Which case, skin or cover is best suited or good looking?

I've tried browsing a few pages in, and either I'm stupid and just missed it (very possible ), or there hasn't been a thread about just back covers themselves.
I'm curious to know if there are any replacement back covers for the phone that aren't just plastic. I was hoping to see if there was a more rubbery back cover I can slap on, or (and this may be out there) a brushed aluminum-type of back cover, like the ones found on the HD2 and Nexus One. Personally a black brushed aluminum back cover would be so nice...
I ask because I've tried the gel case from Tmobile and saw one of my coworkers' hard case protector, and I didn't like either of them. I ultimately want to avoid a case alltogether and just find a nice back cover that has a better feel to it, and possibly add just a tad bit more weight to the phone so it feels better while holding it. The cheap plastic back cover just isn't doing it for me.
Thanks, and apologies in advance if I blatantly missed this being discussed elsewhere.
I'm sure soon enough these back covers will pop up like mushroom on ebay, but nothing on the horizon at the moment.
There's a DIY thread for painting the extra back cover with rubber coat that looks pretty decent.

Lots of folks here have the mesh case that IMO the best looking with just the right thickness for the Galaxy S.

While it's not really a back cover, it's got a bit of a rubbery feel and very low profile compared to gel cases and "full" plastic covers.
Quick question? Do they sell different color/ design hard battery covers that would replace the stock battery cover? I am not looking for a protective case. When I try to search for one it always thinks I'm asking for a skin/cover. Thanks.
Not that I have seen. Best I've seen so far is a replacement battery cover, so if you wanted to hack yours up, you could.
Hello
Could anubody help me to find a schockproof case resistant to falls for my Galaxy S II? I don't mind if is not cool unless my phone is well protected
What material should it be? and what kind of case do you think that is best?
It HAS to be compatible with the original 2000mah battery!
thanks a lot for your help
The Case Mate Tough case fits, but a bit tight. Someone said that ideally would need to cut out the battery rubber liner (it's a double lined case). YouTube has a bunch of reviews of this case.
take a look at sweet armor, taurus, and akiba slider cases
these cases are made of metal with plastic padding inside.
Not sure about shock proof but it looks very durable.
that or just buy a silicon case. there are new cases made with a matte type of silicon or TPU. they feel really nice in the hand!
Thanks for the help. they really look good. but 60-70 $ for a bumper seems too much for me. I think that I'll go on a casemate tough.
Another case, great quality and fit

The finish on my pebble blue back cover cracked when I removed my carbon fiber skin that I had on it.
Heres the cheapest I could find so far but seems a little spendy
