What are the benefits of rooting this device. - Sony Smartwatch 3

Hello Community -
Not new to rooting or android but new to android wear within the next few days. I just ordered up a SW3 for $75 off fingerhut.com. I currently own a Garmin Fenix (3 weeks of battery life with daily GPS usage) which i love but i also like collecting watches and couldnt let that deal get away from me.
Ive been reading through some of the posts on this forum but i cant seem to find what the benefits of rooting and installing a custom recovery and rom are for this device. Can someone explain what the purpose of rooting this device would be and if there are any potential benefits like extended battery life and so on? If so, could you link me to a rom with good performance and better battery life?
Thanks

Bump .... Any one seen any significant improvements from rooting this smartwatch? Any major battery improvements based on those who have rooted or used a custom kernel with this device?

With root, I can use Advanced Settings to let SWR50 vibrate after bluetooth disconnect from phone immediately, even it's connected by wi-fi.
Use Root Essentials to manager system file like R.E.
WearShell to remote SWR50 into theater mode, or reboot it and something.
It doesn't seems any battery improve, but I can do more now.

[Q] Brand new phone. What should I know? Particularly battery wise?

New phone, plugged in for almost an hour, not turned on yet. Only other smartphone was the original evolution when it came out. How can I make the most?
Nothing you can do to "condition" the battery. Just use it.
If you want better battery life then average, you'll need to start installing custom ROMs and Kernels. If you aren't sure what those are, just Google "install custom rom on Galaxy Nexus". There are a ton of tutorials out there. I'd explain it but it is way too much to go over if you're new to it. I'm fond of Android Revolution HD myself, but there are a wealth of ROM options out there.
But honestly? Play with the phone first. Get acquainted with it. Even if you don't mod anything it's a great phone. The best way to preserve battery life outside of modding is simply make sure very little runs in the background of your phone. Set all your e-mail updates to manual, tell all apps not to send you notifications, keep the multi-tasking menu empty, don't allow Facebook and Google+ to check for status updates, turn off automatic location finding etc. Only use these things as you need them and you should be fine.
Root it. Put CWM on it. Install franco kernel. = Awsome Battery
Thanks for the info, you beautiful people. My only other smart phone was the OG evo I mentioned and before that was all pebl or clamshell phones that got days of life, I'd heard all this hullabaloo about full charging and full depletion three times to make it recognize 100% or some stuff, I just wanted to be sure. I did boot it up last night and get it activated, I'm loving this little beast.

Breath new life?

Hi all,
This is my first time here and feel very humble amongst you all. I come here to gain knowledge on how to breath new life into my old Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Questions:
1) Would I be wasting my time trying to make my old faithful better?
2) Is it possible to update the firmware to simulate newer versions of Android?
3) I would like to use Android Pay, can this be achieved?
4) I understand the phone's hardware is not compatible with 4G but can any improvements be made?
5) Could I carry out any form of modifications myself with help from you guys?
BTW, I have performed a factory reset last week and the internet feels slightly quicker for whatever reason!
I'm not too bothered if anything fails as I am thinking of buying a Nexus 5X anyway but would just like to see what differences could be done.
Many thanks and I look forward to any replies given.
Thank you.

Well, I'm not a developer either but I can tell from my experience that you can breathe new life into your GNex.
I did so in 2014 when I decided to install CM11. Everything worked just fine except for one problem I encountered in connection with the
Google apps I installed as well - there was about 4-5% battery drain/hour in stand-by which I was not willing to accept. So I decided to
scrap all google apps and after flashing CM 11 without goolge apps I was back to 1%/hour (or even less) during stand-by. Apps can be found on F-droid or aptoide.
I still use it as a daily driver because it serves my needs perfectly. At present I have CM12 nightlies running and they good for daily use.
Battery life is very good; camera issues (videos used to have a small green/purple line on one edge) are gone and overall performance and stability is very good.
However, I can not tell whether Android Pay works as I do not have G-apps installed and I guess that you will not be able to do anything regarding 4G.
There are special kernel-versions that allow a higher CPU-rate; at least they existed for CM11 /Android 4.4.
I found this link on a German linux blog:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/kernel-fancy-kernel-r50-t2115590
Anyway, you can still use it as a daily driver and spend the money for a new device for other purposes.

