I didn't see a way to add your own photo/custom icon to Always on display. There was a small handful of photo options that were part of the app. Is there a way to get custom ones/or your photos in there?

GO to the templates for always on, got to he very last option that has a compass or globe, open it and the black box in the middle sure turn to a + and give you an option to add whatever pics you want..

So I know a few people have asked about this around the net and I've yet to find a solution for this so I thought I'd post my little workaround.
Anyone that's tried to create a long timelapse with the GNex will tell you 1) you NEED to be plugged into AC the whole time and 2) Phone gets extremely hot. Since brightness is automatically increased when recording video, and can't be decreased I use the following combo/setup as a workaround.
Download Screen Filter from Market (**** a play store) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor&hl=en
This app essentially lets you tint your mobile screen from a percentage range of 2-98% of your current brighthness.
Once the app installed go into drawer and add the apps widget to one of your home screens, and set your desired tint percentage. I'm currently at 2% and that makes my screen look like its completely off (except for softkeys)
The final product ends up looking like this..
lol and for all you pervos out there dont be using this workaround to secretly record down/up women's clothes and such...
there is a spycam app called simple notepad that will give you a complete black screen while recording and lets you take pictures by tapping the screen. it works great with amoled scene since the phone looks like it's off when there is a black background. it'd didn't work so good on my atrix but great on the captivate. It's not in the market so you will have to google it.
thanks for the tip I'll check it out

but how can you do anything after recording has started? my phone stops recording even if i press the home button.
or do you darken it before you start recording, and then navigate blindly? how do you undarken it afterwards?
hmm... the screen filter idea seems kind of good, even though you have to navigate blind through the menu... I wish there was a native way of achieving this, just like a button in the camera to turn the screen off and back on again on a tap somewhere or so... But I think it works for my problem, thank you for your idea.
Nice feature that I came across while exploring the Settings.
No longer do we need to mod the apks in order to change the apps to dark background, which some of us prefers, because we believe a darker screen saves battery. In this case, just need to tick the check box of "Settings - Accessibility - Negative Colors".
Enjoy!

A dark display on SAMOLED does save battery. And changing this setting makes everything white, no? Your post is confusing.
It turns the background to Black, a screenshot won't be able to capture it.
And you can access it by holding the power key, you just need to enable the accessibility shortcut option.

It not only turns background black, it just inverts colors.meaning if its black, it can become white and vice versa, but if there are color they too will turn negative like in those photos...
Its usefulness is beyond my comprehension :s
These settings are from ages,it's not new.

Its the sort of thing i would do before giving my note to a friend and trolling him that he had damaged it by showing the "decolorised" screen!
Hey, is there any way to enable this option for the drop down notified menu only? This would actually be useful...
I've searched a lot for this and did not find anything. I would like to change the colors on the note 2 email apk. This is, to have a white background with black text. Is there a moded apk or a way of doing this? Can anybody explain it to me, please?

I read somewhere that there are 2 different themes for different gnote 2 versions. you can try googling it for the apk. What drives me crazy though, is that the screen dims significantly when I open the mail app, does that happen to you? going back to home screen or opening the mail settings restores the brightness. In mail itself, it goes dark, too dark to read I think.
Brightess is just fine, no diming problems.

to resolve the issue with display brightness in stock e-mail app: go to settings / power-saving - and disable "background color" option (change background color to save power in internet) - this will affect both the native browser AND the e-mail app (don't ask me how is e-mail also "internet"... )
There is an option under settings > accessibility, which allows you to 'invert colours'. Select this. Give it a go. White backgrounds will become black and vice versa.

I am after the same help!
This is a massive PITA for me coming form an iPhone where everything was easy to read. Why Samsung needed a black background and grey text is beyond me?
I must have hit some setting because my Selfie view in camera is reduced and has Gray Box surrounding it. Does anyone know what I have done and how to restore to full view?
Thanks
Never mind I found how to change back. Not sure what the purpose of the button you hit to change view though. It looks like a flash icon.

It's basically a screen flashlight; it acts like a normal flash to light up your face so you can take selfies in the dark.
I have taken a picture of my dog with my Galaxy S9 and the dog has red eyes, when I use the camera I don't change the settings just leave it on AUTO. now I bring up the picture and click in top right hand corner (settings) and go down to "Open in Photo Editor Pro" now I have been told it brings up an option called Portrait and you go in there an there is an option to correct the red eye BUT for some reason it doesn't give me this option and I have no idea what I am doing wrong or why it won't work, so I am hoping someone can please let me know if I have to change a setting or something for this option to work properly.....

Portrait is only available if it detects a human face
Plenty of other 3rd party editing apps for red eye, search Google play

A better solution is gonna be to use snapseed. full featured yet beginner friendly and easy to use. plus a lot more features than built in samsung solution.
