Since I really can't find anything about the compatibility of Magisk with the Verizon Note 7 with root access from the userdebug kernal, I want to ask if anyone has flashed the SuperSu 2.78 SR1 beta and suhide to get android pay and other apps that block their access with root to work? Im wanting to try to install this so I can use said apps, but I want to make sure that it is actually safe to use it. Ive had issues installing xposed so Im just being cautious on what I mess with on my Note 7.
Im going off of this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-t3450396
Yea it bricked my phone.
I tired to install it on my Verizon Note 7, it blocks my phone from booting up due to custom binary blocked by secure boot (boot.img) after installing suhide.

Same... Im stuck at work without a phone for now.... Wish I would have just waited for people to tell me no instead of saying screw it and installing it.
Im just gonna reroot it when I get home in 3 hours...
Ouch, that sucks. I tried Magisk but it says I have to root through them, and I believe it has to be a systemless root. Anyway I didn't go further with it as it's just way too much work to get Samsung pay. I'm bummed that so few people are able to root, it seems we are stuck with not much help.

Just select full unroot from settings in the supersu app.
I am a newbie... so here goes.
I did root it but when I go to verify it it doesn't verify. SuperSU was put on my device, but it wants to update the binary and I did that, but it keeps failing.
What I want to do is unroot it entirely and set it back to factory settings so I went to the settings in SuperSU like said above. If it is unrooted, how would I know? SuperSU is still on my table And only able to.bto.be disabled instead of e tirely removed.
I also think it didn't work because maybe I was trying to root it with a auto file for kitkat instead of lollipop. And links to the version for this lollipop are in a few places but each time I try to extract what I've downloaded the file is corrupt and it never unzips.
I've got the galaxy tab s 10.5; 16gb; wifi only (sm-t800) running lollipop 5.0.2
I'd really like to root so I can get the bloatware off, but if it isn't possible at the moment then I'd might as well go back to an unrooted device.
I'll take all the help I can get or be directed to. I've been pulling my hair out for two days on how to figure it out.
After you have unrooted reboot and you will be unrooted. Root can be verified with Root validator.
For root you can use my build here:

I'm having a different problem but I am sure it is related to this topic.
I ended up being properly rooted after I got the correct one for lollpop 5.0.2. Then I realized that The Sims Freeplay would not work. I tried to use root cloak and I had no luck. I thend tried to use xposed, but it hasn't been upgraded to Lollipop yet.... so I thought about if rooting my device was really worth it since the only game I religiously play is The Sims Freeplay (apparently they are cracking down on people who hack their game.... which is all good and well because because it has nothing to do with my game... I have a rooted device to get rid of bloatware, not to hack the game that I play in a legit way -- but whatever)...
So I chose to unroot from SuperSU like I did once before (when I wasn't properly rooted, but SU was still on my device) just to see what would happen.
I've used Odin two more times to put back the original root file I got to work for Lollipop and now on the second reboot, SuperSU still hasn't been put on my device (like it originally had did long before I even rooted properly).
So now TWRP boots up every time I want to just go straight to my download screen and from there I click on download to get to my screen. That's when I use odin and the cf-auto.
I hope I don't sound confusing. I just want to know where can I go from here?
Apparently the Sims Freeplay is being a real PITA about people trying to play their game on a root device (doesn't surprise me with EA), but I want to play it on my device rooted or not... but now my tablet feels like it's both. It's not straight out of the store box and it's not fully rooted...
What the heck am I doing wrong now?
If you have twrp installed you don't need to flash cfautoroot again. Just reboot from within twrp and it will offer to root.
If you are still having problems see the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/root-cf-autoroot-twrp-t800-t3079488
If you are having problems getting into download mode you are not doing it properly.
Hold POWER + VOL DOWN + HOME.
Under which category will it offer to root and will there be a way to get the sims freeplay working? If not I'd like to get back to straight out of the box for the tablet... but something tells me after reading for a few hours last night that thats impossible.

If you unroot with the supersu app you will be fully unrooted.
To reroot boot into twrp then reboot.
Hey guys, I'm currently on xtreolite deodexed v2.3, Android Pay will not work for me due to the root level access, some people have been able to get around this by disabling root in SuperSU and installing but that didn't work for me. Can those on different ROMs please try and report back? Does stock + root work?
I think you need to flash stock, install and setup pay, then root
^^ this! Above poster is right,
Actually, after rooting again android pay will not process transactions. At least mine failed today after rooting again when I tried at McDonald's.
Is it checking the KNOX counter or just the phone being rooted?
Just if it is rooted
Aren't there xposed modules to hide root?
I have a rooted lg g4 vs98613b
Is there a way to get android pay working fully or no. I did some research and no go for me
I have tried many different ways to get this to work. I've tried hiding root, removing SuperSU, and, many many McDoubles later, AP will only work on stock unrooted firmware.
Ya, one of the downsides to having root
I installed Xposed and tried hiding root, but no go. Still have not found a way to make it work while phone is rooted unfortunately.
I guess when my VZW phone eventually gets 6.0 I'll have to make a decision to keep root or upgrade and finally be able to use android pay....
I have a Nexus 6P and it looks like Google blocked it. We used to be able to use systemless root and remove some SU files, but now that doesn't work.
I didnt know i had replies in here. Ya it sucks not to have it and i love the nfc feature
Hello there,
I am looking for a way to install Magisk on S7 Active, since the current method provided by @miniminus triggers the secure boot and was being identified as "Custom" firmware, yet seemingly not triggering the knox bit.
Hopefully someone could shed lights on installing Magisk, as the current patched boot image cannot pass the download mode, showing "unsupport dev_type"; nor the direct patching method passes the secure boot...
Cheers,
Ivan
as far as im aware, 'custom' firmware on the boot splash, is triggered by a number of things like DM-verity error, or boot.img alterations, so having magisk confirgured may also trigger it ..
and the reason that knox hasnt been triggered, as the boot.img (current root method) used is because its a officially signed boot.img, designed for engineers....
so if you want the recovery mode (you called it download mode, which is definitely supported) when it hangs on a error, you have to wait for a few minutes for it to timeout and continue ...

