I lose BT access to my keyboard periodically. Right now is one of those times. I find after a good charge, and a reboot, I can connect.
I operate on the charger, often. Since this keeps my pixel at 100%, I seldom have to charge in the closed lid (keyboard) mode. Then I got to thinking that that might account for my keyboard issues.
The keyboard is charged inductively when placed with camera eye to space-bar. But if the battery is at 100% when I close the keyboard, will it receive a charge? I know that Li-On batteries are managed but I do not know if there is still current flow through the induction coil after the battery is fully charged.
Any thoughts?

I currently have the CM10.1-M3 build from 4/17/13 installed.
For a long while, I have been having major issues charging my Captivate Glide.
My original battery died. It was bloated. I called AT+T and they sent me a replacement. I also bought two high capacity batteries.
If I leave the phone charging about half the time little or no progress is made charging. Lat night I charged the phone for over 8 hours and the charge went from 10% to 14%.
Other times I will wake up after charging it all night and it will say fully charged, but then the instant it is unplugged from the charger, it will drop down from 100% to 20% or less.
Then once every 3 or 4 days it will actually fully charge. But even in that case the charging is slow at best.
I did a full wipe and re-flashed last night and nothing changed. I have tried charging in airplane mode, but that seems to make it worse. I have had a little tiny bit of success turning mobile data off, but otherwise I have tried everything I could think of with no luck.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues, or have any suggestions? Is this a case where I might need to replace the phone entirely?

I have tried a few different chargers. I mostly use a 2.1amp wall charger. I also have a 1 amp wall charger, and a 1 amp car charger. I have tried about 3 different car chargers.
I am really suspicious that the micro-usb port on the phone went bad and that I will need to get the phone replaced.
Charging with AC is gonna be alot faster then with DC. But as far as it being the rom I don't see tthat.. sounds like possibly a loose wire or bad connection when u lay ur phone down

Charging
Hello,
When I charge my Captivate Glide with phone powered up plugged in to the wall, using the supplied wall charger, I've noticed that the battery seems to drain quicker. This is with the original battery, I will be getting an extended battery for my phone. If I power the phone down then charge it in to the wall it charges quickly and seems to take longer draining. This does not happen when charging with the PC.

Bloated battery could just be bad - but it could also be due to overcharging. That's not going to happen unless there is a serious problem with your phone, or possibly a problem with the contacts leading to an incorrect voltage reading. This also may explain your problems charging and sudden jumps in charge %.
Clean your contacts well on the battery side and phone side with a pencil eraser, rubbing alcohol, etc.
I notice a big difference with whatever kernel is shipping with the current M3 cm10.1 build between a 500ma charger and 2amp charger, so I imagine the kernel is set for a 750ma or 1amp charge.
The L980 is the first phone I've owned that notified me when it was "slow charging" versus regularly charging--regularly, as in simply showing a message saying "charging has begun." I don't have a single complaint about this monster of a battery, but I'm extremely anal with and adamant about not frivolously charging my devices in order to extend the battery's longevity.
My first question is if this behavior is even necessary.... I remember reading a few years ago that lithium-ion battery cells "get weaker" each time they are plugged in to begin a new charge cycle--no matter the current battery level, from 0% to 99% full--and subsequently lose longevity. Is this even true? If so, for this phone, does changing charge state (b/t slow charging and normal charging) have the same effect on the battery as does beginning a new charge cycle?
Just wondering. So far, I've been able to make it 2 days on one full charge!!
I personally don't think it matters which mode it's in. I will say that the phone has a flag that shows you slow charging if the amperage isn't up to what the stick charger puts out. You can technically say that this phone has a" rapid charge" feature that's always activated until it senses a lower amperage.

May I know under what conditions that you will be notified it is "slow charging" versus regularly charging? I have never had that notification either when I charge it with the USB cable or the wireless charger..
I've had it say that occasionally when plugged into the USB port on my computer, or into my car charger.

I've noticed that it also matters how you put - or better - TURN your charger in the wall socket (I tried turning it 180 degrees, thus changing the polarity of the fork and voila, my phone charges fast)
I've dug through the other wireless charging threads and even tried posting my issue within a couple but cannot seem to get a response. So here we go:
I have owned the WCP-700 Wireless Charger since January. It worked flawlessly with my Nexus 4 and has been working flawlessly with my Nexus 7 (2013) as well. By "flawlessly" I mean that it charges the Nexus 4/Nexus 7 until full. Once the Nexus 4/Nexus 7 is full the blinking green light at the top turns a solid green and it stops charging the device until the battery falls below 95%, then it starts charging it again (AKA the "Trickle Charge").
However, with my Nexus 5 I am noticing that while the WCP-700 charges the phone just fine, it doesn't stop charging when the device is full. When the Nexus 5 indicates that it is 100% full, the wireless charger continues trying to charge and the green light remains blinking. If I leave the phone on the charger overnight I wake up to find the phone rather hot, which concerns me.
Does anyone else have experience with this charger or the WCP-300 that can confirm whether or not your charger stops charging the phone when full, as it should? Does your green light turn solid when full?
I hate the idea of having to get a new wireless charger when this one worked so well with the other Nexus devices, but for the time being I've resorted back to plugging the Nexus 5 in with the stock charger to prevent from overcharging it.
I have the same charger and my phone doesn't get hot. The light doesn't turn solid green either but I think it stops charging

Overcharging isn't really an issue as there is a chip that shunts the power when the battery gets full. Plugging into your USB charger would still overcharge it if overcharging were a problem.
People everywhere and concerned about the lights on their qi chargers not responding to a full battery and thus become concerned with overcharging. Right now it looks like the N5 doesn't communicate back to the charger when full, honestly it's probably less the phone and more something in KitKat. Regardless, the charging circuits in most new phones are designed to prevent overcharging.

