
I am using the OTA version of ICS.
I have also had this problem on occasion, but it seems to be happening less and less which is strange. I haven't gone to the effort of resetting my tablet.
There are many little quirks in ICS that I think will need ironing out with an update. Whether Acer think it worth their while is another matter.
I am on stock ICS - Rooted.
I know its not a fix, but normally I just toggle airplane mode from the system bar. Seems to be the fastest way to get it going. It happens on about 25% of cold boots to me.
Been happening to me every reboot since ics. Another incomplete release.

Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues?

When i First got this phone It was working perfect, that was about 2 weeks ago. But now it wi-fi isn't working. It is stock and unrooted. The only time it will connect is if i turn off Wi-Fi on my phone then turn it back on. But then it will only stay connected for one minute before loosing it. And if it does stay connected it only shows one bar of signal strength even though I'm next to the router. Anyone else having this issue? I'm about to just factory reset my phone to see if it will fix this.

There have been quite a few reports of this issue, and the carriers should all have it as a documented bug so you should have no problems with an exchange. Weak wifi & wifi turning itself on have been a problem to many gs3 owners. I recommend calling your carrier & asking for a replacement.

[Q] Wi-Fi is not turning out, all of a sudden. Possible conflict with Hot Spot.

A few days ago I noticed that my network would always stay on 4g. Normally the phone kicks over to my home WiFi without a problem. Now I can't turn the Wi-Fi on, but when I try to turn on the Wi-Fi from the settings, it turns the mobile hotspot on. I've never had a problem before. I have FoxFi that I use to turn on my mobile hotspot and it's always worked fine. The hotspot still functions perfectly fine, but the wifi doesn't. I am rooted and running a 4.3 version of Nebula ROM. Also, I just noticed when I boot my phone up, it starts with the hotspot activated. Not too long ago I flashed the full firmware here . And here is the Nebula ROM.

[Q] Wifi stopped working

OK. I've had the phone for 5 days - bought it in Malaysia - and it's been working just fine. Suddenly, back in Australia, Wifi no longer works and I can't even get the wifi icon to appear in the 'Status bar icons' at the top of the screen. Any idea what's going on? What's more, Wifi seems to have a life of it's own now - it keeps turning itself off when it feels like it and I have to manually turn in back on. Running KitKat.
Got it working with a reset

[Q] Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 wifi disables and re-enables while in use

I'm about to throw this stupid thing against the wall. Since I bought this thing a couple months ago I've noticed that sometimes when I am watching youtube a box will pop up telling me that I've connected to T1 (the name of my wifi network). It seemed odd because I was already connected but whatever. Then lately I've been using the HBOgo app to watch shows, and at some point during every episode the app will freeze and I will have to back out and then resume the episode. I assumed it was the HBO app, but I've started to realize that it is the tablet itself freezing and disabling wifi. I realized this today when I was trying to download some files. Nothing too large, 60-100mb, but the downloads were always failing before they could complete so I would have to start over. I start to download a file, the download should only take a couple minutes at the most, but before it completes, somewhere between 30% to 95% downloaded, the whole tablet freezes up and becomes completely unresponsive. Then the wifi icon disappears from the top right, and the wifi button next to location, bluetooth, etc, goes from green to gray, then after a few seconds it goes back to green and a box pops up telling me that I am connected to my wifi network again. I start the download again and the exact same thing happens. I've also noticed that the tablet gets quite hot around the camera.
It does the same thing when connected to my TP Link Archer C7 (just using N, not AC) and a netgear router I had lying around. I doubt it's the network as the router has no way to forcibly disable wifi on my tablet. When I said that the wifi button goes from green to gray, it's as if I had tapped it to manually disable wifi, even though I did no such thing.
Also, it does seem like if I turn the screen off and let it sit for a while to cool down, it will work until it heats up again. Once it starts to feel hot though the wifi will start disabling itself and downloads start failing again.
I'm only about 10 feet away from the router with direct line of site.
So is it just overheating? Defective and time to send it in under warranty?
Everything is stock.