Galaxy Nexux slow. Which ROM should I use to upgrade?

Hi,
My Galaxy Nexus 4.3, is quite slow and it has huge battery drain, even after a reset. So I was wondering to try an update to Marshmallow 6.0. Questions:
- I found many ROMS in this forum, but I have no idea which one would be the best for everyday use. Could you please recommend one of them?
- Make sense to try this update? The phone will be faster and it will consume less battery compared to 4.3?
- I have no experience in updating ROMS. Which will be the most simple procedure that I should follow in that case?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

I can recommend this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/cyanogenmod-12-beta-builds-t2958865
It has official cyanogenmod nightly status and I use it as a daily driver for my GNex. It is stable and
I experienced an increased battery drain with older CM 11 (4-5% per hour in stand-by) and Google apps package installed so I removed Google Apps completely and never went back. Battery live was up to 2,5 days with normal use and up to 6 days in stand-by.
Running with the the above ROM my GNex again can reach up to 2,5 days with my normal usage and still have about 40% of battery left.
Normally I use my my GNex for listening to mp3s and reading news sites when commuting to/from work (about 2,5 hrs/day), in addition internet research back home using WiFi, plus regular phone calls and texting.
I do not use facebook, twitter or the likes and hardly ever watch youtube on my GNex (it's more fun in front of a real screen).

Should I Root My 10?

So I've had the phone for a while, I am confident there are no physical faults and don't mind partially voiding my warranty. I've always struggled with battery life and ever since the Nougat update, my phone has been slowing down and experiencing some random issues such as very high WiFi latency and small 1-2s freezes.
Obviously a factory reset is in order and since I'm going to wipe the phone anyway, I was thinking I might root it as I have rooted all my past HTC phones; the only reason why I haven't rooted the 10 was because I was content with its performance (was) and I was waiting for Nougat, which I finally received.
Since the 10 might get Android O in the future, and it would be much easier to update over OTA, I was curious how everyone's experiences with custom ROMs and Kernels on the 10 has been? Have you experienced noticeably better battery life, performance, etc, what ROM/Kernel combinations do you guys recommend? Do you think rooting is a good choice?
Any comments welcome!

I root all of my devices but for specific reasons. I like to be able to remove unwanted applications and logging, I only want what I want running on my device. I also root to block ads with adaway, although there are alternative non root options now for this. Another benefit of root is modding, whether through a custom ROM or a stock ROM that you flash various mods to.
I initially ran the stock ROM rooted but soon found some limitations with the sd card.
A stock based custom ROM was the solution for me ( leedroid , but there are others ) . My battery life improved greatly and some mods do genuinely enhance the experience. Most roms have an installer that allows you to select everything that's installed, including kernel .
Another advantage for me is Titanium backup, the ability to backup applications prior to updating them and restore older versions of apps .
Your choice, but I enjoy the flexibility and freedom of root to take control over how my phone runs .

Best battery life rom / mod / apks for Oneplus 3T?

Hi guys!
Thought the topic may serve someone when googled someday so I thought about "diverging" from standard Q&A noob thread.
Basically I recently switched from 3T but thought it'll be nice to have it as an additional "standby" device (think of it as spam-device). I'll replace battery (3 years of service is pretty long) and then I am thinking what ROMs / MODs or APPS would be best to prioritize battery life. I was initially thinking about obvious: installing fresh rom then there's Franco Kernel (which I can underclock in it's dedicated app), keeping screen low, disabling GPS and other services that drain battery etc.
But maybe there's something better? I remember for galaxy s6 there was this "extra simple" mode that made phone last days but could be disabled if needed, maybe there's something that you can recommend?
Have an awesome one!

Some A11 roms are bringing extreme battery saver. That should help a lot (the rom that im using now has it - octavios).
