[Q] factory reset after permroot....still rooted or not !!!

after permroot i did factory reset and then the visionary app and superuser app went away. now even after reinstalling both of them my proxy app doesnt work , it gives an error saying failed to start redirect.sh (permission denied) . now is my DHD still rooted or not , if it is still rooted then how can i make the proxy app work ?
thanks
try to root using visionary again, if you are rooted at the moment simply nothing will happen if you use it
Edit; You shouldn't have lost root by factory reset alone, but stranger things have happened. Not sure about the proxy app.
DL Superuser again (or as suggested/implied), reintall the Visionary will install Superuser as well.
Certain apps need required SU permissions from Superuser. When prompted by Superuser, grant SU rights to that app you are running.
Alternatively;
1. DL & install Superuser & Terminal Emulator from the Market
2. Run Terminal emulator
3. Type "su"
4. When prompted give superuser rights
5. Terminal Emulator prompt will change to "#" if you still have root
Edit: If you still have root & Superuser permission for the proxy app, try reboot in CWM Recovery & "fix permissions". You can do from within ROM Manager, but I prefer to do in CWM Recovery when the phone hasn't booted the partitions.
Make a backup in CWM Recovery prior to doing anything.
Just sharing.. once I accidentally denied the permission to root access for one app and the setting was to remember it. It took me a while before I realized this and change it in superuser setting.
i tried the terminal emulator and after typing su it said permission denied , and yeah my titanium backup isnt working coz it says dat it needs root now.
Yep, you lost root.
Try visionary again, and make sure superuser rights are given when asked by superuser.

[Q] su permission denied

Hello there,
I just flashed a new ROM (Gingerbread 2.3.7) last night. After signing in the Google account everything is great; the old apps got redownloaded and all. I noticed that there is no apps listed in the superuser. I tried 'su' command in the emulator terminal & I got permission denied.
Luckily all the apps are working in perfect harmony. However, how do I get the superuser permission back? It seems like my device is not rooted. Do I need to root my phone again? Fingers crossed I don't.
Initially, I tried to flash the Ice Cream Sandwich. I tried multiple times but to no avail. I even tried to change the HBOOT (from CM7 > downgrader > Stock HBOOT) but the process failed. I afraid that this might be the cause my root access got lost. Anyone can verify this?
Thanks!
Su app will be built into the ROM so you should still rooted. Sounds like Su settings are just defaulting to deny. Open Su, menu > settings and check its set at prompt (safer than allow). After flashing new Rom you'll need to launch apps that require root access to allow them permission again. You might need to update the Su app or binaries if permissions don't stick.

beachcomber,
1. my Superuser is set at prompt.
2. I am not sure which app that require root access. Could you give me some examples so that I can run them?
3. I tried to update the su binaries, but I got this:
" checking current install path...FAIL!"
" failed to find currently installed su binary. Update cannot continue."
Therefore, what do you suggest?
Thanks.

Take a backup. Download this. Flash it through recovery. Reboot and check if it works.

[Q]How To Gain Superuser Permissions Without SuperSU Manager?

Hi XDA,
I am fairly new at the flashing community and I need a quick guide on how to grant Superuser permissions without having to install SuperSU or Superuser managing application. I do not need the application manager to grant which applications gains permissions. I just need all applications to gain Superuser access rights all the time on my devices. I'm aware that my devices will be at security risk and vulnerable and maybe I should just hide the Superuser managing application and allow applications to gain access all the time, but I would like to know which files to flash to allow Superuser access. I do not need SuperSU or Superuser managing applications on my devices if I am going to allow all apps to gain Superuser access at all times. I know this might upset people but I would just like to learn it.
Sample Device Usage:
Nexus 7 (2013) Android Lollipop 5.0.2
Using WugFresh Root Toolkit to automate flash and root but I need it to root without installing SuperSU or Superuser Manager.
(Please excuse me if I used the wrong terminologies and caused confusion!)
Thanks!
You're drunk, go home.

That's not how it works. You're not on Windows anymore.
Just hide the app and be done.
What you are asking can probably be done, but it will never be done, because of the security risks.
You can set SuperSU to grant without a pop-up.

Strange SU behaviour

I've got some strange problems when trying to use an app which requires superuser.
I've unlocked my bootloader, flashed TWRP and (tried to) flashed SU. But now, when I try to get SU in any app it tells me, that this is not possible.
Unlocking was done with [ToolKit] OnePlus 3 ToolKit, Unlock Bootloader, Flash TWRP, Root, and More! [v2.0]
SecureSettings tells me: Root access was not detected. The System+ module...
ES Explorer tells me: Sorry, test failed. This feature cannot run on your device
There is no overlay from SuperSU, asking if SU should be granted, and the only entries inside the SuperSU app is the ADB shell and Thermux. In this two cases the window popped up and asked if I grant SU, when calling su.
Where should the SU binaries be located? I've got a folder located directly in
Code:
/
but nothing in
Code:
/system/bin
or
Code:
/system/xbin
It uses systemless root, you won't find any supersu files in /system.
If you have twrp installed I would just grab the latest supersu beta and flash it, those toolkits always seem to cause issues that can be bypassed by learning how to do the basics yourself
Already flashed it by myself. The toolkit just pushed the zip with fastboot into storage. Then I flashed it using twrp. Also download latest version, copied it onto phone and flashed that zip. Same result...

If you have another phone there is a adb and fastboot magisk module that could maybe help with the other device acting as the computer.
Also in the past when taking an update long as the original boot was in place when installing magisk, I could hit uninstall which would put the original boot back allowing the update. Afterwards before rebooting I would go back in magisk and install then reboot. You can find more info here on XDA.
