[Q]CM10 Flinny Test build

Hi XDA,
I'm currently running latest Flinny CM10 test build (125), and an issue I've had for a while is that even when the phone is locked, but screen is on, I can pull down the notification bar and do actions. Is this normal? Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be switched off? I am using Apex launcher.
Cheers.
As far as I know this is a standard behavior since android 4.0 (ICS). There is no settings to disable it.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong
EDIT: If you have enabled screen security (pattern, PIN, password) you should not be able to pull down the notification bar. You should be able to pull it down only with slide lock.
I enabled a simple gesture unlock and yes now I can't pull down the notification bar.
It still seems strange that this is normal behaviour.
Thanks heaps!
yup... That's normal...
I also face some issue which is the ROM could not connect to external gps device... I think that's issue exist in CM10 since have same issue with galaxy smtd...
Yeah I don't have working orientation, light or gyro sensors still. It seems like some people have this problem and others don't depending on hardware revision.
Sorry for writing sth different here but i didnt want to create a new topic, so...

Just wondering... Do u install gapps? If not, you should do that when u install it for the first time (after you install the rom).

I love this ROM, everything I generally use on a regular basis works fine. My only real problem is this ROM is a serious power drain, within an hour of being unplugged in the morning I have already lost 10% of the battery, by mid afternoon I am forced to plug the phone back in, this is something of an issue as I work at hospitals and plugging appliances into the mains is a violation of health and safety regulations, but I need my phone so I do what ya gotta do. Is there any way to reduce the drain from this ROM as I am fairly sure it is not any applications I have installed causing it, as none are running in the background when I check running apps.
plug it in to a computer with a logcat running, see what is going on that way. or if you aren't able to sit in front of a computer for a while watchdog is a nice app for this (keep in mind it should be for testing basis and be removed later as it to will always be running in the background)

evernote makes phone slow
I am using this rom (build 124) and I have and after restoring all my apps it became really slow. After some try/error I found that uninstalling some apps solved the problem. After that I started installing my apps again one by one and I found installing evernote make the phone near unusable.
Anybody is experiencing this? it also happen if I install "camera 360".
I am running build 127 of this ROM which definitely seems faster than build 126 which was the first one I tried and seems to be quick enough to actually use it most of the time.
When things do go slow it seems to be when switching to a new app and seems more likely to happen is the new or old app is big.
Regarding more apps slowing things down I wonder if it is actually more widgets and background services. If this is, as I suspect, do to with how many apps can be cached in RAM for fast switching then the more apps have something running in the background, for example to sync with a cloud service or to keep a widget updated, the less RAM there will be for the apps you are trying to use and there will therefore be a greater chance the app you are trying to start has to be started from scratch.
These threads really need to stop, Flinny's test build is just that A TEST BUILD problems/issues are expected.
I think it's normal...anyway it don't obstruct me

In my case I am certainly NOT contributing in order to criticise. Of course I know a test build may have issues but, like many others I suspect, I am happy to try the latest thing. When things don't work quite right it is worth discussing it. If we can understand what is happening we can help each other mitigate the issue and maybe even have something useful to feed back to developers.
I was running build 127 and things had become very slow. I have now updated to build 128 and the phone is fast again. At this stage I am not sure if this has anything to do with the new build or whether it is down to apps. I have all 45 apps installed but for many of those that sync to cloud services I have not yet got round to setting up the username/password for that to happen so this may be limiting the amount of background activity to a level where it doesn't get in the way. I'll try setting some of them up and see what happens.

Using ART

Hi, I'm just installed SlimKat and I have to say that is great to be an alpha. I start this thread to ask you if anyone has tried to use the new ART. I tried but after restart (it takes a very long time to do this) things doesn't go right. I can't do anything because notificantions of failed processes not stop to appear.
Have anyone got better luck than me with ART?
U need a 3.4 kernel I believe. Which is not a available.... Yet.

I think no, if you running ART without gapps, it will running well...

You uses the wrong gapps (though I don't know where the right ones are). Nexus 4 also has this problem, but some odexed gapps package found over there seem to solve it.

i too had switched to art and had the failure notifiactions non stop... i just cancelled them until i was able to navigate...(it took a while)
anyways, will be nice to see the changes once this is useable

I tried, by flashing odex gapps. The ram usage was only 250-300mb, almost 400-450mb left, on a fully usable phone, with 85-90 apps installed. But I kept getting user app fc's. whatsapp fc'ed, n some other apps also fc'ed. So i reverted. But it was really fast, really really fast and smooth.