I have the same charger and I personally love that the N5 exhibits this behavior! My biggest gripe about the n4 is that the phone stops charging before 100% and then remains awake and drains down to 95% or lower before charging again. With this phone it always is "charged." Same with the Nexus 4 Orb. Charges continuously like a cable charge would... and it's about time!
Fun fact... you can get your n7 (2013) to charge fully on wireless by shutting the device off while it's on the charger. The device will not stop charging and you end up with a truly full charged device when you take it off the charger.
It is impossible to overcharge the Nexus 5. Wired or wireless.
Thanks for the replies guys. What you are saying makes sense. Concerns alleviated. :highfive:
I disagree. I own a power outlet with build-in Watt meter.
When I charge Nexus 4 you can read continuously 4-7W power consumption. When the phone is charged this number drops to 0 and the led turns green.
When I charge Nexus 5 you get average 6-8W power consumption, but at the end, when the battery is full at 100% you still get around 3W power consumption, even hours after the battery is charged. All this overcharging is easily detected when you remove the device from the charging pad and you'll notice the produced heat on the back of the Nexus 5.
Unfortunately I experience the same issue with Nexus 7 (bought in EU), so basically I have only Nexus 4 properly working on two different wireless chargers.

Will it eat through my battery cycles though? (will it shorten the battery's life span?)
HI can anyone tell me if there is any way to resolve this. I think is has started since doing the upgrade to Android 10 earlier this week.
I normally put my phone onto the wireless charger before going to bed and I have noticed recently that when I grab it in the morning the battery percentage is sitting around the 90% mark. I initially thought the charger was not able to charge to 100% but on further examination I see that it indeed charged to 100% after I placed it on the charger and then the charging stopped and the phone ran on battery until I removed it in the morning.
I confirmed this this morning by replacing it on the charger and watching it charge (like watching paint dry ). The charger light was blue while charging, when the phone hit 100% the charger light turned to green but after about 30s it completely switched off and so too did the indication on the lock screen that a charger is connected. Removing and reseating the phone started charging again.
It definitely looks to be software related as I did not have this problem last week. I just wanted to ask if anyone here has noticed this and knows of any workaround?
For the record I am running fast wireless charging with the samsung wireless charger that came with my wifes S8, that charger works perfectly with my older Note8. I have also tried switching to normal wireless charging speed with no success.

Unplug the charger from its power source and plug it in again, causing it to 'reboot'. Let us know the results. Note, there is an option to set the wireless charging to NOT be fast during certain hours of the day. I set mine so it charges slowly while I am sleeping - to put less stress on the battery. Your charger may be a little old as well if you got it with a note 8 or S8 - ?

IMO this is a good feature to stop the wireless charger cooking your battery.
Maybe turn down your AOD brightness or something, to use 10% within a couple of hours of being idle is pretty high. Maybe turning off fast wireless charging would extend the charge time so it finishes nearer to when you wake up could help too.
Thanks for the feedback however it does sound like workarounds for an issue that should not be present (apart from rebooting the charger which I will try when I get home).
For me wireless charging should act just like wired charging in that when it reaches 100% the phone should essentially run off the charger now and not use battery at all. Every other phone with wireless charging that I have had worked that way, this is just plain stupid.
Willhemmens its not a couple hours, looking at the battery graph if I go to bed at 10pm and put the phone on the charger it pretty much hits 100% around 11:30 and then is at 90% at 7am, so it is 10% over 7 hours which is ok in my books, but reality is that during this time the phone has another source of power that it can and should use. It did before I applied the Android 10 update.
I have had this issue every now and again, and I found that rebooting it takes care of the issue.
An update. This morning I tried my wife's wireless charger and when the phone reaches 100% it continues to show the charge icon. Put my wife's note 8 into the wireless charger and it exhibited my problem.
So it looks like this is a problem with the wireless charger and not the phone.
Thanks for the answers guys I am of to try buy a new wireless charger
edit - New charger solved the problem.
So, I've got a question and a problem, maybe.
To wireless charge my 20ultra, I use my old anker circular 10w wireless charger. It works great on my s10+, but I noticed today that to charge from 4% to 54% it took 2 hours and half, which means it would take about 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100% (with fast charge enabled).
Now my question is, is this normal or should be much faster? And if should be faster, is it possible that the problem is that my s20u cant fully charge with my actual anker charger? Ive noticed that the camera module keeps the phone with little space over the charger (not much, but it's not totally touching it, lets put it that way), and with ampere app i noticed that when it charges it says 200-250mA (i think my s10+ had much bigger charge rate).
Do you guys think its definately the charger the problem? And can you suggest a good one working with s20u? I dont like having the phone standing when i charge it, which is why i always used the circular ones from anker, but it seems to have problems with the camera module... anyone else has it and can confirm me that?
Thanks!