Hi Miniminus,
I have the s7 active as well, but i cant find the post where you show how to install magisk. is there a way to install magisk manager so we can have systemless root? or is not possible due to our bootloader being locked?

so i can use as donor to continue development of them, magisk, and other mods etc .... as just couldnt get anywhere when i was using it as a daily..
and as it now getting uber laggy recently so i need to start updating ! .. .

I get paid tommorow, so expect a donation man! thank you for everything. im pissed off at my phone lol cant do anything on it
im still gonna be a while, its not even arrived, supposed to be arriving next week (from the USA, to the UK)
its broken and beat up, but screen is veiwable (althou smashed) with touchscreen working, its also FRP locked (easy to get around).....
but that made it cheap enough, so i didnt have to put all that much to it, and should work as a good tester platform
what are the main things you wanting to get out of magisk ? just a better/stabile/faster rooting method for apps ??

Well, The thing is, i use android pay, and use pokemon go so normal rooting doesnt work for me as I cant run those on a rooted phone, it would have o be systemless like magisk. theres a lot of bloat ware and a few apps id like to move to the system to try playing while spoofing location when is too cold to be outside (LOL) but being that s7 active's bootloader isnt even unlocked, theres no custom recovery for it. in other words is like having an iphone.:crying:
Is it working yet
Has anyone got this going before I commit to buying the s7 active?
Hi, my Mix2 arrived few days ago and I find MiUI quite nice, yet lacking few things. Those are easily available via xposed, hence I need to root. I'm also not so lucky in these matters so before I start to tinker with it I'd like to learn few things.
What are least dangerous ways to unlock and root phone? (heard sth about magisk, its quite new for me, haven't been rooting phones for couple years now) Is it good?
Suppose I succeed unlocking, rooting and flashing xposed, can I relock bootloader? I want that because ie AndroidPay needs that to work, and I haven't found any working rootcloack or similar (at least on Note2)
How reliable is 'the most official tool' for xiaomi flashing (from eu.xiaomi.com ?)? I mean can it bring back the dead or revert phone back to where I started, without any trace of tinkering?
As a new xiaomi owner are there any critical things I need to know?
Thanks!
If you flash magisk, which is the best thing ever btw, you won't have to relock bootloader to get Android pay working.

Thanks, I read about that and intend to use it. Though, there might be some issues with magisk and different versions. What features does it have?
So far, need to wait 3 days to unlock bootloader.

It's generally considered to be dangerous to relock a bootloader with anything other than perfectly stock/factory firmware installed. It may be ok to do this technically but it sort of "ties your hands" in some ways after making an unofficial modification and makes it a bit harder to recover from a botched situation.
You can have an unlocked bootloader and still use Android Pay. This can be achieved either with a ROM that is built to accomplish this (Epic ROM is an example of this) or by using Magisk, which allows root without any sort of SafetyNet trip in many cases. I don't believe there's *any* way to install Xposed and also use Android Pay or any other SafetyNet apps...the best alternative if you really want Xposed is to use Magisk and then install the Xposed Magisk module...you still can't pass SafetyNet with this setup but Magisk allows you to disable Xposed if you're willing to uncheck it in the Magisk Manager app and reboot the phone, after which time SafetyNet should pass ok...at least with this setup you'll be able to kind of have your cake and eat it too, though it's not ideal as you'll have to reboot if you want to change the status of Xposed.

Thank you for detailed answer. I didn't know that.

I tried AndroidPay few times past few days and it didn't work at all. Perhaps terminals were not compatibile. So lets say I gave up on AndroidPay - can I use regular Xposed along with Magisk? Or does it have to be that module?

Oh! I think I may be able to help you with the Android Pay issue - my phone didn't work right with Android Pay until I made sure *all* Google apps' permissions were allowed via the Apps menu in Settings (along with "Autostart" via the security app)...and also toggled the NFC setting where it lets you select between "embedded secure element" and "HCE Wallet." It probably is on "HCE Wallet" but try toggling to "embedded secure element" and then back to "HCE Wallet" a couple of times. My Mix 2 would not make a terminal connection until I did this...it would just say "card read error." Seems like a firmware bug. Let me know if that helps!
But yeah if you don't want to use Android Pay then normal Xposed should be fine...you wouldn't need Magisk I don't think. Though, I'm not sure but I think the Magisk Xposed module probably functions the same as normal Xposed so I'm not sure there's an advantage in doing so. But of course it's all about personal preference!
Whoah, I'm still new to xiaomi/android7+ policies, where each app's permissions are reduced to bare minimum (messenger not being able to show notifications for example). I will definitely try this tomorrow.
So far I just managed to unlock BL, flash recovery and install magisk. SafetyNet checks ok. Will try xposed tomorrow after some payments ;D Thanks!
HCE wallet worked for me (I had it set to SIM wallet).
If I understand correctly here is the possible solution to xposed+magisk+androidPay.
I'd need phh's su binaries for that and keep crossing fingers for it to work on 7.1
I need to learn more about that stuff before I break something
So as I was expecting I experience troubles in installing Xposed.
I followed official way as in here And got bootloop.
I removed magisk stuff in recovery and fixed bootloop, then installed v89.0 (not .1) and also bootloop.
Im using SDK25, and miui 9 - 7.1.1 so it should be ok I think