8.4 Lags/Temporary freezes?

Just got the 8.4 and after installing my apps (including Nova Launcher and using that as the main launcher), I get constant lags and temporary freezes when trying to work within an app or move to a new app. Eventually it un-freezes itself buts it's pretty frustrating. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a setting that could be causing this? Maybe just a bad unit? Any help-suggestions would be appreciated. I have 9+ gb available after my apps are installed.
Thanks,

I heard about some problems with launchers, but this was CM11 rom related. Latest builds fix it up, so i have no problem now. If i'll switch to stock rom, i'll test it and let you know. Maybe you must wait for official update if you want to use Nova launcher.

[Q] My LG G3 D855 can't be rooted/Battery problems (Google services) [Android 5.0]

Hi XDA, I'm a long time lurker first time poster
I wanna know if any of you guys can help me figure out why i can't, for the life of me, root my LG G3 D855. I have the 16gb version that i bought in Denmark (where i live) a month ago
I only root my phone when i feel the need to or if I'm dissatisfied with the UI (like i was with my previous Samsung Galaxy S2) but with the LG G3 i didn't find the use for root. The battery was great, and it only got better with Qualcomm Battery Guru and the UI is just stunning, although there are some things missing but i still loved it.
THE PROBLEM
I recently updated my phone to 5.0 and the UI just got better BUT the battery is sheit. Like really really ****. Worse than my Samsung Galaxy S2 after two years of use. After googling intensively i found that there are many options to saving battery with a rooted phone so i decided to root my phone. The problem is that NOTHING works with my phone.
I tried IOroot, Stump root, PurpleDr4ke, One-click root and Towelroot. I updated all drivers, i got LG PC Suite to make sure my phones drivers was up to date and still nothing works. I'm doing everything as all the XDA and Youtube guides tells me to do and still nothing works.
QUESTION
I haven't been able to find a single website that tells me that my build number is supported so my question is: Do i have one of the few G3's that actually can't be rooted as of now?? and if i actually can't root my phone then can someone help me with the battery? Why is Google services taking so much power. I hardly get 2 hours of SOT after my update. This was never an issue before upgrading my OS
I have attached pictures of my build number and my battery stats
You will have to down grade your device to 4.4.2 first, then you can root and install one of the rooted versions of 5. Think you need to use the lg flash tool lots of threads will show you how
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
Actually, the same problem i have when install 5.0
After Alot of searching i find the following
1.disable the google now
2.disable google reports location 2 options
3.enable synchronization when you need
4.disable allow WiFi scanning ~WiFi advances setting
5.give it time to notice the difference
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
I'll try that when I get home. Thank you
It's worth mentioning though that I have tried rooting before the lollipop update (just to see if I could) but I haven't tried with ioroot or towelroot so I'll definitely try that

If the downgrade doesn't help and I'm stuck with stock 5.0 I'll try this. Thanks

Flash pure stock kk from a kdz for your reigon and model D855 i flashed lollipop and battery tanked although i had kk modem still as for rooting id stick to kk or flash a custom lollipop stock like android now which had great battery when i used it just hated no xposed

GLTools with the HTC 10 on Nougat problems

Hi all,
Been trying to get Half life 2 to run on my HTC 10 (great game from back in the day which would run perfectly on the 10)
The game is from the catalogue allowed only by nvidia devices like the shield, Half life 2 has been ported over.
GL Tools allows certain games to run by spoofing certain parts of your android version afaik.
In the past you should be able to simply install the APK and the data which would normally reside in Android/Data/Obb but this no longer works as it used to.
I've bought the app by logging into my friends shield and buying it (£9.95 ) so now my phone when opening it does actually see that it's licensed but the game continues to fall flat.
My friend who has an S7 on Marshmallow with the same settings has it working perfectly.
Has anyone used this before? GLTools? OR have any insight as to what settings would best suit our phones?
I'm running Viper Rom 5.9.0 which is Nougat, I may try to roll back to see if it works but if anyone knows of a way around that i'd love to know.
Spoke with the dev who's advised me that android version shouldn't matter but i can't see any other difference between our phones besides hardware, I've changed pretty much every setting, the dev also provided me with a script but that didn't help.
Any advice or experience would help.
Thanks
Bump, I am also trying to do the same but I am trying with a stock rooted nougat rom. Will do anything to make this game work on this device. Any advice?

If you'll do anything then rollback to marshmallow..It'll work. Nougat just does not like half life 2. Simply put.
