everytime I make a gif from a scene from a movie or anything else, it cuts off the gif when it's sent through text. It's overall smaller and isn't the exact crop that I made when making it.
Is there a way to remedy this?

Can someone explain how contact images work?
I do not use facebook or real "square" pictures for the contacts. I just use PNG images that are more assigned by group or by company logo. I usually go the extra step and find some nice PNG's to use. It is easy then to see the phone from afar and know if I should jump up or let it ring. Here is what I have seen...
All my PNG's were entered using Outlook and then HTCSync'd to the phone. This seriously degrades the quality of the image when the phone rings and leaves it with a white background. The image is actually good on everything EXCEPT when the phone rings. This has to do with 95% of the phone where they show images being in a white area already.
If I change the image from the phone using the same PNG, it will then have a BLACK background... This then looks like crap everywhere else EXCEPT when the phone rings. And even then the black background is pretty noticeable.
The stock android "ring" image looks to be like a PNG, image on a clear background, so it looks nice and the shadow looks nice. I.E. not like anything else you can do, you either have WHITE or BLACK background and no choice.
Reading other threads of what people have gone through to get better resolution out of google contacts sounds very similar to what happens here. I don't think there will be any solution, but it sure seems like:
It would be nice to have 2 sources of the image, the one in the contact card and a link to the good png image for the during ring...
Has anyone learned anything or know of anything that has been updated in 2.2 (whenever we get that from Sprint, for those of us that have not rooted)??
Thanks

It seems to me the reason for the poor quality is because in your contacts list (People app), the square images are set to a certain resolution (probably 24x24), so they look good. However, when the phone rings, the resolution is too has to conform to a newer and bigger resolution to display the picture, which in return makes the picture look poor.
I'd say the solution would be to make all of your .pngs a certain resolution (something relatively high... 96x96) maybe? That way, in the People app, they'll be smaller, but also be good quality, and then when someone calls, they should conform to the 96x96 for the max resolution, so you'll get a clear picture there as well.
Does that sense? I import all my pictures from the Facebook sync, which look great on the People application, but poor when the phone rings -- this is most likely due to a static rule being set about the resolution... which you can probably get around by uploading your phone pictures, like you're doing now.

Yes, makes sense, the worst part is the image background color.. Wish it kept the transparancy. I could tollerate the large/low res image if it were transparent!
I wonder if there is a way to increase the default resolution so facebook syncs high quality images? I wonder if the facebook sync app can be modified or is this a sense issue?
Hey guys, is there an option to fill the screen with the wallpaper like in Windows? The Cropping thing is annoying me. If not, what's the proper width/height for 1 screen? I really wish there were a way to get a live preview at least if there's no fill screen. Lately all I've been doing is increasing canvas size and adding black bars in photoshop. Works most of the time but then there are some pics that just need to be resized properly.
I you have an app that changes your wallpaper automatically when it picks the wallpaper you want it will fill the screen with that wallpaper without cropping it.
If you want just that one picture as your wallpaper....what I did was pick the picture I wanted and put it in its own folder and in the settings of the wallswitch app, I chose it to use wallpapers in the folder I put the picture in. So since that was the only picture in the folder, it became my default wallpaper. OR you could wait till you catch your phone when it picks the wallpaper you want and turn of the auto feature in the app.
hope that helps!!
trying to do this via pics in gallery but it always ask me to crop them, think i need to put them where the wallpapers are stored but not sure where this is , not rooted so any easy way to do this or am i just being a bit thick
You can drag the box when selecting the wallpaper. If it's a landscape photo though, you're out of luck. You could use just about anything to add black bars to the top of a landscape image to make it fill the screen if you really wanted.
Here is a cool face using some doctor who animated gifs

Pics???
Sorry, figured it was easy enough to download.
Here are the animated gifs I used.
Note, these are WatchMaker faces. not sure if Facer can take an animation.
Here are some others if anyone wants to make some other faces with them.
These are not of my creation. There was a holo foil cover some time back and they offered a sample animated gif to get an idea of what they looked like.
Cheers.
Wait...I can use gif files in watchmaker ?!
Yes I have already made over 20 gif inspired faces with WatchMaker. check my other thread. You can export them too like this :
Yeah,
Once you upload an animated gif as a background image on the watch face creator app, it splits out the individual frames and sets a transition speed. It does this automatically.
Very cool!
Looks like I will have to buy the app...thanks guys! I got a really good gif I want for my watch
I was only using facer but your description of gif abilities of Watchmaker is making me reconsider.... looks really good to have gifs on moto 360
I have been actively using both, and I still think Facer is the better product. If you can wait a couple of weeks, the developer is about to drop a major update that will undoubtedly add GIF support and other cool stuff.
The only reason I ever use WatchMaker is for the GIF support. As soon as Facer adds it, I'm back on it permanently.
Facer has a long way to go now to catch up. Tasker integration, gifs, text effects, calendars these should be part of the os... at least they have them in watchmaker
I know I can pinch to make the video fill the screen, but is there any way to make this the default option?
not as far as i know you have to do it manualy
